My piano sounds great after our first tuning. There were a couple of keys in particular with issues that are now sounding great.

Tom is an friendly, easy going guy who knows how to tune a piano well! He was prompt, communicated before he arrived to confirm, and goes right into assessing and tuning the piano upon arrival. His price is fair and reasonable, and it's easy to schedule an appointment through his website. The piano sounds sounds so much better! We will continue to schedule appointments with him going forward. read more

Tuned the piano really well; we also had a pedal issue that he fixed for us. He didn't have the exact part so he came back the following week at no charge. Will absolutely be using Great Northern Piano again! read more

Tom was very communicative prior to the tuning, and a pleasure to work with, all-around. And the piano sounds great! We'll certainly be using him for years to come. Thanks! read more

Had a 2 part tuning since the piano had not been tuned for over 30 years. Tom was very punctual. Great communication!

We are very happy with the tuning and cleaning by Tom. Tom showed up on time and was professional and communicative through the whole process. I went about my day during the tuning and cleaning, so didnt pay much attention to how the piano was being tuned. Once Tom left, I found time to sit down and play on my piano. Wow! We have a pretty old Steinway, and it has been tuned by 4 different tuners since we owned it in the last 6 years. And it has never sounded better! Tom brought our piano back to its former glory! Thank you thank you thank you! read more

Tom responded quickly to email -- and, to my surprise, suggested that I schedule LESS time that I thought my piano might need. After our previous tuner retired, it went too long without service. Tom pointed out that issues like a sticking key were often minor, and he would be happy to do an initial tuning and give recommendations. On the day of the tuning, he was slightly delayed by traffic and let me know that; great communication! The service was very professional and now the piano sounds great. Sure enough, the sticking keys are resolved. I've already booked a future tuning appointment! read more

Excellent service. On time, polite, efficient, thoughtful. Really nothing bad to say at all.

It is very easy to book appointment online and well communicated in advance. Very satisfied with the tunning result.

Tom did a great job getting my newly acquired piano in shape with an honest assessment of what I need to do to make sure it stays that way. Thanks so much! read more

Ditto to all the other 5 star reviews. A pencil had fallen into the keyboard and I didn't know how to get it out. Had been a while since I'd had a tuning and really didn't think I needed it but since he was coming... In any case, he found the pencil and tuned the piano. I didn't realize how much better it could and does sound. read more

Timely, professional and effective at tuning our baby grand piano. I do recommend them

It was very easy to schedule needed maintenance with Tom, and he arrived exactly on time and got right to work. I was worried that the old piano I just moved from my parents' home to mine would be in terrible shape, and was prepared for Tom to sell me on a bunch of further work; but he cleaned it and tuned it right up and it's sounding great! I would absolutely recommend Great Northern Piano, and I look forward to having Tom tune our piano again. read more

Tom was recommended by a friend who is a piano teacher and a concert pianist. So I knew he knew what he was doing. He tuned my piano with skill and expertise. He even offered to return when I asked him a specify question which I actually answered myself. I'd definitely recommend him as an excellent piano tuner. read more

Tom did an amazing job with my piano! My piano had a few muffled sounding keys, a few clicking keys, and generally needing a nice tuning after a move. It sounds so much nicer and plays so much more consistently without the clicks and muffled notes. He followed up to make sure the piano was in prime playing shape after the tuning as well. I will definitely be hiring Great Northern Piano again when my piano needs its next tuning. read more

I needed a major tune up on a very old grand upright piano and needed a few ivory keys repaired. I wasn't sure what to expect because there were not many yelp reviews for Great Northern Piano, and later found out that was because Tom recently moved to the area. The first thing that impressed me about Great Northern Piano was how easy it was to schedule an appointment! Just go onto the website and pick your service, and the available times pop up to choose a convenient time. Tom showed up right on time, and was very professional and friendly. Tom looked over the piano and gave a very reasonable estimate on the time and cost. I felt like the tuning and the repairs were top notch, and I highly recommend Great Northern Piano! read more

I have never hired a piano tuner/fixer before in my life but I know that anytime I need to do this in the future I will contact Tom at Great Northern Piano. He was on time and appeared to do a very thorough job tuning and fixing the piano we got from a friend that needed it stored for a year or more while our kids get to use it for piano practice since they just started lessons. When we first moved the piano in this house it was out of tune and had sticky keys. I made the appointment about 4 weeks after moving the piano as recommended and after Tom did his work on it the piano sounds great and no more sticky keys! read more

Tom did a great job and my son who is a pianist is very pleased with the tuning. I am thrilled because that is not always the case. We also appreciated his wearing a mask and being so very considerate of everyone's health. Looking forward to having him back soon. Thank you! read more

Showed up on time and performed a professional turning and our Piano has a nice Tune even after about a month.

Replied promptly and showed up as promised. So nice to have the piano tuned up. Lovely!

Tom did amazing job in tuning our piano. I absolutely felt the difference after the tuning. 100% recommend!

Tom's assessment and care for our piano was top notch. He brought it back to pitch and tuned it beautifully after several others did less than stellar jobs. My 11 year old keeps exclaiming how good it sounds after he plays, so I'm certain he'd give Tom five stars as well. I was particularly impressed by Tom's approach to both customer service and care of the piano. He was easy to book with, professional and kind. When he realized the piano needed a significant pitch adjustment, which would take longer than just a tuning, he checked in with me first to make sure time wasn't an issue. Then, he very carefully and thoroughly brought the piano back to speed. Some tuners we've had rushed through the process, and it was evident in the results. Tom put in the needed time and our piano is better as a result. We will absolutely be using him as our go-to tuner from now on. read more

Tom was prompt, efficient and affordable. The piano hadn't been tuned in 4 years or so and he had to spend a little extra time on it. It sounds great and I would use his services again. read more

Tom from Great Northern Piano was an apprentice, technician and representative of my business Floating Piano Factory in NYC for 2.5 years, from December 2015 to June 2018. I hold a PhD, am a registered piano technician with 18 years experience, and my standards are high when it comes to those I work with and mentor. From the very beginning, even as a novice, he represented FPF with the highest levels of professionalism and a steadfast commitment to excellence. Tom was featured in an article about our business in the Wall Street Journal (in which he and our operation were reviewed quite favorably). From the very start and until he moved to Seattle just recently he earned my respect day after day, diligently working to maximize the potential of every piano he touched, and showing loyalty and trustworthiness as a colleague and friend. While it's sad to see a wonderful associate such as Tom move on, it is also exciting and fun to watch his progress. I recommend that you choose Tom at as your piano technician if you are looking for the very best. read more

Tom did a great job tuning an old restored A.B. Chase upright that I've owned for 20+ years and hadn't had tuned in well over three years. His scheduling system made it easy to schedule his visit. He clearly understands he work and was very thorough. The piano sounds SO much better now. He also gave me a good explanation of the piano's condition and what to expect given its type (upright) and age. Very profession and much appreciated. I look forward to him coming back to keep it in great shape. read more
