First stop on our night owl adventure. Still nice, clean fun place with good music. Staff is nice and great service. Drinks are good and strong (maybe we asked for double instead). We can abit early so not much happened, but we had good time.

Although I was sad to see The Brit leave, I'm so happy to see Men's Room arrive! I have to give credit to the Men's Room folks because every aspect of this bar is thoughtful and well done. The drinks are innovative but if you're like I am, you can enjoy a basic cocktail as well. The decor and service provided by top notch bartenders is spot on and the presence of this new bar, unexpectedly elevates the entire gayborhood in a way that was very necessary. I honestly didn't realize that our Long Beach LGBT+ community was missing an upscale bar like WeHo, Hillcrest, Palm Springs, etc and now that we have it, I'm so excited to go out on a Friday night or enjoy a Sunday Funday beverage in a beautiful atmosphere. Unlike neighboring bars, this establishment actually takes cards as payments.... such a relief!Take my advice and enjoy a refreshing cold one in the patio. Lastly, about the patio, the Brit's iconic phone booth is out there as a way to pay homage to the institution that was there before. Easy 5 stars!

I have been to the men's room several times since its opened and have always had a good time. They did a really good job with the upgrades and I love how they still have the phone booth from the Brit (the bar it was previously). The bartenders have all been friendly and drinks are good. It can get really crowded on the weekends and for pride there were just so many people everywhere that I actually ended up having a panic attack in the front corner of the bar (which was so embarrassing) Peter who was working must have noticed something was wrong and he came over to check on me and was able to calm me down and got me to a spot with air conditioning blowing and brought me water. I felt safe thanks to him. I haven't had a panic attack in public in a very long time so being around so many people in a new space was extra scary. So if Peter reads this, thank you again.

Been to this bar twice & I had a good time both times. Glad they have non alc beverages when I don't feel like drinking. The inside is very nice & I'm happy to see a decent amount of women.

This new space, Men's Room Bar is so cool! The space is well designed and inviting. Can't wait to keep coming back. And the best part, the drinks and service are great!

This is a fun place to hang out. The bartenders are nice and happy to give you ideas for new drinks or make your regular favorite. The front area is quieter and has nice couches so you can hang out, and the back patio lets you get outside without leaving the bar. Their restrooms are cute as hell. I've included a picture from one of them but you should definitely check them out for yourself. It's fun to see they don't take themselves too seriously. I'm excited to see how they do and can't wait to visit again.

This is the brand new sign for the men's room on Broadway next to the Mineshaft.

I say the last…read moreitem because it is a makeshift saloon adorned with swinging doors like cowboys of yesteryears passed through, both while coming and going. There is no way to identify the true identity of this bar, and I rather not try to define it. I recognize that people are no longer one chief identity, they are intersectional beings whose personhood is a sum of varied identities and thus there is no one size fits all label that any one person can adopt. I would like to think that this bar's value is that it is a sum of its many identities and when I tally these in sum I recognize this bar is mostly a great hangout place. In short, it is an awesome place! When i was in college, I used to go to the campus library. And there were these fellow students who piled on empty coffee cups on top of each other. This is to communicate to others how much time they have spent in the library. Strange to flex study time, but, people flex different things--- I can imagine a person flexing a perfect scarf, just red enough to complete their Snowman (or Snowperson?). And in this place, I saw shot glasses piled four tall. What were they flexing? Their right to party hard and correctly? Probably, or probably not. Again, I only celebrate the different peacock tail wings that others proudly fan. Parking was scarce. My friend Conrad and I had to turn on several streets to get lucky. This might indicate that this bar is for locals, but also Long Beach is known for its lack of parking. I am glad we looked for parking and found it. But also the turns we took to get lucky were not many, the whole experience lasted less than 15 minutes that is average parking space finding time. Conrad and I went to SweetWater Saloon to play pool. They have two tables and both were free. I met the first bartender who explain these facts. Yet still he asked me to buy a drink. I got a pineapple and vodka, it was on special, or more precisely, the well drinks were. What kind of irked me a little, was that Conrad also needed to buy drinks and he does not enjoy alcohol, so we needed to get him a soda. Bars by design are free to enter. Not everyone who enters has the capacity to pay for a drink (as we all know times can be hard) or wants to drink that night or may be abstaining, etc. So the policy to buy a drink in order to play pool for free is problematic, but I can see their side, but I do not think it holds water. I did meet a couple-- a guy and a girl. We started to take shots together. The shots were White Gummy Bear shots, and they were delicious. I highly recommend. The three of us started to play pool while we enjoyed shots (we did not stack the empties). And eventually, fun and engaging conversation ensued. Conrad waited on the side, I and the other two chatted. We forgot about the game. We were not taking pool shots. We just gabbed. Finally a patron came, and asked if we were still playing. Of course we are, I explained. It was not my turn, but I took a pool shot. I immediately sank the eight ball. The universe helped me with the joke. I am a bad shot, but the eight ball was aligned to a pocket, I made the shot easily. Good laughs were hard. I tell this story to highlight that this bar has people to chat and play with, and has pool, and it has regulars. If you are looking to meet friends for the night or for a lifetime this bar offers the opportunity, as long as you try, not all people do. The bar further has games to enjoy like Yahtzee and Uno. It also has tvs and jukeboxes. Meaning it has ample goods for all those looking for merry. It also accepts cash, which can be a drag. The bar also has strings of pride flags but not much else decoration. A second bartender and I got into a spirited debate. I wondered if this was a gay bar? And he pointed to the flags hanging on the walls. And I thought, I recently went to a bar with Halloween decorations, this does not make it a spooky bar it only makes it Halloween friendly. The fact that the bar has flags hanging, and almost nothing else, does not make it a gay bar. The bartender explained that it was in an area of Long Beach with great Pride, and next to an intersection with a paved walkway colored rainbow. I did not want to get annoyed. Just because a tailor is in Chinatown does not mean that he celebrates Lunar New Year. Meaning, that a space can certainly define a spot within its territory be but not always. I did not say this to the bartender. I share this to clear up any believe that this is a queered space. It is queer welcoming, but it is not a rainbow laced environment where queer people dominate. I really believe it is bar for all that are looking for a good time. I will go here again, looking for the same and there is enough here to help me find it.

The place isn't big. Bar counter on one side and a couple of hi tops table along the other wall. Doubt there's room for dancing when it's packed but I'm sure they'll make it work. The bartender working St Paddy's night was the sweetest. Very friendly which is always a major plus. We sat along the bar which was nice. Who ever was in charge of the music that night was great. A fun selection of upbeat music which the videos were also showing. You don't want to show up somewhere and the music sucks. Overall, it a fun little neighborhood dive bar. It seemed more like it was utilized with regulars as everyone seemed to know each other. I'm sure it picked up later on from when we arrived. But a fun little place for a drink. It's street parking if you're visiting.

One of the waiters came up so I just told him someone was in there. He literally gave me a dirty look before asking if it was a girl in there. He then shouted over the door asking if they were done. My partner said "Almost" but he reached for the handle opening the door into me to shuffle me out of the way anyways while saying "Well I work here." he barged into the bathroom while my partner was still inside but he at least wasn't indecent by this point. I was so mad, we left right after and I'm never going back. No part of that was okay he mentioned something about his shift almost being over to my partner while he was in the bathroom but that's no excuse to be so unbelievably rude in a place that's supposed to be inclusive. There's two on either side which does get pretty busy with a line as it's one per person and it's alway dirty. Don't know if anyone goes in there to clean during the nightly hours. Overall, the crowd is alway fun and lively. The last two times I've been I did noticed that it's still the college crew crowd as when I used to come in the early 2000. For a venue that clearly draws large crowds and sells tickets in advance, we expected a more organized and professional level of service. There were only two bartenders handling a packed bar, making drinks one at a time while also trying to support wait staff. The result was long waits and visible strain on the team. It also seemed like there weren't enough servers or kitchen staff to keep up with the volume. It took quite a while just to have our order taken--and significantly longer for the food to arrive. When it finally did, two of our four meals were incorrect, and one didn't come out until the rest of us were nearly finished eating. While we understand that busy shows can be challenging, advance ticket sales should give management a clear idea of how to properly staff each show. We also felt it was inappropriate for our server to attribute order mistakes to hearing difficulties, especially when it impacted accuracy and the overall experience. We came to celebrate a meaningful milestone together, and it was disappointing that service issues overshadowed what should have been a special brunch. Surprisingly, compared to other Thai spots, it's usually not overly packed and honestly I'm almost scared to say that because I don't want it to change. So far, our favorites have been the pad see ew, tom yum soup (medium spice), egg fried rice, fried calamari and the beef BBQ which was so good we immediately ordered a second plate. The mango sticky rice is also really good, but the portion is on the smaller side, so we ended up getting two orders since one plate is hard to share with more than 2-3 people. The restaurant itself is nice and clean, including the restrooms, which I always appreciate. The staff was very customer service oriented and did a great job making suggestions and giving tips about the menu and spice levels, which was super helpful. I started with the Money Bags, which are basically fried dumplings. Mine were a little overcooked, almost close to burnt. They still had decent flavor, but I'd personally rate them about a 2.9 out of 5. I also had the green papaya salad with mild spice, and the spice level was perfect, especially for people who are sensitive to heat. I usually stick around medium spice at Thai restaurants, but even the mild here still gives you a nice kick. For my drink, I got the Thai tea, which came topped with a Thai tea popsicle that slowly melted into the drink. Such a cute touch, creative, and tasty. For my entrée, I had the basil garlic sauce with sliced steak and a side of rice, which I really enjoyed. For dessert, we shared the mango sticky rice. It was good, but I do feel like it was a little overpriced for the portion size. Maybe part of that is because of the specialty rice they use that has the purple hue. I know a few places in Long Beach where you can get more for the same price. That said, the presentation was really cute with the flower garnish and everything looked beautiful. The atmosphere was nice. It has an open kitchen concept, so you can actually see the cooking happening, which adds to the experience. Seating is somewhat limited and the tables are fairly close together in certain sections, especially where the divider walls are, so you can definitely hear nearby conversations depending on where you sit. Great food, clean restaurant, and strong customer service. I'd definitely come back.
