It came out juicy, tender and flavorful, even more so when I added the extra jerk sauce that came on the side. Chef Cani told me that he used the back leg of the pork. Too bad Jerk On The Water does not sell any alcohol. I would have paired the pork with an ice cold bottle of Red Stripe Beer. This is a take out place with some outdoor seating overlooking the water. There are four tables outside, each of which has three chairs. CAVEAT EMPTOR: CASH ONLY AT THE WINDOW OR PAY BY CARD AT THE KIOSK!!! Jerk on the water is a nice edition to the Nautical Mile scene in Freeport & is open year round to satisfy your Caribbean fix. My mom and dad raved about their shrimp rasta pasta & jerk wings, so I had to give it a try. Though the food wasn't bad with a tasty pasta & wings, the wait time was too long for me...I called ahead of time and still had to wait 30 minutes or so to get my food. I felt like I was in a restaurant with the time it took . Still despite that issue, I enjoyed my pasta. It's been a minute since I've ordered from Tropical Jerk but yesterday I was starvin' marvin and felt too lazy to cook dinner. So I headed on over and ordered straight from the window. Leon, who is extremely enthusiastic and just down right a cool cat, greated me at the window. I was torn between jerk shrimp or jerk chicken, but went with this recommendation based on how substantial the chicken portion is. It was ready in only 15 minutes and once I got home, I quickly dug in. TERRIBLE. Online says they open 10..... got there at 11..... guy said they aren't open till 12.... Okay so we waited walked around and came back .... The guy is watching us stand at the window ignoring us. So we went around back he tells us he won't be open another 30 minutes he needs more time to make food !!!! WHAT?????? At this point it's past 12:00 We waited an hour already. Jamaican food doesn't take 2 hours to cook most meats require long cooking process so the issue is you clearly didn't arrive to work early enough and now your turning customers down bc you open 2 hours late and have ONE employee who clearly can't keep up with the work. We tried out this new place and were really happy we did! We all got the jerk chicken in various forms. I got the jerk wings which I loved! My mom got the jerk dinner with the rice and peas and Cole slaw. And my cousin got the jerk and fries. My brother got the pork jerk dinner snd didn't like it as much as the chicken. Came here last Sunday with my mom after a long day out. We ordered the Jerk Salmon and the Brown stew fish. They said the wait would be 25 minutes, but we wended up waiting a good 45 minutes for our food and it was so expensive. $73 for 2 meals that we could get for no more than $40 at Tropical Jerk or Golden Crest, or that I could make myself honestly. The waiting area outside is really small and if there's a crowd, you're not getting a seat. We had to take our food back home even though we got there before the crowd but because the wait was long we lost a seat. The saving grace was that the food was pretty good. I think the stew fish was better than the salmon. Also the chef was nice as he'd seen we'd be waiting for a long time and rushed our food out. The staff was kind all in all. If it weren't for the wait and the price though I'd give the place a higher rating. read more
