I didn't want to pay the $$$ get the dealer replacement. I'd been to other hardware stores that had the right width of screw, but way too long. Anyway, I decided to give this store a try. I walked in and the person at the counter asked if I needed help. I told him what I was looking for. He directed me to the correct aisle, which end, and which side of the aisle. When I got there, there was already another employee there helping someone else. After he finished with the other customer, he asked if I needed help. I showed him my key fob and went to work to find something that would fit. Eventually, he found one and even screwed it in for me, which was great because I definitely don't have a hex wrench small enough for that screw. In the end, my bill was 99 cents plus tax. What a great deal, and great customer service!

That is above and beyond. Every time I go to the store I am greeted as I walk in and I am asked what they can help me find. Wow, I just love the size of the place too. You sometimes don't need those big box stores. I highly recommend this place for your hardware needs! You won't be disappointed!

I am always greeted as I walk in the door. Today, I went for a screw and nut. I needed it for my holder for my bike. The woman working greeted me as I walked in. She took me back to the right area and even picked them out for me. I forgot they had a minimum ($1) to use a credit card. I had no money with me besides my credit card. They offered me to come back and pay, I was afraid i would forget. I shopped instead. I knew I probably needed more items. When I checked out, the woman asked me if I was going to put the phone holder on my bike now. I said yes, so she followed me out with a screw driver. The screw was too short, so she went in and got a bigger one for me. You don't get service like this anymore.

I was there at roughly 11 am on Tuesday, March 15, 2025. the problem involves a man and a woman, both of color and in late 20s or early 30s. This info is given just in case the manager of the garden center would like to start doing his/her job. I was loading 1.5 cu ft bags of soil into my cart when I noticed a skid 30 ft away. I rolled my cart less than 10 feet past the two employees described above who were leaning against shelving casually engaged in conversation. I had passed within just 3-4 feet of them. I started to unload the 4 bags from the cart onto the skid. When I looked up hoping that the guy would offer some help, I saw that he had turned his back to a 74 year old customer who was visibly huffing and puffing as he continued his conversation. That done, I went back to the soil location and added another 2 bags to the skid. After leaving the check-out I approached a managerial-looking woman who said that she was the front of store manager. I told her about it and she walked away and said nothing. So now I went out to my suv and loaded the 6 bags of soil into it. I drove to the outside of the garden center and stopped the car. That same guy was in a different location but within my view again leaning against shelving and casually chatting to someone (I couldn't see if it was the same woman).

Ordering online was easy and so was the pickup using your coded sheet sent to you when your order is ready for pickup. The things that make me like going to this Home Depot... 1. The app. If I don't choose to buy the item online and do a pick up the app tells me what aisle the item I'm looking for is in and what section of the aisle I can find it at. 2. They offer a veterans discount. Not much... But it pretty much covers the sales tax here in Iowa anyway... It's easy to sign up for and add to your app if you have ID.me setup. Once it's in your app you just scan the QR code for the discount when you check out. Like any other Home Depot or Lowe's no one is EVER around when you actually need them. And I've learned to deal with that... Lol Parking is easy. The lot is huge and the store is fully handcapped accessible. They do offer a special parking space for veterans as well (one spot). The store is clean and easy to navigate. When I do need to flag someone down for help they are usually personable enough...when you can finally locate someone. The big picture... It is what is is. A HUGE big box store, with affordable prices, housing every item you could need for a project...and then some!

But it was getting late and I was afraid I wouldn't make it to Lowe's. I walked over to the check out, and saw another customer asking a question- the lazy checker didn't respond and just pulled out her phone- I guess to look up the item, the customer said, "Never mind I can look it up too, but probably faster." Then the lazy can't be bothered cashier, still leaning on a check out stand, said to me in an I'm gonna fall asleep tone, "Those registers are closed." So I went to a different register, then heard another customer say "Is anybody working here that can help us."The lazy employee just sat there on the closed check out stand, but a young man ran over to help. At that point I just pretended like I lost my wallet and left. What was I thinking? It's always the same. ‍ If you go to this West Des Moines, Home Depot, and see this employee, she won't be helpful at all, best to go to Lowe's or Menards.

I walk in, and as usual I'm picked out as soon as I make two steps into the door to ask if there's something they can help me with. I guess browsing is not allowed (to bad for them since that's when my wallet starts to loosen up, and I buy things that I "think" I need). I tell the clerk that I need some ceiling paint. I'm asked: "interior or exterior"... Um, exterior ceiling paint? I don't think there is a such thing as exterior ceiling paint. Now I looked hard and far for anyone claiming to sell exterior ceiling paint. I even asked the clerk to show me a can of paint labeled "exterior ceiling paint" which he wasn't able to do. I think I'll just drive the extra 10 minutes to the next nearest home center store instead of stopping here. At least I can browse around those stores to get ideas on projects that I may want to tackle in the future.
