I wish I could give Lowe's zero stars for this nightmare of a "door installation." What should have been a simple project turned into 6+ months of lies, shortcuts, damage, and complete lack of accountability. I paid Lowe's $1,700 for a door and "professional installation." The first door came in wrong. It was supposed to have clear coat applied but you can tell that it didn't, surface was very rough. Instead of owning up to it, they and their installer actually tried to convince me it was correct. I had to call the manufacturer myself to prove Lowe's was lying, it was unfinished, just like I suspected. That's the level of honesty I've been dealing with. I've attached photo of a response from manufacturer. After dragging me along for months, they reordered. I thought maybe it would finally be done right. Nope. The second door came damaged, the framing was done wrong, and worst of all the installer framed the wall directly on top of my floating vinyl floor. Any real contractor knows that voids the warranty and ruins the floor. A flooring company gave me a written estimate for $800 in damage just to fix what Lowe's caused. They also noted that due to incorrect install my warranty is voided, attached photo of that too. And now to fix it, everything they did, the wall, the door, the frame has to be completely ripped out and redone. So what exactly did I pay them for? Let's not forget the quality, paint chips everywhere, sloppy cuts, shortcuts at every step. Nothing about it was professional. And the customer service? Endless follow-ups, vague promises, and wasted hours of my time. Even the store supervisor admitted their work was a mess, but when it came to actually making it right, Lowe's corporate only offered me $450 total. That doesn't even cover the floor damage, let alone the install I paid nearly $800 for. They called it a "fair" offer. In what world is that fair? Bottom line: I paid for a professional install and got lies, damage, and months of stress. Lowe's refused to take responsibility, even after the BBB got involved. Everything they touched has to be redone, and they still want me to settle for less than what they broke. That's not professional service -- it's embarrassing. If you value your time, your money, or your home, do not hire Lowe's for installation. They'll take your money, cut corners, and leave you to clean up the mess. read more

Man Lowe's always have way more then your looking for, and sometimes is hard to find, but the staff is always really great and super helpful to a guy who know's about as much about tools as he does about micro-biology! Not much! Anyway they had the bike lock I was looking for, and also some outdoor furniture to sit on while we ponder what would look best outside our new home! The prices are pretty great, since the buying power of this massive store is second to none! Do not buy appliances from this store. I bought a washer and dryer last week, delivery was scheduled for yesterday. Delivery employees come with only dryer, no washer. Dryer was also supposed to have hinge moved to other side, delivery employees could not change it. Dryer was sent back to have door changed. Next day delivery, dryer still did not have door changed. Had to send back. Washer was fine. There were 2 delivery employees. Only 1 could carry the washer up a flight of stairs. I had to help carry the washer up the stairs. I then had to go to the store to get the dryer myself and carry it up the stairs also to install since one of the delivery guys was useless. Lowes then refused to give any type of discount even though an employee the previous day agreed to a 10% reduction in price. They were now saying it was a delivery issue. It was mainly a Lowes issue for not having the washing machine available as they said they did and also not moving the door hinge on the dryer. My experience buying refrigerator range dishwasher and microwave has been a cluster since the start. Began by selling me wrong size frig. Continued with no one picking up wrong frig. Even though they said they would. Continued with numerous phone calls about getting frig extended warranty and misc items off my Bill still unresolved. Changing delivery date at the last minute 3 times. Telling me items would be in on Tuesday. Being told they would be in a week later. I've referred 3 people to Warner's. They were incredibly helpful. The epitome of know-nothing employees. No one had any idea of where the weatherstripping was located. Finally got cell service under their metal room so I could check their website. Said it was out of stock at their store, but told me the aisle. Went to the aisle anyway and lo and behold they had boxes of it. Gather up my stuff, just over $100 worth in total and proceed to the self-checkout. After the second tube of caulk "please place scanned item in bag" , of course after I had done so. take it out and try again. And again. Meanwhile, their worthless employees, three of them mind you, just kept chatting and watching. So, they got to watch me leave all my stuff on top of the scanner and walk out. I purchased this $1400 snowblower from Lowe's on 28 January. The guys loaded the snowblower on my truck with the handle face the rear window. As soon as I got off their lot and on to 50th. The decline cause the snowblower to shift and crash into the rear window (vehicle damaged- scratched up paint). I went in on that Monday February 1st. Told Christy about the situation. First she tried to get me to pay for the red handle that broke and repair it myself. (Are you kidding me) Then, she took my receipt went to her computer and claimed that she placed an order for my snowblower to be replaced. I asked her how I would be notified when the snowblower came in so I can bring in the defective one. She told me someone from Lowe's would call in 10 to 14 days.I waited 18 days, then called Lowe's. Christy happen to be there. First she lied and told me that she told me to bring the snowblower in. After I informed her of the details of our conversation. She realize she never did tell me to bring that in. So now 18 days later I have no snowblower. Christy tells me the new one will not be here until may be March 1st. So what am I suppose to do for the next 2 weeks, BTW snow predicted for 4 of the next 10 days. So I asked Christy if they had a snowblower to get me by for the next 2 weeks. This lady tries to get me to pay for a clearance $300 snowblower. What poor customer service. I can't believe Lowe's would treat their customers this way. Steer clear of this one folks. As a rule, for me at least, Lowe's has always been a pretty solid "go-to" kind of place. Unfortunately however, this 50th St. store in West Des Moines is deplorably bad at running a business with any even reasonable semblance of customer service. I'm not sure if it is just bad management, or really poor hiring on the HR side, but this place is bad with a capital B! Usually I just let it roll off and get on with it, but this last instance takes the cake. I go in to buy a storm door which is simple enough, right? So the guy tells me that they'll send one of their "professionals" out to measure and then I can come back in an pick out the door I want. He tells me that the installer will be in touch within two days. So for $35, I pay for the courtesy of this professional service and leave. That was on January 8th, 2019. Hearing nothing, I call in on Monday, January 14th just to check status. No big deal. I talk to the gal who is friendly enough and she tells me that this is uncommon, but that I should hear from the installer that evening. If not, I should call her back the following day because she'll be there all day. We then verified all contact information just to be sure. So, I didn't and followed her instructions and called back today. I didn't get her, but some other guy. We went through the whole process again, verified contact number, etc. and he then puts me on hold and calls the installer. He then proceeds to tell me that the problem must be with my phone because the installer has been trying to call me for the last three days. Now, the cool things about cell phones is that they track all incoming and outgoing calls, answered or not. And the fact is; BS! I have made and received numerous calls over the last several days and have received several voicemails. I just had my wife call and leave a message just to be sure. Everything works just fine. So here's the deal and your word of warning. This was/is a very simple little project, but if they can't even get the very first step of getting their "professional" out to measure, I can only imagine what the finished product would have looked like. When I asked for assistance, the employee acted completely inconvenienced, since he had to use the intercom to page someone else. Then no one showed up to assist. As I drag a 50 pound boxed dehumidifier through the entire store while pushing a cart not one worker, and I passed many, offered a helping hand! I stopped several times to stand up straight as my back wasn't liking this and to also catch my breath. Then...the cashier, a lady probably in her late 50's, seemed irritated at me that I wouldn't move to another cashier and I had said that my item was too heavy to drag elsewhere, but she still wasn't happy with me!!!!! Searching for a standard size entry door for our house we went to two other stores selling just doors and windows. One had no doors for display, no brochures to even look at, and said it would be at least 6 months before they could even get one. The other store said it would be 3 months minimum and did not really have what we wanted. We then stopped at this Lowes store. Several doors were on display and after waiting for Ken to assist another couple who was there first, he put his full attention on what our needs were. He basically designed a door for us using the computer choices. We appreciated and enjoyed his attention to detail and his knowledge. He assured the door would be in in about 49 days or sooner. We expressed when we came back we would purchase a storm door which was in stock when we picked up the other door. He said pay for it now as it is on sale. We would definitely do business with Ken again. He needs a bonus. read more

Horrible customer service. I ordered an item online and one of the Lowe's team members (named Jodi) called me and said that I must have been using an invalid promo code because the price was too low! Jodi then decided to cancel my order. So I called Lowe's corporate and asked them if the price for the item was correct. They said yes and I submitted the order again. Guess who calls me within 2 minutes of my order. Jodi, and she wants to cancel my order again. Thank goodness I still had corporate on the phone. I recently had Lowes install a window blind that I purchased. The installer had set the blind in the window sill of the window while he set up his ladder, as the window was high up. He accidentally bumped the blind. It fell knocking a large pot that fell down the stairs hitting my baby grand piano. The blind gouged my brand new hardwood floors. Lowe's is absolutely no help. They got their money and now its my problem. I have been trying to find someone to repair the floor but can't find anyone. I asked Lowes for help but they said they don't know anyone and this problem is between me and the installer. The moral to this story is this. Lowe's takes no responsibility for any work they charge you for. If something happens you are on your own. I am just saying BUYER BE WARE!!!! After being on hold foreverrrr they give you the run around on the phone not knowing where the purchases are. Called several (at least 5) times the day my refrigerator was "supposed" to be delivered, kept telling me it was coming by 9PM. Called at 8:50 PM & told me it was still coming!! Guess what, it didn't. Dishwasher was NOT delivered on time either! That order got lost, but purchased the same day as the fridge! People in individual departments are great, BUT- Customer service is completely inept. Every time I place an order (either online or specialty items ordered in-store), the pickup process is atrocious. Items are never ready to go. The customer service employees just keep picking up the phone calling for someone to go get the order, but nobody ever comes. The first time I waited patiently for 45 minutes and gave them the benefit of the doubt. Eventually the products came. Apparently "ready for pickup" means "unready, and it's going to take us ages to find it." How could it possibly take that long?! Second time I go to pick up the order thinking the first time had to have been a fluke. Wrong I was! Things began to unravel exactly as the first time. I wasn't going to wait this long again so I went to see if I could just go find what I ordered in the store before these fools could. I found what I ordered within a few minutes and brought it to the customer service counter. The lady says, "Sorry, we couldn't find your order." I said, "that's fine, because I did, I'm holding it right here." She said, "That's not your order." She then proceeds to show me that what I was holding didn't match an older order. I had to point out to her that the order she was looking at was old and had been picked up already. She typed on her computer and says, "Oh, THIS order?". Yes, duh. Holy crap. 2/2 on ridiculous "customer service" experiences. Enough for me. I usually like Lowes a lot, but have had some frustrating experiences at this location. The employees have been knowledgeable and helpful, and the selection and pricing is what I expect from Lowes. But have had trouble returning a few (unopened) things, and when I wanted to exchange a Kobalt ratchet screwdriver (that had broken but had a lifetime warranty) I was told I couldn't do so because the end cap on the handle was missing. It's a small plastic piece that I'm sure my kids unscrewed and lost years ago. Overall, though, a good store and a must for Home Improvement projects. read more
