This place is a cool ass spot, no doubt about it. The setup is awesome, the vibe is laid back, and you can tell this place probably goes crazy when it's packed. I caught it when it wasn't completely full, but even then you could feel the energy. Now the only thing that had me scratching my head... no cash. None. Zero. We came here because we saw it the night before. It really does look like a truck yard, which is totally fine. The set up is a bit different because you see yourself you order yourself and you pay before you get any of your food. This does cause a little issue since they want you to tip but you actually haven't received any food but we tipped of course the service is really good even though you don't see any of the staff unless you were getting your food but when you do the employees, there are extremely friendly and very helpful. They had a band plane at the time which was cool. It was pretty empty because we wanted to eat before it got dark because we walked, but I bet on weekends it gets pretty lively. Accidentally came across Truck Yard and glad I went in! It has a very fun vibe, there is live music and lawn games, and plenty of seats to accommodate those who like the crowd and those who just want to be tucked away in a corner. There are QR codes on the table so you don't need to go up to order anything, if you just want to stay where you are. Got the purple drank, which I highly recommended! Yes!! Such a fun place! We used to live in Dallas and enjoyed the truck yard there so we were excited to see there is one in Houston too. It was a very easy walk from downtown to get there. It's larger than the one in Dallas and even has a Ferris wheel. It was very busy but we never had to wait in line very long for drinks. Service was friendly. It's dog and family friendly too. Had such a great time during Thanksgiving week with my family here! We originally intended to go to 8th Wonder across the street, but were intrigued by the random ferris wheel we saw from our parking spot. After walking in, we were so impressed by the large space with fun activities that could clearly draw large crowds, but was spaced out enough that groups could have their own convos/areas. There was a huge variety of drinks, from beers to unique cocktails to frozen drinks. It was all delicious and we had such a great time playing ping pong (you can borrow all equipment by exchanging your ID) We had such a great time; I'm definitely recommending this EaDo spot to my friends who are visiting Houston! read more

This place is an epic hang out spot! We stumbled upon it and it looked fun so we stopped in! They had the astros game playing on their several TVs. Most customers were watching so it was a super fun vibe! They have drinks and a few food items, but also food trucks so you have choices! This really is one of the more unique and authentic looking Houston places in that it's in the East End and has some character. Whether it actually is or not is beyond me because I never made it to that side of downtown in the old days so far all I know, all this stuff was put together by an interior designer to make it look old and authentic. I was there on a night after the Astros game on a Saturday so the whole area was packed but that area usually is busy on the weekends so parking might be a challenge, but not impossible. The drinks were OK, didn't feel like a lot, and the food truck food we got was mid at best. I don't recall the food truck we ordered from, but we essentially paid $20+ for a basket of chicken tenders + fries and there wasn't really anything special about them. They have about 4 food trucks all serving mainly bbq, Cajun type of food. We got some brisket nachos and for $12 I wasn't very impressed, only came with the nacho cheese and mediocre brisket. The drinks were good though! We tried several fun sweet drinks and really liked them. What you're really coming here is for the ambiance. It's very fun and unique. They play live music, have a Ferris wheel that runs, games and a Photo Booth. We found street parking where we didn't have to pay which was nice. This place is pretty cool! I enjoy the vibe and everything is self serve. This chocolate old fashioned is AMAZING! It comes in a bottle/flask; which you can take home when it's empty. It's really cute and I like the sticker on it. I actually may take it home. I am visiting from DC and these prices are close to Washington DC bar prices. Kind of shocking in the south. But I am just a guest here. This cocktail was $12.99, however worth every penny. This place has food trucks. Live music and lots of outdoor seating. The only food item they serve is a cheese steak. So looking forward to trying that. My past experience is when bars only serve one food item. It's usually perfected. Update. Tried the cheese steak. Not the best I have had. This sub is average at best. But still eating it all. On my 2nd chocolate old fashioned. And may even stay it's one of the best I have ever had! Everything here is self service. The lighting was a vibe and it has a Photo Booth. The service was good. It has two full bars but last night only one was being worked. I've been wanting to come here for years and finally happened to be on the right side of town. I met a group of friends here on a Friday evening. This is mainly and outdoor venue; the weather was fantastic and the place was hopping. One of the larger container areas was booked for a private party. We found a lovely nook in the smaller elevated container. There was live music in the main yard, and music from the next door club was also blasting across, but fortunately for the folks in the yard, the containers formed an acoustic partition so the live music was not affected much by the DJ. The three food trucks whipped up decent offerings; there is also a cheesesteak kitchen. There are two bars, one indoor and one outdoor and the lines moved fast despite the large number of people. There is also the option to order food or drinks using a table QR code. Street parking is free after 6pm (read the signs) but all across the area the streets are lined with smashed glass from car break ins, so be wary of leaving anything in your car. Due to the proximity of Truck Yard to the convention center, it seems this is a popular venue for spillover post-convention parties. Expect to see lots of out-of-towners with pre-conceived notions of what Texans dress like during non-Rodeo months. Oh well, I guess this place is called Truck Yard, after all!!!! Two other people and I ate at the the Philly cheesesteak restaurant in the Truck Yard. We shared two cheesesteaks and the nachos. Televisions on the walls showed some of the current sporting events. It definitely had an atmosphere of where people would come to eat after having hit the bar next door. The nachos were loaded with ribeye and Cheez Whiz.. The cheesesteaks were both on amazing hoagie rolls - I want to know who made these! Both had ribeye for the protein. One had onions and mushrooms with provolone, and the other had peppers, onions, jalapenos, and Cheez Whiz! We were the first (and only) people there for the day, and our order was made quickly! The quality of the food was excellent - no complaints at all! The sandwiches may seem a bit pricey, but I think the price is fair considering the quality of the food and also the current inflated prices of everything these days. I'll definitely come back here to try the other places at Truck Yard - like the bar! - but I'd be glad to eat another one of those cheesesteaks! read more

Went for Trucktoberfest with a group of friends. Loved the layout. Lots of outdoor seating for nice weather, cool inside for when it's too hot to be out. Ate at one of the 3 food trucks. Ordered brisket nachos for $12. Small order and too much fat, but quite tasty. They have food inside, as well, but none of us ate there. There was live music, which was decent. There is only one Karaoke room, which is a very nice space. You have to reserve the room. Seems like they could have another room; maybe one that isn't reserved. We would have sung otherwise. Parking is paid and it was unclear if there was a cutoff time. We arrived at 4pm, the signs didn't state there was a cutoff time, but I could only put 2 hours on the meter. When we asked one of the servers, we were told you don't pay after 6pm. She said they are strict about ticketing, so be warned. It's a bustling area at night. I felt safe leaving at 10PM. There are numerous clubs and restaurants in the area. Part of the October fest was a costume contest. I was the only one who entered, so the canceled it. We all thought they should have given me the prize any way. But I did win the pretzel eating contest against 3 of my friends: 2 minutes to eat as many as you can. I ate 2/3s of one and won.
