The Eagle is a classic dive bar through & through. It's dark inside with movies on TV that are NSFW. It's also a LBGTQ+ friendly leather bar and happens to be one of the favorite spots of beloved Yelp SFV AMB Quintin. I stopped here on a whim with some friends on our way home from a night out. We didn't want the fun to end, so one last night cap was in order. Parking is a bit difficult, but we managed to snag a spot. There is a big bar in the center if the room and a smaller bar out on the patio. There are also two pool tables and a stage for various events. My friends ordered beer and I kept it simple with a vodka soda. They don't serve food but the bartender said outside eats are welcomed. The DJ was bouncing and the staff & patrons were friendly and welcoming. I like the vibe here and would come back. They host nightly events such as: RuPaul's Drag Race Viewing Party on Fridays. $5 Domestic drafts on Sundays, drink specials and free pool on Mondays, $6 Wells on Wednesday and various contests monthly. After dinner early nightcap lead us here. And by the way Silverlake was happening last night. All good, that's what a nice warm night does. It brings everyone out. Parking situation is a bit of a hassle. Not their fault as it's in a residential area so parking can be a challenge. It was just after 7 when we arrived and the crowd was completely different from the last visit. More mellow as it was still early. Makes it easier to get a drink at the bar. Pool table was already utilized which seemed to always be the case. There were a couple of people inside along the bar area but majority was on the outdoor patio. It was somewhat busy but nothing compared to how this place can be. Especially when there's an event. Drinks are always a good price. We got a pitcher of beer which had a cooling pack inside. The question of the night was, will this thing take up the amount of glasses we could get out of the pitcher...lol... I've been a good amount of time but honestly don't know if they have a dance floor or not. We always spend time on the patio. There's 2 restroom, one with the toilet which the line can get crazy. Eagle LA is a great place. It's open all seven days of the week as early as 4pm during the weekdays and by 2pm on Saturdays and Sundays. It's got a nice layout with a huge rectangular bar in the main center room and usually one to two bartenders on deck and a barback as well depending on the day or night of the week. On weekends and more senior events like Meat Rack Saturdays, Bluf leather formal event nights and Outlaw (western themed) you'll definitely find the outside-ish bar, closests to their patio open and even their back bar near the lockers available for their employees and first come first serve (bring your own lock). Additionally they have some coat racks across from the main bar. This place is stacked with a solid sound system, great djs, a stage for events including Eagle LA Live Sundays with a live bands from 4pm to 8pm on the last Sunday of every month. I've been a semi-regular at the Eagle for a few years. Especially the more I've surrounded myself with some great people and made new connections and friends along the way. I pop in a handful of times of month for either their Sunday Beer Bust, monthly Bear Happy Hour (first Thursday of every month), Cruise LA - an awesome vendor mart w/ performers and demos (every third Saturday afternoon), for special events, seasonal occasions and/or titleholder contest (Christopher Street West, Eagle LA Leather, Mr. Sister Leather, Regiment of the Black & Tans, Leather Bear LA, Bear(s) LA... which I actually competed in back in the fall of 2023 and more). A lot of LA based lgbtq+ clubs host events and gatherings here from Onyx to SoCal Leather to Avatar Club LA. Additionally a lot of local sports teams (Rebellion Rugby, Honey Badgers Softball Team, and Spread Eagle Dodgeball to name most) as well as organizations are displayed throughout on their walls in cases and/or in plagues, especially all the Eagle LA Leather titleholders. Restrooms are men's and a private single use all gender restroom. Take your pick of one of two billiard tables if you enjoy pool (a lot of pros play here, including a local league - friendly heads up). There's one table inside in the far back corner and one near the patio where it's open air pulled up gates. You can find seating seldomly throughout with chairs around the bars, bench lined around the main inside and back bar and some stools and tables or even make shift barrel tables through the patio. They have a full bar and typically good drink specials as well as prices for domestic, imports, tap or draft brews. It's cash only, but they do have two atms available (one near the dj booth) and the other next to a multi-arcade game. It's a 21+ queer leather bar, that said always enter with an open mind as anything is possible at the Eagle LA. Almost always fun and occasionally you may run into a celebrity like Doja Cat or John Waters, who me and my guy got to chat up for a little bit not too long ago. Really nice people. Give the respect you'd want to be give and remember people are people. Consent of all forms is the best practice and that parking is a journey, especially here on weekends after 6pm, but you can luck into some residential spots with a little bit of a walk. Bring your ID as they do card, more so for new faces and the less frequented. Pete works the door a lot and is a great guy. They don't serve food here, but outside food is typically okay and occasionally they do have food vendors like Sugar Daddy's Cookies and others. This is a great place however, you need to be careful when you're parking your car here because people are targeting bystanders to break their windows and steal their stuff from inside so make sure you Uber to this place but don't drive here. It's been happening a lot recently, and the bar hasn't done anything to protect their customers. read more

Eagle LA is a legendary leather gay bar to visit while in Los Angeles, and from my experience, there is no food being served here; the beer here, however, is served in a giant frosty mug, which was jus what I was looking for during a quick vacation visit, so I ordered two while watching a stand-up comedy performance. I haven't been to the Eagle in almost two years, so I decided to come back and try it out on a Wednesday night. It was $11 pitcher night. I got one pitcher and chilled in the patio with my friend. I don't find myself coming to the Eagle as much as I would like to. There are several factors to why I don't really come this way. In comparison to some of the other gay bars in Los Angeles, I find that it's harder to find parking here. On one side of the neighborhood, it's permit parking only. The other side is just overly congested and there's been a few times that I've spend up to 30 minutes looking for a spot. For event's like Off Sunset, you will not find me driving to this area. Eagle is also cash only. Their archaic systems is inconsistent. The last time I was at Eagle was for the Release magazine party, and I went to the bar 3 times, and bought the same drinks, but was charged different amounts all three times. Why?? I feel that you get more bang for your buck at other bars. Drinks seem to have a light pour here. Lastly, I've come here on random nights, possibly looking to talk to someone new, but I don't really get a lot of receptive responses. I get a more welcoming vibe at other bars. read more

Baby gays and black gays do not go. This bar is not friendly toward people of color, each time I've gone the bartenders have been extremely rude and even ignored me as I've tried to buy drinks. The Eagle bar has various spaces to accommodate different moods. There is the main bar with a huge square bar with stools lining the edges; a smaller adjacent more intimate manned bar space with Bootblack Bob on Saturdays for those who need to have their Dehners, Westco's, Chippewa's etc. given a high sheen; lower deck where there is a pool table for those so inclined. There is a patio where men can whoop out their custom cigars & pipes and have a leisurely, satisfying smoke with other burly men, bears, cubs, otters, even a twink or two. Eagle has a full bar, but there are non-alcoholic drinks such as water, sparkling mineral water, juices, coffee so those who want to abstain can still patronize this fine establishment of & for men. Sundays are the laidback days when short pants, "wife beaters", T's are the uniform of the day. If you want a more "formal" setting of leather, uniform, boots, rubber, etc., come on Fridays or Saturdays when leather themed attire is encouraged. Look them up in the Eagle website. There is fun & hilarity, too, like when the gender bending, transvestite Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence come to call. The Eagle should be on the list for historically important cultural sites in Los Angeles. The Eagle, Bullet, & the Faultline are the last of the down & dirty, basic, old line Leather bars which had their cultural origins in the 1950's when the old guard leathermen & motorcyclemen fresh out of World War II & Korean wars wanted to find butch male camaraderie in a space among themselves and away from the prissy, uptight, & sanctimonious. Came here during pride after some guy friends asked me to meet them there. Had no idea what it was or that it would be a fully leathered out boys club. I'm a tallish, femme WIOC and it was a curious sensation to be the only woman in the room with hundreds of men and yet feel so welcomed and safe. Having said that, I didn't stick around too long. I had a drink, a laugh with friends and security helped me out through the crowd. Part of being an ally and open-minded is letting communities have their own spaces. Why does every single place have to cater to every single person? Gay men deserve to have a place to themselves and not feel self-conscious about their kink. Omg! What a fun gay bar! My friend and I were having dinner across the street at the Bowery Bungalow (see review) and fell in love with the table next to us! When they were done, they invited us to join them at The Eagle for drinks. What a fun time! They were playing Ru Paul's Drag Race on these big jumbo screens they have! I seriously got my ENTIRE life. I love a gay bar sooo much better than a straight bar. You can have fun, get your drink on, and not worry about being hit on for your number, or worry about guys being gross. Its just a great time with no hangups. I love my gays and I love my drinks! This is an unapologetically seedy leather bar. When you walk in, expect a Black interior, bearded men, hard rock music, and raunchy gay porn on the TV screens. It might not be other guys' cup of tea, but it's just my kind of gay bar. The Eagle is the antithesis of West Hollywood. It's here where you're more likely to be ignored for being young, hairless, and twinky. The trough urinal in the bathroom can get cruisy sometimes. It's awkward at first, but make trips to the bathroom more interesting. Regulars here are older bears, they generally stay to themselves. Drinks are reasonably priced and cheap during happy hour. Being closer to midcity, I notice the patrons here tend to be more openminded and liberal than some of the barflies at The Bullet. read more

This bar is convenient and about 2 miles from my place in Hollywood. The crowd here is nothing like in WeHo. If you're into Leather & Hairy/Beefy men then you need to check this place out. I liked that there was plenty of space for moving around unlike some of the WeHo bars where you're all sandwiched and rubbing against each other...like vertical dry humping while making your way trough the crowd. It was an experience, even though a short lived one for us. We didn't stay long enough to find out what they were raffling off, but I remember them handing us a coupon/ticket for a raffle that night. It wasn't my kind of bar but I was curious to check it out for the first time. Drink prices are comparable to other bars in the area. I'm not sure about the parking situation, but I wouldn't recommend driving to a bar anyway. Take a cab, sidecar, lyft or uber. It's not worth a DUI.
