Time for a round of I like, I wish, I wonder! I had no idea what float therapy was before Yelp introduced me to this business. I did some research to find that you go into 10" deep water that has 1000+ lbs of epsom salts in it. It's anti-gravity, so you float without effort. It's meant to be meditative, relieve anxiety, and assist in pain relief and improved sleep. You can float in a swimsuit or your birthday one (which helps increase the goal of sensory deprivation, as the swimsuit can take on a temperature different than your skin and the water temp). I like... the privacy of the rooms where you get your own float pod, shower (for before and after), shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and towels. The water temp is supposed to be 94F to match the temp of your skin, but at times, it felt a little cooler than that. Options in the pod to change the color of the light to any color of the rainbow, or shut it off completely, which I tried for the back half of my float! It did take a while to find the light switch at the end of the session, LOL. Option also to close the pod doors or leave them ajar. I closed mine after a few minutes. The prep room is available for use after you're done floating and showering. I used the hair dryer and leave in conditioner. The complimentary amenities are so nice, including hair ties, Q tips, deodorant, and individually wrapped brushes/combs! Afterwards, I had some ginger tea and tried out the oxygen room, where I got to sample the lavender orange one. I could have fallen asleep in there! I wish... I didn't bump into the sides of the pod as much as I did, LOL. I'm not even that tall. Can't imagine someone 6' or taller fitting into this, but I was told the pods are 7', and a former Bears player who's 6'9" made due. I wonder... how the long lasting benefits of float therapy can help me. It's supposed to lead to a good night's sleep, so I'm looking forward to that! I met Murphy upon my first arrival to True Rest. He was very pleasant and has owned the spa with his sister for the past 1.5 years. I spent over 2 hours there, and it was very relaxing! Felt like I was transported to another world. Next time, I'll be sure to spend a little time in the Oasis Room afterwards to journal or color in the adult coloring books. Can't wait to come back! read more

This was my first time experience. It was really amazing. You were welcomed guided through what we are going to expect. We were taken in and explained what the process is going to be like. You get it you get an individual room in the pod. Do you know if you actually Float. For me I loved the first 30-35 minutes of the experience, but then I was wanted to come out of the water. But I stayed. Your room has the shower and once you get dressed up across the hall, there is a prep room and you can blow dry your hair, do your makeup if you want to. Then you get into the relaxation room and you have option to read or color books or do some activity. And then we had 10 minutes of oxygen therapy, which is supposed to stimulate your brain. They're really care about the customer experience. Me and my husband went for the same time, and we had a wonderful experience in a highly recommend this. read more

This was my first time, experiencing float therapy. The place was easy to find. Plenty of parking. After you check in, you watch a short video and then you get a tour. The bathrooms and prep area are located before you enter the door to the pods. You do a quick rinse then you enter the pod. Be sure to have a towel and water bottle close by in case you need to wipe the salt off your face. When you get into the pod, you can close the lid or keep it open/partially open. You can also change the color of the lights or have it completely off. I didn't see the part about changing the music because Krista told me that she controls it. I didn't hear any music during my session. The water is very shallow so there is no way you can drown. There is also a pillow like flotation device that you can rest your head on. After your 60 mins, take a shower to wash off all of the salt. You'll know your time is up when the water starts moving. You can enjoy the oasis room after you finish getting ready. I didn't get a chance to try the tea that everyone is talking about. Krista said she "broke it" so only water was available. After reading other Yelpers' reviews, it seemed like Krista was too lazy to give us tea. The oxygen bar was relaxing. I tried the uplifting one which contained peppermint. Their official website, Google, and Yelp all say they close at 10 pm. I have attached a picture. However, Krista was kind of rushing us and it was only 9:15 pm. She also cut my girlfriend's oxygen bar experience short. Mine was 10 mins and my girlfriend's was 5 mins. Customer service was lacking towards the end, not sure if she was in a hurry to close up. I would definitely do this again. I recommend not to rush your customers and to not close up shop before the posted closing time. Experience itself was a 5. What an amazing time! Float spas should be on peoples' bucket lists when it comes to self-care and relaxation. Like a majority of folks, I too am new to the Float spa world and let me tell you, I left feeling fabulous and refreshed. I've dealt with insomnia my entire adult life and no amount of Melatonin or sleep pills have regulated my sleep until a recent visit to True Rest Float Spa in Skokie. I tend to go beast mode at the gym leaving my body suffering for hours, if not days later. After a single session, my joint pain and muscle aches were cut by more than half! My skin never felt so soft and I've had the most amazing sleep in a long time. These are just a few of the major benefits a float spa can do for you and I cannot recommend it enough. Like Nike, Just... Do.... It!!! Skip this paragraph and the next two if you dislike spoilers. If I had to describe the actual float experience, it's simply drifting away floating in about a foot and a half deep of warm, highly salinated Epsom salt filtered water. After nearly a half hour coming out of a sleep trance, I gently woke up with a layer of slime on my skin! Strange to experience but rather moisturizing. I also felt like I had a slight layer of salt crust forming at the top of my thighs. I simply brushed it off and in doing so, I was getting a nice little exfoliation in the process! One thing I would mention is to flush your eyes with the spray bottle as I accidentally got some of the spa water in my eyes and it was not pleasant. It stung actually. Also, carefully enter and exit the float spa since the water is slippery. Shower and Prep room amenities were top notch with my absolute favorites being the shower, the body wash and Raw Sugar leave-in conditioner. The Oxygen bar at the end was interesting too and I enjoyed the different scents that were available. Owners, husband and wife, Dean and Heather did a fantastic job during my first visit with the spa. They were kind, welcoming and were extremely knowledgeable when it boiled down to explaining the float spa process. Word on the street, per Heather, coming soon there will be a massage room available! I can't wait to see how that pans out. A fantastic experience overall to not be missed. I plan on coming back during the holidays to purchase one of their packages to use for myself and to give as gifts to loved ones. First time here. Environment is minimalist and clean. Had a tour of the facilities, watched a video. The float experience was really nice. One hour was just right. The attendant was very calm and showed me everything. It was easy to redeem the code online, this was a gift. Basically you just had to add a package to your cart but when you entered your info to pay, it showed as nonpayment needed. So took my worries away. Also, I liked the music track that was available, just pure nature sounds. And a part of the package is the oxygen? First time trying it. I like how they cared that I had a good experience. As a first time floater, I did a little bit of research. I wasn't sure what to expect. As soon as we entered we were greeted by Dean who checked up in and brough us to the first room where we saw a video of the experience. He then took us on a tour of the place and explained the entire process. My wife and I both really enjoyed our experiences. I choose the nature sounds and my wife did the rain. I chose to close the doors while my wife left it slightly open. I kept the lights off and my wife had them on. While we both had it setup differently we both had the same great experience. We ended up signing up for a membership to continue this great experience monthly. read more

What a relaxing experience! As a first timer, the process was explained thoroughly and staff members were extremely welcoming. Rooms are completely private with a shower & float pod. After my session was over, I stopped by an another room to finish up my skincare/hair care routine. There were additional products such as individually packaged combs, q-tips, lotion, leave in conditioner, hair dryers, etc. My last stop was the oasis room to try to oxygen bar. Under new management, and the new owners are great! There are some 1 star reviews from November/December 2023 when True Rest was under previous management. It is NOW UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT and I floated there a few weeks ago, and it's fabulous! The new owners, Heather and Murphy, are incredibly nice, and very committed to floating. The spa is immaculate -- the water feels silky smooth, clean, comfortable, and the perfect temperature. The location was always great with ample parking. Big, accessible bathrooms. A relaxing lounge where they serve tea and there's even an 'oxygen bar.' If you love to float but heard bad things about this location -- come back, it's better now! Yeay! I was able to get a buy one, get one free float here for Christmas for my husband and I as he loves float therapy. Booking online was very easy. When we got there, they had us watch a short introductory video on safety, which I thought was really great if you're a first-timer with float therapy. Receptionist explained the process, and they have signs in the rooms that also explain what to expect and do as well. Rooms were spacious, and pods were very big, which is a must for my very tall husband. They also offer an oxygen bar and tea bar for you for after your session. Overall I found my experience to be very relaxing. I was able to redeem my vouchers with no difficulty. I personally prefer the bathtubs over pods, but would recommend this place to someone looking to try float therapy. read more

I always wanted to try a floatation chamber and I was very interested in taking a tour of the facility. After taking a 15 minute tour to make sure this is something I would like I purchased a package and booked my next appointment. The day of the appointment the staff was again extremely helpful and inviting. I arrived early to watch a short introductory video and again got a second tour to get my bearings around the facility. My float session itself was very relaxing and lasted about 50 minutes, after which took a shower hot dressed and enjoyed a nice cup of hot licorice tea and oxygen bar. read more

I've been a member for almost two years now and find myself going here at least once a month to get in the zen mood. The new owners, Heather and Murphy, are amazing. They managed to create an oasis for us leading a stressful life. From the moment you step in through the door until you step out, you will be treated as royalty (and I know cs I'm Swedish lol). You can decide if you want to play your own music, let them choose something for you, or just lay there in silence. After the float, you will be served tea and an oxygen treatment. Today is Friday, December 22nd, and I experienced something similar to others who have left reviews. STEER CLEAR OF THIS BUSINESS. I scheduled a 1-hour float. I confirmed the appointment online yesterday. I arrived half an hour early as requested for first time clients. The float was relaxing/rejuvenating/stress-relieving. Here's where things went off the rails. I was told my gift voucher was expired, and I would need to provide another form of payment. Confused, but giving them the benefit of the doubt, I pulled up the original email from the business, expecting to see an expiration date or statement or how long the voucher is valid, assuming I'd overlooked, but sure enough, there's absolutely no expiration date on the voucher, and no mention in any correspondence with the business, about an expiration date. The owner wasn't interested in any point of view other than his own, so seeing things going nowhere fast, we agreed to call the Skokie police to help settle things. An incident report was filed and as of the posting of this review, I have not been charged...but they have my credit card and we shall see... Save yourself a lot of stress (oh, the irony) and patronize businesses run by good, honorable people. True Rest Float Spa is not such a business and as the services they provide are available at other places not far away, I recommend avoiding them at all costs. Happy Holidays! read more

My last float therapy place closed so I came to this one. I found the pods spacious and the staff professional and very friendly. I came in with very tight muscles and a sore neck and after my float the pain and tightness started to fade. A few hours later I am almost without an pain. Do we purchased a package as a gift for a friend and when she went in to use it they said it they couldn't honor it because it's a new owner. The lady was very rude and wouldn't even let me speak to a manager. She offered a discount but we have to pay again It's the same company not a new corporation. If they bought the business they also bought all the customers and anything pending. By far worst customer service I've had. I will call the better business bureau. Horrible business practices! I purchased a "Mothers' Day Buy One Get One Free" float package in May, good for 6 months. I booked my 2 floats last week, and was called today, the day before my appointment, and told that Dimitry, the new owner, would not honor any vouchers that were purchased before he took ownership, including Mothers' Day/Fathers' Day or any membership benefit floats. I was not informed of the transfer of ownership, nor that I would lose my credit. The very polite woman on the phone told me that she was instructed by Dimitry to call all of the scheduled clients using vouchers or credits to inform them that their credits would not be accepted. This is a terrible business practice. I will never recommend this location, and will not patronize any TrueRest franchise again. This is the opposite of healing and relaxing. read more

My first time floating! from the moment I walked in, I was greeted by Kayla, who was so friendly. She explained everything to me, took me in the float room to go over things with me and I watched a video. I was so surprised. I was able to get so relaxed that I started to fall asleep a number of times. It is the most relaxing thing I have ever done.
