From the start to the finish Tru Landscape has exceeded our expectations, handling every aspect of our backyard remodel with professionalism, patience and attention to detail. Tobi and his staff are an incredibly dedicated and personable team. Tobi met us at our home a couple of different times to discuss the possibilities with our remodeling goals, he was open and honest about what to expect and offered awesome remodeling ideas we hadn't even thought of! From the design through construction Tobi kept us informed of their progress (even while we were on vacation in another state by sending us videos!), stayed on schedule and on budget. He was also very responsive to correct a minor issue (at their cost) that we encountered. We have already recommended Tru Landscape to a couple of friends, and will continue to recommend them. We will also be hiring Tru Landscape for any future remodel work we need done. We cannot emphasize enough the importance of trusting and enjoying working with your contractor. Tobi really ironed out many details which we would not have thought about, like adding curbing around our air conditioning unit and sprinkler system to keep the grass away. They are UNTRUE landscape. DO NOT waste your time. They did no show then late then he pretend he was doing something/measuring???, but not, he only spent 5 min. And took off. He never even asked what customer needed with regards to landscape. I could tell that he definitely did not want to do his work. I did not even understand why he even bother to show up late (tried to make up from first appointment? ?). As he was flying out to door, he said he will provide a bid. YEAH RIGHT, Keep in mind that companies like this will never ever provide you anything unless if they "think" they can bill you something really HIGH. Basically, never heard back ever since. Undependable and dishonest. Seems like this guy is only interested working for something HUGE profitable $ such as 2 acre property or larger $ companies. If you are a smart shopper, shop else where. Not only poor, but NO quality and NO service. read more

Toby, Zach, and crew did a great job on my backyard. Everything came out looking sharp. They were VERY flexible with my crazy schedule. As well as with unexpected changes to the original contract. The plan was to remove and replace a block wall. While demo-ing the original wall it was discovered that, years ago when the wall was built, the neighbors sprinkler line was laid in the concrete footer. The crew replaced the lines and put in new sprinklers on the neighbors side of the wall. read more

Despite the couple of troubling Yelp! reviews for TRU Landscape, I found several other reviews online that were favorable, so I decided to include TRU Landscape in the bidding process. If you don't want to be bothered with the details, here is the takeaway: I had a great experience with Tobi and TRU Landscape! The Job: The job involved some hardscaping and landscaping. For the landscape, I wanted my lawn removed and replaced with drought-tolerant plants. For the hardscape, I wanted my boring concrete walkway and steps replaced by pavers. The Cost: I requested bids of 4 landscapers. 3 came back with bids, the 4th never delivered a bid even after I followed up with him (sadly, not uncommon when dealing with contractors). Of the 3 bids, TRU Landscape was the lowest. I felt pretty good about another contractor whose bid was competitive, but Tobi beat his bid by $1K. The Experience: TRU Landscape was able to start the job almost immediately, demoing my walkway and removing the lawn. Since they started so quickly, I did not have a chance to get approval of our renovation from our HOA. I told Tobi that I wanted to stop all work until I got approval. This meant that he had to take his crew off the job and juggle his schedule and resources. All contractors like to start the job uninterrupted until completion, so I knew I was creating an inconvenience for him. However, Tobi did not even blink when I told him I want him to stop the work--he said he'd just have his crew move onto their next job and asked me to just let him know when I was ready to continue. Just a few days later I got the HOA approval, and TRU Landscape was back to work on the project almost immediately. Once the job was started, we had 2-3 people working on our yard every day, starting from the early morning through about 5pm. Tobi would come onsite almost every day to provide guidance, make sure the job was getting done correctly, and also to check in with us (my wife and I) to get our feedback. Tobi listened well and had no issues with implementing our ideas--whether it was plant selection or design elements we wanted to see in our yard. If you ask for advice, he will give it. If he thinks your idea has flaws or may cause problems, he will let you know and steer you towards other options / solutions. I would recommend getting a pretty good idea of what you want done, and then you can work with Tobi to fine tune the idea as needed. On the other hand, if you are looking to make the cover of Home and Garden magazine and want someone to sit down with you and spend a lot of time hand-holding and working up inspirational landscaping ideas and sketches for your review--go find a specialist. We are just finishing up our backyard redo with Tru-Landscape and it turned out better than we could ever imagine! We love the new pavers, firepit, artificial turf, covered redwood patio with heaters and the bbq island. The attention to detail is spectacular. I hired Tobi and his guys to redo our backyard about 5 years ago in Huntington Beach. They re-graded the yard (which was sloping towards the house and causing flooding), installed drains to the street, put in a concrete patio, grass, and sprinklers. 5 years later- the drains still work great, and the patio has not cracked or settled. The sprinklers do have some normal wear and tear, but Tobi was real helpful a couple weeks ago when I called him to ask about how to fix/replace one of the main sprinkler valves. I had a good experience with Tobi 5 years ago, I liked that fact that he was willing to give me some good advice over the phone 5 years later, and I would hire them again. read more

Tobi (Tru Landscape) redid my backyard including new grass, plants and a beautiful wooden patio cover. He and his crew paid exacting attention to every detail and did everything I wanted plus more. They were clean, fast and courteous. Their job is gorgeous and all the grass and plants are taking beautifully. Our original paved walkway was never done right and was looking pretty bad after time. We wanted something new that would get attention. Found Tru Landscaping and talked to Tobi about our options. Tobi explained the advantages and disadvantages of each. We were partial to flagstone so we picked a type we liked and got the process going. Job included demo of the original paving, pouring a concrete foundation and then cutting and laying the flagstone. The crew did an awesome job of all of that, particularly laying out a nice "random" pattern. All in all, the crew did a good job and in a short time we got compliments from neighbors, friends, and even the mail man. read more

I started my conversation and "wish list" with Tobi and LeeAnna over a year ago. We refined and revised our original quote to accommodate our tastes and budget. Tobi and LeeAnna were supportive and communicative through the entire process. We had Tobi and team overhaul our side yard in the back and entire front yard. We purchased a spa and had the dilemma of what to do about the landscaping because of gophers from our canyon. They poured concrete, installed drip lines and added lighting and planted over 50 plants! Tobi's crew was professional, clean and capable of handling the task of "add-ons" without hesitation. We are beyond pleased with the final results and I would highly recommend TRU Landscape for any landscape project on your list. I want so bad to not write this based on all the wonderful reviews. Sadly, I cannot review their quality AS THEY HAVE NEVER COME TO DO WORK. I received a quote 4 months ago. I was told then they were almost 2 months out. Everyone was extremely friendly. No problem. That put us at the middle or end of July. I kept in touch calling them to make sure we were on track so I could work around their schedule for any trips or time we might be gone based on their delayed schedule. I have never once been called for updates or ideas of when we would be starting. All me. Any time I have called with questions I have been promised a return phone call. NEVER have I received a call from them. When I did call, I was told they were a little behind and it would now be more like the middle of August. Ok- a little bummed but I understand. I finally called again at the middle of August as I had heard NOTHING and Leanne promised to call me with SOMETHING of a time frame the next day. Crickets. Nothing. No call and it is now the end of August. There is no way I would trust them at this point if this how they handle their potential clients. To be fair, very friendly folks. But clearly uninterested in my business. Very disappointed. read more
