Good coffee is actually quite good, so no false advertising from their name! It's in a good location, and the store is modern and clean. Not tons of seating but there's enough. I wanted to explore the neighborhood, but first I needed a place to get some work done. I came across this café and was really glad I did. One thing I appreciated was that they open early. I arrived before 8am so it was still nice and quiet, which made it easy to settle in and be productive. By the time I left about an hour later, it had started to fill up. The staff was friendly, and I ordered a latte and a chocolate croissant. The latte was great, and the croissant was absolutely delicious. The café is spacious, with plenty of seating, and it turned out to be a great place to work for a couple of hours. I'd definitely come back the next time I'm in the neighborhood. read more

As promised, I came back to give them a second try. This experience was great. The service was friendly, the place packed and the espresso delicious. My wife and I got their "Maple Orange" latte, a mocha and I got a single shot of one of their blends to try. We Also had a delicious croissant. The maple orange and the single shot were definitely the highlights. I think the shot was one of the best pulled ones I've had. I noticed that they have a little work area. This coffee shop is very pretty and aesthetic with plants and cute merch. The baristas were all super sweet! The matcha coconut passion fruit latte was a unique flavor so I tried it. Like some other reviews, I felt the matcha flavor was subtle or weak. The coconut and passion fruit were also light or hardly there. The horchata latte had a nice coffee bean flavor but also did not taste much like horchata to me. The rose croissant was pretty and the croissant was soft and fluffy. The frosting over it was crumbly, and tasted lightly of hints of rose and maybe cardamom. We stopped by Good Coffee while waiting to be seated at Screen Door across the street. This was perfect because we didn't have our coffee yet! The drinks don't only look good, they taste great too. I ordered a hot matcha which had a slight mint flavor. I can't remember what my husband got, but both drinks were tasty! It was a great start to our day. I love the vibes inside and out. Good Coffee was recommended to me by a colleague, and it did NOT disappoint. The place is clean, and staff friendly and super helpful as I arrived right when they opened. I asked for a recommendation, and was treated to the Horchata Latte, one of the best lattes I have ever had. I opted for honey as the sweetener. It was sprinkled with cinnamon, which provided an aromatic experience before I even took my first sip. The flavor profile was unlike anything Ive had before, and absolutely delicious. Good coffee is an inviting and modern coffee shop with a open indoor outdoor concept. I was immediately intrigued by their seasonal offerings. I got the iced matcha coconut and passion fruit latte. The matcha was smooth and not too sweet tasting, which I enjoyed. The passion fruit flavor came through nicely, however, I didn't get much coconut flavor. The coconut flavor was likely overpowered by the taste of dairy milk. I would definitely recommend getting an alternative milk with the matcha. read more

Almond croissant was divine! The horchata latte was delicious - so smooth and creamy but didn't get much "horchata" taste from it tbh. I was here with a large group and there's plenty of seating, and I loved the open air concept where you can be seated inside but still have some fresh air flowing through an open wall. I've always been intrigued by the choice of names for this shop... is it a tinge of arrogance, or perhaps humility? Good isn't great, but good is better than average. Either way, they probably sells themselves short. Always one of my favorite places to get a short Americano. They always have their standard espresso choice and a rotating seasonal one. I usually opt for the featured choice. Parking can be challenging in the area, but it's always worth it. The large garage door opens up and makes for a lovely atmosphere on a sunny day. The outdoor patio is entirely shaded too, which is nice. Staff are friendly and attentive. No complaints. I still remember when this location was a Peet's. Even in its new and revised form, it's still a personal fav in the pearl. read more

I've never seen this flavor profile for a croissant anywhere so O thought it was quite unique. Easily one of the best coffee shops I've been to in Portland. This is the only place where I've had a proper latte--rich, not watered down, and just chef's kiss. I got a pumpkin spice latte (extra sweet), so maybe that's why it was delicious? But still amazing nonetheless. The vibe? Immaculate. Right next to Powell's Books, always busy with people reading or working, so if you like a lively atmosphere, this is the spot. The only downside is the line setup it's kinda confusing, and they need a sign to direct people. Now, matcha lovers... I wouldn't get a matcha latte here. They pre-make it in a clear container (yikes), and it's mostly milk with a hint of matcha. That said, they sell local matcha powder--$20 for 40g, decent quality, slightly grassy, seaweedy, and astringent. With the current matcha shortage, it's not a bad buy, but if the price goes up, just go straight to Ippodo. read more

One of the girls working here told me I needed to leave because I was taking pictures with my phone. She said if I didn't leave, she was going to contact Security. I told her I wasn't taking pictures with my phone and she could go ahead and contact Security. I would like the record of this. Security came and he told me I needed to leave. I gave him my phone number and I said if you want to talk to me, you can call me. He called me. I have his phone number. I emailed the Good Coffee company from their website. I explained I had something similar happen at Dutch Brothers 2057 SW. Burnside Ave. One of the girls reported to Henry the security guard that I was watching pornography on my phone. Henry asked me to leave. I contacted the corporate office several days later at district manager called me. We spoke for 15 minutes. I explained to her I was not watching pornography on my phone. I am thrilled to have Good within a block of my home finally. For many years, Good has been my go-to place in the city. Their Woodlark Hotel location has been ideal for coworking or journalling, and their SE 12th location was my first Portland café when I moved here. The interior is large, airy, and has quite a good amount of seating, considering what was here before they arrived. I am a big fan of the color scheme, and the wall color evokes the Portland spirit with dark greens that make the space feel cozy. The team confirmed that in the summer, we can expect the large garage doors to be open to allow ample seating on the patio. For anyone accustomed to Good's abundant seasonal drinks and consistently excellent beverages, you will be more than satisfied here. The food items have been trendy, so arrive earlier to snag their fantastic food and pastries. I was surprised at the location of the till/ordering service since it seems oddly placed in the center of the space. However, I came here at the end of the first opening date, and it could be functionally designed/placed when the morning rush of locals and office workers come by. I will have to return to get a better feel of the place when things change as the team learns what works here. Finally, we have something nearby to compete with the more corporate Starbucks and Umbria. I am glad that I can support this fantastic local franchise. I am always a fan of the staff asking for names, since they really do want to get to know the neighborhood. This is a community space - so bring your best self and chat with the person next to you. Super fast service. Very intriguing seasonal drinks. I myself got an iced mocha as I was too scared to get coffee I might not like. Sadly I do not really like the mocha either. It's very bitter and the chocolate is particles floating around in it. Not a great chocolate flavor from them. My other family members got the hot horchata and cardamom pear seasonal drinks. They came with beautiful latte art. The horchata was not spicy enough for them but the cinnamon smell was strong. The pear cardamom was subtle and yummy when I tried it but there were lots of grains of cardamom in it at the end. read more

I was in town visiting family, so I'm not very familiar with the area. It seemed this location was new. It's very cute and clean. The baristas were very friendly and helpful. Honestly, I had probably one of the best coffees I've had in my life here. It's a bold statement, and I'm making it. I had a coffee off their seasonal menu, the Sarsaparilla Anise Latte. It's made with "Espresso, milk, and a reduction made from sarsaparilla root, birch root, and star anises. Garnished with ground star anise." It was lovely. Black licorice haters probably won't like this particular beverage, but anyone who likes black licorice should definitely try this. The flavors were well-combined, and it wasn't too sweet, which is how I like my coffee. Even my relatives who dislike black licorice said that, even though they'd never buy it themselves, they actually that it was gold.
