Taro milk tea is my favorite and I have been to tsaocca more times that I can count because it is simply the best! Lots of fresh taro, perfectly textured, and sweet boba. I sometimes try other flavors and while they never disappoint, the taro reigns supreme best boba I've seriously ever had

Peach Milk Oolong Tea with Boba (left), Iced Strawberry Green Tea W. Milk Foam & Lychee Jelly (right)

Ashlee L.

Couldn't leave Pittsburgh without making my weekly boba run, so I decided to try the supposedly best boba spot in Pittsburgh. Iced Strawberry Green Tea W. Milk Foam & Lychee Jelly: - The icy was good until it melted and then it just tasted like I was drinking straight up strawberry syrup - Syrup tasted too tasted artificial...wish they used real strawberries - First time having milk foam & I didn't like it...if I got this drink again, I wouldn't get the milk foam with it Peach Milk Oolong Tea with Boba: - Tea taste was decently strong, but wasn't a fan of the overall peach taste

Had to flip the menu to read Chinese to make sure I ordered right stuff

This restaurant has no chairs inside. I can only find ordering kiosks and people standing around waiting for their drinks. What's the name of this restaurant is confusing. Sign says Tsaocaa but ordering kiosks says Tsao-cha. Okay. Whatever it is. In Chinese, we call it 朝茶 so it is. I always get here at night. I couldn't drink tea because of caffeine. So, I ordered yogurt with fruit topping and pearls. Pineapple is my favorite. Yogurt was creamy and smooth. I asked for 30% sugar. The drink was sweetness from the chopped pineapple chunks.

Super spoiled being from CA where boba is everywhere so was very glad to know there's a good boba spot in Pitts! There were self-order kiosks and the menu is plentiful. Don't remember exactly what it was called but I got melon fruit tea with nata jelly and melon bits. I got it at 100% and it was good and refreshing! I got a sip of my friend's lychee fruit tea with milk foam and it was super yummy (I think I like her's a bit more). I also tried the peach milk tea and it was good too! It was a small shop with a lot of staff ready to make your drinks. There were snacks on the menu (no popcorn chicken though) and there wasn't a lot of seating. There were space in the store which is being used as storage so hopefully they can clear that and add more seating. Comparing to CA spots, this measured up really well. Definitely recommend making a stop!

Best taste for the price around Squirrel Hill. They're busy, so ordering online can save you time on weekends. Service pace is decent though, since there are a bunch of workers. There's no indoor seating and very limited outdoor seating, so it's definitely a grab and go situation. The tapioca balls never disappoint, as they're always chewy, moderately sweet, and not soggy/overcooked. Their milk teas don't come crazy sweet even at 100%. Blueberry Yogurt w/Crystal Boba: only comes in the small size. I've tried this entire series and they all taste like yogurt. If you're not a fan of that sour yogurt taste, I don't recommend it as it's not particularly sweet. Uji Matcha: comes with cheese foam. Honestly one of the best matcha drinks I've had in Pittsburgh. Nice and earthy, doesn't taste like a matcha-milk powder mix. Cheese foam is a nice complement, but I wish they offered it plain (you can get it without the foam, but you're still paying the full price) Taro Milk Green Tea w/Bubble: delicious, but the tea tends to be pretty weak and the amount of tarp you get varies a lot on the worker Purple Potato Milk Tea w/Bubble: comes with so much purple rice that it feels like a meal and I'm not a fan. I've only had it twice, but both times barely had any purée and too much rice

tsaocaa is great i have no complaints my go to boba spot in pittsburgh. cannot speak for any other drinks but the pineapple passionfruit with jelly is actually the best drink i've had in pittsburgh. no seating but it's whatev i usually just grab and go

My daughter loves this place. Decided to give it a try for myself. Self service kiosks are a available here to place your order. They have milk and flavored teas and various boba options along with cookies. You can add whip, sugar percentage you'd like and more. Lids on some drinks are sealed to poke your straw through which I love when you are on the go. This place was very busy. Street parking. I ordered a milk tea drink no boba with whip from their specialty menu. It was not bad. Would come back and try others. Pricing comparable to coffee shops.

i moved from california (which has a lot of great boba spots) and i could say this is one of the best few boba spots in pgh! my friends and i came during a busy sunday night so the place was poppin but the service was quick. the pearls were soft and freshly made which i appreciated because the texture and quality of pearls in a milk tea drink definitely changes the experience. if you like a super sweet and milky drink, brown sugar bubble milk is a must-try!

Teresa M.

This is a must-stop when in Squirrel Hill. We tend to often get the brown sugar milk bubble or the brown sugar milk black tea. I am excited to try the fruit teas on future visits! This most recent visit, we also got the red velvet egg waffle and the macarons. Highly recommend both of these. The egg waffle is served warm in a bag. The macarons were as expected, light and tasty. We tried the pistachio, red velvet, blueberry lavender, and hazelnut macarons. I suggest ordering online so you can fully explore their menu. They also have in-store ordering options on an iPad or a station to order face-to-face with staff. The only thing I don't quite understand and probably should ask to clarify - they have an option for percent of sugar when ordering. The question is, is this added sugar? Or less sugar if you order, say, 30%? Regardless, we usually select a safe 30% and it's a delightful amount of sweetness.

Anabel A.

Highly recommend the HK egg waffle. The batter brings back childhood memories of HK in the 80's and is one of the best I've had in the states. The temperature is hot and fresh. They could use a little less batter to create slightly crispier gai dan chai but good enough for Pittsburgh. The service was fine, not much of it since it's all ordered via a large screen on the wall. No inside seats either. You can't customize drinks like you do at a Starbucks with a barista. For example, you can't order a beverage without the "bubbles", there's no option for you to remove ingredients, only the ability to add ingredients. This creates operational efficiencies but lacks true customization.

A relatively new bubble tea shop in Squirrel Hill. Their interior is super clean and they also sell macarons along with their bubble teas. My friend ordered their black milk tea with crystal pearls and it was amazing!! The white crystal pearls were amazing so really unique- it wasn't too sweet or too soggy. The bubbles were perfect and you could also really taste the tea! They only had one size for this order and it was huge- overall, great boba for great price. :) read more

This used to be my go-to spot for bubble tea, but in my past few visits, the atmosphere has not been great. The employees are clearly overwhelmed with orders and the AC is turned off. The typical wait is around 20-30 minutes for one drink, and the quality tastes worse than it used to. And if they make a mistake with your order, they don't have time to care. I would not recommend coming here. read more

This is the best boba place I've been to in the Pittsburgh region. The service is pretty slow but it's worth it for how good it is. Plus the cups are really nice and thick so it makes the price worth it. Went in expecting great bubble tea due to the variety of flavors and the high price. Had a terrible experience here. They told me the tapioca pearls had run out after i already paid and asked what I would like as a replacement, stating I could replace it with the crystal jelly. When I told them that's what I wanted, the cashier then again told me that they couldn't offer it to me because it was seasonal and "rare". I then settled with the herb jelly. After getting the tea, I noticed some weird taste and texture and I came home and strained it to see what it could possibly be and found what I've attached in the picture. Just clumps of powder which came up with every single sip. Other than the quality of the tea, the service was so slow and rude. I would never go here again. read more

I am not huge on the milk teas just because they always feel too heavy for me but the ones here had this nice and light taste. I got my go to black and gold and I think they put some sort of mango puree or mango chunks in there which gave it really fresh taste. Also something really underrated is the quality of the cups and straws. The cups are a perfect shape for cupholders and aren't made of some cheap plastic that you could crush with the slightest pressure. Overall it was a great experience and I look forward to going there again! read more

I am an avid bubble tea lover! I was so excited to see a new bubble tea establishment. We went over a weekend during the pandemic. The only social distancing was that we couldn't use the bathroom. They did not monitor how many folks were coming in. Being a new place, everyone was excited to try it. The tea is wonderful! Very fresh. They have a great selection. But, the wait was extremely long. We waited over 30 minutes to get our drinks. Thinking that was just because it was the weekend, we ventured during the week. We ordered on-line to assure our drinks would be ready. They were, but we didn't read the fine print that even the fresh teas come with milk foam. Really don't like milk tea at all! They were very nice about exchanging it for fruit tea with bubbles. However, when we got our drinks, there were no bubbles. They did remake the drinks. I will head back in a few months to see if things improve. But, having been to many bubble tea places around the country-I'm disappointed. read more

I love bubble tea and have been to just about every other place and this is the best I've had- so I'd love to give them a higher rating. However, the service was AWFUL! It took 40 min (you read that right) to get our tea and when we did get it, the order was wrong. When I complained about the lengthy weight, they were rude and didn't apologize. Then my re-made drink didn't even have ice in it and my daughter had ordered hers without milk foam, which they added to her re-made drink. It's very expensive and I am willing to pay for such good tea with real fruit chunks- again, the quality of the product is high. Also, it's the height of covid and while everyone was wearing a mask, they didn't enforce social distancing at all- there were too many people in the store. I hope they get their act together and get more organized or they will not last long. read more

There was plenty of seating, and we were showered with a bunch of menus when we got to our table. I wish the host would've told us about the lunch special, but we figured it out. It's a decent deal: choose an entree from their list or any ramen (that's what we were there for); get an appetizer from their list of 4 and a drink (just Thai tea or "Amazing Lemonade") for free (you can upgrade for $3.49 to what they call a "Top 9" drink. Our picks... Apps: Gyoza dumplings - hands down the best I've tried in some time. They're deep fried (but not greasy!) and sitting on the most delightful, thick scallion, sesame, onion dressing. I almost licked the plate! Veg spring rolls - ok, but not in the same universe as the dumplings. Entrees: * Katsuobushi Pork Ramen -- a spicy, smoky porky dreamy noodle dish. Wow. Flavor explosion! This is not for the dieting or health conscious, but it's soooo good. There's some serious pork belly inside! I've never had corn in ramen, but it's a nice, "cooling" moment in all that. The 1/2 marinated egg is lost in this dish - but bamboo shoots o & scallions are nice. * Shoyu Chicken Ramen - hard to hold a candle to the house specialty, which is clearly pork, but the chicken is nicely spiced and grilled (it really tasted smoked IMHO). The broth is flavorful. **Tons of noodles in both ramen dishes. We had leftovers. Really didn't like the cloyingly sweet Thai iced tea. Wished they had a hot tea lunch option. Our server was fine. Nothing really standout. The place was busy - both with people and a steady takeout/delivery business. And it's easy to see why! We'll be back.

I ordered the build-your-own bowl, which came out to around $13. For the base, I did half sushi rice and half organic spring mix. I added two scoops of protein: tofu and chicken. For mix-ins, I chose cucumber, carrots, and wakame seaweed, then topped it with ponzu sauce, pineapple, edamame, and shredded nori for crunch. Overall, the bowl was definitely filling and felt like a good value for lunch. I did expect the chicken to be warm, but it was served cold, and the tofu was uncooked, so the proteins were a little disappointing and bland on their own. Mixing everything together helped a lot, especially to distribute the sweet and tangy sauce throughout the bowl. I would return, but I'd probably make some adjustments to my bowl choices next time.
