I've been here quite a few times and each visit we always had a blast. Saturday afternoon without any plans, we ended up here. Just after lunch and looking for something to do, this place sounded good. Plus we were in the neighborhood. The other times I've been it was alway fun so today we were hopping to continue the fun. Well it did just that. First off, it was quite mellow when we walked in at the bar area. There were a few people while we were ordering. Bartenders was quite sweet. Remembered us from the last time which was nice. To our surprise, it happened to be Bingo that afternoon. Clearly none of us knew anything about it but hey, let's play bingo. The best part, it was free. Everything was supplied for you. Grab your games and dabber and go to town. The hostess with the mostess was amazing. She made the game more interesting. Maybe half an hour to it, the place picked up a lot. Pretty much people kept joining in with the games. Our group did win some rounds which was pretty cool. Prizes were a bit all over the place. A table which you choose what you want. Things rang from pillows, candies, sweets, to some intimate pieces...Lol.... It was hilarious. There was a few intermission for a little performance from the hostess. Lip sync for your life with some tips in hand. It was a fun afternoon not expecting anything. I think there's something that happens every now and then. Not sure what the schedule is like but we happened to stop by on a fun afternoon. Cheap drinks, free bingo and friendly crowd. What more can you ask for. Definitely will be back. read more

Karaoke Mondays! My friend, the amazing Quintin E., invited me out to The Bullet this week and I had a lovely time. IPAs and great tunes, what could be better?! Did I mention great prices on their drinks? Yep, that, too. The front area is fun with people taking turns on (or off) stage singing their hearts out. The back area is a bit more chill with screens so you can still sing along plus a firepit. Ya girl loves a good patio firepit. The Bullet Bar in NoHo East/North Hollywood, Los Angeles has been around for 40 years and owned by the amazing Michael Lara for the last 25 of those. As a longstanding all welcoming gay dive bar The Bullet has seen a lot of changes and growth including expansion to the patio area which holds several monthly themed nights and event including those with vendors, giveaways, demo and small shops. I would more than consider myself a regular usually stopping by at least once a week if not more. Enjoying my karaoke Mondays with my friend Benji and company with the amazing KJ Colin (tip your host). Flirting with my favorite bartender Kirby who host month Tuesday events including a special valentines inspired night this week. Drag Bingo Sundays are a must with either Roxxy Mountains, Volta Charge or Vi Agra (aka Sammy) who also makes great burgers on Sundays - I usually go the meatless route but load up on toppings and condiments as it's all complimentary (tip your cook). Events and themes range throughout the month, but several that are weekly. Friday nights and Saturdays tend to be the most packed as they'll open up additional bars in the front and back patio areas. Being a first name basis with the vast majority of the Bullet Bar crew including Adam, Tyler, Wiley and Fernando who are all great definitely makes it feel like a second home even on chilly nights or rainy days. On colder days/nights they have a powerful heater inside, fire pit + heat lamps outside. You can enjoy billard at the pool table in front, "Get Up On The Screen" with the #BulletBarLA (you might see a familiar face) including yours when you share you photo or video on Instagram or Twitter. The drink prices are incredible with a full bar and they have weekly specials on quite a bit. Good beers on draft including Bud Light, shock top, stella and a few others. Hard Seltzer, Hard Cider and Wine as well for non-beer enthusiasts. Typically they don't serve any food here throughout the week, but outside food is welcome or eating beforehand or after - you can sometimes catch food carts in front. The Bullet is a safe space and partners up with several promoters and services in Los Angeles. You can often get covid or HIV testing as well as vaccination services on select days and times. It's become a good mix of all ages, but definitely has it's veteran crowd. Usually never a cover unless an event night specifically including annual chili cook offs, mac and cheese cook-offs and/or nsfw themes (it's an lbgtq+ 21 & over bar) not for everyone but open to them. We highly recommend this bar. The old school, gay men's, Levi, Leather, cruise bars are a rare thing these days in the gay community. Most "leather bars" are rubber harnesses, fake leather, trendy nonsense. Not this place! It's dark, loud, smells of hot sweaty MEN! Cigars! Strong drinks! Friendly guys, and great service are all found here. My Husband actually is from NoHo and spent a lot of time here. So after he moved to Texas he had to show me this place. We came home to LA to vacation and brought our Harley Davidsons. The owner was so accommodating by allowing us to park right outside. Sock night was wild! I'm a native Texan and NEVER done anything like that before. What a great night. We did try other "Levi bars" but left them early to come back here. We personally want to thank the owner and front bar tenders for being so friendly and accommodating - you now have two loyal customers when we come home to LA from Texas. Pleasantly surprised. I'm not really a leather bar guy... but the bartender Kirk was absolutely fantastic (and gorgeous), the vibe was fun, ran into a lot of friends, had a good time all around. Would definitely return, and that sort of shocks my friends as I like, you know, clean-cut preppies. Had a great time at The Bullet for Karaoke on a Monday night. It's a tiny dive bar with a spacious back patio and fire pit! Lots of TVs everywhere that display the song lyrics for everyone to sing along with. They have big pours and friendly bartenders. KJ is super personable, entertaining and did a great job on keeping the party going! The community vibe here is super strong and everyone I interacted with was very friendly. I love seeing all the regulars get up on the karaoke stage and completely SLAY. You can select pretty much any song you want. There was a nice variety of people singing show tunes, metal, pop songs, and 80s songs. They also have a game where you will get bumped to the top of the list but your song is chosen for you. My stage fright could not handle that, but such a fun idea! My only issue was that some of the chairs inside were broken and I nearly fell off of one. There also isn't a of seating overall. It's a pretty cool bar but tends to lean towards an older crowd. I went for disco night and it was pretty tame overall everybody was just sitting and talking which was actually great but was looking for more excitement and went to cobra instead which was more of our tempo overall. Me and my friend are much younger than the crowd at the bullet. Pretty small it's definitely a cool place just if you're lookin for an older crowd this is your place. I've come a few times when they host events on Friday's/Saturdays. It does get really busy after 9pm & that's when the bar line gets really packed. It might seem like a good idea to keep your tab open because if you don't they will charge you a fee for making more purchases after that. Unfortunately, human error does happen & I've encountered that a few times when coming here. There has been times that the bartenders would overcharge my card or charge someone else's. So make sure to always ask for your receipt & double check your transactions. As for the bartenders they are a nice bunch who are very attentive & quick with the drinks. I have yet to be disappointed on any of my beverages. There are all types of people that come here but be mindful of the events that you come too because maybe it won't be your crowd if you come unaware. read more

Came here last night for the first time. Usually am going to the club down three blocks down but wanted to try something new. I was surprise and wasn't expecting the experience. I liked it and had a good time. Drinks were actually better than expected and not over priced. But be sure to wait in line for a while to get a drink on a busy night. Entrance fee was 6 dollars. Bar is amazing but the 2 single file lines they force you to use to get a drink completely break up the vibe. Makes me not want to come back. There is literally 700 square feet of unused space, very unsexy, the opposite of sexy actually, feels clinical, and while you're unfortunately waiting in a long vertical line breaking up the space, all the people trying to have fun ask you to move for them so they can try to get through to actually socialize with other non-line humans. Bar-lines are horizontal. They have been for centuries. It works. You press up against the bar. You don't take up the majority of the space queuing up while an empty space suspends in the middle. read more

This is definitely a gay hidden valley gem! I've known about The Bullet since before I moved to North Hollywood, but in the last year and a half I've been coming to more often since it's a 10-ish minute walk for me. On rough days I stop by and grab a couple drinks and head home. They have fun themed nights and the drinks for the most part are reasonably priced. I will say that the bar is pretty small, but that's what makes this place cozy... the patrons are usually pretty nice too. Recently they replaced the patio floor to concrete which is definitely an improvement. There's usually a taco lady outside on the weekends which is a great option incase you're feeling your drinks, but since I'm over by Magnolia and Cauhanga, I usually opt for the taco stand there. I feel like the food tastes slightly better and it's a dollar or two cheaper. read more

I am not a big fan of crowds, but I do come to events like Cock Sock on occasion and always have a blast. Way before the Bullet, another bar called The Signal, a men's leather bar back before the 1980's was in the same space with the same interior setup so the Bullet Bar is the long time incarnation of a Men's Neighborhood Gay bar with a soupçon of Leather ethic when the right set of factors come into play such as when a Gay leather organization decides to hold an event there. The Black & Tans, a Gay Uniform organization with a history of over 40 years, decided for the first time to change venue from Piston's in Long Beach to the Bullet in the Valley in order to hold their 20 plus year old "infamous" Wet Boxer Contest". Needless to say, the Bullet was extra festive since the contestants were running around only in their boxers & getting wetted down at first by the bar patrons at $1 per squirt from a spray bottle of water. All the money goes to a deserving charity decided by the B&T's. Later, there was an overhead shower of cold water to wet down the contestants more thoroughly & with all the heat in the Valley, getting wet was a blessing.. Judges present would "rate" them on how they presented themselves and declare the winner at the end of the contest where the first 3 winners got some nominal prizes. Everything was done in the spirit of playfulness & hilarity for a good cause. Usually, the Bullet takes on the guise of a downhome neighborhood Men's Gay bar where the crowds are smaller but friendly. The bartenders are welcoming & not like some of the more pretentious "queens" that can be encountered in West Hollywood. The drinks are stiff, but don't expect some artisan, mixologist style drinks that include some rare cactus fruit infused alcoholic Chicha fermented liquor from the high Nazca plains of Southern Peru or other such nonsense. Just get the well drinks & beers, and everything will be all right. The prices are more reasonable than what would be found south of the Santa Monica mountains, but then you are not paying for the decor here at the Bullet. If the dive atmosphere doesn't please you, maybe bringing your own Lalique, Baccarat, or Cěska will make you feel more comfortable "slumming" it. On Sunday, a generous older gentleman heads the grill in the patio so that there are hot dogs & their very nicely seasoned beef patties to make a hamburger with all the trimmings that you apply on your own. The gentleman gives a nice touch of grilling the bun to warm it up & crisp it a bit as well as grilling purple onions which are milder that the white onion variety. This cook knows the finer touches to making a good burger. A nice $3 tip or more would be highly appreciated. The hamburger tastes way better than it looks....somewhat like a home cooked hamburger that Mom used to make 40 or 50 years ago. This food is a great accompaniment to all the beer being served on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I was here on 3/1/24. I was served at the bar by Adam (listed as a manager on their website). I bought 2 bottles of beer and a rail cocktail and was charged the minimum, $20, since I paid with a card. I closed the tab, still left a $4 tip on the card for a total of $24, signed the receipt, drank my beer and left. A few days later I see a $60 charge on my card statement. The bartender apparently gave himself a $40 tip instead of a $4 tip (on a tab that was already overcharged because I had to pay the minimum). I have sent 2 emails to the email listed on their website and have called the bar and spoke to one of the bartenders. I have gotten no response which makes me believe this was not an error but likely done intentionally. Probably not the first or last time. If you visit this bar, I recommend keeping your receipt. read more

I'm the wrong person to ask about gay bars, since I have never understood the appeal, even as a gay man. Anyway, I happened to be in the area and needed to kill a little bit of time before my event, so I stopped in. Lots of looks from the regulars wondering who the heck I was, and being an introvert, I didn't exactly walk up and introduce myself. What struck me was the HUGE television above the pool table showing bareback porn. Sorry, I mean, I watch porn all the time and appreciate it too, but I don't need to see it at triple life size when I go out to a public place. It just felt in very poor taste and more akin to a bathhouse than a bar. I dunno - I guess I'm looking for a little bit more class for a gay establishment. Hadn't been the Bullet since pre-Covid but recently met a friend there to watch RuPaul's Drag Race. It was pretty busy but there were plenty of barstools for about 3/4 of the people. Very friendly, mixed crowd, mostly gay guys but some girls. People got really into the show which made it extra fun. They turned on the closed captions so I didn't miss a word (smart!) I couldn't believe how cheap a beer was but I wasn't about to argue. Might actually go again for next week's episode. read more

A gentleman claiming he was the owner of the bar was disciplining a patron at the bar he standing in area that was not mark as traffic only "no standing" and told this person to either move or leave the bar and said im the owner of the bar. I usually enjoy coming here but after last night it was a huge disappointment. It was super crowded but what really broke the vibe was how rude Wiley the bartender was to me for no reason. I ordered a second drink and was as polite as I could be and then he asked me if I wanted to use the same cup from my previous drink, I couldn't quite understand him because he was talking so fast and it was so loud I couldn't quite register what he was saying. Then he snapped "Yes or No!" in a snotty, condescending tone. "A man's no attitude bar?" My ass! I understand it gets busy and stressful dealing with so many people but Wiley didn't have to be such an asshole to me and take his bad attitude out on me. As a paying customer, he could've been alot nicer. This attitude earned Wiley a zero tip because that was what his customer service skills were at last night.
