I had a card for a freebie from a friend and brought a friend with me to give them a go since she's vegan and they have so many options for her. Ok.... disappointments in order of appearance with the disclosure, up front that we were visiting them in their last 30 minutes open.... having no intention whatsoever to eat our treats there but also figuring we'd have time to try stuff, get stuff and be ok. First disappointment - we both really were looking forward to trying, and assuming we would be eating the flavor they've been promoting - peanut butter butterscotch. Sounds so good right? Well we wouldn't know, because both the gals behind the counter almost mocked us for even thinking that they would have it available. It was a weird flex... truly they didn't even have a marker for it or language saying they were out of it - they just said it was not available in a weird way. I asked permission to try a few flavors... and gal number 1 give me an enthusiastic yes , which I appreciated. I'm sorry but I always want to try so many things, realizing that with each try, most flavors are too much - or would be too much if I got an order of it. I try to only taste 2-3 but almost always end up ordering the one I don't try which is vanilla (yep, that is how I roll). I tried the boysenberry which was incredible but, too much. I then tried the mint chocolate and confirmed I still don't like theirs (I had forgot it very punchy mint, more like mouthwash than fro yo) but I always try it because I keep hoping they will change the recipe. Soooo... gal 1 went away leaving gal 2. It genuinely felt like we just got handed to the bouncer... I honestly felt afraid to try anything else because she immediately was very aggressive... like "What else" isn't a question but an order to GTFO. This intensified as my friend had questions because she's vegan, so making sure things are vegan and she was curious about getting a shake - more going for a blizzard situation. Gal 2 started lecturing her about flavors saying she was interested in too many (because M&Ms & vegan butterfingers apparently ate a ridiculous ask?). She was also saying it would be chunky - isn't that the point? My friend asked if she had had a shake there and was given a very stern NO. It was just a bit insane... like, I appreciate you are maybe wanting to close early but WOW. I said , I just want vanilla thank you... and I figured I would just order Oreos on top - again, simple. She then lectured me that they don't have that and was trying to add cookie dough... ummm... have you had an Oreo? That is a completely different flavor, texture and thing .... and no... I started asking if there was any fresh fruit or something and she seemed confused at the question... I walked almost to the register and saw marion berry compote. Yes, that's all please angry person... my friend took her time ordering while I practically ran out. I was just super uncomfortable. She had perfect eyebrows I really wanted to compliment her on but it has been a bit since I felt such strong GTFO vibes. I assume maybe she had a spicy customer before us earlier but eek. It's so true about every encounter. I'll definitely remember this one as being pretty unpleasant. My friend joked that gee, her shake was delicious even though it was apparently made with pure hate. read more

And a modern day and age. It should be easy enough to make sure the website is updated in a timely fashion. This is the NW location of Eb and Bean. The staff isn't necessarily always friendly here. It's hit or miss. But the soft serve is delicious. And I can tolerate mild rudeness in exchange for delicious soft serve. Plus they sell Bumble for less than the expensive local grocer. And the other varieties besides just Tom Bumble. Yum!! It was unfriendly service for the coolest spot on this street at 8pm on a Monday's night, so disappointed for our first time! One of the two staff members was visually annoyed with the three of us wanted to sampled the 6/8 flavors they offered. I rather they have no sample policy vs give us attitude about it, especially for 6/8 flavors available tonight. There was one person behind us so it wasn't even a long line during peak hours. I asked the one staff who wasn't gave us attitude for sampling about non-added sugar options and there was none. Dog friendly spot on this section of the street with two benches outside and few round tables and high tools inside on both side against tall glass walls. Our total for three was $29 for: -One kids size with toppings. -One regular size with toppings. -One large size tart with 3 toppings. -One berry cheesecake. The cheese cake was very average. The lady talked so quietly and the mask did not help. The flavors were kinda terrible except the pb butter scotch and the chocolate sea salt were slightly ok. Not much pb more butterscotch flavor. If the chocolate wasn't sea salt it woulda pretty mid, but it saved it. The cookie butter hard shell was clutch (ask for extra since it was a skimpy portion), the whipped cream didn't taste like much and added texture, while the cookie dough was bland and not really memorable. Everything together was way better than the samples I had tried. I used to be vegan also so I'm familiar with these flavors and even then it was just fine. Our ice cream specialist was very nice and gave us some recommendations. The large hazelnut praline was awesome. I was surprised that the non-dairy option was better than the dairy ones. The waffle cone was light and flaky for an extra $1.50. Since we got the cone, we did not feel the need to get any toppings. I believe the were an extra $.75 or was it $.90 cents. It was really dark and rich which I liked. I also tried the summer seasonals which are a coconut base. I do not like coconut but these were so good and didn't have coconut flavor. I almost got the rose lemonade. The inside was quiet and had plenty of seating. It was cool inside but almost a little too cool for my liking. The girl behind the counter made it clear she was annoyed with us arriving right before closing - even after we apologized and mentioned we were misinformed. She curtly answered one question about the flavor and made us feel so unwelcome that we rushed to put in our order. The frozen yogurt (chocolate & vanilla swirl with peanut butter shell and Papa Haydn coconut crunch) was really great, but difficult to savor since this employee spent the rest of the time banging pans and slamming things in the back. We were not the only customers there either. If she had an issue with us coming in, she could have easily told us she can't take our order and we would have left without complaint. I had Horchata and their signature Madagascar vanilla with cold brew bourbon sauce and my daughter had chocolate with a peanut butter shell. The prices are so reasonable here for the quality that you get. I also got a Eb and Bean T-shirt for my son because he is a polar bear. We always enjoy our stroll from our condo down to get our favorite treat after dinner. It feels like a healthier dessert option than a lot of other places in town, but the flavors are just as satisfying. And the place was decorated well with good photo opportunities. The people who serve you place the toppings so it is portioned appropriately if you tend to overindulge however, they are fairly generous. I've been to the Broadway location a few times. It's just far enough from my house that it's a treat to go there. Now that there is one open on NW 21st, this might be a dangerous situation developing! The thing I love the most about Eb and Bean is their vegan options! They have better vegan options than other frozen dessert places around town and I was pleasantly surprised that they had even more vegan options than I expected this time! The menu on my visit was 1/2 vegan! And when I requested to taste the vegan selections, the person who helped me made sure my companion was aware he was ordering dairy and offered me vegan toppings! That level of service is so appreciated. I honestly didn't even think of waffle cones not being vegan (don't despair - they have both!). Every time I've been in either location, they have also been spotlessly clean and that can be hard during the hot days of summer when your slinging froyo! Check them out - you won't be disappointed! i've been craving froyo for a while now, but not like the yogurtland type froyo. i really wanted the specialty froyos with unique flavors that tasted like soft serve, and eb & bean did not disappoint!! they also have non dairy flavors and you can't even tell they use alternative milk. we got the non dairy mocha macadamia and salty maple vanilla with toffee bits & chocolate chip cookies. it was truly the best froyo ive ever had, everything they make tastes so high quality and house made. i wish i lived in oregon so i could have it more often, its the froyo i dream about having again! will come back if im ever there again read more
