EDIT: They finally called and the trailer was eventually dropped off 4 hours late. I still can only leave two-stars due to the stress and worry I suffered through for the entire day. Original Review: Unbelievable! Delivery was supposed to be today between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. I called several times and was guaranteed I would have delivery today. Never heard from the truck driver for drop off. I hired movers for Saturday and now I'm going to be out $600 because Upack did not follow through and deliver like they promised. I used U-pack moving, to move my home across country. During the entire process, I had to make several changes to the dates of the pick up and drop off and they were very responsive and provided quick feedback and updated charges along the way. When the truck arrived, the driver was very informative and explained how to use the ramp and how to load the trailer. As promised, they notified me when my truck was ready to be delivered and I was pleasantly surprised that there was no damage due to drivers actions. I highly recommend their service to anyone for short or long term moving. read more

The truck came and went when it was supposed to. That worked. They said I needed 5' and sent a 30' truck instead of a pod. And then the truck sat 100 miles away for 4 days, apparently needing me to "release" it, which I was never told I needed to do. Having to negotiate the parking, for days, of a30' truck instead of a 10' pod was a royal pain all around. A challenge I did not understand fully. But that's not why the 1 star review. The one star review is because I used their recommended movers, who I would like very much to ensure ceases to exist. Moving Staffers,their recommended movers, were incredibly expensive, and essentially picked up labor on a corner somewhere--and paid them about $25/hour while billing me $175. And let me tell you, they weren't worth $25/hour. My three year old nephew understands the principles of stacking boxes better than these guys. These guys used **wardrobe boxes** as a base layer. They paid no attention to things marked fragile. They didn't bother to use the moving blankets I purchased. They only stacked 2/3 of the way up the truck, and thus cost me an additional 3' in the truck ($420). At least half the boxes came off the truck crushed. Three broken lamps. Two crushed tubs. My box spring has a broken strut. Three crushed wardrobe boxes (that's $50). And I just unloaded the truck, I have no idea what damage I will find in the crushed boxes. And they aren't liable. They are only liable if I saw them damage something while loading, or if I also used them to unload-- and after the incompetence I saw in their loading, I cancelled them for unloading (they also took 5 hours to do a two hour job. I was able to refuse to pay for the extra three hours). So, I had competent movers unloading me, but I can't hold Moving Staffers-- U-Pack's recommended movers-- responsible for the damages to my belongings. I wish zero stars was an option. read more

This is an overall review of U-Pack and my full experience but I have information included about how dealing with the facility in Sparks specifically went as well :) First: I WOULD use them again, because of the price. I only paid $860 to move my stuff from Oregon to Reno. There was only one issue that came up, but I'll get to it. Also worth noting that when I was requesting my trailer, I was under the assumption they provided the loading/unloading help because it's an option on their site and when selected, the price is added, however these are just estimates and you will have to schedule this yourself. I was going through it pretty quick, so that's probably why I was confused, but important to keep in mind. They dropped a trailer off at my home in Oregon within 3 days of requesting one, a Wednesday. I was able to get help with loading from Moving Staffers (the company they recommend) the day after that (Thursday), then on Friday a driver from U-Pack picked the trailer up. So that all moved pretty fast. I received no updates after this. I was checking daily on my moving dashboard on their site to see if/when I'd get an updated arrival estimate but my tracking never moved from "Picked Up". I had a lot going on so I didn't bother calling until the day of my estimated arrival (I really should have done so sooner) and that's when I learned someone input my information in wrong (or something) and that was what prevented me from receiving any updates. My shipment had actually already made it to their facility in Sparks by this time and I didn't even get a call. I didn't ask how long it's been there because I almost didn't want to know because I didn't want to get frustrated about it. If you find yourself in a similar situation (not receiving ANY updates), call them sooner than I did!! Unfortunately the apartment I have been moving into has absolutely no room for a trailer to sit overnight so instead I had to find some local movers to go to the Sparks facility with me to unload my U-Pack trailer, load their trailer, then take to my apartment. I had originally paid for Door-To-Door delivery but U-Pack refunded me when I told them I had to do it this way instead :) 12/6/19: My experience at the Sparks facility was pleasant. I had to go into the office to sign some papers and when I was doing that they got my trailer out to be ready for when my movers arrived. Everyone was friendly and on top of everything. Also worth noting I only ended up using 4 feet in the trailer, so they also refunded me for the length I had originally paid for and didn't use. On their site they say their minimum is 5ft, but I actually paid for 6ft, so I think that's their new minimum. Still, not going to make a big deal about that when I already saved so much money by using them. I was getting other quotes from $3500 and up for the same move. If you can load and unload your trailer yourself, you'll save even more. I honestly spent more on help loading and unloading then I did on U-Pack so I recommend it if you have the ability and willingness to do so. But, overall, I still saved more than I would have if I went with another moving company. I also have to mention that every time I DID call U-Pack with questions, I've always talked to the nicest employees. Even if there was a mess up with my paperwork at some point, everyone was super helpful and friendly. I would use this service again and recommend to my friends and family if they are trying to save money while moving. read more

The whole process with U-Pack was easy and seamless! Delivery of the cube was timely, it arrived cross country early!! And scheduling delivery of my cube at the destination was a breeze!! All set up, our house packed and ready and the other company didn't show up when promised. They kept saying they'll be there..they never showed on time and we had to be out..so last minute i called Upack. They were so kind and professional and showed up within hours. The 1st time it was from Vancouver Washington to Reno and this time from Reno to Fountain Valley California. I highly recommend Upack and ABF Transportation. Upack staff were always so courteous and helpful. But ABF Transportation here in Reno is absolutely the best. Their customer service is top notch . They confirmed the trailer drop off the day before, the trailer was dropped off when they said it would be, the driver explained the process so I understood and because I had such a small load, they picked up the trailer the same day because they couldn't the next day due to how busy they are. U-Pack is a great option for DIY moving. For our recent inter-state move, we chose the U-Pack trailer option and found it to be the most cost effective choice available. Having moved many times, we have used Uhaul, Full Service moving companies, and hybrid services in the past. U-Pack was convenient and flexible on price based on the amount of space used rather than weight, which is much easier to determine and understand when packing and loading. The timing and flexibility in scheduling also worked well for us. They allow 3 days to load and 3 days to unload, which in our case was more than enough time. There are three difficulties that users should consider. The first is to make sure there is enough room for a 30 foot semi trailer to park on your street at both loading and unloading locations. We have understanding neighbors on both ends who were good enough to move cars and give us the space needed for the trailer, all it took was having a conversation in advance. Another issue is the height of the trailer. They supply a ramp that is fairly steep. For larger, heavier items, 3 strong people and a dolly are necessary. The third difficulty is their delivery/pick up scheduling. At both pick up and delivery locations, the window for drop off, when someone needs to be available, is 8am to 8pm. They will call about an hour in advance, but they cannot seem to provide any better scheduling, which is difficult when trying to coordinate a schedule with others. One other issue we experienced that may be different for others is the equipment they provide for the ramp and bulkhead are "well used". We had to repair the bulkhead before it could be secured and the ramp, while usable, was damaged and needed service. The company needs to remember their customers may not be very handy nor should they have to fix their equipment. We expect it to work as advertised and keep it simple. Hopefully this was an isolated issue. The total cost for our move using U-Pack was much lower than any other quote we received AND we didn't have to drive an uncomfortable moving truck! We would definitely recommend U-Pack to others. read more

I sold my house and needed to send my washer and dryer a large wood and mirror corner cabinet and about 12 boxes to my daughter in another state. This was an easy solution the only reason for a 4 star instead of 5 was the site on my end didn't show up to pick up the cube the day they were supposed too and didn't call to let me know. I had to call them that evening only to be told there was a problem and they couldn't make it out that day. I would have been nice if they called to let me know. read more

I am so happy that I used this company. I checked with uhaul and penske and a few other trucks and pod places before picking this one. I went from Reno to LA. After including gas and a tow package for my car and the cost that gas would be, Uhaul just about matches the cost of 3 pods. Penske was cheaper but still after gas not too much cheaper. They drop off your pods, give you 5 days to load it then deliver it in my case in 2 business days (but they will hold it for 3 days for you if you need them to). Then you have 5 more business days to unload and also can pay when they drop it off at your new place which is pretty awesome. If you needed a little extra time with Uhaul it would be a daily expense. The only reason it didn't get 5 stars is because the storage is a little expensive ($125 a month) and they don't pro-rate. But this was my best and easiest moving experience by far. read more

After multiple calls we were told that there would be one driver to shuffle all of the trailers around which includes picking up 3 trailers and dropping off trailers at two houses only a couple blocks from each other. It is now after noon and the only thing that's happened is two trailers were dropped off at my parents house. One driver for two households. Absolutely unex exceptable!! Very economical compared to PODs and a rental truck We used a trailer and that would have been great, except it did spring a leak in the rain. U-Pack was professional and informative. I scheduled my move, executed loading the truck without a hitch. My items were delivered as planned, with the bulkhead in place (to separate my items from other freight) and my items untouched. We were allowed to keep the trailer for 3 days, with prompt pickup after we emptied it. I was very pleased with the process. The only downside was that they did not deliver the trailer or pods to my origin location, which was a remote area in Northern California. Call to check before banking on loading at your home! I had to load my items on my own trailers and drive to the loading station in Reno. read more

Things went well using U-Pack, I would certainly use them again and would recommend them to anyone planning a move. The cost is reasonable. You just have to plan on the Possibilty of having to wait a few days to get the trailer at the new location. In some cases that's just fine, in others, maybe not so much. Very upset with this company. Our truck was picked up Monday and we were given 2-4 day delivery time frame. I was told by 1 person it should be there by Thursday. My family and I drive up to our new empty home Wednesday night to be here for the truck Thursday. Call Thursday to find out our truck hasn't even left California! So I was told we could possibly have our stuff by Friday. Well here is Friday and I'm now being told they are hoping for Monday this coming week! I'm beyond livid and they could only compensate us a lousy $150 when we paid over $1600 for the truck. My family and I have now had to find a place to stay since we have no furniture or anything and we had to sleep on the floor and spend more money that we cant afford. This is the worst experience I've ever had! I was definitely hoping to have a better experience with u-pack since you see their trucks everywhere. It's a 9 hour drive to our new home from our old home. I understand the truckers can't get here that quickly but a week?? And I was just told it's not a guarantee the truck will be here Monday. So myself and husband and our kids have to suffer for their mess up! I won't ever do business with u-pack again and I will be contacting the BBB. read more

I liked everything about using upack except the price. A huge expense. However it is easy to pack and unload. Use a typical master locks for both doors. The employees are very helpful and nice. I would use them again. We moved from mainland to Hawaii. read more

We got a quick response on short notice. It was slightly cheaper than Pods. Pickup and delivery went as scheduled. Trucking firms and drivers were pretty good and they cooperated with storage firms on both ends of the move. I had to page down quite a bit on Google to find their website. First, they could hire driver's that are vetted for mental issues. Our driver called earlier in the morning of delivery to (gruffly) say that he was going to be a couple of hours late. No problem, as we were not going anywhere. When he arrived, he barked at my neighbor, who was directing the driver to get me. The driver kept repeating he WOULD NOT deliver the cubes to a backyard. My neighbor came and got me as the driver would not leave his truck or call me to inform me he was there. He was more than 3.5 hours late BTW. When I went out to speak with the driver, I asked if he would like a bottle of water. To which he responded, "WE DON'T DELIVER TO BACKYARDS". I tried to explain to him, that our house was not in the backyard. That there are two houses behind the two houses on the street and that there were parking spaces in the back (the driveway to the back is completely flat as is the parking lot). He would have none of it. I asked if he would at least get out of his truck and walk down the driveway to see for himself. Again, he responded with, "I'm not doing that. I have been doing this for 30 YEARS! MY LIFT WON'T FIT!" OK, that is different than "we don't deliver to backyards". He was now looking for any excuse not to deliver the cubes. I said, the driveway is 12' wide, how can your lift not fit? The cubes are 8' wide. What proceeded was a torrent of rage. "Don't question me. I have been doing this for 30 days. I'm leaving. I don't have to deal with this." He proceeded to leave. Done. Bye. Second, get capable, professional office staff. I called the local office. Sarah, the person who picked up the phone was clearly annoyed, at me, as the driver called in as he was driving away. Troy, the dispatcher/manager (I guess) was useless. He proceeded to tell me the driver has been doing this for 30 years. Could we put the cubes on the street? Could I rent a truck, load up my stuff and then unload it into the cubes at the terminal?" Really? Now I have to scramble to find an alternative. POD's couldn't help as they were sold out for a week. They felt so badly that they referred me to their competitor, Pack Rats. I called Pack Rats. Incredibly accommodating. Delivered their pods the next morning, and get this, at less than half the price what U-Pack was going to charge me! Yes, I was going to pay U-Pack ~ $9,000 for 3 cubes to be hauled from the west coast to the east coast. Pack Rats charged me $4,100 plus an additional $50 to guarantee a.m. delivery of the pods. Shame on me for not calling around. Wow. I am boiling again just thinking about this. Thank goodness there are sane people out there like PODs and Pack Rats who care about their customer service. read more

We wanted to actually see the cubes so we could plan better, so we went out to their Reno location where we got a complete walk through. Brief history they delivered two cubes, one malfunctioned and because they showed up two hours early after mechanic came and fixed it, I thought I had at least 3-4 hours more to load they came two hours early picked it up without calling me or knocking on door and I was not able to load Tempurpedic bed, Samsung 55 inch TV new, Dyson vacuum, large cat crate, TV table loss over 1000; cost of the malfunctioning cube! Had to move in two days left behind everything! Thanksgiving week had two days to pack the third they picked it up before the time window THEY gave me. I had to be out of condo so called them after and all they said was I am SORRY. Took no responsibility, EVERYONE was short with me, wanted off the phone like robots! NOW time to deliver second cube to my new home. Talked to the same RUDE woman in Sparks Jamie and Tom they would not even make an effort to drop off cube in the morning and I have given two weeks notice! I have to pay to move in a day early to accommodate these people! All departments act as separate companies no accountability, They broke my laptop table in half and so far fan is ruined turning mechanism broke off. I am waiting to see the the condition of my belongings in second cube before I dispute charges. They have insurance and looking at the price over to the right I was charged 2000 for two small cubes from CA to NV. They are like robots, short with you do not want to engage in helping you solve your problem.. PASS on this one. Customer service does not exist on any level of this company. Our move required us to store all of our household items and personal belongings for two and a half months. The U-Pack option was the best choice for us. The terminal in Sparks NV was very professional and communicated when the trailer would be delivered. The terminal in Sal Lake City UT was very helpful in arranging the deliver of the trailer once our house was ready. The only thing not communicated until the move was the trailer would have to stay on our property for a whole week because the trucking company only comes to our town on specific days. All drivers were helpful, courteous, and pleasant to work with. U-Pack is a great option when a long term move is required. The price was not as high as other quotes we received especially with the storage involved. read more

I've moved from LA to Reno with a different company and it cost me twice as much and ended in litigation over the business practice of the mover...now I moved from Reno to Boston at a fraction of the price for the 500 mile move to Reno!,,oh and the delivery to Boston was 3 days less.
