Bryant M and Keith M took me floating for my birthday and it was the best present. I'm already huge on being in water in general. Baths are my jam. Swimming is the best. So when I heard about floating I was like "imma try that someday, probably". It is a little pricey to do on the reg when you don't have a full-time job (side-eyeing myself here), but I could see doing this a few times a year for sure even on my lean-ish budget. The first time you go, you sit through a video about how floating works. It's helpful. It's a sensory deprivation kind of experience, which is new to a lot of people who try it. What I want to impress is that the first visit will probably be an experimentation visit for the first part of it. Every floater seems to have a different comfort zone, and what compounds this is that you know you're SUPPOSED to be relaxing so if you don't get it right away, it can be a little stressful (like, maybe I'm broken because I can't relax?!). Don't stress. I fidgeted around quite a bit to find my sweet spot--I ended up propping the lid open on my pod, turning around so that my head was next to the cracked lid for fresh air (we were told a lot of people don't like to have their head down there in case of dripping, but in my case, the little bit of air coming in outweighed the potential dripping, which didn't even happen), and putting my hands on my belly instead of over my head. I took out my earplugs because the sound of my breathing was too loud (I have sinus issues) and used the neck pillow to keep my head out of the water. Once I found my spot? I didn't move for like 40 minutes, and it was awesome. Afterward, there's a lounge you can sit in to drink tea and use their oxygen bar. My only wish was that the oxygen bar had an unscented option, or mild-with-only-totally-natural-scents option. I'm really sensitive to smell and all of the scent options were brightly-colored so I was a little wary of them being artificial or overwhelming. I could only use it for a couple of minutes. This was the absolute worst experience. I get that the point is to remove stimulation, but that was impossible because the entire place smelled like sweat. There are no options for aromatherapy. I also was disturbed to find out that the water is filtered and re-used. The temperature of the water was not warm or cold, so it felt slimy and disgusting. The whole time you strain yourself to float in total silence and I kept bumping up against the walls of the pod as soon as I would start to "relax" and float. The air was muggy and humid. I ended my experience irritated and tense and wishing I had paid for massage or steam room, or taken a nap instead. read more

My husband used the float services for the first time this weekend, he was reluctant but I had a great experience previously and encouraged him to go with me when I floated. He has chronic pain due to many surgeries because of vascular disease, his peripheral neuropathy causes him to have difficulty in walking and sleeping. During his float he was able to move his ankles and feet better than he has in many years. Needless to say we will be floating on a regular basis now, we will be purchasing a membership this week. True Rest has became my favorite stress reliever.. It's like 30 sessions of yoga in a 1 hour session... After the first session you just feel more relaxed than ever before.. It's like an outer body experience where you go to this rested state that you have never been..once you go a few times you will start to look forward to the float where all of your daily pains and stresses just float away.. The Powell location is a little far for me so I'm happy Easton is opening soon...my favorite thing about True Rest is not only the oxygen bar and fresh tea after floating but Veterans get to float for free every 11th of the month.. The floats themselves are nice and all, but management is SHADY. Like most people on here, I had signed up for the Groupon and was convinced to try the basic package, which I enjoyed for a couple months. I was told I could cancel anytime before the following month. What they don't tell you is that canceling is A NIGHTMARE. I lost my job due to COVID in March and tried to cancel my membership through their website. I got an email back saying that I had to pay another month before I could cancel. And the cherry on top is that locations were closed for the entire month, so I WOULDNT EVEN GET TO USE THE FLOAT I WAS BEING FORCED TO PAY FOR!!Is that even legal? I tried to bring this up to the manager and got no response. I had some family crises to deal with during April so I pushed the issue on the back burner, until may when they charged me for YET ANOTHER MONTH, like they just ignored my cancel request! Now I have 2 MONTHS of charged floats that I CANT EVEN USE, not to mention I TRIED TO CANCEL. No surprise, when I sent another message I was told "a representative will call you as soon as possible". Still no call from anyone and my emails are being ignored. I AM WARNING YOU: IF YOU VALUE YOUR SANITY DO NOT SUPPORT THIS SHADY COMPANY. read more

It's one of the best decisions of my life. I saw the initial groupon and decided to give the tank a try after hearing about it on various podcasts. I'm into meditation as well. I was so excited to do flotation therapy for months. Groupon has a $39 special so I booked an appointment for this evening at 7pm. Around 6:20pm I headed towards Powell. At 6:34 I get a phone call. The caller said Hi this is Rachel from True Rest, where are you?! I said I was on my way for my 7pm appointment. She stated I was sent a confirmation email that I needed to be there at 6:30 for orientation. I said I didn't check my email since I received a text confirming today's date/7pm. She said since I'm not on time, and there are 4 people here who did check their email, she won't be able to start on time and I will lose 5-10 min of my float. I told her no, I'll be there on time and I have paid for an hour. She continued to talk over me repeatedly to tell me I'm not on time, and she has 4 witnesses in front of her to defend her that she isn't being rude to me how she is speaking so I said I'll be there and hung up. I arrive at 6:45. She came out briefly mumbling/talking to me to sign in or since she has called her manager on me already since I was late I can reschedule and get a free session. I would have originally cancelled on her after the phone call, but I am experiencing lower back pain and wanted relief from what I have read in the comments. A different girl came out and took me back and went over the instructions. I was so upset from how I was spoken to, it was difficult to really relax and enjoy the experience. So it felt like lukewarm water and I was a pong bouncing off one end from the other. When I went to pay and show my Groupon, Rachel was the one who checked me out. She asked how did I enjoy my experience? I said I enjoyed everything except you. She said I don't have to be rude then she called her manager and I don't know if she was talking to her or leaving her a voicemail, but she stated she has a rude irate customer in front of her. Rachel pulled my session up and said I had a $2.00 balance. I said that's fine, the screen she had up said $42.58, so just to be clear I asked "you are only charging me $2 right. She said yes, that's what I told you already then Rachel grabbed from the other room another paying customer to come out and be a witness to the situation since I told her the perception I have was her being rude this whole time. The other customer looked confused so I just asked for my phone back, and to get me out of this unprofessional establishment. Rachel still had her phone to her face with her manager and was trying to convince the other customer I was irate then said I needed to leave before she called the police. read more

When I first thought about going to float, I was incredibly nervous. Floating has been advertised with numerous health benefits. Many have said that there are many problems that only floating can fix. The staff at True Rest was very patient and understanding of my nervousness. They made everyone feel comfortable and welcome. I've now been to True Rest 10 times, the experience gets better with each visit! Not only does floating do wonders for my chronic illnesses, but the staff is always helpful and attentive. Beware: the Groupon for this place is almost a scam. So I won a few free floats for this place, and liked it so much that I bought 2 extra ones through Groupon. So today after my last free float, I told the lady at the front desk that I wanted to book the ones I got through Groupon. She said well I wouldn't be able to use them because Groupons for True Rest are for first time floaters only!! So I wasted almost $90 buying 2 future floats only to be told I cannot even use them? She said the other option would be to use them towards a membership. Um, I'm a cancer patient and can't afford a damn membership. And guess what? This float was a waste cause I am the farthest thing from relaxed now. And even if it is in the fine print - why would they let you purchase more than one for yourself if it's for first timers only? And why is that even an issue? It's not like these floats are cheap!! Ugh. I am so upset and disappointed right now. That $90 could've gone to something else that could've made me more comfortable while I'm receiving my treatments, like toe warmers, a nice blanket, or even a hair cut and color! This was supposed to be a nice relaxing thing to make me forget I have cancer, yet here I am feeling like businesses like this are a societal cancer... At the end of the day today I am left with nothing but wasted money because I did not even receive "true rest." read more

I went to True REST Powell​ hoping that I could float in the pod for the full hour. It was amaze-balls. If you are on the fence about trying it, just do it. You will not feel claustrophobic, you will not be bored, your skin will not dry out. You will feel relaxed, energized and have a sense of calm that is difficult to describe. This is my second visit. My first visit was amazing, great service and great experience. During our first time we asked about bringing our 13 year old son, who struggles with anxiety. They encouraged us to make him an appointment. So we went for our second visit, booked two rooms (one for me, one for my son). I called to confirm the appointment (spoke with Christy, who confirmed my son could float alone, in his own room). So we made a day of it, shopping and dinner. Good quality mother/son time. We showed up for the appt and we were told "we don't know why Christy told you that, he cannot float alone". I argued, asked that the manager be consulted, as he is a month away from turning 14, their required age for floating alone. They refused, so now he is floating and I have to sit in the room with him (which is not fun for a 13 year old) and I had to cancel my float. They actually didn't care about it at all, they guy at the counter said he was new, laughed it off and said "don't kill the messenger". Overall, great experience, but HORRIBLE customer service. Beware - you will be texting with a computer, not a live person although you won't be told that. I called to book an appointment for the first time and received an automated message indicating that they were away from the phone with no option to leave a v-mail so I hung up. This call generated a text from a computer, although I had no idea it was a computer. After 30 minutes trying to book an appointment via text messaging and indicating that I had a float pass (not a gift certificate), the computer kept asking me for a gift certificate number. I sent photos of the pass and asked if they had received it. Of course I didn't get a response because I'm texting with a computer (but don't know this yet). After 30 minutes, I'm still nowhere and ask to speak to someone on the phone (but of course the computer doesn't understand this request). So I do get a follow up call from a live person and he tells me I've been exchanging with a computer and that the computer didn't understand what I was saying and kept making excuses for it. We get cut off, he calls back and leaves a v-mail and I call back and of course receive the outgoing message which triggers another computer generated text. I'm done. For a place that is supposed to provide relaxation, this is not only deceptive but rather stressful. Maybe booking online is a better option. Good luck!! read more

The staff was friendly and the rooms were clean, so I'll bump it up a few stars given they have no control over how anyone will react to the float itself. That being said I just didn't really have the same relaxing experience as others. The raving reviews would lead you to believe that everyone would have an amazing, out of body, relaxing experience here. My friend who referred me raves about it and even has a membership. So I know it's enjoyable for most. That was the opposite of my experience. I couldn't relax, the air in the pod room and pod itself was suffocatingly warm and stuffy, and because I wore ear plugs (which the guide told me were necessary- but reading reviews it doesn't seem that way), all I could focus on was the loud sound of my breathing in my head. In hindsight the ear plugs may have been one of the major issues easily eliminated. Maybe I didn't give it enough of a chance. I kept hitting the sides of the pod while I was floating and I had to keep sitting up to adjust the pod door - open, propped open, closed again, just to get some air flow. I just couldn't get it to work for me. The silence was also deafening once the music stopped.. I think there should be an option for music the whole time. I ended up stopping my float halfway through, even though the nice instructional video advised against that and to stick it out....I couldn't get out of there fast enough and won't be returning. Sooo glad I bought the Groupon vs full price. I left feeling more stressed out than when I arrived. read more

Having a high stress job and a brain that never powers down, I learned about the float spa from Groupon. I did a lot of research into this spa as well as the concept of floating too before buying the 2 Groupons. Booking online was a breeze, and I received a followup phone call confirmation from a very nice staff person. We arrived about 35 minutes early to go on the tour, and watch a video and answer any questions that we might have had. Once it was time, we were shown to our float rooms. The shower area is beautiful, and pristine clean. I love the rain shower shower head!! You get into your float pod (suits are optional) and you can leave the hatch open or closed. I opted for closed. After about 5 minutes into my float the music went off and so did the lights. I was blissfully floating in 10 inches of water effortlessly, in complete blackout darkness... It took awhile for my brain to slow down and just relax, but once I did it was amazing, I honestly did NOT want to get out. my husband who also floated has deteriorating spinal disk disease and is always in back pain. we've been home for 3 hours now and he still has absolutely no back pain. While they do offer memberships here, there is NO pressure to buy which I appreciated, and I honestly have more respect for the company because I never felt pressured. I understand they are opening another spa near Easton in Columbus, and at that point I can almost assure that I will buy a membership. I honestly felt more relaxed in here in 1 session than any massage or facial combined. I was "float drunk" as 1 of the owners called it. Driving home was fun because normally I'm A++ road rage personality, and I didn't have a care in the world driving home, I was in such a stage of contentment!! I have heard you either love it, or you don't.. well, I didn't care to much for it.. yes, you watch a video of flashing lights and abstract lines at first to relax you and clear your mind, then they take you to the Pod room and instruct you to shower first before entering the Pod, and afterwards to clean your body of the salts, which I did.. Its very humid and warm in the room cause the water is body temperature, 98'. So I enter the Pod and lean back to float and yes, it was pretty awesome to feel weightless and like you were floating in space.. then the lights go out and you can turn on lights inside the Pod, which I did, to get my baring's cause I got very disoriented once the lights went out. It was very weird, like I was flipping over in the air, hard to describe, but I didn't care for the feeling.. so I tried to relax and calm my mind.. after about 40 minutes of lights on, lights off in the Pod, I finally was able to relax enough to enjoy the Pod for the last 15 minutes, but was never able to fully relax or go to sleep as some people say they do. Also, if you close the Pod all the way, its very silent, you can actually hear your heart beating its that silent. You can prop the lid open with a towel if you feel Closter phobic. It was odd though, even though I was floating in water, it felt as though I was laying on a hard board.. LOL.. I'm not sure, maybe I just had a really bad experience, but I didn't care for it and won't be returning.. My husband on the other hand loved it and bought a package to return several times. So it just depends on the individual.. read more

I suffer from chronic pain after 6 spinal surgeries. My spine is fused with hardware cervical to sacral over75 percent. I Heard about True Rest and thought why not? I would like to personally thank Pat, Katie, Tina, and Crissy at the front desk for immediately making this experience tremendous from the very beginning to the moment i finally walked out the front door. The staff are GENUINELY caring and they have a family like atmosphere that translates into their work and customer care. The spa itself appears very sterile and Crissy's homemade tea was a great pick-up after getting out of the pod. This was my first float ( as it was for many there that day ) so the staff take care to make sure you get the very basics to make certain you get the most out of your experience. There is an introduction video that I found helpful, even after the research I did online, and it definitely mitigated some problems I know I would have had trouble with and lost valuable time figuring out. If you have never floated before and are having reservations about the price or the supposed benefits, all I can suggest is to try it with an open mind and be goal oriented. I had an idea that I would be relaxed at the very least but I now liken it to be more of a reset. Even the Columbus rush hour traffic couldn't cut through the good mood I was in on the way back home.
