Cowboy Burger
Raven L.

Stayed in the hotel next door & decided to walk over for a late lunch. (The silver diner exterior was too intriguing to not check out.) I loved the vintage vibes & decor inside. The place was poppin' but were seated & served quickly! The cowboy burger was delicious- bbq sauce, bacon, onion ring. I also enjoyed a delicious slice of homemade chocolate pie- I loved the graham cracker crust, reminded me a lot of s'mores.

Little Cuz

The Food: I ordered the Razzle Dazzle - sirloin tips, three eggs (scrambled), hash browns, and an English muffin. The portion size was very generous, especially for breakfast. The flavor? The steak tips were tender, and the eggs were fluffy - more folded and firm, like on a flattop, than scrambled. The hash browns were delicious - the tops were crispy, but the bottom side was on the soggy side. My lovely wife ordered the Little Cuz, which is biscuits and gravy, one egg, one strip of bacon, and one sausage patty (links available). The bacon or sausage wasn't anything standout, but it was nice and crispy. The biscuit seemed sort of dry, but the gravy saved the dish. It was a nice combination of buttery and sweet but still peppery. We recommend utilizing the sausage patty to beef up the sausage gravy, as it was a bit weak on the sausage. The Service: We arrived around 8:30 on a Monday morning. It wasn't crowded, and we were seated instantly. The staff were friendly and attentive. We ordered soon after being seated and received our food before 9 a.m. Despite being quick, it felt relaxed - nice for a Monday morning! Ambiance: Retro booths, neon signs, Elvis and Marilyn Monroe-covered walls - it definitely feels like stepping back in time. Clearly, a place where locals would stand by loyally, but where tourists should make a definite point to visit as well. Location: Right off 105 near App State campus. Convenient location, but 105 isn't the easiest road to turn onto, so keep that in mind. Parking is easy; it's not difficult to find either.

Had a great breakfast! Just a really cute quaint spot to stop when you're in Boone. I love the diner vibe & the servers were really great.

Interesting restaurant in an old school setting. We ordered the meat and veggies plate and thinking back should have gotten a burger. Service was fast and our waitress helpful. Prices are below average for restaurants in the area. We would definitely go back.

The atmosphere and cleanliness were amazing! Service and food were outstanding! Would definitely recommend ! 5 out of 5 stars!

Pretty good old fashion style diner. The prices are very reasonable and the food hits the spot. Skip Denny's and hit up Troy's.

Why doesn't the phone line ever work? Is there a new phone number? I've tried to call this place literally for years, all different hours of the day & days of the week, to place pick-up orders, and no answer. Just curious! Thanks

But I wiggled my vehicle into a tight spot and went in for a burger and a beer. I believe there were about 10 to 12 options available on tap, and I went with what was listed as an Irish stout from somewhere in the Northeast. It wasn't bad, though it seemed more like an imperial stout. My sandwich choice was the Cowboy, with ground elk at its core. It was a good choice too, and the accompanying fried onions and melted cheese complemented the meat well. I ordered the burger medium, but I think I'd go for medium rare if I could go back in time. The medium option wasn't bad, but I think a little less heat and a little more moisture would only make things better. I kept things simple with the side item, going for the fries which were of the thinly sliced McDonald's variety, not bad but nothing remarkable. The server covering my table was pleasant and prompt, though soft spoken so I occasionally had to ask her to repeat herself amidst the music and noise. I wouldn't call any of these selections a bargain, but the prices didn't veer too far from what you'll find in many burger joints. All in all, not an earthshaking experience, but a place I'd be willing to go back to. 3.5 stars.

We started with the pickled board, and it was just fun. A little bit of everything: pickled veggies, cucumbers with those pretty curls of onion, pimento cheese, bread, pork rinds, a little tomato jam. It felt like a Southern snack platter put together by someone who actually cares about balance and flavor. I ordered the pickled salad with chicken, and it was right up my alley. Fresh greens, great textures, pops of color, and the chicken was nicely seasoned and grilled. The dressing had that bright, tart thing going on that makes you want more of it. I would absolutely get this again. My husband got the Cassie salad, and while he said it was "fine," even he admitted everything was fresh and well done. The vibe here is relaxed, cozy, a little rustic, the kind of place that feels local in the best way. For a casual lunch in Boone, it hits the spot. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

It might have just been the holiday rush, but I always figure "busy means good," so my expectations were high--and The Local didn't disappoint. We also ordered the Brazilian steak, which was cooked perfectly and came with great plantains. The quinoa with tofu was good, too, though it was a little dry and would have been perfect with a sauce. The service really stood out. Our waitress was incredibly attentive and refilled my water at least four times without me asking. Great ambiance and an all-around good experience. Definitely worth the wait!

I am beyond disappointed with this place. My boyfriend was at Elevation 3333 tonight, and what he…read moresaw was seriously disturbing. Like, actual disgusting racism happening right in front of everyone, and the staff couldn't care less. He saw this Latino guy just trying to grab a drink at the bar, and this group of white women just absolutely went off on him. They were screaming slurs and calling him the most terrible names. It wasn't a joke or a misunderstanding; it was blatant, sickening, targeted hate speech. This is Boone, right? It's supposed to be chill, but apparently, not at this place. My boyfriend immediately went to the bouncer--the guy who's supposed to keep things safe--and told him exactly what was happening. And the bouncer's official response? He said he couldn't do anything. Seriously?! A grown man is being harassed with racial slurs, and your security just shrugs and walks away? That's not just unprofessional; that's actively letting racism happen on your property. It's like they're totally cool with it. I am livid. My friends and I are DONE with Elevation 3333. No way are we giving business to a place that allows blatant disrespect and racism to run wild and then won't lift a finger to stop it. This is beyond gross. Spread the word--if they let this kind of stuff happen, they don't deserve our money.

I was surprised to see such a large crowd dining that time of day (2:30). But despite the busy flow of customers, service was wonderful, eager to answer questions, and very attentive. We started with the yuca fries. The absolute BEST I have ever had! Fresh, warm, well seasoned, and large portion. Our family of 5 ordered the Sedona bowl, Black & Blue burger, burrito, one of the boats, and the quesadilla, plus sweet fries and regular fries. We all thoroughly enjoyed our entrees! And loved all the fresh salsa options! Prices were also very reasonable! When we are in the area again, we will definitely return to Coyote Kitchen!

Our waitress was nice and friendly but definitely struggling and the food itself was very mediocre. We arrived around 5pm on a Saturday and sat outside as a group of 7. We started with waters and then a couple trays of chips and salsa. We opted for the house fire roasted and pico options. The chips were a good portion but each one came with maybe one ounce of each sauce...for the 7 of us. We asked for extras and so she brought out one of each... I ordered a chicken vegetable soup which the menu stated was served with a cornbread muffin. When the soup came there was no cornbread so I asked for that and upon her return she said it would be an extra $2.50 even though I literally pointed to the menu to show her that was not written anywhere lol The soup was okay, probably Would've been better with the muffin but I wasn't going to argue over it anymore. For my entree I got two southwest chicken tacos. And those were disappointing as well. Packed with a lot but just did not deliver on flavor, and the poblano cremosa salsa I got was pretty bland too. Overall sentiment from other friends was similar- they ordered bowls, burritos etc but found a lot was left to be desired with their dishes. Come payment time, I opted to use cash since the menu stated 3% surcharge for credit. When I gave her a $20, she returned my tab (after processing the others who put a card in) and I explained I had left cash, to which she asked "oh do you want me to give you a 10 and two 5s?" And I explained, No I just want to pay with cash, I only need the change. And then she gave me the wrong amount of change. So all around this spot was definitely a let down. @azfitfoodfun

The service was nice and attentive. It definitely is a smaller mom and pop type of restaurant but very fun! The TVs had good variety of Olympics and College basketball playing on them so you can catch whatever game or event you want to watch. Now on to the food! To start we got the onion rings. They were cooked very well and I liked the breading of them. I do wish they came with some house dipping sauce or maybe a spicy ranch just to dip them in. They do have ketchup to use but I just feel with onion rings you need some type of spicy ranch or aioli dip with them. Now onto the Fries! I love me some crinkle cut fries and once I saw they had them I needed to get them! They are pillowy with a slight crunch on the outside. They have salt and pepper at the tables to use I do like a bit of old bay or something of that nature on crinkle cut fries that would be my only critique. Now Burger time! I got a patty melt which had onions, cheese burger patty and I put mayo on it. I enjoyed it a lot I do wish the onions weren't red onions and that they would've been caramelized. But the burger itself was seasoned and cooked to perfection! The bread it was on as well was a good rye bread and blended well with everything. The hamburger with jalapeños was good as-well the only critique on that would be the bun. If it had a different bun it would take it to the next level I think. For playing Pool they charge by the hour I believe and the prices were very good! Overall a great little spot to go chill and eat while watching or playing pool and not having to burn a hole in your wallet! I would definitely recommend!
