I've been to Sweetwater a handful of times now, and it's quickly become one of my favorite dive bars. It's a great spot to grab a drink, play some pool, and strike up a conversation with whoever you happen to sit next to. It has that casual, welcoming vibe that makes it easy to settle in and enjoy yourself. If you're hoping to play pool, I recommend getting there on the earlier side--there are only two tables, and they fill up fast. One of my favorite things about Sweetwater, though, is the classic photo booth. I love capturing fun nights out with friends or my girlfriend, and the photos always come out great. The drinks are solid and very reasonably priced, and the bartenders are consistently kind and attentive--which I really appreciate. Also, for a dive bar, it's impressively clean. I never feel like I'm sticking to the floor or the furniture, which is a huge plus. So glad this place exists. I'll definitely keep coming back!

Love stoping here when I'm in the area! Great place to chill have a drink and meet up with some friends. The service from all bartenders are on point! Thanks for many years of great memories

Divey but owns it and makes it a nicer experience. Two pool tables. Pay by quarters. Dog friendly. Chill vibe. Decent beer selection on tap. Specials. Music. Owners are really nice and again super chill. Definitely the kind of spot that is great for locals and catching up with friends. Or making new ones! Pool vibe can get a bit weird sometimes depending on who's playing but otherwise nothing to call out.

I'm so obsessed with this place. A cutie little bar for the local gays! I love the Wednesday drink deal and the free pool. The Photo Booth is my freaking favorite and it can take all my money. I love that I can pick songs. I adore all the staff. Including the bouncer - she's both the sweetest and the most intense baddie ever. Also- the taco truck outside?! Soooooo fire. Starts at 7! A few things you need to know before going to this bar for the first time, since I read of these reviews and few of yall don't seem to get it... - It's a GAY bar. An LGBTQ safe place!!! That doesn't mean straight people are not welcome. That just means you better not disturb the peace and safety of one of the only few gay bars we have. - it's a freaking dive bar, people. Some times it's so packed that you have to throw an elbow or two to get a drink and that's FINE! That's part of the dive bar experience. - the bathrooms are weird, get over it. At least they have two. - it's cash only, again - get over it. - there will be lots of gays, not all of us are nice. But chances are you will meet some of the coolest people ever there.

    The extremely unfriendly bartender.

Very Vert rude place. The bartender was especially rude. (Terry). I went to meet a friend and idk if it was because I was not gay, they wanted to make it as uncomfortable as possible for me. This is an all cash and the bartender Terry kept telling my I was disrupting his job. As I there alone just drinking a beer. Not a friendly environment AT ALL. As I was leaving in tears. The people outside were even rude and making hurtful comments.

I've been here a few times on a Sunday night and had a great time. Drinks were strong and the bartender was nice. There's two pool tables for all you pool sharks out there. As with a lot of bars here in Long Beach, it's cash only. Fun Fact: they definitely have the saloon style doors that swing open. Fun!

A small dive bars right on the corner of Broadway and of course Falcon. There used to be an Italian restaurant next door but it's closed now. It's in a residential neighborhood so be courteous when you're outside. We thought it would have been quite busy as it a drinking holiday but when we walked in, there were maybe 8 people or so. The place isn't big. Bar counter on one side and a couple of hi tops table along the other wall. Doubt there's room for dancing when it's packed but I'm sure they'll make it work. The bartender working St Paddy's night was the sweetest. Very friendly which is always a major plus. We sat along the bar which was nice. Who ever was in charge of the music that night was great. A fun selection of upbeat music which the videos were also showing. You don't want to show up somewhere and the music sucks. Overall, it a fun little neighborhood dive bar. It seemed more like it was utilized with regulars as everyone seemed to know each other. I'm sure it picked up later on from when we arrived. But a fun little place for a drink. It's street parking if you're visiting.

This visit, it was a little more lively and a mixed crowd. The music sucked whoever was in charge as it kept skipping and changing constantly. Not consistent whatsoever. It could be coming from the jukebox right at the front. People were out for drinks which it was pretty lively. Of course as it's also a dive bar with a pool table, people were having fun. The place was chill as most bar in Long Beach are. Nothing stuck up here with pretentious people. Everyone is here for the same thing, a dive bar and drinks. There was actually more than one bartender this time. Normally it's one who was taking care of everyone. And a mixed crowd, people all having fun. It's bigger than the other one we just came from But did notice some other guest from the previous bar doing the same thing we were, bar hopping. There's a decent amount of seating along the bar counter. Hi top tables along the front and entrance. Some in the back area as well and the main seating area thats along the other wall with a built in seating. Great for people watching and viewing the game of pool that's right in front of you. I think there's two pool tables. It's a simple fun place where you guessed it, all the locals and regulars visit. They do have happy hour which we found out a while back. Same as all the other bars along the area, it's street parking. I don't know if it's a regular thing but out front was a taco stand getting ready for the night. Beer and tacos, match made in heaven.

My partner went to go use the restroom before we were going to leave but the only one open was the one that doesn't have a lock. It's got one toilet with no stall and some urinals in there, my partner and I are both trans so he asked me if I could just wait by the door to make sure no one walked in. One of the waiters came up so I just told him someone was in there. He literally gave me a dirty look before asking if it was a girl in there. He then shouted over the door asking if they were done. My partner said "Almost" but he reached for the handle opening the door into me to shuffle me out of the way anyways while saying "Well I work here." he barged into the bathroom while my partner was still inside but he at least wasn't indecent by this point. I was so mad, we left right after and I'm never going back. No part of that was okay he mentioned something about his shift almost being over to my partner while he was in the bathroom but that's no excuse to be so unbelievably rude in a place that's supposed to be inclusive. I will not be back and I hope no one else ever feels that disregarded by this waiter again. I don't really write negative reviews because all jobs come with their stress but this bothered me on a bare basic human decency level.

Normally on a Wednesday night or a Sunday as it was karaoke. The fun nights were had way back when. It's still the same fun old place but with a little revamp from the early 2000 when it was a frequent place with the college kids for drinks and karaoke. The crowd from the coffee shop down the street would end their nights here with cocktails and singing. A fun neighborhood dive bar. There's still security at the front checking ID's. Seems like regardless whatever your age is, they ask. Inside you have the retro fun vibe. Of course everyone is there for the same reason, a fun night. Bar is right when you walk in. Normally there's two bartenders on the busy nights but often you just see one. Inside has a good amount of seating but outside patio seating seemed to be alway lively. There's loads of seating out there. The fun twinkling lights and nice lush plants gives it a cool tropical feel hidden in Long Beach. I did notice a lot of people bringing food in especially pizza which was from across the street. Didn't know you could Uber Eats things here but clearly you can. Dinks is always good from my experience. Reasonable price which brings the crowd in. The only thing that sucks, the restroom situation. There's two on either side which does get pretty busy with a line as it's one per person and it's alway dirty. Don't know if anyone goes in there to clean during the nightly hours. Overall, the crowd is alway fun and lively. The last two times I've been I did noticed that it's still the college crew crowd as when I used to come in the early 2000. A more younger crowd, somewhat hipsters vibe. Depending on what day you visit, there's some kind of something going in. It's a fun dive bar that's alway fun for drink. Very casual.

For a venue that clearly draws large crowds and sells tickets in advance, we expected a more organized and professional level of service. There were only two bartenders handling a packed bar, making drinks one at a time while also trying to support wait staff. The result was long waits and visible strain on the team. It also seemed like there weren't enough servers or kitchen staff to keep up with the volume. It took quite a while just to have our order taken--and significantly longer for the food to arrive. When it finally did, two of our four meals were incorrect, and one didn't come out until the rest of us were nearly finished eating. While we understand that busy shows can be challenging, advance ticket sales should give management a clear idea of how to properly staff each show. We also felt it was inappropriate for our server to attribute order mistakes to hearing difficulties, especially when it impacted accuracy and the overall experience. We came to celebrate a meaningful milestone together, and it was disappointing that service issues overshadowed what should have been a special brunch. Its a good thing the music was great and the girls were entertaining

Every dish we've tried has been full of flavor and genuinely worth ordering. Surprisingly, compared to other Thai spots, it's usually not overly packed and honestly I'm almost scared to say that because I don't want it to change. The service has always been great, the food comes out quickly, and the portions/prices feel reasonable. So far, our favorites have been the pad see ew, tom yum soup (medium spice), egg fried rice, fried calamari and the beef BBQ which was so good we immediately ordered a second plate. The mango sticky rice is also really good, but the portion is on the smaller side, so we ended up getting two orders since one plate is hard to share with more than 2-3 people. Parking has been easy for us so far since there's both a parking lot and nearby street parking. Definitely one of our favorite restaurants that's officially in our regular rotation.

The restaurant itself is nice and clean, including the restrooms, which I always appreciate. The staff was very customer service oriented and did a great job making suggestions and giving tips about the menu and spice levels, which was super helpful. I started with the Money Bags, which are basically fried dumplings. Mine were a little overcooked, almost close to burnt. They still had decent flavor, but I'd personally rate them about a 2.9 out of 5. I also had the green papaya salad with mild spice, and the spice level was perfect, especially for people who are sensitive to heat. I usually stick around medium spice at Thai restaurants, but even the mild here still gives you a nice kick. For my drink, I got the Thai tea, which came topped with a Thai tea popsicle that slowly melted into the drink. Such a cute touch, creative, and tasty. For my entrée, I had the basil garlic sauce with sliced steak and a side of rice, which I really enjoyed. For dessert, we shared the mango sticky rice. It was good, but I do feel like it was a little overpriced for the portion size. Maybe part of that is because of the specialty rice they use that has the purple hue. I know a few places in Long Beach where you can get more for the same price. That said, the presentation was really cute with the flower garnish and everything looked beautiful. The atmosphere was nice. It has an open kitchen concept, so you can actually see the cooking happening, which adds to the experience. Seating is somewhat limited and the tables are fairly close together in certain sections, especially where the divider walls are, so you can definitely hear nearby conversations depending on where you sit. Great food, clean restaurant, and strong customer service. I'd definitely come back.
