The bulk of their biz is meal prep and nutrition planning - and they seem to have a strong clientele of Rochesterians. They are conveniently located in the Lac De Ville plaza and I was in and out within five minutes. Everyone was SO kind and helpful, and my shake was really delicious. I am a protein powder SKEPTIC. I think it makes everything taste like diet chalk. I am pleased to report my banana shake did NOT taste like chalk, and I downed the whole thing throughout the course of an afternoon. I am grateful for anything that includes calorie counts these days. As I am aiming to be a bit more mindful about how much I am consuming in a given day (and of what!) this is really helpful. Given that we're home so much, I haven't had an issue making time for meal planning and grocery shopping. When we get back to "normal" and time is taken up by events and other happenings, I would ABSOLUTELY consider doing a meal program through PLN. As a former employee of DiBella's Italian Market, I've decided to share my experience after being…read moregone for several years. I worked there for over three years, and I can confidently say it was the worst place I have ever worked. This was my first job, and I was young when I started, so I didn't fully understand how unprofessional and toxic a workplace could be. After working other jobs, I can't believe some of the things I witnessed and dealt with there. Management was easily the biggest issue. The favoritism was ridiculous. Certain employees could get away with anything, while others were criticized over the smallest things. It felt like your treatment depended on whether management personally liked you. The rules were never consistent. The GM at the time, Kellie, was one of the biggest reasons I hated working there. In my experience, she allowed her personal feelings to affect how she managed employees. If she was in a bad mood, everyone felt it, and the entire atmosphere could change. I will never forget overhearing management refer to regular employees as "gray shirts" and say they couldn't be trusted. I rarely called off, showed up for my shifts, worked wherever I was needed, and dealt with the overwhelming workload, so hearing management speak about employees that way was insulting. The gossip was constant. Management would complain about employees behind their backs, then smile in their faces as if nothing happened. Some of the same employees they criticized also received special treatment. It felt immature and unprofessional, more like high school than a workplace. Employee turnover was also ridiculous. People were constantly leaving and being replaced, which only made the workload harder for those who stayed. Another major issue was the inconsistent handling of smoking and vaping. Some employees faced serious consequences over allegations of smoking marijuana at work, while similar behavior seemed to be overlooked in other cases. Managers would vape in the back, yet regular employees could be threatened with write-ups for doing the same. I also remember managers smoking marijuana outside in the back. My issue wasn't that there were rules; it was that they didn't seem to apply equally. I also felt unsupported when it came to inappropriate comments and unwanted advances from coworkers. I remember bringing concerns about sexually inappropriate behavior to management and feeling dismissed. Employees deserve to have concerns taken seriously and handled professionally. The workplace was frequently understaffed. I remember being responsible for multiple stations at once, including food preparation, bread, dishes, and the grill. I understand that food service is fast-paced, but there's a difference between helping out and covering several positions because there aren't enough people scheduled. Scheduling was another issue. Employees provided availability, but those restrictions weren't always respected. People could be scheduled when unavailable or given a hard time for not picking up extra shifts. It often felt like employees were expected to prioritize the job over everything else. I also remember concerns about younger employees' recorded hours and paychecks, as well as complaints involving physical aggression toward younger employees. From my perspective, these concerns were not always handled with the urgency they deserved, while other employees faced immediate consequences for different situations. As for the food, it tasted good, although I thought the prices were high, especially for larger subs. However, I remember food-handling practices that concerned me. There were instances where spoiled portions of lettuce were removed while the rest was still used. I also remember subs that had fallen on the floor still being expected to be served. These are memories from several years ago, and I cannot speak to current practices. What bothered me most was how little I felt management cared about employees. I was young, working my first job, and trying to be dependable. Instead, I spent years in an environment I found stressful, unprofessional, and emotionally exhausting. I worked with some genuinely good people, and my biggest issues were with management, favoritism, workplace culture, and how concerns were handled. It has been several years since I left, so I can't speak to the current staff or operations. Maybe things have improved, and I hope they have. However, based on my experience, I would never return or recommend this workplace, especially to someone looking for their first job. The food may taste good, but that doesn't erase how employees were treated or what I witnessed behind the counter. Three years was more than enough, and leaving was one of the best decisions I made.
