First of the night for St Paddy Day. Which started off as just a drink lead to a night of bar hopping. It's been years since I was last here with friends. A small dive bars right on the corner of Broadway and of course Falcon. There used to be an Italian restaurant next door but it's closed now. It's in a residential neighborhood so be courteous when you're outside. We thought it would have been quite busy as it a drinking holiday but when we walked in, there were maybe 8 people or so. The place isn't big. Bar counter on one side and a couple of hi tops table along the other wall. Doubt there's room for dancing when it's packed but I'm sure they'll make it work. The bartender working St Paddy's night was the sweetest. Very friendly which is always a major plus. We sat along the bar which was nice. Who ever was in charge of the music that night was great. A fun selection of upbeat music which the videos were also showing. You don't want to show up somewhere and the music sucks. Overall, it a fun little neighborhood dive bar. It seemed more like it was utilized with regulars as everyone seemed to know each other. I'm sure it picked up later on from when we arrived. But a fun little place for a drink. I am visiting LGB, walking along Broadway to check out the gay bars. I see one with just a sign that says "cocktails" but has a gay pride flag, so I figure it is one of the gay bars. I walk up to the security guard who is sitting on a stool outside of the bar playing on his phone. I ask him, "which bar is this?" - he barks at me saying "ITS A BAR". - I ask again, "which bar is it?" He barks back - "IT's THE FALCON - I need to see your ID." I say thanks, and keep walking. If the bar can't hire security guards who can be nice and welcome patrons to the bar, they must not really want my business. read more

Came here on a Tuesday for the gamer night and it was a fun time. A lot of really kind people and it's a sweet environment to unwind and just play some video games with others. They have smash bros but I think it would be cool if we played Mario kart or something else too, not that there is anything wrong with smash bros. Very fun, friendly neighborhood bar. Great vibe upon walking and music was a blast, just make you want to move the body and just have good time. Came here on a Friday night to watch RuPaul and had a great time! We sat down at the bar and were immediately asked by the bartender (who was very sweet!) if we wanted drinks. Almost everyone was watching RuPaul and the ambience felt very inviting and made watching the show even better! There weren't too many seats but people go in and out as they go bar hopping . I'm honesty not really a 'neighborhood bar' guy for the most part, I typically like a place that's a bit big, spotless, modern, flashy. I enjoy the flash. W Hotel bars. The Abbey in West Hollywood. Hell, back in the day I'd go to Ultra Suede and Cherry Pop. I'm that guy™. Yet, there's something appealing about the Falcon. The bartenders are friendly without trying too hard. The place is well kept up without being pretentious (nobody's perfect). The crowd was mellow yet welcoming, the energy was good, the drinks strong and fairly priced. Everything just works. This is my favorite LGBTQ+ bar in Long Beach because the drinks are fairly cheap (cash only though - with an ATM inside), they have mirrors all along the walls so it makes the place feel bigger but also who doesn't love dancing with a mirror in front of them?, and they usually play a good variety of music! I've been to other gay bars on Broadway and I don't recall any of them having people actively dancing (it's been a while since I've been to them). On a weekend night, expect people here to be dancing after 10:30 or 11pm with great music videos playing on the TVs above all night! It's not a large space, but expect to have a great time if you love to dance. This is always my supplemental spot when I don't feel like going all the way to WeHo and just wanna stay in LB and dance! read more

Good placement & organization maximizes the efficient use of space along with mirrors that fool the eye into seeing more depth. Sunday afternoon is festive & loud since the speakers are pumping. Friendly vibe & manageable crowd. People here seem to want to hang out & be social. Only two bar-t's at the beginning, but an outgoing, vivacious Trans or Drag Queen radiating charm filled the room w/ her presence and proceeded to pour drinks while dishing Gay repartee to her patrons. (Sorry, don't want to offend in assuming perceived orientation.) She even joined us so we could do a group pic. She's cool & fun, setting the mood of the place to be playful, spontaneous, let down your hair & be yourself. I should have caught her name, but she's the one w/ the BIG Hair. Kudos to a truly colourful, kind personality. Management should give her a raise. 4 Yelp stars for being the most friendly bar on Gay Broadway in Long Beach. I actually grew a fondness for The Falcon during the pandemic as they had out door seating when that awful restaurant next door shutdown and opened up the space. This past weekend, I took a leap of faith and decided to go after having late night vegan sushi at Blue Bird Sushi. I entered this place and it was off the chain! the music was loud and bustling. The stereos was playing today's hits and many back-breaking, hip-hop dancing songs. I had a pleasurable time seeing all that frequent the bar. People who come from different aspects of LGBTQIA realm congregating together in a harmonious way! The drinks are fairly priced and they heavy pour! These bartenders use their good looks and charm to woo you into buying more and more liquor! I had an amazing time as I came here alone! I danced, I drank, and ubered home safely. Another great Long Beach gay bar. I feel safe, I have fun, they have good priced drinks, what else is there to say? WELL there's a LOT because that's what reviews are for! The Falcon is located right off of Broadway and (for Long Beach) is pretty convenient to get to. The staff has always been friendly -- even the bouncers, which, in my opinion is relatively rare these days! I feel like I've struck up a conversation with them every time I have been there, while they still keep everyone in order and in check! I love it. This bar IS cash only, which can be bit of an inconvenience, but they do have an ATM right inside. Yes, annoying, but hey, that's how Long Beach is, and girl, ya gotta get over it. My one complaint is that they don't have a patio. Again, not necessarily their fault, but for people who want a quick cigarette or just a breath of fresh air, it can get a little claustrophobic. Maybe update the music just a litttttttle bit too. I would love for the Falcon to have more of a dancey vibe, and I feel like it's the one place with the space to excel in that! This place is CASH ONLY. Do not let the Yelp fool you. It's is fun on weekends but be warm it gets to damn crowd to a point that you are shoulder to shoulder. I seriously think they are over capacity to point that it's ridiculous. They do not have crowd control. Music is great but what is the point when it's so freaking crowded that you can't even move, so forget dancing. If you go on a hot day as soon as you get close to the door you can feel the heat pouring out of the bar. It's like walking into a sauna. I'd give it 0 stars if I could. It happened a couple of years ago. I was just dancing and having a good time and the bouncer asked me to leave. I had no problem leaving. I sat my keys on the counter and told him I wanted to find my keys because they were not there where I sat them. He said fuck your keys and grabbed my arm and literally picked me up and threw me out like I was a man. I'm a 5'4 140 woman and this man was like 6 feet tall. I slapped him like he deserved. This was my first visit to The Falcon. My boyfriend and I stopped in on our way back home. It was a Monday night so wasn't expecting a large crowd and knowing it was probably a local bar, I expected it to be full of regulars who would notice the two "newbies". But the crowd and the barkeep made my expectations more extreme. The moment we walked in all heads turned to the door and we were immediately on display. We made our way to a far table in the tiny "club" all the while every head followed our every move. I'm a fan of horror movies and this felt like a scene where he out of towners entered a bar of locals and you know our friendly newbies are about to be drug up into the house for "leather face" to have a new play toy. But I digress. Long story short. It's a bar for locals that doesn't accept new comers. Two more ppl entered who were obviously well known as they were greeted with a resounding cheer and a kiss from the bartender. Not sure if it was because we were new, a mixed race couple or our age difference but they made us feel most unwelcome, anxious and a little scared. Save your money and your sanity. I only checked out one other bar in the area after running out of this "fine" establishment. That was Sweetwater Saloon. Go there first. They now how to treat you. Went in for the first time on a Sunday night and there was a lot of people. The place is small but comfortable. There's lots of T.V's and great music. The bartender was really nice and the drink prices were amazing. I'm not sure if it was a Sunday night special or if they're always prized like this but a beer was $5, a hard cider was $5.50, a vodka shot was $5 something and the best one is a jager bomb for only $6!! I was not happy visiting this place yesterday. The cash only policy was am immediate turn off from the get go. Its 2020 people! Get with the times and buy a credit/debit card machine.. Also I was not having that nasty thai food they were serving. Appetizers were not fresh and the egg roll thingys were dry af in the middle and the entrées were microwaved, so NOT FRESH. If your gonna do that, might I suggest a tasty frozen Entrée from your local grocery store. The food was so nasty. DO NOT GO THERE for the the food. So nasty. I wish I could give 3 stars because there's potential here, but no. The things I DIDN'T like: it is so sticky you'd think someone mopped the floors with soda. It's such a small place it shouldn't double as a dance floor as well, especially since the people dancing are always drunk as hell and falling on the floor or into you, maybe because their feet are stuck on the floor, who knows. Honestly, the list could go on with the bouncer, bathroom, but you get the gist. The things I DID like: the music and the videos!
