I don't plan on spending that much on a cookie ever again. But the matcha was good. Needed to be a bit more sweet. But also expensive. Not a ton of seating. Peaceful. But they do have very high quality matcha and put love into everything they make. The staff are very friendly.
Walking on Williams and found KB on a day they are open. Minimalist design inside ~ clean, fresh vibe, just a couple side chairs really for those waiting on drinks. Needing some music to want to sit inside. Some more welcoming energy could be suggested for the guy taking our orders. Did nothing to intice us to anything on their menu. Miso Black Sesame ~ smooth taste & between a cookie and cake soft in bite. Wishing the black sesame was more intense. Fogato mention ~ get the Matcha Affogoto; it is a yummy treat not found often!
We drove all the way for North Portland for these cookies. They were WORTH THE DRIVE!! Food: Miso Peanut Butter (5/5): Whoa. That's such a good peanut butter cookie. Thick, rich, not overpowering but so good! The miso adds a nice depth without being too salty. Ube (5/5): Wow. Flavorful, thick, and decadent. So good!! The ube flavor really comes through and the texture is spot on. Service: Not Rated Wife picked them up. Ambiance: Not Rated Wife picked them up. Would totally come back for these, again. FYI, each cookie was $9... So... Date night dessert?
I was searching for some cookies nearby and came across Kokikoki. They had several delicious flavors available! The Nutella lava and the smores cookie butter were super dense, so I'd definitely recommend heating them up for a bit to soften them up, otherwise they can come across a bit dry. However the winning cookie for me was the mango sticky rice! It wasn't on the regular printed menu so it might be a seasonal item. But if you're lucky enough to catch it, definitely gotta grab that one! It's not often that you see mango in a cookie, let alone one that actually tastes good. The coconut cream on top softens up the cookie and the cookie itself had a nice texture/thickness to it.
Firstly, congratulations on opening up your shop, you guys deserve all the praise and recognition you can get! The matcha is perfect. Good quality, you can add your own sweetener if you need, but I think it's perfect as is! The cookies always steal the show though, all of the fun flavors that come out make it exciting to check out the place frequently! I can't wait to come back and try their new specials!!
We were trying to do a Top PDX cookie crawl... we made it to three bakeries. This was at the top. This was our first time here not being JinJu. We were prepared to spend some $$$ for cookies... they are pricey but delicious. We got three options: Nutella Black sesame Smores Our fav was Nutella, coming in next was black sesame.... The chocolate cookie was too subtle for us. These were really good, very tall, soft and very different from the typical cookie. I'm not really sure they would be categorized as a cookie, other than being round. They seem to be something else in there own lone category. It's not cakey, it's not buttery, not crispy, my wife said dense and light at the same time... tender, very fresh tasting, not undercooked cookie texture. You will just have to go try it for yourself and see how you would describe it. Side note: we got a thai coffee, it was a special. I'm not sure if they always have this or not, I sure hope they do. I think it was one of the best coffees we have had. Iced with oat milk.
I've been excited with new bakeries opening up with Asian flavors but many of them have failed to wow me. Unfortunately Kokokoki was not able to prove me wrong. The cookies themselves were quite expensive at $9 a cookie. They are decent size but all of them were pretty dry. the flavors didn't stand out as well. I came as a group so we were able to try all their flavors. they were all muted in flavor and we couldn't finish even one cookie. the matcha itself was good and came unsweetened which was fine as they had syrup you could add to your preference. however I probably wouldn't get it again as it was pricey at also $9
A modern spot with very minimalist interior design. Space is pretty small so takeout is common. We tried their Yuzu Pine Nut cookie and really enjoyed the texture and flavors! The yuzu curd was nice and refreshing. The center is soft while the outside had a nice delicate crunch. For drinks, the Clear Kagoshima Matcha was nice but could be stronger in my opinion. The Espresso Affogato was delicious though. Tasty softserve. Pricey for sure so good for a once-in-a-while treat.
We were pretty sad when Jinju closed and happy to see another baked goods/drinks place open in its place. We got one of each cookie except for the savory one and also the yuzu. The workers are both very friendly. Everything is packaged very neat and organized in the box even comes with a heating instructions, which can be heated in the box if wanted. Definitely recommend heating it up because it makes the experience a lot better. We tried a couple bites before heating and felt like it was pretty cookie dense. Heating it up makes the bite softer and evens out the cookie with the toppings; also makes the toppings more gooey and decadent. The Hojicha cookie had a white bean Center and white chocolate's all around, which was absolutely delicious with the taste of the roasted Matcha. The lava cookie was also really good but honestly warm Nutella makes anything really good. We also like the black sesame a lot. It had a good black sesame flavor. Definitely want to come back and try the drinks
As much as I enjoy a specialty bakery/cafe, especially one highlighting Asian flavors, I felt that the food did not match the price tag. The cookies are small/medium sized and $9 each. I got the hojicha cookie and sampled the other flavors which my friends got. Some flavors (hojicha, matcha) were very mild and I felt that only the Yuzu flavor was my favorite and well-balanced in the cookie. My cookie was also on the crumblier, drier side. I'm not sure if that is just because of the flavor I chose. Their matcha is good, but not $9 worthy (and I've regularly spent $10 for outstanding matcha before). I like how they did not add sweetener but provide a simple syrup bottle for you to adjust as you prefer. I can tell they use good matcha, although there wasn't a significant flavor profile difference between the different kinds they offered.
Service is friendly, kind and so welcoming. They have a selection of 6-8 different cookies, and a beverage menu also. Ambiance is crisp, calming and simple. We tried 3 cookies, and all were amazing. I will definitely be back to try the ceremonial matcha.
Amazing! Loved the s'mores cookie and the matcha affogato (with the kagoshima matcha). Matcha latte was great as well (if you like unsweetened). Matcha was strong just how I like it ;) Service was great too. Cookies come out warm. Can't wait to go back!!
The cookies are so unique and delicious with choices of sweet and savory, I was definitely very surprised by the matcha. The quality is like nothing I've ever tried before simple yet the best I've had in a long time. The staff is amazing super sweet and kind and will answer any questions that you have. The ambience is cute and simple great for a relaxing matcha date.

I'm kind of obsessed with this place. You can taste the care and craft in both the cookies and the drinks. The cookies are just insane. So thick with really fun and unique flavors. I love love the earl gray walnut fig with white chocolate. Their coffee is top tier and they get their matcha in from Japan. The folks working have always been super friendly and warm and welcoming, and checked in on me even after I got my items to make sure everything was good. The shop itself is small but there's a ton of light and I love the minimal decor. LOVE THIS PLACE. read more
Kokikoki Bakehouse is a must try bakery and cafe located on Williams. This spot is attracting a lot of attention for good reason due to their Asian-inspired cookies and drinks. Inside, they have a nice minimalist setup with a couple tables for seating. The homies and I tried a couple cookies and got some matcha, hojicha, and coffee as well. All the staff here are very friendly and welcoming. Definitely stop by and you will not regret it! read more
I loved all the unique cookie flavors and how thick the cookies were. I tried the Miso Peanut Black Sesame, Hojicha Shiro-An, Earl Grey Fig Pecan, and Ube Cream Cheese Yuzu. They all had strong flavors from the main ingredients without being too sweet or overwhelming. The cookies were also very filling, so I recommend getting a few different flavors to share with a group of friends. My favorite was the Miso Peanut Black Sesame. I also tried the Koki Koki Blend coffee, which was smooth and not acidic, just how I like it. My friend got the matcha soft serve. The staff explained that the matcha didn't have any syrup or sweetener added. The slightly bitter matcha blended really well with the sweetness of the soft serve. read more

Delicious cookies | Excellent matcha | Friendly staff I love their cookies and the flavors they choose! I ordered the miso black sesame, earl grey fig pecan, and the s'mores cookie. These are dense and bigger than my palm! The flavors are excellent and not too sweet. It's kind of like a cookie and a scone. The matchas are excellent too! Again, not too sweet. If you want your drinks to be more sweet, they have a syrup for you to add to your liking. I ordered both the Shizuoka and Kagoshima - organic (ceremonial grade). The tea is quality. Both were iced. The Shizuoka came with oat milk as a dairy substitute. No coconut milk or soy milk here. They have almond milk and oat milk as a dairy substitute. The Kagoshima came with whole milk for my husband. Friendly staff! I enjoyed coming here and plan to come back. The interior is modern and minimalist. Great location. read more

When you know there's a good matcha in Portland you know! KokiKoki has one of the best matchas and the must nice staff with the best recommendations especially if you can't decide on one drink. All the cookies that they have look so yummy, but my favorite one has to be the Yuzu Pine Nut Olive Oil! read more
absolutely creative and delicious cookies. great and innovative variety of flavors to choose from and they got the chunky bakery style shape that keeps them a good chewy and moist/dryness. competitively priced but first time ive genuinely bought and bit a cookie from a bake house that wasnt "too sweet" and that a major compliment coming from asians. def interested in trying the other flavors and their matcha as well. i think its great they allow you to add additional syrup for those who want to further customize their drink ifbit wasnt already perfectly made read more
Ok you might wonder, "How good can a $9 cookie be? And is it worth it?" Let's begin. For starters, the flavors are unique. Finding a spot with Hojicha/Miso Black Sesame/Earl Grey/Matcha, etc flavors all in one place is uncommon. Koki Koki is that spot. The cookies are thicker, dense cookies that will certainly fill you up. The flavors we tried were Miso Sesame, Hojicha and Matcha Ruby Strawberry. We also got a Matcha Affogato and a Vanilla Latte (Thai blend?) with oatmilk. The Hojicha was my favorite. It was a flavor I wasn't used to with the cookie being on the sweeter side but highly recommend. The Matcha cookie with the strawberry was my least favorite of the three. It was good but you have to find a spot on the cookie with the strawberry to get the two flavors together. I'd rather bite into the cookie and know I'll get both flavors. The Black Sesame cookie was also good. The Matcha Affogato had a yummy matcha over a soft serve vanilla ice cream. If getting one is on your agenda, make sure to come after 11am, this isn't offered earlier (according to their door signage!). The vanilla latte was a slightly sweeter than a standard latte but not very sweet to begin with. It was perfect to offset the sweetness of drinking it while eating their cookies. So to answer the questions, are they worth $9 and how good can they be? It depends. If you appreciate the unique flavors and are craving a cookie with it, these delicious cookies are worth it! If you aren't a fan of these flavors, you won't appreciate the craft of these cookies. read more

My family and I visited Portland this summer, and this was definitely one of our favorite stops. The cafe itself is small yet airy, with a clean, modern aesthetic and natural light. It was clear how much care goes into every drink. The barista took the time to explain the different matcha varieties and recommended the ceremonial Japan Wide Blend for clear matcha and the ceremonial Kagoshima for matcha lattes based on how each would best showcase the tea. My parents ordered the iced clear hojicha and the iced clear matcha (Japan Wide Blend). Both drinks were smooth and clean, with a wonderful depth of flavor. My sister and I had the iced matcha lattes with the Kagoshima ceremonial matcha, oat milk, and a little sweetener. We watched the barista hand-whisk each drink, carefully measuring every ingredient and monitoring the water temperature. Every cup was prepared with intention and presented with a simple, understated elegance. The matcha latte truly impressed me -- one of the best I've ever had. Despite its simplicity, it had incredible depth. It was smooth, balanced, and lightly sweetened, allowing the quality of the matcha to shine through. I found myself slowing down to savor every sip. If you prefer your drinks a little sweeter, additional sweetener is available at the counter, but I thought it was perfect as is. The cookies were also impressive. We shared the Miso Black Sesame and Mango Sticky Rice cookies. They were dense, flavorful, and not overly sweet. The Miso Black Sesame reminded me of kinako with a subtle peanut butter-like nuttiness, while the Mango Sticky Rice cookie (summer seasonal special) incorporated flavors of mango and coconut with a subtle crispy rice texture. It was a bit richer than the Miso Black Sesame. I imagine warming the cookies slightly could bring out more of their texture and flavor, though they were still delicious as is. This place is truly a gem. Every detail -- from the personalized recommendations to the meticulous preparation -- reflected genuine craftsmanship and care. Their affogatos also looked incredible, but we'll have to try them next time. I will absolutely stop by again when I'm in the Portland area! read more

Kokikoki Bakehouse is easily one of the best matcha spots in Portland! You can actually taste the quality. The matcha is rich, smooth, not super sweet like most spots, plus amazing cookies (albeit $9 a pop). The staff are incredibly kind, and knowledgeable! Explained the different matchas, where they source them, and were very welcoming. Pretty cool atmosphere. Definitely worth the stop if you love authentic matcha. read more

A neutral and modern cafe! It's small and seating is minimal so definitely suggest getting to-go. We ordered both a hot and iced matcha latte and both were delicious. The cookie, S'more cookie batter is gourmet and the perfect balance rich and not too sweet. Definitely recommend and will be back! read more

A great example of Portland food craftsmanship... They put great care into all their offerings... Amazing matcha and houjicha-- both straight and latte versions. The cookies were outstanding too -- especially one of the specials - a Mango Sticky Rice cookie. I am glad to stopped by this simply designed, but elegant place... Locals are blessed to have a spot like this to enjoy and savor great tea and coffee. read more

I'm not sure how someone could give this place anything but 5 stars. The kagoshima matcha alone would bring me back every time. Unfortunately, I'm only visiting but I will forever mourn not having a kokikoki where I'm from. On top of that, the mango sticky rice cookie has to be the best cookie i have ever tasted. It's not too sweet but sweet enough to keep you eating. It took everything in me to put it down and not scarf down the whole thing. Not to mention, the design of the store is minimalistic in the best way. Would 1000% recommend. read more
