Needing a pit stop for healthy lunch food, I turned to Yelp and this place had enough (recent) positive reviews. On the plus side, the coffee is excellent. I ordered a dirty chai (which was not in the menu but very doable by making a chai and adding a shot of espresso) and it came out hot and in a round handled mug that I could wrap my hands around. Yay! On the minus side, I wanted something light and ordered their Shepherds Salad which was advertised as tomato and cucumber with assorted seasonings in a lemony dressing. Now, I've eaten many tomato cucumber salads, usually at Greek restaurants, but this one was about 7/10 tomato and 3/10 everything else. I wanted bigger slices of cucumber, not the tiny slivers I got. I also expected, from other places, more of an even distribution of tomato to cucumber. Nope. At $8, I was unimpressed and despite eating nearly an entire tomato it didn't fill me. I've been here twice now on two separate occasions while visiting my friends. Coming from San Francisco, I'm spoiled with really great coffee everywhere, but this place does not disappoint. The lattes are large and reasonably priced; the coffee is high quality and doesn't taste burnt. Sit down on a cold day inside with a hot beverage and enjoy a pastry. Most recently, I got a mango clove scone which was delightful, slightly warm, and a perfect companion to my coffee. The blueberry muffin that my friend got was equally delicious and doesn't taste like mass-produced, generic baked goods. The last time I was there, I got their egg samwich, which is delicious but pretty filling and heavy - with egg, ham, and buttery thick white bread. Good if you're nursing a hangover, but I think I prefer the pastry + coffee combination. This is a great coffee shop that has a great ambiance, brick walls, nice staff, and quality food & drinks. My wife and son shared the Crispy Phyllo Cheese Rolls and she had the Shrimp Güveç. Both were really good. The owner was super friendly and his signature drink, the Caravan Saray was delicious. I have long wanted to check out this stylish cafe/restaurant that anchors the downtown White River Junction retail and dining scene and finally was able to try it this weekend. It was definitely worth the wait and detour off I-91. What a smart bright and pleasant neighborhood cafe with just the right amount of style to keep it on the right side of cool. Of course, the customers are who'd you suspect - tourists like me or former urbanites now making their way in a more rural less congested environment. I had heard the BLT was worth driving out of the way for and that is so true. This is no small sandwich but a meal unto it self. In a word, yum. Skipped the coffee but I hear it's good as are the baked goods. Wifi is free, seating is plentiful though you might need to double up with someone or join the large communal table. As a starter we had hummus with lavash bread (both vegan) which was homemade and really delicious (but to be honest nothing out of space). Our main dishes were "Vegetable Güveç" a blend of mushroom, onion, pepper, potato, eggplant, carrot, garlic (vegan). The choice for vegan/vegetarian meals was not that big but the dish was awesome and recommendable as well. (Even if it was a bit expensive with 17 $ each.) For dessert my boyfriend had the "Almond Pudding" a creamy pudding with roasted almonds. He says, it was "heavy but delicious". My girlfriend suggested it on a co-workers recommendation and I mockingly said, "Yeah, I'm sure it's the best Turkish food in WRJ"... We started with an appetizer of spreads (haydari, hummus, babaganoush, Turkish salsa) that came with stuffed grape leaves and a steaming fresh lavash bread. We shared a Mixed Grill Kebab Platter that had shaved beef & lamb, lamb & chicken kebabs, a grilled meatball and a seasoned ground chicken. It was served with grilled veggies and rice pilaf that was buttery and savory. All the meat was delicious but the lamb kebab was out of this world! Very disappointing. More interested in nickeling and diming you for things that should be included or at least offered for a fair price. While the restaurant offers a nice ambiance and the food was presented in an attractive manner, the food was not authentic and the portions were not generous for the price. A shepherd salad with feta cheese and a wrap with some meat and vegetables that they called a gyro was over $22!! The salad tasted as if they forgot the dressing and the $2.50 extra per salad for feta was less than half an ounce. The cheese was barely visible in the salad. The sandwich, Doner Kebab which in parentheses said GYRO was nothing like any gyro I've eaten at either Turkish or Greek restaurants. It's a wrap with some meat and veggies and a watered down yogurt. When I mentioned my disappointment to the waitress, who while not rude was a little defensive as opposed to helpful. Visiting from out of state I was excited to try this restaurant so it was a bit of a let down. I would not recommend it if you want to have authentic Turkish food, at a fair price. read more

I love this place for lunch and espresso drinks. Their dinner is good too, but don't order wine. We asked for a recommendation and the server highly recommended this cabernet. It was $50, but highly recommended, so we thought we would splurge! The wine was okay, not great. When we got home we looked up the price and it is a $12 bottle of wine. A 2-fold mark up is typical in restaurants, but 4 times the price! That is ridiculous. I almost feel scammed. We stopped in for lunch and it was our first time to this establishment. We sat at the bar and were amazed at the menu selection. It was so tough to decide! We chose the spicy chicken sandwich and the falafel sandwich. It was suggested we add cheese and I am so glad we did! The sandwiches are served on a large fresh bun and are filled with ingredients. You have to cut them in half and they are still overflowing. The chicken wasn't spicy but had a lot of flavor. The sandwich was served with a side of sauce which was delicious for dipping. The two entree options are kebabs and guvek, a Turkish stew cooked in an earthenware dish - with each being offered in multiple protein (or vegetable) variations. This was the biggest surprise of the day. We had wanted to go hiking but it was over 90 degrees and we decided to checkout out White River Junction instead. It was lunchtime and Tuckerbox looked inviting. (although the front door on the corner is not the entrance, which virtually everyone learned the hard way) The interior was spacious and calming, the service was efficient, and the food was exceptional. We ordered a falafel sandwich and a hummus with grilled vegetable sandwich. Both came wrapped in the most delicious flat bread we have had in a long time.
