I've always heard that Trunks was a sketchy place but never tried it out until recently. I wouldn't rave about this place but I do like it. It's not a bad bar to hang out with a friend and talk whilst having a drink or 4....the music does get a little loud sometimes but it's like that at all the WeHo bars. Baileys on the rocks is 7 dollars vs. the 9 you will pay at the crAbbey. The mens bathroom is a little small so plan ahead so you don't get caught in a line doing the pee pee dance. They have 2 pool tables in back to show off your cue stick skills. P.S. Yes this is a homo hangout....if gay, lesbian, drag queens and/or trannys make you feel the fear then this is not the place for you. read more

Whenever we make our way to West Hollywood, my friends are always adamant about coming here. I always have a great time here, the drinks are cheap, and the vibe is good. However, the bartender can either make or break your experience. Our bartender, Amit (we made sure we got his name before we left) was just plain rude, stuck-up, pompous, & lacked a personable attitude. If you wanted to see a real life douchebag, his name is Amit. When we arrived, our party hung out near the bar area. Amit told our group to move so that other people could easily order drinks. The bar wasn't crowded at 8:30 pm and if he didn't want us to hang out in his section of the bar... then don't put bar stools in that area! Secondly, he was always on his cell phone (probably because the bar wasn't busy). So trying to get his attention for drinks was difficult. However, when he finally saw that you needed help... Amit continued to finish his text before helping the patrons. Depending on who you are and what you look like, Amit would decide on how much alcohol or lack of alcohol he'd pour in your drink and whether you were served first or last. This didn't happen with my party, but two brown people were patiently waiting to get served and when Amit saw his white friends walk in, he skipped over these two people and immediately hugged and served his friends drinks before them. Annoyed and upset, these two men walked out of the bar. Lastly, we had a few people who were our designated drivers of the night. So when we would ask for water, Amit had that face of disgust and annoyance. You can easily see it on his face and when he realized it, he switched over to the fakest smile I've ever seen. We were so annoyed we went to another bar after only 45 mins being in Trunk. Amit probably won't get fired or even reprimanded, but my party and I had such a terrible experience at Trunks (for the first time) I actually had to write about it. The rest of the night before and after Trunks was epic, but if we could erase one memory from last night... it would be that time I went to Trunks and had a bartender named Amit. read more

The drinks were pretty strong (I am told), I drank wine, and cheap. I've never seen a vodka tonic served in a stein before - I thought that was quite novel. The place was nice and not too crowded. Bartenders were very friendly and so was the crowd. There were a couple of pool tables and a D.J. playing some cool tunes to enhance the mood just right, not too loud. This place is ALWAYS crowded girls and gays alike! Haha. I must say its an awesome spot simply because the drinks are super cheap and super strong. Lol if the bartenders know you (which i usually stick to one) they make the drinks super strong...Although all of them make them really strong regardless. The ONE thing i love about gay spots is that they're not stingy with their alcohol and they don't overcharge. You could pay $6 for svedka and redbull or $5 for cranberry vodka and they make them really strong. I would strongly recommend you visit. read more

Oh Trunks! I struggled with rating you because I LOVE sudo-divy bars with pool tables, stiff drinks, always a place to sit, and bartenders that actually talk to people and know their customers like in the old days. I almost gave you three stars for your patrons - it's a toss up. We've met many a good people in my few months frequenting Trunks. But I've also encountered sex in the women's single bathroom (ugh!) and men that are a little too touchy feely where as I never thought my boys would have to defend my honor in a gay bar!! Maybe a security guard would be nice as over the months your popularity has increased and I'm sure you could afford it!! But you got four - because for the most part everyone is out to have a good time, is unpretentious, is a mixed crowd (age, race, gender, orientation) - it's like being at UN, and the music is just fun. One night, it's quiet and you can play pool, the next night, there is a b-day party, the place is packed and folks are laying on the bar taking body shots. We got what we were looking for here - a dive gay bar. Fun pop music from the 90s. Older crowd that was definitely cruisey. Strong drinks. Excellent people-watching from the open front window looking out on Santa Monica Blvd. It was quiet enough on a Wednesday night for an old friend and I to come here to catch up over a few drinks. We couldn't quite figure out what the deal was with the condom bucket by the door. It was empty. Is it supposed to hold used or unused condoms? Trunks was packed last Friday night. They were doing some sort of giveaway and we walked into a raffle. Half naked gay men were everywhere trying to get drinks from the tiny bar, playing board games and causing general mayhem. At first, I thought it was a lot bigger but realized it's because there were mirrors everywhere. We left fairly quickly because it wasn't worth trying to battle to get a drink. Two words: CHEAP DRINKS!!!! This place is so deceiving, it looks so small on the outside but it's way bigger on the inside. They have pool tables, TVs, plenty of seating and good music. Trunks is the go-to spot of one of my friends. I've only been here a few times, all of which have been positive experiences. Their drinks are pretty strong and they deceivingly have plenty of space inside the bar, as it goes pretty far back. Some people absolutely love the fact that there is a front patio where they can smoke. Unfortunately, if there's any draft at all, then the smell of cigarette smoke completely permeates the bar, which leads to allergies and itchy eyes. read more

I just recently moved to weho and I looove trunks! It's super fun and casual with the best music. The staff is so nice, especially Corey and Kaimi!! I literally will comeback bc of Corey alone. I lost my phone, he helped me find it, he is super friendly and makes awesome drinks, and he has a great uplifting attitude- although I'm sure there is a lot he deals with in this bar scene! Plus, there's always a little hispanic older woman that comes by there with her basket of roses, and my gay friend always gets me one, which was sweet :) Last time I was there, a cute gay Filipino guy and his white boyfriend came up to me and said "OMG, you're so pretty! Great Great drinks their drinks are well done, not overfilled with juice or soda, lots of alcohol and a splash of juice.. plus they serve their drinks in real glasses, yes made of glass, and they take credit cards ...so odd for clubs in LA--- where my experience in others is cash only. The place is older and same with the crowd, but woth this delicious drinks and no lines for the bathroom who wouldnt wanna go here before dancing Tha place is small, but always has space, some tables and tvs in the bar area, the decor has some cool chandeliers. Where else in west hollywood can you get a drink in a glass? and pay $4 for a cranberry vodka, $5 for a Tequila Sunrise, or $6 for a Mai Tai ...and yes you can pay with a credit card :) I definitely go there if going to west hollywood. read more

I love this place!! I went to college in Iowa and this place reminds me of the perfect dive/ down home bar. The drinks are always pour fairly, you get a decent amount of alcohol for the price. Honestly aside from the friendly atmosphere that the main reason I love it. Everywhere else in WeHo doesn't even compare with regard to alcohol prices. They have a small patio for smoking, which is great as you can't in many other bars in WeHo. The bathrooms rarely have a line (especially for females). They also have a large area with pool tables and the people who play are really friendly. I usually go on the weekends and it gets kind of crowded as the night goes on, but if you go early it is alot better. I have been during the week once or twice and the crowd was significantly less. I want to point out though, that even though it is crowded on the weekends, I have never gone there and had a bad time. Crowd is very mixed, I don't think you could categorize it as one specific type of people that go there. read more

I came here for WeHo's Halloween Parade and this place was a party! Naturally there was a long line to get in but the wait was well worth it. They have pool tables and people are dancing everywhere. The drinks were pretty strong and my favorite were the rum and cokes. The bartenders are very friendly! Other than Trunks, I love going to Fiesta! This is my favorite bar in WeHo! There are two awkward pool tables in the middle of the bar that can get in the way when it's crowded. There's also a breathalyzer test that you can take in the back and a vending machine that I never seen anyone use. The bathrooms are clean and it's not awkward like the one in Cantina. Most importantly... the drinks are cheap! They cost about $8 -$10 and they are pretty strong compared to all the other drinks in West Hollywood. The crowd tends to be older, less cruise-y, but the people seem to be a bit more genuine here. They play pretty poppy music but no one really dances. Random and rare occasions they have promotions and pass out free alcohol! I would definitely recommend this place if you're out with your friends and you just want a cheap strong drink and chat with them. read more

Okay - Trunks first of all should always be your pre-game party place because of its small cute size environment and sociable setting. The best part of it this place is their cheap drinks than the other clubs around the area. It's not a huge bargain but its a few couple dollars off. If you want to drink a lot then it becomes a pretty hefty price at the other clubs and this could be your invisible coupon for some percentage off your drink tab when you buy your drinks at Trunks. I have always found the setting to be particularly interesting - their is a toy train above the middle room where they have a few pool tables and their are mirrors on the ceiling to get a fast glance of maybe that hottie you don't want to get caught looking at (if your one of those people). They even have in the back an alcohol level tester and a vending machine for snacks. RIGHT? I got the munchies drunk one night and totally took advantage. Don't expect it to be glamorous or anything close to that because this bar almost feels like a cabin kind of hole in the wall type of place, but that doesn't mean its not awesome unless your ass needs to be seen in an upscale place, if so, then go somewhere else. I like it, always have, it is small but they somehow always play the good tracks I wish the other clubs would play. I find myself dancing in there a little - so its almost like a warm-up for the start of a good night. It would be awesome if they added a small dance floor somewhere even though there is no room, but hey its just a bar with good music and the boys are either a hit or a miss, depending on your type. There is all ages here from old guys to young so dive into it, if it seems like your type of place to hang before.
