I Rarely review a business twice, but this place NEEDS an updated review and it is not gonna be a good one! Made reservations through the open table app. It was on a Friday afternoon with the weather being nice and sunny so thought it would be nice to sit on the patio. Upon checking in with the hostess, was greeted by a very not so friendly hostess. Upon me asking if the patio is available, she said "only inside is available"..... No sorry no smile no nothing...... Excuse me for bringing this up, but if you Miss Hostess does not want to work, nobody forced you to do so...... God!!!! Upon sitting down, the inside temperature was freezing. Felt like just stepped into a fridge or something. Anyways, ordered a hamburger (WELL DONE) and a chopped salad. The chopped salad was delicious! The hamburger was RAW inside. The side of fries had the weirdest taste. The waitress was nice and apologized. I asked for the manager because he needs to know the issue and try to fix it so it doesn't happen again. When the manager came to the table, he started lectureing me that this is not raw and it is just medium well. Ummmm..... First of all Mr. Manager, your opinion does not matter, second of all, I asked for Well Done, regardless of what it is....... GOD!!!! He said if I want a replacement, I said nope, thanks. He took it off the bill and whatever the amount of the dish was, I added as a tip for the waitress. Because it is not her fault that the chef doesn't know how to cook or the manager doesn't have the skills to be a manager. I tend to come back here since it's dog friendly but the food has only gotten progressively worse over the years. Had the chicken mozzarella panini and turkey burger this time with the air fried fries as a sauce. Turkey burger was dry. The patty had an odd texture to it. The chicken mozzarella panini was really not much better but had a little more flavor. The fries were the worst. They were bland and some of the pieces had the texture of cardboard or were so hard I thought I'd break a tooth. Could've used salt at the minimum. Service started off ok but we were basically forgotten about once we got our food. Had to wait a long time to grab the attention of our server to get our check. My friend and I stopped by this restaurant for a quick lunch while shopping, and we had a great experience! I ordered from the brunch menu, while my friend went with the veggie burger. We had an event here in the conference room a couple weeks back and our server was primarily Sarah and secondary support from a gentleman named Steven. I just want to share that they were absolute rock stars for us! They were kind, attentive, pleasant, on the ball. They kept track of everybody's stuff, everybody's orders. They were super facilitative and accommodative for everything that we needed done. They gave us some perks and tips to really get the most out of our event cost and just really make it be next level for us and for the staff and just everybody so I just wanted to share that they are complete and total rock stars! The food here was excellent, the service was excellent, and Sarah, who was our main server was just a complete and total Sweetheart. She is absolutely wonderful. Steven, even prior to the event starting made me some absolutely delicious espresso twice at the bar while I was waiting for the rest of our staff members and the sales manager to arrive and The Coffee was absolutely delicious. Sarah even was nice enough to make a cute little cat face on my coffee when I got it and it pretty much just made my night. If you have an event or a conference or anything that you need to do here, they are second to none. I'm so grateful for all the kind service and great food and next level treatment that we receive from both Sarah and Steven they were wonderful. And thank you to the great chefs at True Foods because you knocked it out out of the park! Our experience was shocking! We asked the waitress to recommend a dish with no sugar (diabetic friendly) and one of the dishes in question was glass noodle dish because on the menu it doesn't say what type of sauce they use, she said that the sauce was soy based and assured the dish was safe to eat. We all have allergies and specific diets (unfortunately) and that is why we went there, because they have all this delicious and healthy options and we used to go to the one in San Diego and never had any issues. 45 minutes later (restaurant had 4 tables in use, so basically empty) our food came, we are kind of anxious and very hungry. I tasted the glass noodles and commented that is was too sweet at first bite. Waitress kind of annoyed assured the sauce was soy based. After eating we asked the manager about the sauce because it felt very sweet, so he went to the kitchen and asked and of course the sauce was super sweet, sugar, sugar, sugar!! Ended up with a special medication at home for a huge spike in sugar level! How incredibly dangerous this was!! Any life threatening allergy, or a DIABETIC should be confident that what we are eating is what we are told! I couldn't believe it! This never happened to me before anywhere, not to mention that my friend's meal came out wrong and when asked about what was missing, that was big part of the dish (avocado) the waitress was annoyed. Never apologized for her mistake, never approached the table or acted worried at all after we talked to the manager. I have to say the manager was very worried and apologetic and that we didn't make a scene or were aggressive or rude to anyone. A formal complaint will be made because it could have ended horribly bad. I hope the staff there gets well trained on their menu to be able to give an accurate and responsible answer to any requests and questions from costumers. I had their grass fed / grass finished burger and my guest had pancakes. Burger wasn't seasoned well and the bun was not great (and beat up -- see picture). The burger had fries as a plus up option (instead of a side salad). The fries were air fryer fries and they weren't great. The burger was just 'ok' ... and for $19.95 +$2.50 for the fries... you want a great burger. The blueberry pancakes were whole grain, which wasn't mentioned on the menu... and it was a bummer because whole grain pancakes just don't hit like good old fashioned pancakes. $15.50 for pancakes with no side of ham or egg seemed like a lot. The whole grain didn't work... plus they tasted like the flat top. I wonder if the cook didn't wipe the flat top down before making the pancakes. The beverage game is solid. Refresher juices are really good and are very fresh and well balanced. I like that they have a variety of cocktails to try and a range of price points. Maybe I should have ordered straight up healthy options instead of a burger and pancakes... but the food wasn't worth it. Very attentive service. Host stand did a nice job as well. I was a little underwhelmed - I've heard so many good things about True Food Kitchen that I think my expectations were high. I ordered the Grilled Chicken and Mozzarella Sourdough Panini. Based on the picture and description it looked / sounded really good. Unfortunately, what I received didn't look anything like the photo. I could tell that the ingredients were quality (organic and fresh) and that it was on the healthier side which I appreciate but the presentation was lacking. Based on what I received and the cost I don't think I'd order from here again. Expect to wait 35 + minutes for to-go orders too FYI (on busy days/the weekend). We came to True Food Kitchen in Newport Beach for Sunday brunch a couple of weeks ago, and we had such a great experience from beginning to end! First, the location is incredible--the surrounding area and views are absolutely mesmerizing. And if you don't want to deal with parking, they offer valet for around $10, which for me is always worth it. I'd much rather pay the $10 and not have to worry about finding a spot! As soon as we walked in, we were greeted by the sweetest host. Unfortunately, I don't remember her name, but she was adorable and so welcoming. My son had forgotten his phone charger, and she even let him borrow one so he could charge his phone. It was such a small gesture, but those are the little things you remember. We decided to sit at the bar, which is beautiful and very clean, and we were immediately greeted by Sarah. Nowadays, it feels rare to find that old-school kind of customer service--someone who genuinely makes you feel welcome and seems happy to take care of you. Sarah was exactly that. She walked us through the menu, shared some of her favorite recommendations, and paid attention to all the little details. She made me a delicious coffee with cinnamon, exactly the way I like it. She got it down perfectly! My son was also recovering from having a little too much fun the night before , and Sarah recommended a recovery juice that he absolutely loved. We both ordered the Ranchers Hash, and it was DELICIOUS. What I especially appreciated was the portion size. So many times you go out for breakfast or brunch, eat way too much, and spend the rest of the day regretting it. This felt like the perfect balance--fresh, wholesome ingredients, great flavor, and a portion that actually leaves you feeling good afterward. I also have to mention Steven, who was working alongside Sarah. The two of them make a great team. Their personalities and energy balance each other really well, and both were incredibly kind and attentive. You can tell when a restaurant has good team morale because it translates directly into the customer experience. Everyone seemed to genuinely enjoy working together while still providing fast, prompt, attentive service. The restaurant itself is beautiful and clean, the food was excellent, and the service was wonderful--but the highlight of our visit was definitely Sarah. I really wanted to love this place. I've ordered takeout from here multiple times before with no issues, so I had high expectations for an in-person visit. Here's the problem: quality control just isn't there anymore. I ordered a salad and the avocado on top was clearly rotten. Not slightly bruised - I'm talking black, mushy, oxidized to the point of being inedible. It looked like it had been sitting out for days. For a salad that cost well over $20, that's unacceptable. I took two bites, felt my stomach turn, and put the fork down. The rest went in the trash. As a mid-to-high-end spot in Newport Beach that charges premium prices for clean eating, this fails the kitchen standards. Someone prepped that salad, someone plated it, and someone sent it out. No one noticed? Or worse - no one cared? To be fair: service was fine, the space is nice. Hummus with pita tastes great. But after this meal, my stomach literally felt off for hours - the opposite of what "healthy eating" should do. I won't be coming back. This restaurant theme is healthy, and I get that healthy may mean less tasty, but wow, this was worse than eating frozen lean cuisines. The "frites" are air fried and they are just plain not good. TFK has been my go-to spot for a long time now - I know their menu caters to everyone's dietary choices and limitations. So I invited friends to meet up here today an and had a horrible experience. Service was non-existent - when we eventually went inside to try and order we were chided and asked to return to our table and wait for a server. I can't believe the staff here gets to treat customers like this. Our food was stale - the Brussels sprouts was actually smelling. Separately, earlier today, I ordered a matcha - requesting whole milk. The barista gave me almond milk. When I returned after taking a sip and realizing their mistake - and requested it with whole milk again - the person at the counter claimed I was lying and in fact must have ordered almond because the order slip says so. As in, they didn't/ couldn't make a mistake but a customer is wrong!? The barista then goes on to remember I did say whole milk but then adds it ids "pre-made matcha" and hence tasted as if it's in almond milk. WTH!?!? No manager in sight. Gotta be honest, the quality of the offerings has slumped. I had the spicy panang curry with salmon. The salmon was dry. Not very fresh and the curry was watery. It used to be thick and more savory. Watched several other waitstaff walk by me several times; would have appreciated a simple acknowledgment that someone would be with me soon. Eventually the young lady who waited on the other party across the room came to take my order. Will see where it goes from here... So far, classic margarita was decent. Rancher's hash breakfast was flavorful but could have used a little more sweet potato. Meat was a bit tough. Eggs were perfect and enjoyed the sourdough. Overall food was good. I've never been here when it wasn't slammed. We ordered the tomato basil soup, margarita pizza, Grass-fed burger with side salad and a sparkling water. The soup was so clean and fresh. No dairy, no oil on top just clean and yummy. The pizza, which is sourdough fermented for 24 hours, was so good. I cannot eat pizza, the gluten crushes me, but this pizza made by the gods gave me zero reaction. And lastly the grass-fed burger on that perfect flax seed bun with grilled onions and mushrooms with arugula and some yummy avocado oil aoli. Fire! I've been coming to True Food Kitchen for years, and unfortunately, this visit was incredibly disappointing. The food is just not the same anymore. It started with my favorite item on the menu, the Edamame Dumplings. They used to be amazing, but they've clearly changed the recipe, and they were nowhere near as good as they used to be. My son, who absolutely loves burgers and almost always finishes them, didn't even finish his. That alone says a lot. The only thing we really enjoyed was the fresh juice, but even that isn't made fresh to order anymore like it used to be. If you're a longtime customer, don't be surprised if your favorite dishes don't taste the same. Sadly, the quality and flavors have changed, and not for the better. The only reason I'm giving this place two stars instead of one is because our server at the bar was incredibly kind, attentive, and provided excellent service. I got the TFK Classic Chicken Sandwich with a gluten free bun, from the True Crisp'd menu. Everything on that part of the menu is air fried, gluten free and 100% seed oil free... phenomenal! Our waiter Jose was so nice when I told him I had a gluten allergy, he gave me recommendations. Most of my experiences with gluten free bread haven't been good but this place was AMAZING!
