Had been a while since I'd had a tuning and really didn't think I needed it but since he was coming... In any case, he found the pencil and tuned the piano. Tom responded quickly to email -- and, to my surprise, suggested that I schedule LESS time that I thought my piano might need. After our previous tuner retired, it went too long without service. Tom pointed out that issues like a sticking key were often minor, and he would be happy to do an initial tuning and give recommendations. On the day of the tuning, he was slightly delayed by traffic and let me know that; great communication! The service was very professional and now the piano sounds great. I have never hired a piano tuner/fixer before in my life but I know that anytime I need to do this in the future I will contact Tom at Great Northern Piano. He was on time and appeared to do a very thorough job tuning and fixing the piano we got from a friend that needed it stored for a year or more while our kids get to use it for piano practice since they just started lessons. When we first moved the piano in this house it was out of tune and had sticky keys.
