They are the best. Jeff came promptly for quote and arrived exactly when he said he would for both quote and moving. Jeff, Nathan ( learning the trade) and I'm blocking Jeff's experienced other mover's name, I'm sorry. They were careful with antiques , they tightened down fastenings in a desk I put together, took apart an antique headboard/ frame. I had a few heavy things they were able to maneuver well. Putting all furniture in POD-and garage wasn't straight forward due to uneven terrain of my yard. I'm having them return to replace furniture when my floors are done. Super company, personable,professional and caring about my furniture. The Items in the POD are staying on property; flexibility in placing items probably made items easier to position. Had it been moved, I feel they would take the same consideration to place items appropriately. Can't recommend Truckee Movers enough. read more

I was planning to move via a friend driving a U-Haul from Truckee to Roseville last week. At the last minute the forecast changed and my friend wasn't comfortable driving the truck over the summit in the snow. I called Truckee Movers about 4:30 in the afternoon the day before the move and they were able to accommodate me at 9:30 the next day. With help from my son, Andy packed the truck and moved my belongings (mostly boxes) into storage in Roseville. He was AWESOME. Super nice guy, very careful and quick, and able to fit everything into a 10'x12' storage shed. They were extremely flexible with my move from a storage unit in Sacramento to my new home in Portola Ca. 5.0 star rating 1/21/2016 We recently hired Truckee Movers to install a large sectional sofa-sleeper in the second story living room of our vacation home. We had been working with a different moving company in the vicinity but they were unwilling/unable to deal with this particular furniture (ostensibly) due to the challenges our home's particular architecture presented. Truckee Movers was familiar with the furniture manufacturer's disassembly instructions and dealt with this adeptly whereas the other company was not willing to attempt this. They devised a plan to hoist the (heavy/cumbersome) sections up onto the 2nd story balcony and then through the tight, narrow turns of each doorway and then set them into place. The team of three guys were good natured and worked well together in a rather daunting situation. As another reviewer mentioned - they all demonstrated a "Can Do" spirit!. I would recommend them to anyone needing this type of service in the Tahoe/Donner area and only wish that we had known to contract with them for our entire move. P.S. Friendly and super efficient staff helped us empty the contents of our 10 x 40 storage unit in just a little over an hour. They moved our belongings and helped us assemble all our furniture, going above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect. They were polite, careful, and I can't say enough good things about everybody we dealt with. 1/3/18 I wish I could give this company even less than one star, it's unfortunate because they've been so good to us before. Last week my father and I made arrangements to have a couple of guys get a truck out to help us change storage units, bring some stuff to our home, as well as bring some stuff to the dump. We were told by the office to meet at the storage unit at 12 pm and wait for the movers to come help us. Over an hour passes by without a single notification or phone call from them, until we took the initiative of calling Truckee Movers ourselves to see what was going on. We come to find out, they were way behind schedule with other clients and could meet us later in the day. We had our own schedule to tend to though. Because of our busy day, we made an appointment with Jenny in the Truckee Movers offices for the next day to meet with them at 11 am, no big deal, people have unexpected things happen. Besides, they've been good to us in the past so why wouldn't they come through for us? After we were originally supposed to meet with Truckee Movers, hours later, I got a call on my phone from one of the guys who was supposed to meet us at 12, telling me he had other stops that took longer than he thought and asked if we could still meet him later that day. Which we found to be odd because Jenny told us there was only one job that morning before us. Considering our schedule I said no, so did my father, but he kept being persistent about meeting us. I gave the phone to my father to speak to the mover and let him know that it was going to have to be tomorrow, because the moving guy on the phone simply wasn't understanding me and what I was telling him. He then told my father that he was told by his superiors to meet us between 1-3 pm. What? How does that make sense? Either he was backed up with other people, or he was told by his boss to meet us between 1-3 pm. Which is it? We knew to meet at 12 because that's what the Truckee Movers office told us. This guy was telling two different stories to my father and I that were completely different from the Truckee Movers offices. In the background he could hear me say how their tardiness/absence "has messed up our whole day and schedule", the mover on the other end of the phone became very irate at that point. He was trying to get us to work with him that same day and trying to make us wait even longer at the storage place for him, because he had the following day off and he wanted it to stay that way. My father and I were trying to talk with him on what would be a good time to meet him the following day, around 9 o'clock, when he rudely said "I'll see what works" and slammed the phone/hung up on my father. I personally have never been treated so disrespectfully and inconsiderately by such a reputable place and especially by such an immature, child-like employee. I guess that moving guy doesn't have to worry about dealing with us anymore, we chose to call and work with another moving company in the area. We will never use Truckee Movers services ever again, rest assured. I hope that moving guy has the best day off he's ever had in his life, he most surely deserves it. read more

I wish I had 100 stars. This is the best moving company I ever worked with - and we moved internationally with some of the big names. These guys were so careful, they didn't mind stepping over or around my super old dog, they helped me unpack my car, they are SUPER STARS. We used them for a move from the Bay Area to Truckee, we packed all our own boxes, however the large TV needed packing by them - they did a fabulous job carefully and securely packing it. Part of our belongings had to go into a house, the other part into their storage. Everything was color coded which made their work easier. I provided coffee and lunch which was truly appreciated. keep up the great work! read more

I've been meaning to write this for awhile. Truckee Movers is my go-to moving company (3x moves). They're simply amazing. 100% professional, nice, and careful. A few months ago, they moved a bunch of stuff from SF to Incline. They went above and beyond to make it work. They made the trip down the mountain on the exact day I needed with two weeks notice (my building only gave us a small window because other units had pre-scheduled moves). They were able to get me packed in just a few hours, and head back up the hill. A heavy snow storm was setting in, but that didn't deter them. However, it did deter me. My tires were a little worn and I was concerned about driving in the snow. This was a problem because I was supposed to be on site the next morning for the drop-off. But the guys were awesome. They said, "give us the key, we'll get you moved it." So while I drove up the next day, they unpacked the truck - furniture and all - down a 100' path in over a foot of snow. By the time I arrived in the afternoon, they were done and gone. My instructions were followed to a "t". Everything was neatly organized in the condo, in the correct rooms as marked. Safe and sound. What a huge relief. And I didn't even have to be there. I'm a nitpicker when it comes to my stuff, and they couldn't have been more respectful. One other side note: Truckee Movers is one of the very few "local" moving companies that holds both CA and NV licenses. The national chains would have done my move, but wanted crazy-exorbitant rates for crossing state lines and couldn't do it on short notice. The local San Francisco moving companies would move me to Truckee, but either couldn't or didn't want to move me across the state line. Truckee Movers saved my bacon and I'm a fan. read more

My best move experience ever! Dillon and team moved my entire house from Sonoma to Kings Beach and carefully placed everything in my garage while my new floors were going in. They drove three hours to Sonoma, got there on time, packed it all up, and made it three hours back up to Kings Beach in time to unload on the same day. Yesterday, they were back (three months later) to move everything into the house. Again, they were extremely careful and efficient. My move included a baby grand piano going up several stairs and a driveway that is similar to Lombard Street in San Francisco (only narrower and steeper). When the guys scratched the side of my washing machine, they immediately asked me to come downstairs to check out the damage (it was just a scratch). I was really impressed that they were so upfront and honest. Friendly, polite, and thoughtful. All around, a great job! read more

These guys did a local move for us (Tahoe Vista to Truckee) and they were GREAT. They were efficient, hard working, and CAREFUL. After putting in a full day they were still super diligent not to scrape walls or door frames when moving furniture into rooms. Their pricing was very reasonable, and their pricing structure was very flexible - it worked well for us as we didn't anticipate everything up-front. They ended up moving more items than we anticipated, and we ran out of time packing so Truckee Movers ended up doing more packing than planned. Nothing got broken in our move. Watching these guys work took a lot of the stress out of the move -- we knew they were careful and we felt immediately comfortable with everyone in the moving crew. I would not hesitate to use Truckee Movers again (I doubt I'd even talk to other movers if I had to move again). Truckee Movers gets my highest recommendation. read more
