a palm tree in front of a brick wall

We walked up for a seat after having so much trouble getting a reservation ( good luck with that ) This place has all of the Miami nights feels . Latin music , palm trees , a guy on a grill , even sand . We all got drinks . Some come in a coconut or a mini watermelon . Very IG worthy I got the watermelon margarita. It was surprisingly strong but lacked watermelon flavor . I dint get the complaints about the phone ordering . It's pretty simple and I actually like being able to i order and pay plus tip all in one easy step . Things they should work on Since it's pretty much no contact , they need to figure out a way to get service after your order arrives . We did not have a single napkin and my friend had street corn . Depending on the drink you get it comes from a different area so out drinks came out a different times . That left one of us sitting there another 10 min sans a cocktail . Make reservation process easier . We wanted to go for dinner but because you literally have to DM them and wait , we decided to eat someplace else and just come for drinks I thought the staff was rushed but not rude like other comments say . The owner was actually very kind and welcoming towards us

Really cute restaurant and very unique. It is outdoors and makes you feel like you are on an island or somewhere tropical. I am giving three stars given the service here isn't that great. I came with a group of friends on a Saturday night, we had reservations and waited a long time for drinks and food. The restaurant had only 2-3 servers for the entire restaurant. As far as the food, it was pretty good! I had the grilled shrimp skewers as an entree, shared the king crab for an appetizer along with the lobster ceviche. I wanted to order the watermelon margarita but they were out of watermelons and ingredients used in the drink. Overall, it wasn't a. bad experience but also wasn't great either. Food was pretty good, service wasn't good and valet was pricey ($20).

Tropicale has a nice vibe and it's pretty. Tropicale is what once used to be Bar Almafi and the gelato shop; they've Done a nice job converting the place. The service was good. They get two stars. Establishment: Outside is gorgeous. Nice vibes. Good summer time spot I can definitely see me hanging out here for sure Inside-inside is cute as well. It's intimate and it has a nice date night vibe. We were unable to sit outside because of the rain. The bathroom really does not have ventilation a pet peeve of mine is not placing toilet paper on a toilet paper holder I just think that that's disgusting. I can tell that they try to be eco-friendly so that was nice as well Drinks: Tropicale- refreshing but couldn't taste the liquor Watermelon margarita- Served in a small watermelon. Had a weird taste and I wasn't quite sure what so I let my friend taste and immediately she said yuck that taste rotten. I've never tasted rotten fruit so there's that. Pina Colada- Served in a coconut. Great flavor, creamy, and tasty. After the watermelon drink. I started to wonder how the fruit shells are stored. Can't blame me. My drink was spoiled. Food: We received complimentary plantain chips with mango salsa. It was ok and a nice and welcoming gesture. Lobster- Salty. No flavor just salt. The lobster wasn't over cooked though. I think it may have been brined too long Shrimp- Salty. No flavor just salt. Coconut rice. I liked it. My friend did not. Roasted peppers- meh. Adds nothing to the dish. Seems like a filler Corn- The cheese and cream on the corn were good. The best dish of the night. Presentation- rice covered the plate- peppers slapped on top lobsters stacked. Lobster presentation was fine but not the rice and peppers. The food here is just plain lazy. No other way for me to say it. No seasoning. Most of the entrees come with rice and peppers. I know you want to keep cost low but when you are charging $20 to valet $16 for drinks you should put more effort into the dinning experience outside of just ambiance. This place has potential and will get business because it's cute. Great photo spot. Would I go back? Yes. They have a full bar and nice ambiance. I probably won't order special drinks just my usual and no food for me. This is my review.

Tropicale couldve easily gotten a 5 star review but after the waitstaff tell you to order via the apps.... you wait over an hour for the food to be brought out to you and then you have to keep repeadtly asking over and over and over again.... Parking: $10 Valet only OR Self park for free on the surrounding streets. Valet was simpler and you can keep an eye in your vehicle bc the area seems a little shady Hostess stand.... they seemed lost, I dont know maybe they were short staff. Food: I ordered the King Crab Dip. Now I know being from Baltimore I have high standards for ceab dishes, but this was the worst I've ever had. There was no flavor, it was a watery soupy texture, I didn't eat it... i left it for the flies that constantly attacked us as we tried to eat. Mango Salsa they serve is bomb AF Drinks We had the Flamingo and Pina Colada.... Omggggggggg, these were soooo freaking good. Every single time never failed. Management: The big guy acted as if he wasn't the manger, but he came around after one of the ladies in our party was upset for waiting over an hour for our food, he offered us some sangrias.... just say I know why they were given to us for free COVID-19 precautions.... Everyone wore face masks, didn't see any heavy sanitizing when cleaning tables but all in all they try and space you out as much as possible. I would go back ONLY for the drinks.

Great summer-time atmosphere. It feels like you're emersed in a Caribbean island, but in reality you're in the middle of the city. The owner was very accommodating; when we arrived we had no table reservation, but the owner was kind enough to give us a table anyway. Service was quick and great. Overall, this place was a joyful escape from reality.

Loved this place! Vibes were on point, food was absolutely delicious and the drinks were fun! I've already come here a couple times and enjoyed it each time. I've had the street corn which was so yummy! The Pallomillo is also delicious! I've tried both the pineapple and watermelon drinks. Not gonna lie, the drinks are fun but not strong at all. My boyfriend had the jerk chicken which he said he liked too but I liked mine better.

Cabana eating area

This is a nice restaurant and extremely instagramable. Since we're in the middle of a pandemic the indoor eating area is closed and it's only outdoor sitting which I appreciate. The staff all wore masks and were extremely attentive. At the moment there is no physical menu and the food items were recited to us verbally. We got to sit in the cabana area which was a more intimate and secluded area from the other eating areas. The food was amazing! I was scared I wouldn't get full before my food arrived but I was wrong. The portions of our dishes were extremely fulfilling. The mango sauce on the side of the shrimp skewers and the jerk chicken my partner got tied the dish together. We drank coconut water that was nicely presented inside a coconut. I definitely recommend coming to on a nice date to enjoy yourself. The cabana area is best if you're trying to stay away from a larger crowd while still enjoying the environment of outdoor dinning.

Poor business response
Glam ..

This business is aesthetically pleasing for photos but the business practices makes this one a no thank you. They run their business through Instagram reservations?!?! which is beyond ridiculous. You send messages after messages only to get no reply. They have time to post stories of all the customers and celebs but not respond to potential customers. Also if you express how they can better their practices they block you. Their Instagram Tropicale_Atl is full of potential patrons who are frustrated. You have beg to even get a response sadly. My advice....spend your money where it is welcomed and appreciated.

Welcome plate-mango salsa. Very good.

The food and drinks were good. The vibe even better. Very COVID friendly regarding contact with servers. You order everything onions and it is delivered to your table.

What a cool place. Discovered it incidentally while in downtown Atlanta. Upscale with a dress code…read morethankfully. The entrance code can be obtained from their website or local hotel concierges. Dial the number on the antique phone and the door magically opens. The staff super friendly and helpful. The bartenders are the best, clearly passionate about their work. I highly encourage you to try one or several of their signature cocktails. I sampled the Left Bank Martini and Vesper. As expected they are fully stocked with Pappy Bourbon, hard to find Amaro Noni. Ask a bartender about the ice block. The place is spacious unlike other speakeasys I've been to. Lots of niche areas with couch reservations, pool table available. No time for a cigar but that is on my list when I return. Food available from their upstairs sister restaurant.

I sat at the bar and had a little light banter with the bartender who is a brother looking to be in his late 30's-early 40's. When I asked about two fruity cocktails from the menu, he flat-out said he wasn't going to make them. That alone was off-putting. Trying to move forward, I asked what he specialized in, and he said he'd "come up with something." I agreed--but very clearly stated: no rum, because my body does not react well to it. After watching him make drinks for people who ordered after me, he eventually handed me a cocktail I never even saw him prepare. That already raised a flag. I took a few sips, and sure enough--my stomach immediately started reacting the exact way it does when I've had rum. When I asked what alcohol he used, he said, "I don't even know." That response alone tells you everything you need to know. At that point, I reminded him I specifically said no rum. Instead of taking accountability, he tried to argue and backtrack. Let me be clear--when a customer tells you not to use a specific liquor, you don't ignore it, guess, or "forget." That's basic service and basic respect. This situation completely threw off my evening, as I had plans afterward and ended up feeling sick. To make matters worse, I reached out to management and received no response. That lack of accountability speaks volumes. At the end of the day, this wasn't just a bad drink--it was careless service. This staff does not prioritize customer care, and that's a problem. If you choose to visit, be very direct, pay close attention, and don't assume your requests will be respected.

We found a nice table and ordered a glass of wine. We had every intent of staying and eating, but this atmosphere is not what we had in mind. I felt bad for the musician because nobody was paying attention. Our server disappeared so even if we wanted to stay for more drinks it was a hassle. Rather than just finding out, he went ahead and made it and brought it out with the group's drinks. When I saw how good it looked, I decided to order one too. The presentation of the drink was very nice and it had a good creamy flavor to it. This drink was a nice way to wind down the evening. As someone from TX, I did think the drinks were a bit on the pricey side but it's not surprising with it being the ritz. I liked that the bar had a fun yet casual ambiance and there were plenty of people around. We did ask what time last call was and were told midnight so we didn't hurry to order a second drink. Unfortunately, when we ordered another at 10:40... we were told they had closed which was frustrating.

Just a warning, the space inside is pretty small--typically there's optional seating outside, but it's really chilly at the moment (although they have heaters)--but there's more seating downstairs in The Victorian Atlanta plant shop. I didn't realize that the two were connected! FYI, if you sit downstairs, you'll be seated next to where the live music performers will be playing, so it will be louder there. As for the drinks, I tried the Zombie. I loved it so much, I ordered a second one instead of trying a different one! It tasted sweet and slightly tropical with the rum and spiced liqueur. It also had some absinthe, which I was worried about when I first ordered it since I hate the taste of it (not a big fan of black licorice flavors), but I didn't taste it at all! Overall, this place had such a great vibe to it!
