I've visited this location many times back when it was a different establishment, but eventually stopped going. When the new restaurant took over, I kept hearing great things and decided to give it a try. My husband had actually been bringing food home for a while, he goes to the barbershop across the street, and every time I tasted it, I was impressed. I finally went myself and ordered the escovitch fish, and it was absolutely worth it. It was made fresh to order and was hands down the best escovitch fish I've had from a restaurant in a long time. I also tried the fried breadfruit, cornmeal porridge, beef patties, and ackee and saltfish, everything was delicious. The rum punch is amazing as well! I'm really looking forward to going back to dine in because I'm beyond impressed. It's not easy to find truly authentic and flavorful Jamaican food on Long Island. Usually, you have to travel to Brooklyn or Queens, but honestly, this place competes with and even surpasses many spots there. I truly hope this restaurant continues to thrive. We ordered take out to have Jamaican food picnic at the beach. We came around noon on a Sunday & ordered jerk pork, jerk chicken & oxtail. The wait is not that long, but we have to change one of our orders midway through our wait because we were told the jerk chicken wont be ready in another 30 min or so. so we swapped it for fried chicken instead. All the 3 dishes were delicious, flavorful & if its spicier it would have been a plus! i just happen to like spicy food. The rice taste so good & the serving is good for 2. The price is also reasonable. One drawback though the young lady at the cashier looks very impatient when taking our order. She gives the impression she's tired to entertain any basic question about the menu when infact we are the only customers at the resto at that time. I was in the mood for some Jamaican food and Rock and Come In popped up on my search. The reviews were mixed, but I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt and try them out. I called for takeout and the reception could have been better, but I suppose that's all they were capable of giving. I was told that I could come right away and the food would be ready. I ordered the Rasta Pasta with Jerk Chicken. I arrived there in less than 15 minutes. Upon entering the establishment the place was not busy in the least. Only one other individual was sitting at the counter. I saw a bag on the counter. It so happened to be mine. A woman behind the counter went over the contents of the bag before ringing up the meal. The bottom of the bag didn't feel hot, so I'm not sure how long the food was sitting out. I was still hopeful that the food was hot, but upon opening up the container of food, because I was hungry, the food was lukewarm and the chicken looked dry, but tasted OK. After a few bites, the food was no longer pleasant. There was a lot of oil sitting at the bottom and middle of the container and the pasta was soggy. Almost as if it was reheated. I must say this is probably the best curry chicken I've ever had THats from a restaurant. I grew up with plenty of west Indian friends, & so you could imagine .. the amount of food i was fed! Their moms is cooking was the best! The curry chicken head so much flavor and it wasn't overly spicy that I got to enjoy the chicken. The rasta pasta.... WOW. I wanted to lick my plate clean. Ordered during the Pandemic. Door Dash pickup order advised would be ready in 35 minutes. Door Dash called to advise that there was no Escovitz Chicken so that we could substitute. Enabled us to order Large Curry Goat. This was fresh and authentic and well seasoned, cooked until the goat was fall off the bone tender. Even though it was curry, we detected some jerk seasoning (clove, allspice, thyme I'm guessing?) Ox tail with Fried Chicken Combo enabled us to have two other meats in one at 19.99 price. The Fried Chicken was not greasy and well seasoned. The ox tail was well seasoned and fall off the bone delicious. There was not a lot of fat in the ox tail sauce. The Mac n Cheese was delicious and made more like a casserole the way my mom made it, with the cheese on the top and not homogenized as a cheese blend throughout. This was delicious. The steamed vegetables were seasoned cabbage which wasn't overcooked: nice and crunchy and tasted great. The surprise of the meal was the Rasta Pasta side which was quiet generous. At first I thought that there was a different mac n cheese. This was al dente ziti with a delicious pepper, parmesan, light cream with again possible hint of jerk seasoning ingredients. All for under $50 including combo and larger goat order. The order was ready 5 minutes before the app predicted and the woman at the counter advised to hold the shopping bag from the bottom for support. No contact pleasant interaction and pleasant staff. The fat was not rendered like I like. The jerk fried chicken was the one item I would not order again. The rice was tasty and had lots of great add ins. The jerk chicken breast was dry and hard and lacked any jerk flavor. I actually picked it out. So I happened to be parked right outside this spot. Saw several people go in and out for take out. Decided to try it. Picked up the jerk chicken with Mac and cheese, plantains and veggies. Festival and rum cake... I got the medium size and it's big enough to save half for another day. The jerk chicken was yummy. They included a BBQ sauce on the side and that was very tasty too. I am not a fan of this style Mac and cheese. I ate some of it but threw out the rest. Perhaps you'll like it but just not my thing. I prefer it to have a cheese sauce not just stiff cheese melted on. The festival kind of has a donut texture to it. It's not bad but not for me. The rum cake was ok. It was pretty dense though. You get a nice kick of rum when you bit into it. Wish they offered a rum syrup on the side to pour over it. They gave me a huge Togo paper shopping bag. Could of fit about 7-8x the food in there. I've tried this spot a handful of times for take out and a delivery, enough so I feel comfortable to give it a fair rating. The food is good to very good, with generous portions. But there's usually something that keeps me from giving it 5 stars. Sometimes the food is only warm, even when picked up right away. Not a huge deal. My wife's family is Jamaican so she says some recipes, like the oxtail, aren't made true to her memory, but my family is Bajan and it tastes good to me. Still, even though she notes the difference, she's reordered it, so it it's just different, not unpleasant. One dish I found perplexing is the barbecue chicken. Their version is beautifully fried extra crispy - then doused in a nondescript bbq sauce! I got it for my 7 y.o. who was NOT a fan. I asked my wife if this was a Jamaican thing - she assured me it was not. The delivery was without utensils. Not a big deal, unless we had just moved in. We hadn't, but they didn't know that. I would like to start off by saying the food is amazing. The food was so good I ordered take out twice in one week. The staff is hardworking and friendly. I ordered three dinners with sides and everything was so fresh. I was able to try their jerk salmon which was well seasoned and perfectly prepared. Their rasta pasta was creamy and very flavorful. Their fried shrimp made perfectly I promise. I would recommend giving the business some time to prepare your meal because they do have a large fan base. The only reason I didn't rate 5 stars is that both times I visited there were some sides missing but I will mention it to the staff when I return again. Literally a hidden gem in Baldwin!! Been looking for new places to try out and I couldn't believe I have been missing out on some good eats!! As there quote from Bob Marley says, "One love, one heart , let's get together and feel alright." The food and service gives you the same feel as those words do to me! I ordered a medium curry goat with Rasta pasta steamed veggies and also there sweet chili wings with a rum punch! Let's talk about that curry goat OH MY GOODNESS!! There curry goat is SUPER delicious, tender, literally cooked to perfection!! One great thing I like about there curry goat is they don't give you meat and not so much bones!! The steamed veggies had a nice buttery taste, nicely steamed and sautéed! But there Rasta Pasta!! I must say was nicely cooked and seasoned to perfection!! I decided to try something new and never noticed this little store. I decided to get the jerk chicken for myself and the jerk pork for my boyfriend which was spicy but great. Came here with a few friends last week. Thought this place would be okay due to the 3.7 rating. So we ordered 3 oxtail dinners 2 orders of mac & cheese and rasta pasta. The total came out to be $95+ which was my first suspicion. When I asked the clerk for a receipt she seemed reluctant but gave it. I noticed that they charged me an extra oxtail dinner so I went to ask for an adjustment.. although they complied I still found it unprofessional and suspicious... if thats not mad enough, the food was cold and mediocre at best. The oxtail and chicken combo let me chose which chicken I wanted so I got jerk chicken with oxtails and Rasta pasta instead of rice as well as garden salad instead of steamed veggies. Off the back go for the veggies instead the salad it isn't worth it even if it comes free with the meal. The oxtails had good flavor and it's tender. The jerk chicken was juicy and the Rasta pasta is ok but the plate altogether taste a little too sweet for my taste. Me and my bf had a phase where we would order from this place religiously. We both have intolerances to dairy and a major habit of ordering food so we've not ordered from here in a few months. But, I am hoping I'll get to visit this place soon because I've never physically been here. We always ordered through UberEats and the food always ALWAYS comes hot. Rock And Come In opened only about 7 weeks ago; front counter staff told us that they area doing a good business on the week end, a good enough business during the week. Not a bad start for the chancy winter opening of a new restaurant. Service was quite personal, our food came out piping hot, in a more than adequate portion for lunch, was really quite flavorful, and we enjoyed the background, reggae music. The decor is a contemporary black and grey with a pop of bright red bar height chairs, and yet, the front counter is completely bare, with no adornment whatsoever on that side of the restaurant. That may change as this establishment finds itself. On the down side, one of our dishes, the Escovitch chicken was a huge portion with three pieces of sweetly hot sauced chicken, the other order of Jerk chicken was comprised of only one, small thigh. Disappointing. There was a decent amount of rice and beans layered on the bottom of the plastic container (check out my pictures), and a small side salad. Our last concern was that the gentleman making our lunch, although he was wearing a short apron, was also wearing clothes that appeared quite dirty, most likely from wiping his hands on them. I'm giving them three stars because I've only tried one dish. I had the brown stewed chicken with peas n rice and cabbage, which was very good. I like that the cabbage was cooked, not like most restaurants where it's practically raw. They don't have a problem giving you lots of gravy, which I like. Customer service is extremely important, they are extremely rude. I ordered twice from there through Uber & both times they forgot to send a portion of the food. When I call they tell me to come pick it up. If I paid extra money to order from Uber so it's convenient why would I want to drive there & pick up what they forgot to give me. I can understand once they make the mistake but twice? They are not organized. Most likely the one answering the phone doesn't own the restaurant. & if it's the owner you're in the wrong business!!!
