First time to Tuhama's last night and we don't understand the hype. There are much better sandwiches all over East Dearborn. We had a kafta and a tawook sandwich, both on French bread. We also had a side of fries and a drink and the total was only $14 so it's cheap....but that's the same or more than you'll pay all over Dearborn. We had to wait about 15 minutes for the sandwiches. There wasn't much meat on the tawook sandwich and the kafta on the other was over cooked and dry. The place is also extremely dirty-looks like it hasn't been properly cleaned in months. We've had better which is a 2 star on Yelp's rating system. read more

Seriously some of the best shawarma sandwiches you can get... If they haven't sold out already. Their chicken shawarma on the French bread is amazing, and the meat shawarma is equally delicious. They're open late, but I find that they are sold out of one or both shawarmas by 9pm. People in neighborhood know. This place is always popping. Oh, the chicken burger is amazing, too. I went here for lunch before work and absolutely loved my sandwich. I ordered the soujouk sandwich. (I think that's how you spell it).. The menu is really small yet simple. The restaurant is more of a carry out place. There are a few booths and tables but nothing very big. The service was good.. I rated them four stars because of the limited space. I thought the place was very clean 2. I will definitely come back here in the future for this sandwich again! read more

OK, count me in as one of the Tuhamas fans! Working in Dearborn every day, you learn to appreciate the finer aspects of middle eastern cuisine, and Tuhamas definitely delivers. I would like to eventually work my way through the entire menu, but I have a real hard time giving up my chicken shwarma - it's become a "gotta have it at least once a week" addiction. Others in my dining party have adventurously gotten the tongue, and said it was very tasty. Everything made fresh in the tiny kitchen, and very small for dining in but perfect for takeout! I'm still a Hamido's fan, but for quick and easy Tuhama's is it! read more

The restaurant is not good looking or fancy, but if you are looking for a quality shawarma sandwich, then look no further. I went to Dearborn to visit family and friends; and was craving a shawarma. I went to Tuhama's at the recommendation of one of my friends. I ordered a shawarma with chicken and was blown away by how delicious it was. Awesome food and great customer service there. It was my first time there, though the staff made me feel really comfortable and I loved how everyone there seemed to know each other, and even though I didn't know anyone, both the staff and customers treated me like family. Best shawarma I've ever tasted. The perfect shawarma should have good pita and the right combination of chicken, garlic sauce and pickle in every bite. I found that here. The shawarma was large enough to save half for a second meal. Staff was polite even when busy. The only down side is it's not visually appealing. DO NOT EAT HERE UNLESS YOU'RE WILLING TO RISK SOME KIND OF DISEASE! I went in to pick up lunch for my coworkers and I when I happened to look over the counter into the kitchen, only to notice that nobody handling food is wearing any kind of gloves! The guy making sandwiches is just reaching into his little ingredient bins like its no big deal, putting his bare hands all over the place with no concern for cross contamination. I just tossed out my food after seeing that. To make matters better, when my boss called them and asked to speak to a manager, was told there was no manager on duty, only for her to lay into the kid that answered the phone, and have him pass it to the owner of the place. When she lodged the complaint and told him she and her staff are never eating there again (we would usually get lunch there at least once a week), the owner very rudely said "Thank you" and hung up in her face. Poor service, and no regard for basic food safety. Never, ever again. read more

5 stars for the food and value. Like what several other posters have said, the chicken shawarma sandwich was damn good, but the kafta was better! So, why did I ding Tuhama a few stars when the food was so good? The lady taking the money and one of the dudes working made me uncomfortable by staring at me during my presence. Perhaps, they were admiring my good looks, but I doubt this was the case. They looked at me as if I were some shady character getting ready to hold the place up! Every now then I come up to Dearborn from Chicago to visit friends and get my food from my usual spots! I wanted to bring some lunch over to my friends house and decided to check out this shawarma/sandwich place because my friend had raved about it. Let me say it's the best shawarma place in town! I've been to so many shawarma places in Dearborn but this is my new favorite place! I got the meat and chicken shawarma sandwiches. They were reasonably priced, fresh and delicious! The chicken and meat just looked so fresh, clean and delicious as it was twirling the big skewer. You can get the sandwich on pita or French bread! I just wish they had Ishrak thin bread) but it's still delicious on these 2 options! Not only was the sandwich great the service was even better! They are friendly and were quick to take my order. I had told the guy if they took credit cards and he said yes but for some reason the machine wasn't working right after he placed my order. Anyway he apologized for the inconvenience and gave me my bag of sandwiches I told him I only had enough cash for maybe 4 or 5 of the sandwiches out of the six I had ordered and he could remove the one or two since I didn't have that much cash on me. He wouldn't have it! He said it was there problem because of the machine not working. It was just awesome to see a business who cares for there customers and really just dealt with the problem well. Honestly Dearborn has a ton of great restaurants but most places lack service so this was a nice change for sure! In terms of parking there's some street parking outside on the side and back of the building. Also it's mostly a carry out place but they have a couple of tables and chairs. All in all it has great shawarma and I highly recommend everyone to come check this place out. Definitely my new spot when I'm in town! read more
