We had a great time last night, meeting the owner and having cocktails! We will definitely be back this weekend!

The Abbey has been a popular place for my family and I to attend for decades. We stopped in today,…read morea Sunday, for lunch. We easily found a place to sit on the shaded outdoor dining area, all the time people were going inside the adjacent dining and dancing area for one of the Abbey's famous drag shows. I ordered the guacamole bacon cheeseburger with fries and my guest had the Philly Cheesesteak. My burger was cooked perfectly and looked great. The fries were fair, nothing to write home about. My guest loved his Philly Cheesesteak and it brought memories of the last time he ordered one more than a decade earlier. It's only fair that I mention the conduct of one of thr employees who appears to be a host. There was an ethnic couple (probably middle eastern) siting at the table next to us, dining and enjoying their meal, when this employee approached them and singled them out because of their ethnicity. He fawned all over them, loudly, apparently trying to be welcoming, all the while addressing them as "you people" and "we are open to people like you dropping in for a gold time." While he clearly wanted to be nice, he came off as condescending and racists and was very annoying to my guest and me and people at another table who muttered "what an idiot." On the positive sign the middle eastern couple didn't appear to be annoyed but, still, that's not the way first time guests should be addressed. We dropped in on the drag show after lunch but all seats were taken so we decided not to stand in the corner and watch. Getting smart, especially a good seat means arriving about an hour before the show. Today's show began at 1:30 pm. There are nearby parking lots, pricy and neighborhood parking if one can tolerate a moderate walk. The Abbey is an ice place to go, especially on Friday and Saturday nights. Dining is pretty good and their menu is not big. But they still have a nice variety of dishes.

Unauthorized Tip Added After I Closed My Tab…read more I came here for my friend's birthday and ordered a $15 drink. Unfortunately, the bartender was rude and dismissive, so I chose not to leave a tip. I closed my tab immediately, signed the receipt, left the tip line blank, and kept both copies of the receipt. My Cash App card was originally charged $15 that night, but the following day the transaction changed to $16. I did not authorize an additional $1 tip or charge. It's only a dollar, but that isn't the point. Customers should be able to trust that the amount they authorize on a receipt is the amount they are actually charged. Between the bartender's attitude and the unexplained additional charge, this was a very disappointing experience. I've kept my receipts and will be disputing the difference if it isn't corrected.

The unpretentious heartbeat of WeHo's bar crawl…read more In a neighborhood defined by dazzling, high-production venues, Trunks stands as a comforting and essential reminder that sometimes, the best experiences are the least complicated. This is not the place for bottle service or a velvet rope; it's where you go when you need a genuine drink and some no-frills, good-time energy. The charm here is in the dive-bar aesthetic, where the pool tables and sports on TV create a relaxed, neighborhood feel that is rare on Santa Monica Boulevard. While other places can be a scene, Trunks offers a reliably easy-going vibe, especially during a well-priced happy hour. For a West Hollywood bar crawl, Trunks is the essential starting line or the perfect low-key finishing post. The drinks are stiff, the prices are manageable, and the crowd is a welcome, mixed bag of locals and visitors. It's a testament to the fact that longevity in this scene comes from giving people exactly what they want: strong drinks, a solid vibe, and zero attitude.

One of my favorite bars in West Hollywood hands down…read more Still a good vibe with that slice of dive bar energy. The service is sensational and the drinks are gay bar standard with that little extra you just can't get at many other spots. Good patio space, upper deck area and room, though during pride, weekends, holidays and special occasions it is filled to the brim, like those great drink pours. The tunes are iconic. DJ Tony G drop keep dropping those beats!!! And they show music videos on their screens. Mother Lode is the oldest operating gay bar in West Hollywood, serving up the LGBTQ+ community and all since 1979. And after nearly 50 years of success they continue to thrive 7 days a week from 3PM until 2AM It's all about the good vibes and good times... Some themed nights like their Bubble Pop, Caballero (no recordings or videos, just you) and Flashback Mondays. I don't believe they still have karaoke nights here, I could be wrong. Very limited seating with a chair here or there and some benches against the upper deck. Restrooms are gendered but move pretty quickly and are typically still clean. While WeHo is all forms of pup friendly. Our four legged friends aren't allowed for many reasons. There's absolutely zero room on busy nights and we wouldn't want them to hurt themselves or get hurt navigating through the day/afternoon or night here. Local street, garage and some lot parking available in the area, mostly metered, time restricted or paid, especially at night. It's a well sized dive bar meets West Hollywood, and probably one of the most welcoming in the area.

We stopped by on a Monday around 8pm and it was surprisingly quiet at first, but before long people started walking in for Trivia Night and the atmosphere became much livelier. OR Bar has a really stylish, welcoming vibe. The black and gold decor, artwork, and chandeliers give it an upscale feel. I also like that it's more than just a nighttime spot. During the day, people come in to work, enjoy coffee, and just hang out, which gives it a nice neighborhood vibe. I ordered an Angry Orchard Cider and my friend ordered one of their Espress-OR Martinis. It looked great but it was strong! If you are an espresso martini fan who likes this style of drink, you will probably enjoy it. There are metered spaces behind the bar and there is also residential street parking nearby if you pay attention to the posted signs. Overall, this was a fun find and I can definitely see why it has become a neighborhood favorite. I would come back to try more of the cocktails and experience another Trivia Night.
