Quality over quantity. There's not a lot of items but what they do have is incredible.

It's difficult for me to put into words how insanely much I LOVE the vegan buffet on Thursday nights. When I stopped eating meat, I was always worried that I would never taste the delicious-goodness that is sesame chicken again but boy was a WRONG! The vegan buffet at Tsing Tao takes everything I love about Chinese food, takes out all the meat, and makes it 1,000X better. I get cravings for this place like you wouldn't believe. Their Hot & Sour Soup is easily my favorite in the state. The vegan sesame chicken is life-changing (and better than regular sesame chicken, in my opinion). The green beans (at the vegan buffet) are cooked to perfection and mixed in a DELICIOUS garlic-onion sauce. I can't get enough. I stuff myself to the verge of exploding because it's so amazingly good I just can't stop myself. And, as if it could possibly get any better, the service here is just perfect. Everyone is so nice and friendly. I feel at home whenever I come in. I can't stop smiling from the moment I enter the door to long after I leave. I'd probably eat here every day if I could. This is great American Chinese food. The quality of ingredients is high and the woman who works here is a ray of sunshine. We order delivery at times and are always greeted with someone who is happy to see us despite our pathetic pj-wearing state. They have nice fried rice dishes, and I appreciate that they have vegan options. Their chicken dishes are nice if you eat meat. They also have an affordable lunch buffet that they keep fresh. This place is a fake meat gold mine! They offer an extensive menu of vegetarian dishes ranging from vegetable based to fake chicken, fake beef, even fake ham and seafood. Definitely a must try if you are a fan of Chinese food and want some mock meats. Number 1 dish for any time you go: mock sesame chicken. Delish!! I don't really know what it is about this meal but it is so good. Tasty breaded fake chicken in a superb sesame sweet sauce. The meal is just the chicken and does not come with any side veggies. Best time to go though is Thursday night for the vegan dinner buffet! Seriously we almost go every week for this. The buffet has many entree options and is all vegan! Of course they have the mock sesame chicken but they also have so much more. The Peking mock chicken, sesame tofu, sesame balls, egg rolls, pepper potatoes are all top favorites! The hot and sour soup is also quite tasty with lots of peppery spice. Not all the entrees on the buffet are to my liking. The veggy beef is sometimes a little dry and I am not a huge fan of the fake seafood. This is of little consequence since this is a buffet after all. The staff here is always very kind and present. My wife and I frequent this place for lunch monthly, and while their food is really great I ran into a conflict with the waitress / owner. I ordered Lemon Chicken which is usually great, but this time the chicken was rubbery and tasteless. I sent it back and the waitress copped a nasty attitude. She refused to replace the entire meal - giving me just half an order of lemon chicken - I didn't complain and paid the entire tab. I thought, oh well, Stuff happens so I'll let it go. The next time I ordered lemon chicken again the waitress balked, reminding me that I returned the last one and I probably would not like this one either. It's not like I was a chronic complainer ( I love lemon chicken), and I have never returned a meal at Tsing Tao. A good customer for over a year. After her protest she delivered our meals. She had the gall to give me half an order and when I asked her about it I got more attitude. She said, and I'm paraphrasing, "I told you not to get that! You were just going to return it anyway!" I expressed dissatisfaction but she could have cared less. BTW, she charged me for a full order of lemon chicken!! She lost two good customers that day as we will never return. But no worries! We found China Gourmet in N. Boulder and it's even better than Tsing Tao. read more

The best part of our experience here was the quick friendly service. Our waitress was friendly and on top of it. The food on the other hand was unfortunately sub par Chinese food. I started with the scallion pancake which came out thick and doughy, similar to Navajo fry bread. Definitely not the flaky delicate pancakes I've had before. Next for me was Ma pao tofu. The dish looked and tasted as if it had frozen peas and carrots in it. The sauce was barely spicy and overall quite bland. The hubs went with pad Thai and it was so sweet that I could only do a bite. This great place at the Table Mesa Shopping Center has the same name as the famous Chinese beer. I've been coming to Tsing Tao for 4 years now and have never been disappointed. They've got some good cooks who put together the right flavors into the different dishes. The stir-fried Udon, Shrimp Fried Rice, Pork Dumplings and Lo Mein are my go-to dishes, but I'll be trying other items on the menu over time. Friends told us about this place and we were really looking forward to finding someplace for good takeout. Ordered Szechuan beef and Orange chicken, two dishes that are supposed to be spicy - plus two orders of fried egg rolls. The egg rolls were skinny and filled with the cabbage mixture - no season, no flavor. Worse, both of the entrees were completely bland and tasteless. Wasn't just that they weren't spicy - they had NO taste. It's like the forgot to put them in the sauce and cook them. The orange chicken had no orange zest or scallions or anything in it. Just breaded chicken - and overcooked breaded chicken at that. Both came on top of some very overcooked, pale green broccoli florets. Visited here with my wife and younger son after his University of Colorado Rugby game on Saturday. We came because of it's being listed as a Chinese buffet - note that the buffet is at lunchtime, and there's a veg / vegan buffet on Thursday evenings. Don't be disappointed by no buffet at dinnertime. We almost went to the Indian place a few doors down but were glad we didn't. We each ordered the family special - a bowl of soup, an egg roll, a crab wonton and a fantail shrimp per person, and any of perhaps a dozen select entrees, with choice of rice, for $13.95 each. The entrees were huge and came out steaming hot. Each of the three of us had more than enough to eat and everyone thoroughly enjoyed their selection. There was enough left over that my son took quite a bit of food back to the dorm room for lunch or dinner the next day. Very reasonable prices and gigantic portions. YES! Being from Chicago, I really love hearty chinese food that hits the spot. We were coming home late one night and decided to grab some pick-up from Tsing Tao on the way home. We are SO glad we did! The egg rolls are great - the pork egg rolls are AMAZING. Delicious generous filling wrapped in thick crispy egg roll paper and perfectly deep fried. The Mongolian beef was spot on and some of the best I've had in a long time. The sesame chicken was great as well. The chicken fried rice had the perfect flavor. They were friendly, fast, efficient, and the portions were huge. We live in Golden but will be coming back up to Tsing Tao soon! read more

We got the vegan orange chicken which I probably wouldn't get again but was still good, and the vegan Mongolian beef which was so weird (in a good way) and exactly like the real thing. Such a perfect quarantine treat! We ordered jalapeño chicken (the BEST!), Szechuan chicken (delish!), and Szechuan eggplant (wonderful!). We recently moved to Boulder and we were delighted to find a Chinese restaurant that is so vegan friendly. We have been here a few times and the food was great the first time and each time since it has gone downhill. Today, we decided to give it one more try and have lunch here. We ordered off their vegan menu and the waiter quipped, "That is why you so skinny". As if when you order off the vegan menu you must be skinny which is not true at all. It was like a weird compliment, I think??? We tried to order the fried rice without egg and he told us they already made fried rice for today and it already has egg in it. WHAT??? How bizarre, since we have been in before and ordered it that way no problem. He then asked us what kind of soup we wanted, there is only one vegan choice but we have tried it before and it doesn't taste good so we declined soup. He argued with us that it comes with lunch, make a choice. All in all a very unpleasant waiter, we just wanted him to go away. When he did finally go away, after repeating our order implying that is all you are ordering, we discussed what had just happened and how uncomfortable we were and we decided the best thing to do was to leave. I honestly have never done that before but we just had to go. We will never go back. There are plenty of other places we can go and spend our money. read more

I hate to write a disparaging review and hurt someone's business, but this is the most disappointing restaurant experience I have ever had. I ordered the drunken noodles, which came out watery, undercooked, and bland. It's like the cook didn't stir fry anything at all, but just dumped some lightly boiled rice noodles in weak potsticker sauce and called it a day. My partner ordered a different noodle stir fry and was similarly disappointed, and started adding large amounts of soy sauce to her meal so that she could at least taste something. Even the soup that came ahead of the entree was unappetizing. The egg drop soup was boring and slimy, and the hot and sour soup was luke warm and weird tasting. At the end the check was also wrong - they overcharged us, applying dinner prices for lunch entrees. Easily the worst $30 I've ever spent on food. We left our meals mostly untouched and went to buy a second lunch somewhere else. read more

Their Vegan dinner buffet on Thursday nights are simply impressive. For 13.95 you get all you can eat and the selection is really extensive. I don't think I could even try all the dishes before I was just too full. They have Sesame 'chicken', mushroom dishes, fake pork, shrimp, and other fake meats. They had a couple of soups, salads, steamed veggies, and spring rolls. The only thing I missed was dessert. They had some fruit, but I would have liked something more traditional. Keep in mind a lot of fried food, and a lot of tofu. My tummy hurt at the end of the meal. Not their fault, I ate way too much and I don't usually eat that type of food. The vegan buffet on Thursdays is phenomenal. I go every week and crave it on every other day. I've never ordered off the menu, but I assume the food is just as good that way. This places is really epic. The owners are really friendly, the service is great, and the food is even better. The chicken tastes wonderful, and I am not a huge fan of chicken from Chinese restaurants. My wife and I originally came to this place because we read that it had a buffet, which is what we are used to from our hometown in West Virginia. This place did not let us down at all. Even when we show up near the end of the buffet (only opened until 3) they asked us what we would like to have and made it fresh for us. I can only speak to the quality of the "Thai curry." It is not even close to being Thai curry. Unbelievably bad. I'm speechless. The rice isn't even the correct rice, it's like cheap Americanized Chinese food rice... The curry is also very (VERY) sweet and consists mostly of carrots, onions, and green peppers, which, if you have ever had Thai curry before, is hilarious. Our favorite Chinese restaurant's lunch buffet is back - the best in the West! - with an incredible selection like Mongolian and Szechuan Beef (tender meat), delicious shrimp (large shrimp!) and all-white meat chicken dishes, egg rolls, wontons, soups, desserts, AND all the food is always high quality, fresh and delicious.
