What a great place to discover. During a recent trip to Cary, NC we were looking for a decent place for seafood and happened to read positive reviews on Yelp for TrySeafood. The place is tucked into a strip mall on the corner of Walnut Street and Tryon Road. We decided to eat in, but most of the traffic seems to be take out. I had the 8 piece Jumbo Shrimp and my wife had fried shrimp and scallops. Both were excellent and more than sufficient for our appetites. We talked to the owner as we ate and discovered most of his recipes come from his wife's family in South Carolina. Will definitely put this on our list of places to return to when we make a return trip back. read more

Great customer service and the food is absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this restaurant

first time. service was great! food was good but so salty it was inedible. threw $40 in the trash. maybe try again, but I doubt. the only positive was Mac and cheese was good. the only thing to eat. threw salty away, made a sandwich. was really looking forward to good seafood. disappointing. read more

Visited this place for the first time today with family and it won't be the last. Everything from the food, service and cleanliness of this establishment was impressive. The owner was nice and really appreciated our business. Now about the food. They have the best fried catfish and Mac & Cheese in the area and my 6 yr old son agrees. If you are in that area you should give this place a try as you will not be disappointed. read more

I went on 05/10/24. The service was quick. My husband's catfish and coleslaw were seasoned well and tasty. My son's rasta pasta was delicious. However, my shrimp and grits was not good at all. The portion size was great but the grits and shrimp had NO SEASONING!! The grits had absolutely no salt. The grits and shrimp tasted like cheesy water. My hubby said the broccoli they had in the middle smelled foul. Super disappointed in this dish since it cost $15 and I ended up having to eat part of my family's dinner. I will not order that again. read more

Sandwiched between an açaí bowl place and a gym, this gem was unexpectedly outstanding! 1. Service was so friendly and attentive! 2. Food was perfect. I had the bang shrimp appetizer. The breading on the shrimp was just right and tossed in a spicy sweet sauce. Probably the best hush puppies I've ever had. Husband had the wings tossed in buffalo. He said they were just the right amount of spicy and super crispy breading. Honey cornbread is an absolute must. It's unlike any I've had before!! We can't wait to go back and try more items from the menu. read more

I've been going there a few times and ordering different stuff from the menu. I can confidently say they've nailed it! It doesn't matter you order dine-in or to-go. It doesn't matter you order a lot or just snack bites. Every time, everything I ordered is done perfectly. This place has quickly became one of our favorite places to dine. I only wish they have oysters!! read more

I hesitated in submitting this review because I want them to do well but I've been there twice in the past month and the wait was entirely too long both times. We ordered 5 piece catfish at 7:17 pm after waiting 10 mins to order. After repeating my order to 2 ppl 3 times, the manager asked for my receipt to give me a credit but they hadn't printed it and said they'd give it to me. Another lady and I saw an order that had been there on the counter for awhile. The young lady called me up for my order which was the one that had been sitting there for at least 10 mins but she swore it had just come out. I left at 8:05 pm with whiting not catfish and no credit to my card because the owner said I misunderstood her. This was a wasted 30 minute drive from Raleigh! Really disappointed! read more

TrySeafood - Seafood Near Me - Cary, North Carolina

We went around 4:00 on Friday to beat the crowd. The place was super clean and didn't smell like a seafood place. We met a few people in line that said they ate there 2-3 times per week!!! We ordered oysters, calamari and shrimp and grits. Everything was cooked perfectly, DELICIOUS and super FRESH!!! We dined inside, but there was outdoor seating too. We watched a steady stream of people walk in and order. Very popular place even before the rush. Glad we came early! We appreciate the owners being so attentive and friendly. They put a lot of effort into providing a great atmosphere and serving good quality food. Thank you!! read more

The food is amazing! It was fresh and well worth the price (which is not bad)! Definitely on the list to return! read more

Great Shrimp Poboy and Shrimp Quesadilla. Such a wide and varied menu! Can't wait to come back to try more!

Fried catfish best I have eaten in North Carolina. Service very good. Cafe environment.

Food was excellent. Fried shrimp are very large and fresh. Best chicken wings I have had in years. They also know how to serve fries, hot and crispy. The owners provided a warm and inviting environment. We will be back. read more

We are newbies to the area and have ordered from here three times and each time, the food has been hot and delicious. We order take out. The staff is very friendly. This will continue to be our go to for wings and fried catfish. read more

I was really excited to try this place, but had a pretty average experience. I ordered the fried shrimp which was on the greasier side and the fries are really thick cut which isn't my favorite. For the price, I really think entrees should include fries and slaw. The best part was the service, everyone was really friendly. read more

Good fish. The best fish is the fish you catch when you fish with a fishing pole and hook. read more

I was out shopping with a friend in the area and we decided to scope out a place for a late lunch. I went on Yelp and discovered this gem of a restaurant. First of all, customer service from the time we arrived was friendly. Scott greeted us warmly and told us to let him know if we had any questions. The menu has all the standard favorites, fried catfish, shrimp, whiting, oysters, etc, but they also have rasta pasta, jerk lobster and turkey wings (only on Sundays usually but they had them today as well). In any case, after a long time trying to decide what to order, we decided to share an order of the crab cake poppers which were divine! We each ordered catfish, jumbo shrimp with mac and cheese and collards. Unfortunately, the mac and cheese was not ready so we substituted fries. The food was hot and fresh. Fish and shrimp had a tasty coating on them and were cooked to perfection. Collards were delicious and fries were hot and crispy. We are so glad that we discovered this Black owned business. Scott made our visit that much better. He made great suggestions and provided the friendliest and best customer service. This was my first visit but it won't be my last! read more

I got sweet chili crusted shrimp and scallops with Cajun fries! Delicious 10/10 would recommend. It was just the right amount of heat in the sweet chili glaze and the fries were seasoned perfectly. The couple that owns the restaurant were very present and friendly making sure we got everything we needed. Outstanding food and service overall! read more

Great food! Great service! Delicious catfish and shrimp and reasonable prices. Staff is very kind.

Great food and service!!! A little small inside but the staff definitely will make accommodations for you.

Met the owners Gina and Scott - these people are fantastic. I am a home grown Nawlins' (New Orleans) guy and their poboy is amazing and the coleslaw outstanding. Hard working family, unbelievable customer service - nicest people you'll ever meet. You are gonna love it!! read more

We really liked our food a lot, and we ordered a wide variety for 4 adults and two kids. Everything was very tasty and the teriyaki salmon may have been the best. They appear to still be getting their footing with the running of the location. I called and was placed on "hold," but she just set the phone down. After 5 minutes of listening to her chatting with customers and the cooks, I hung up and ordered online. Our online order said it would be ready in 20 minutes and it took more like 40-45 minutes. I will definitely try this place again and hopefully, they will have sorted out the management component because the food was very good. read more

Happy to find this place. Saves me a trip to Raleigh to get seafood, especially catfish. I ordered 4 piece catfish, slaw and corn bread. Wanted to try the collards, but they were sold out. Catfish was phenomenal! Perfectly seasoned and fried just right! The guy at register was super friendly also. Only reason it's a 4.5 is my cornbread wasn't in the bag! I should've checked before leaving. I will definitely go back! read more

This restaurant is a hidden gem located in Cary. We were looking for a seafood restaurant and I remembered seeing an ad for TrySeafood. Well, what an amazing introduction to not only fresh tasting seafood, but the flavors are outstanding. We had jerk red snapper, grilled red snapper and it was awesome. Also the menu is not limited to seafood. Just go in and you won't be disappointed with any selection. read more

My family and I love TrySeafood! Their food is amazing. My favorite is the shrimp and catfish and my hubby loves the veggie bowl with shrimp. He typically won't eat shrimp unless they are fried, but he loves the way they season and grill their shrimp. Their cornbread is like a dessert . It is so good read more
