Wow! an authentic Jamaican restaurant in Nassau county. What a catch! Usually I have to go all the way to Queens or the Bronx.
This place lives up to every bit of hype. From the moment I walked in, the aroma of smoky jerk seasoning hit me like a Caribbean breeze. Authentic Jamaican flavors done right.
I went with the jerk chicken and it was perfect: crispy skin on the outside, incredibly juicy and tender inside, with that perfect balance of spicy heat, tangy allspice, and subtle sweetness from their homemade marinade. No skimping on seasoning here - every bite was packed with flavor.
I also ordered the jerk pork. These were all the single portions btw so not too big.Tender, flavorful chunks with crispy bits from the grill, loaded with that classic allspice, scotch bonnet heat, and deep smoky marinade. As good as the chicken but provides a different taste as well.
Then there's the curry goat--oh man, this is a must-order. The goat is slow-cooked until it's fall-apart tender, swimming in a rich, aromatic curry sauce that's bold with spices but not overwhelming. It's got that deep, savory depth with just the right kick. I always get it with rice and peas as the base--the combo soaks up the gravy beautifully, and the portions are huge for the price. I might skip the cabbage next time though since i'm not a huge veggie girl.
Ask for extra sauce on the side. the spicy and sweet kind. Trust me, you'll thank me.
Great restaurant! I will be coming here often. read more
