My wife and I are addicted to their Thai Fried Rice. It has veggies and basil in it which makes it unique. You can order the spice level 1-5. You can choose your protein, shrimp, pork or chicken. Unless you're a person that can handle your Scoville level high, don't go beyond a 3. I order the pork fried rice at a spicy 4 level and my wife gets the spice level 5 for her shrimp fried rice. Stopped in a bit close to closing but the staff was very sweet and whipped up a curry with generous amounts of shrimp to go, poured us butterfly pea drinks (the kind that change color when edible acidic liquid is added - super cool and your kids will love it), and it was ready extremely quickly. Fan-freaking-tastic Went with the family, a party of six, and had wonderful service from a sweet and very capable waitress. We did a family style dinner with the sweet and sour chicken, pineapple curry, chicken pad thai, and the appetizer sampler. All of the food was delicious, well prepared, and presented nicely. We've been to a couple dozen thai restaurants around the country and this is far and away our new favorite. Do yourself a favor and try them out. I got salad rolls and it was about 8 pm at this point, an hour before they closed. My hard core salad roll lovers know that they typically are prepackaged. I've only been there once so maybe this is what they do every time but I got to watch them cut and make everything from scratch. It mimicked the experience of getting a home cooked meal from your mother, and it was apparent that they cared for us. We tried every other Thai place in Sandy to test their salad rolls and though all of them were good, Try My Thai was definitely the most comfortable, homelike, and at least at that time of night, the most delicious. For a small town with two Thai restaurants, I'm surprised this one is still open. The decor is 90's youth group hole in the wall, and the food is a depressing let down. We've been long time patrons. I understand Covid has changed many things. But we had a six entree and two appetizers order and I could see a big difference. Portions were a little smaller, chicken was tough and noodles were half stuck together and presentation was let's say not so pretty. All these things are simple experience issues. So flavorful! This was our first time trying this restaurant since we moved to Sandy this summer. You can tell they take pride in their dishes. We ordered Crab Fried Rice and Orange Chicken. The Orange Chicken was hands down the best I've ever had. Juicy white meat chicken and the sauce tasted like it was made of pure fresh squeezed oranges, none of that sticky, chemically flavored sauce that everyone is used to. Crab Fried Rice had real chunks of crab it was such a nice surprise, tasted very fresh not fishy at all, and the rice and veggies all around it had some interesting spices mixed in - we will definitely be ordering that again next time. All in all, I'm really disappointed we didn't eat here sooner. Great service also, and the girl who was cooking in back looked to be about 20 years old, good on her for making some really memorable meals. read more

I have been here a few times. The food here is very inconsistent. The first time I was here, the food was decent. The next time I was here, I ordered the same thing at the same heat level (spicy) and it was mild at best. The following time when I came, I ordered one heat level higher and they put all the spice in one area of my plate. The food in that area was unbearable and there was no flavor for the rest of the plate. While I did try to to mix the food up to season the entire dish, it did not mix well. I would have looked past this incident, except the waiter at this establishment taunted me about my lack of handling heat, and I should stick to ordering food much milder. read more

I'm not a big fan of sweet, cloying curry. When I asked nicely to make my red curry less sweet and good and hot, they said they wouldn't have to change it, because they don't make it too sweet. Oh and I gamely said four stars. Here in Sandy, coming back from the mountain, I was darn hungry and wasn't expecting a whole lot. One, I'm a jerk for assuming, and two...my lord, four stars hit like a fiery truck. And no, it wasn't too sweet, it was just right, and the pork was big, juicy pieces and the veggies were crispy yet nicely cooked. I found myself loose in East County recently and ventured back. I tried the Panang curry, with tofu because I've eaten too much meat this week in the process of eating out a LOT because I'm moving. I went for five stars. My sinuses aren't congested anymore. I cried a little. They also press the tofu enough so it doesn't make the curry watery, which is a huge plus if you ask me. Service is fine, not trying too hard or indifferent...comfortably rural Oregon, and the Thai coffee is excellent at cutting the heat. It's worth it if you're in Sandy, and it's kinda worth a trip because this is a diamond in the rough out in the sticks. Just don't expect sweet bland curry, you're not getting it here...and five stars will make even the spice hound cry a little. They're tears of joy. read more

I discovered Try My Thai Restaurant about a month ago and have eaten there at least 4 times since. The food is first rate, as is the service. The restaurant apparently got taken over by a Thai family in Sept. of 2014 and they do everything themselves. Everyone is very friendly, the restaurant is very clean and the prices are more than reasonable. Not only that, you get a free mini dessert with each entree! I really like this restaurant, the food is delicious, the staff is nice, and we like the cute decor. The peanut sauce is good, but be weary when ordering the food is generally on the hot side. My only concern is the kitchen. They have a bar style kitchen customers can see, and sometimes the kitchen dosen't always look the cleanest.
