Hypnos is a cute little coffee shop on N. Williams. The outside is as nice as the inside. The customer service is top notch. I was greeted warmly and not rushed to place my order. I ordered an Americano and it was delicious. I didn't have any of the pastries. Inside of the coffee shop are seats and tables and a clean, warm vibe is given off. Seating wise, they have about 5-6 tables for seating inside and some additional seating outside as well. For their menu, they have a nice selection of coffee and matcha drinks to choose from. I opted to try the Spiced Pear Matcha and it was solid with smooth flavor profile. All of the staff are very friendly and welcoming. We stumbled upon this place by accident, and it was a delight. The flavor of the carrot cake latte was incredible highly recommend drinking it without a straw to really get the flavor in your sips. The bouquet latte was refreshing with lavender, and the combination with the vanilla was a creamy spring delight. The interior aesthetic was minimalist but still cohesive. I cannot get enough of this coffee! I always treat myself to one of their specially crafted lattes on my walk home from Starcycle spin classes. The coffee has a robust flavor, and even when paired with their delicious seasonal concoctions, can be tasted over your choice of milk. And don't pass up their seasonal clouds! They offer locally made pastries as well. Service is always welcoming and genuinely kind. A great neighborhood spot run by positive and fun people. I got the pumpkin crème hojicha latte which was one of the special fall drinks. I liked the sweetness level which was wasn't too high and the spices. It was a very cozy drink. I've visited this café a few times, both during peak and non-peak hours. Unfortunately, the service is consistently slow. Even for just one cup of coffee, it usually takes around 5-10 minutes, and during busy times, it can take more than 15 minutes. Customers end up waiting a long time because the barista takes quite a while to make each drink. And that's not even counting the time spent trying to find parking -- which can easily take another 15-20 minutes. In total, you might spend 30 minutes or more just to get one to-go coffee. The coffee itself is fine, but the overall experience really isn't worth the wait. I've never experienced wait times like this at any other coffee shop before. read more

Had lunch across the street and decided to get something warm to drink since it was freezing. This coffee shop has the cutest aesthetic. The baristas there were super friendly and our drinks came out very quick. Parking here is mainly just street parking. I got the hojicha latte with oat milk and it was good. I was in the area randomly and thought a coffee would be nice since I was parked right outside anyway. Parking can get a little difficult, but at least it's free. There were a few people inside enjoying their coffees on a random cold afternoon. There was no wait to order, but quite a few people lined up to pick up their drinks, so that took some time. The cashier was friendly and made recommendations. I decided on the blackberry latte. It was perfect, not too sweet or blackberry-y. I thoroughly enjoyed it :) Hypnos is a cute coffee shop. They have wonderful matcha! It's hard to find a matcha drink that tastes authentic and real. Their coffee drinks are also splendid! Their drinks are on the bitter side, so ask for additional sweeteners if that's what you like! 5/5 stars for their drinks! The baked goods are few, but big and buttery! Also delicious! The workers are super friendly and very welcoming. They work quickly and are consistent with their latte art. There is very little seating, however, the place is very clean and bright. This is a cute minimalistic cafe with big windows for natural lighting. I highly recommend stopping by! My friend and I loved it so much that we went twice within the week. read more

OMG! Literally amazing coffee! This place is one of the reasons why Portland is known for having some of the best coffee shops. Their coffee is excellent, and sometimes they release special coffees and matcha drinks that sell out fast. The pastries are also great, and they offer vegan options from time to time. My goal is to try every drink on the menu, starting with the specialties. The interior is cute and cozy, with limited seating. I've seen people go in to work or just have a little chat. We were staying at an Airbnb close by and were going to venture along N Williams Ave. We knew where we wanted to get pastries but wanted to get coffee from somewhere else. I was googling and scrolling along the map when I saw Hypnos Coffee. No yelp yet but they do have an Instagram. Very photogenic shop! Insta-photo vibes indeed. Different flavored lattes?? Sold. We tried the marron, bramble and vanilla latte. I think they use Coava coffee beans since I see them displayed around. They sure do make a latte right! Or it was just a really cold morning and so a hot/warm cup of coffee was so perfect. We couldn't fully taste the "flavors" of the lattes to be honest, or it was very subtle. Maybe too subtle, but for a non coffee drinker. I enjoyed them all. I see they have new winter flavor offerings on their Instagram page and am jealous! I would go back to try other ones. I did also pick up a kougn amann from their pastry display because it is made like the one back in the bay area! Not the dense flat kind! So it was yummy is what I was trying to say. Got the spiced pear matcha latte. I could not taste the spiced pear at all which made me think they forgot to even put it in the drink. The flavors they offer are so unique, and I love trying new lattes so of course we had to come here! The cafe itself is cute with a decent amount of seats, super picturesque. The workers were also very sweet. I'm not a coffee connoisseur, so I can't speak to the beans/roast or whatever, but I know what I like! And each drink was not too sweet, a perfect warm pick me up in the morning! I enjoyed them all, especially the vanilla, which surprised me because it's a more basic flavor! The marron (chestnut) and bramble (blackberry) were also good, but I couldn't really pick out the flavors when I was doing a blind taste test for fun.
