They let us try a sample of their Ube and Matcha ice cream flavors and the Ube was unreal! The red beans on the inside were so good too. The portion sizes were super generous, and the staff were very friendly. They have board games for folks to play while they are eating or waiting for their dessert. My husband and I love the bingsu from this dessert shop so much, we had to bring our daughter and son-in-law to experience it too. We tried the ube and matcha bingsu. Both were excellent. I especially loved the sweentened milk texture. The homemade ice cream scoops were delightful and tasty. The presentation of the bingsu were amazing. I understand that it takes a long time to make one bingsu. There were only two workers on staff that Sunday afternoon. Both of them were making our bingsu dessert. The matcha bingsu was done way earlier. They left the matcha bingsu on the counter and waited until both bingsu dessert were made before calling the number. I wish they had called us earlier for the matcha bingsu. It was melting a little by the time we got called. But overall both of the bingsu desserts were so good. We all enjoyed them. Did a follow-up visit to this top-rated bingsu place simply to try another classic Asian flavor: matcha (a.k.a. green tea). As with the ube flavor bingsu, this one didn't disappoint either. Well-shaved ice milk topped with a dusting of matcha powder and a generous dollop of matcha ice cream (made by Tsuki). A red bean "jam" was beneath all the bingsu, and while the dessert is huge, the flavors aren't overly sweet. We left filled but not sickened by sugar. As before, the staff were very nice AND meticulous in their preparation of this dessert. Very cute place to spend quality time with friends or significant other, also cutest decor with cats. So if you're a cat lover this is a very special place to be. Delicious dessert hot and cold treats and matcha drinks are very good and authentic. Friendly service and very welcoming, Taiyaki very interestingly is more of a mochi dough like texture than regular waffle dough texture, I could be wrong but it crispy crunchy on the outside and chewy on the inside, just enough pull that I thought was eating mochi or dango. This was a surprise and very good! Service was great, and the staff was friendly! Parking is a bit tricky, but we parked on the street nearby and walked over. Lots of cat-themed decor inside, we love it! I probably wouldn't re-order the ube - with nuts instead of a syrup or fruit, it was a little dry. My friend loved the mango however. The nutella taiyaki was great. They have some wild flavors (pepperoni pizza?!) and also offer a flight which is really fun. They also have a limited drink menu (including redbulls) and ice cream by itself. The interior is quirky and minimal. I loved the hand-painted cat art. It looks like they get busy and may not be able to wipe everything down thoroughly between customers. There are a few outdoor tables also. Parking in the area can be tricky, I usually head into the neighborhood north of Hawthorne and walk a few blocks. read more

Emily + Keiden were amazingly friendly and patient in walking me through the menu. They created the most gorgeous dessert and my kids' eyes were starstruck with the over the top decorated shaved ice. We also got a selection of fish cakes, sweet and savory, which were perfect snacks. Clean modern atmosphere with a selection of games to play while we hang out and eat! I got the mango bingsu and honestly, the shaved ice is impossibly light and fluffy, nothing like the icy crunch you'd expect! The toppings are also very generous and tested very fresh! A cute new cafe offering bingsu and taiyaki in portland! We visited on a Saturday night for dessert. The wait was a bit longer, but it's understandable since they are still new. We ordered a large strawberry and mango bingsu (they allowed split flavors on large fruit only orders) as well as the ozzie redbull (strawberry lychee), and matcha. The bingsu was topped with fresh fruit and the ice itself was delicious. Unfortunately, we found that the bottom of the bowl had way too much syrup and it was too sweet. The ozzie tasted like normal redbull, so there was nothing notable about it. I was not a huge fan of their matcha either, as they seemed to skimp on the matcha and overload on milk. Overall, I have high hopes for this new cafe and will definitely be back to try other bingsu flavors and their taiyaki! read more

Okay, real talk this is a 5/5 for bingsu so I had to give it a full go, but the taiyaki is closer to a 4/5 based on taste and texture. Went by on a weeknight with a friend and snagged a great parking spot just across the street. FYI street parking is typically easy but might be a bit harder on busy days/times. You order at the counter then grab a seat. The interior is bright with cute decor and love the cat theme and merch they have inside. We grabbed a custard taiyaki and the strawberry bingsu (small). The small sized bingsu was definitely enough for 2 people; honestly a good size for 3 even. I think the large would have killed us given our giant dinner beforehand. The entire dessert was delish, not too sweet, and the perfect sweet treat. Sue me but I think frozen desserts taste EVEN better on cold days so this was the perfect fix. Now for the taiyaki, it seemed a tad underdone on the edges and also had a little bit of a bitter aftertaste? I love custard but this one did not hit for me. Perhaps a one off, but did not make me enthused to try another taiyaki. Service was kind; water, utensils, napkins are self serve at the counter. All in all, this is the spot for bingsu, but you may want to skip the taiyaki. I will likely be back for my Korean shaved ice fix. read more

Came in not knowing what anything was, and so glad we decided to try something new! The gal at the register suggested the ube and mango bingsu, along with Nutella taiyaki. Price seems reasonable for what you get, with a good amount of indoor seats, super cute decor and super friendly staff. Ube and mango bingsu, oh what fond memories I have of you! The ube ice cream on top was so yum, not too sweet and nicely firm, which I preferred so I didn't have to deal with a melty gooey mess. It sat on top of mango chunks and sauce, with coconut and almond flakes, on a bed of shaved fluffy iced (condensed?) milk. It was smooth and silky, like if shaved ice and whipped cream had a baby. It was super light and not sweet thankfully, since the sweetness came from the fruit and ice cream. I'm drooling just reminiscing about it. We took the taiyaki home for the kids and it was delish, even 45mins after being cooked. Still soft and warm on the inside, almost like a cake/cookie stuffed with melty Nutella, shaped like a fish. I'm sure it would have tasted even better after being freshly made. Both desserts were HEAVENLY and I didn't leave me feeling like I gained 10 lbs. My friend and I walked in and the entire store smelled of fresh, ripe mango; it was overwhelming in the best way. I ended up getting their half mango and half strawberry bingsu in the regular size and it was delicious! The mango tasted like candy it was so perfectly ripe, I have been craving it ever since. The only downside was because I wanted it split, I had to get a regular or bigger and it was HUGE. Easily a shareable size. But realistically, that's nothing to deduct points over {oh no, too much delicious dessert} but it's good to know for if you're ordering for just yourself. Absolutely would visit again! read more
