The food is awful and the appearance of it is just as disgusting. I'm so tired of this location and I wish they close it, and this will be my last time visiting this location. The food looks so disgusting and is NOT in any way esthetically pleasing. I usually ask for them to substitute the bananas for blueberries and it seems like they just hold the bananas and cheat me put of the blueberries as a substitute. Also, look at the strawberries! They're nearly nonexistent. I'm not sure what the problem is with this location. The willingness of the staff to deliver excellence is nonexistent! Look at the picture of my Acai bowl. First of all the bowl was so sticky with Acai base that I had to rinse the bowl off before eating it. Secondly, the bowl was so skimpy that if it looked like someone had already starting eating out if it. This location is an Embarrassment to the brand and I wish they close this location. Out of all the locations I have been to throughout the DMV this, honestly, is the worst and I hate come to this location. My advice is for the owner of this location to send secret shoppers in to rate their experience. I will bet anything that you won't like what they report to you. Lastly, this location smells like a sour mop EVERYTIME I come here. After today, I will never step foot in this location again and I'm going to instruct EVERYONE in my office to avoid this location like the plague. No more catering or anything from this location, I'm done. Actually, I might check into Smoothie King. One of my employees suggested Smoothie King for the next office party. read more

This location just opened up almost 2 months ago and let me say that they have been ON IT since day 1 !! No kinks to work out whatsoever! Everyone is very friendly, professional, and quick! Great quick stop for a healthy snack or meal replacement. It's close to Costco and a lot of other shopping spots. If you're running errands and want something by healthy, I would stop here. They have wraps, salads and sandwiches along with the smoothies Peanut Paradise - 5/5. It's really good! Love the peanut butter flavor that comes through with this smoothie. Nice and filling as well. Triple berry oat - 4/5. I got the pea protein instead of the whey and you can definitely taste it! A little gritty and not the best flavor, but I'm avoiding an upset stomach so I'm ok with it. I was excited to find Tropical Smoothing near my regular Costco. What a great post shopping treat! We came during a weekday lunch, and we ordered the chicken bacon ranch sandwich, avocado grilled cheese, and a strawberry banana smoothie. Pros - The food was ready in a reasonable amount of time considering the lunch rush, and the location looked clean. Sadly, that's the best that I can say. :( Cons - The staff was rather unwelcoming and skipped all the normal niceties. The music was REALLY loud, and it was hard to hear over the music, the plexiglass divider, and masks. Literally I was guessing at what was said most of the time. We ordered our food to the first surly employee, and then moved over to the cash register where we found out that we had to repeat our order, not because she asked us to repeat, but because we got more blank stares. We got our food to go which came in timely manner, but I was just happy to get out of there. I would definitely never eat in. Once we got home, we were disappointed to find out that my husband's sandwich, which he ordered without ranch or tomato had both. He couldn't eat it. You can't just get rid of ranch dressing. My avocado grilled cheese was made with the heel of the bread which made it rather dry. It was a super disappointing first experience, and I doubt if we will come back. read more

This place is the worst of all the locations I've been to. One week the oven isn't working, the next they don't have the ingredients for some of the food items. I always try to support local business but this location makes it extremely hard to patronize. It's sad because the store is placed in highly saturated area. I had given up on Tropical Smoothie Cafe. The one in Capital Plaza is consistently disappointing. Then I was in NE on Market Street. Decided to give them a try. I actually had it delivered. I'm still a little nervous about going into small spaces. My chipotle chicken flatbread was amazing. I paid for extra chicken and actually got what I paid for. The Capital Plaza store would NEVER give me extra chicken. There would be 3-4 pieces of chicken and they'd claim that was extra chicken. So here we are, 10 mths later and I'm giving TSC another try. First visit in February of 2021 was great. Staff was polite, respectful, attentive, and made sure everything was perfect. At this time the food was fantastic and so was the smoothie. So good in fact, I returned within 10 minutes to give them a $20 dollar tip and place another order. Now, I returned today... Food was awful, the chicken had a strange flavor. And the smoothie.... smh. I took ONE sip and it is still sitting in my car. The staff waited to finish their conversation among one another before greeting me. Their conversation was playful, not professional, and automatically did not make me feel comfortable. Once they had gotten all of their giggles out, they decided to take my order. I politely placed my order and watched my food and smoothies be made. smoothie have 20% fruit and 80% ice.. although this was concerning at the time I decided to give them the benefit of doubt because I don't work at TSC! Im no professional smoothie maker! BUT maybe I am because once I got to my car it tasted of flavored ice water (and not the good kind). All in all, it seems like the managers/owners are being extremely cheap when it comes to its food practices. Im very disappointed and expected better from this location. I will not be returning and suggest anyone reading this to treat your bodies with better food because this place just doesn't care about how they store, cook or prepare their food and drinks. This place deserves 5 stars just for the staff alone. Look, the folks working here are for the most part, young girls. They have to listen to terrible country music, with poor internet connectively this plaza is known for - they should receive hazard pay for this alone. On top of that, they have to work in a tight space, with only 6 blenders and a small grill while a bunch people stare at them. I appreciate y'all! They have always been courteous to me and from what I've seen, to other customers. The service isn't going to be Jimmy John fast - but making smoothies never is! The wraps I get are always good. Sure, sometimes they like to have fun with each other - but honestly, I hope they do! I have placed online orders from this restaurant more than I would like to admit, without incident. 5 stars. But today... I walked in to order, told the cashier my order. Something tells me to check my food because she seemed confused. Get to my car with my food and smoothie order, food order wrong. I check my receipt and the cashier literally put the opposite of what I asked for. Go back into the store and none of the young adults can understand what I am requesting( same exact order I get online and have no issues) Ok! I ask for a refund of my food and I will keep the smoothies. Get home, and my smoothie tastes like the detox version of the Island Green. (Again, I order here alot) But I ordered the regular Island Green Smoothie. They are just giving customers whatever they feel like giving them. Now I'm annoyed.... LOVE this place! The pulled bbq quesadilla is delicious! Service is great, BUT...please make sure your staff covers their entire face when customers are in store. I went today and 3 (cashier, girl that was making smoothies and a girl in the back) of the staff members had their masks under their nose. As customers we are required to wear our masks, and expect for the staff to wear theirs properly too. Other than that..great addition to the strip! read more
