We packed everything ourselves so we took responsibility for breakage but only 2 glasses were broken in a box where I did not pack enough newspaper around them. They were scheduled to begin at 8AM on a Thursday and 4 men and the owner of the company showed up right on time. The owner left after checking in and telling me we were in capable hands. Everyone seemed to know each other and they worked like a well oiled machine. I could not believe how much each man carried. Sometimes they would put 6 heavy boxes on a dolly or one man would handle a huge chest of drawers. They worked like demons and took minimal breaks. The truck was loaded by 11:30AM and they were at my new place by 12:30PM and ready to unload. They knew right where to go and what to do but there was some delay because the complex did not initially unlock one of the doors. They had to park the truck outside the building and carry everything through the parking garage, through an interior door and up 4 floors on an elevator. Then they had to carry back the same distance because our apartment was at the end of a hallway. We had a complex bed and set of office furniture that had to be disassembled and reassembled on site and that took some extra time. The work was done by 4:30PM and they billed by the hour for the 4 man crew. The cost was a bit more than originally quoted by that was the nature of the work. Everyone worked hard all day with great efficiency. As we left our old house, the last thing they said to me was to check and make sure we had not forgotten anything and I walked through the house to be sure. In my haste, I overlooked 2 boxes which I later took in my car the next day but more importantly, I overlooked a safe that I could not lift. I called the company 2 days later and explained what happened. they told me they had a crew working in the same retirement complex and sent them over to pick up my safe and stand at no extra charge. We were lucky so originally we were scheduled for 3pm but they were able to come at 1pm. They were able to pick up from two locations for us, then drop at 1 location. They disassembled and reassembled some large items for us (desk, bed). The fee is by hour so you can ask them to do more or less depending on your budget (you could reassemble things yourself to save money/time). It was the most expensive short distance move I've ever experienced, even 4 years later. I still don't understand how did they manage to spend so much time. Regardless of what was actually required to load and unload my stuff, even if everything was well packed and prepared and no stairs to fight, gents worked very slow and sat in the truck doing nothing. I had my belongings moved 4x the distance and it was 40% cheaper just a year prior to this move and a few times after this move years later. Perhaps booking a 1 bedroom move when you actually have 3 bedrooms would somewhat speed things up because they won't be allocating entire day to your move and doing their best to charge you for 8 hours in the end because there are no other moves to do in the same day. Finally, Google reviews have all disappeared who knows why and FYI, moving companies are consistently guilty of paying for positive reviews and removing negative ones, so do not trust those, especially 5* short reviews praising how everything was great in a few sentences with no substance. *** Funnily, business owner replies minutes after posting this: "3 yrs later ypu leave a review. As others mentioned they offer a discount for cash payment, and I was quited $145 an hour for 2 movers for the 2.5 hour minimum for my job. They were very flexible on timing compared with other companies. On the day of the move I let them know I was ready earlier than booked and they accommodated. They also came with 4 movers instead of 2 at no additional fee and got the whole job done in 45 minutes.
