The salmon cakes are absolutely terrific. they have been a "special" for many months. it would be great to see them as a regular item on the menu. Went here for a family brunch. We were about 26 people. Food was good. I had the crab cake. It was delicious and served with fries and delicious slaw not drown in mayo. Another had the salmon and enjoyed it. We were seated in booths, and tables. However I don't know what anyone else ordered although a few were disappointed saying their entree was dry. We moved to Bluffton 9 mos ago and while I've driven past and seen Truffles Cafe, we didn't try it until last night (for dinner). We loved it! We made a second reservation before we left. Truffles is a solid choice while in the crowded area. This location is quite large - and there is not enough parking for all of the businesses in this strip mall. There are private rooms suitable for business meetings or parties. The bar did not appear to be too lively and it's basically between the entrance and the kitchen (i.e not separated). There is a decent amount of outdoor seating too. "The food?" you ask. There are several unique and scrumptious choices. The tomato or onion soups are superb. There are quite a few entree style salads, complete with optional chicken or salmon. Our customer's salad has a piece of salmon that could have been an entree itself. I was tempted by the grilled pimento cheese sandwich, but instead went for the spinach quiche with mescalin greens and french fries. There honestly are quite a few dishes I would love to try if/when I return. The last Yelp I'll make about Truffles is how awesome our server was. When we arrived on time for our lunch meeting, he brought our drinks and offered us appetizers while we waited (which we declined). Our customer was quite late, but our server was very patient and refilled our drinks MANY times during our two hour lunch seating. We never felt rushed and he was attentive throughout the meal. My husband and I come to Truffles for every date night. When walking into a restaurant we usually see a happy smiley host welcoming us in. The last three dates we've spent with you, including tonight, we were greeted by a grouchy host. Not even a hello. Didn't even look up from the stand until my husband cleared his throat. A rainy day at the beach almost always leads to shopping. I would much rather spend such days reading a book, channel surfing or simply taking a nap. Long story short, we headed up to the Tanger Outlet stores. But factually, I too enjoy the outlets. As the outlets sit on the less commercial side of the island, it's advisable to google restaurants options if you want something more than standard fast food fare. That was the case today and Truffles Cafe was an easy choice. For me, the name Truffles is synonymous with the terms classy, sophisticated and consistent. I have visited the Truffles locations at Sea Pines and Pope Ave on the Island a few times. I have never been disappointed. There are a variety of menu offerings to include seafood, steaks, burgers, wraps, and the signature baby back ribs. There is an extensive wine list. Each location is different in decor. All are very nicely done. The Bluffton location has huge windows, nice dark woods, a huge wrap around bar, those nice "half curtain" things and more. But, even with the richness, the restaurant still feels casual. I can't imagine what I would pay for such surroundings and food offerings in NY. Today, we combo'd on the Chef's special Spinach Salad with salmon and the half portion of ribs. Both were great. The bread was delivered shortly after our beverages and proved up to the Truffles standard. Our Server, Stephanie was a jewel and true professional. The manager even stopped by to inquire and then to bring wet napkins with lemons for cleaning Barbecue fingers. The food was delivered promptly. The presentations were appealing. I was here fir lunch only and just one time. We were a party of five so naturally we ended up ordering like 4 appetizers and 5 separate lunch menus. Yes we eat a lot. I thought the food was decent but I wouldn't call it amazing. We've been to a lot of restaurants in town and they are definitely one of the cleanest places though. Truffles in Bluffton has become one of my favorite restaurants in the Bluffton/Hilton Head area. Their food is so on point. The curry chicken salad is a work of genius. I don't know who came up with that recipe, but it is one of the best salads I have ever had. The tomato dill is also amazing. All of their sandwiches are awesome, love the cuban, great burger, etc. I cannot say enough good things about the staff there, including the two managers, who I still cannot tell apart. The servers are usually college aged kids, who must have been plucked from the same pool where Chick-fil-a gets their employees. So personable and polite. It is refreshing to see given the current state of our country. Anyone who has given this restaurant a bad review, does not understand what quality food is supposed to taste like and I am assuming there was something else that they did not like, because it could not have possibly been the food or the service. In the land of everything fried this is a breath of fresh air. There is some disparities such as cloth napkins and cold bread and butter in paper wrappings. The crab cake was decent, a bit heavy on filler, but resurrected with a mild wasabi sauce. Good mashed potatoes and fresh string beans done right. Not an adventurous dessert menu so I settled for an espresso with a pithy twist. Their glass wines are minimal and a Duckworth Pinot was almost vinegar, but cheerfully replaced with a Rodney Pinot. Friendly servers and no rush dining. Note to bartender- wine by glass need to get rid of air in bottle or wine turns. Note to barista on espresso with lemon twist no pith, pith adds unwanted bitterness to the peel! read more
