We were celebrating my mother-in-law's 85th b'day and many of our go-to Haitian spots in North Jersey/Nyack area have closed. So I did some online research and decided to go to Pops and Poosh. But before I ordered a big catering order I decided to order something first. After one bite of the fruit and poulet, I knew I found my spot The next day I came fory catering order and I was actually running late. And they called me to see if I was still coming, so clearly they were ready by our agreed upon time. All in all, my wife's family was Happy with the Food and my selection. We'll be back! read more

On my way to visit family, I did an internet search and this restaurant was highly recommended. I placed a phone call and a pleasant rep answered the call and confirmed they sell patties. Upon arrival, their place was very clean. I did not catch the man who prepared the dozen patties for me but he was very professional and they take apple pay which made things so much easier. My family and I loved how it tasted and I would go back again to get another batch. read more

I keep coming back for the patties. They're buttery, flaky, and have a delicious and crave-worthy filling.

Stopped by Pops & Poosh for lunch and had such a great experience. I'm a big fan of Haitian food and don't come across many spots nearby, so finding this place felt like a real gem. We visited on a Sunday and were lucky enough to catch Soup Joumou day. The soup was rich, comforting, and full of flavor. I had the beef version and finished every bite. The patties were another standout: flaky, crispy, and juicy. We tried both beef and chicken, and the beef was definitely the favorite. We also ordered black rice with peas, fried plantains, stewed chicken, baked mac and cheese, and griot to go. Everything was made fresh, well-seasoned, and the portions were just right. The drinks were refreshing too, we had the Couronne Fruit Champagne soda and the Ji Sitwon lemonade. One thing to note: food is cooked to order, so it's best not to come in a rush or to call ahead if you're short on time. It was about a 45-minute drive for us, but absolutely worth it. Even the leftovers didn't last long at home. Plenty of parking, great food, and a spot I'll definitely be returning to. If you're looking to try Haitian cuisine or switch things up, Pops & Poosh in Baldwin is well worth a visit. read more

I love me a good Haitian Patty, and I will travel to get some. This restaurant lives up to the social media hype! On a Saturday afternoon I was able to walk in and get a dozen chicken and a dozen oxtail. Yes, OXTAIL patties! They were delicious, the pastry surrounding the meat was soft and flaky. I wish I lived closer so I could get an order more often. Service and presentation was amazing. They're easy to get to, right off Merrick Road, and in a small shopping center with ample pull up parking. Can't wait to come back and try their traditional plates. I am almost embarrassed to say I haven't had black rice yet! But I will try theirs next! read more

not an ounce of flavor or tender. I sadly had to add salt. Missing all of the classic flavor of griot. I've had their patties here before and that's why I decided to try the griot. I will never stray from my go to Queens Haitian spot read more

Service was terrible i ordered a dozen patties in advance and called a couple of times to confirm my order prior to pick up. Order was confirmed ready 3 times. On the day of my daughter's bday party i went to pick up the order and the restaurant worker yelled at me and dismissed me. When I called to speak to someone regarding my concerns they yelled at me and hung up the phone on me. Terrible experience!!!!!!! read more

I really wish I would have ordered more food i ordered a Mac & cheese which came still very hot as if it just came out of the oven. We were hanging around the area at the pond after good brunch @ sweet & savory cafe. So glad this place was nearby walking distance. We all got cod and beef patties, the dough was perfectly flakey, flavor was good. I would want more cod inside. Lemonade was good made fresh. Good brand coconut wrapper. Overall, good food, great service, & AC! read more

This Haitian food hit the spot! For starters we had the chicken, beef, cod and shrimp patties, they were flaky and had a good amount of filling my daughter absolutely loved them and even wanted some to go. You could taste the vanilla in the homemade Haitian lemonade & cola lacaye will always be offered at any authentic Haitian restaurant. For our entree I couldn't resist getting the Red snapper with diri djondjon (Black rice) and fried plantains. The snapper was a decent size and was fried well a fish sauce was also given and it had good spice to it with peppers and onions. My daughter had chicken in sauce with white rice and black bean sauce. Bean sauce with white rice is her favorite so she was sold the chicken she mentioned being good. The portions are good some entrees I'm sure are good to share. Customer sevice is A1 which is so important to keeping these small businesses around! We can't wait to return and try some other menu options. read more

My first time trying Haitian cuisine at the raving request of a coworker. There patties are like nothing I've ever had. The crust is almost indescribable. Light and flaky yet soft with just enough filling. We tried the herring, cod fish and beef patties. Excellent. The goat and stew chicken was devoured by everyone. Totally pleased to welcome this variety to Baldwin. Now let's get out and support them. You won't be disappointed. read more

A solid 3.5. I've been wanting to come here for months after seeing a social media post that made my mouth water. I finally made it to Long Island. The customer service was excellent. A nice gentleman took my order. I ordered the conch patties and the griot with black rice and Mac and cheese. I'll start with the good part. The pattie was soooo good. Not oily. Just the right amount of flakiness and filling. It was tasty. The Mac and cheese was the best I ever had at a Haitian restaurant. Simply delicious and flavorful. The black rice was amazing. Chef kiss. The bad ....the griot. This is Not to tear down the business. Just to help improve. It's the worst I ever ate. It lacked seasoning. That's not the worst part. It was super dry. Almost not edible. Not juicy or crunchy like it's supposed to be. I suspect it's not fried but baked. Then baked again to reheat. No moisture. I was disappointed but it's okay. I will try their other offerings when I'm in Long Island. . read more

It all started w/that unsteady feeling of walking into an establishment serving up a culture not your own, but that disappeared almost immediately as we were greeted warmly by Pops himself at the counter. As we conversed over the menu items he thoroughly explained all the love that goes into each dish then offers my buddy & I free samples of their made from scratch beef & pork patties while we waited for our orderssssssss. Yes, my buddy ordered his chicken stew while I ordered pork spare ribs & then I saw that conch was also on the menu....ordered that too! lol. W/o a doubt Pops & Pooch delivered as promised but won us over w/their amazing southern hospitality so very inviting like everyone's invited to sit at their table to break bread.....thnx again!!!!!!! See you very soon..... read more

I love the food here! The lambi and black rice are my favorite things to get along with patties and accra. We drove here from New Hyde Park to give Pops and Poosh a try! We ordered two lemonades, a fritaille platter with griot, a side of Mac and cheese and a side of duri djondjon. The lemonade tasted very authentic according to my husband and I loved it, too! It has a nice essence of Haitian vanilla that you can really taste. The griot, the national dosh of Haiti was very well seasoned and fried to perfection! We really loved it (and bonus, they didn't give a plate full of bones or too much fat). The rest of the fritaille was delicious, too (Accra, bannan peze, and sweet potato). The Mac and cheese was lukewarm, but tasted good and is very creamy. I'm actually glad it wasn't too hot because I had to feed my hungry daughter right away! The duri djon djon was piping hot and tasted good, too. The portions are pretty small, but inflation-what can you do? we would definitely come back and definitely recommend this restaurant for anyone wanting to try authentic Haitian food! read more

I called ahead to pre-order some Haitian patties! When I got there over an hour later, the order wasn't ready and I'm standing there and standing there and standing there instead of helping me, they took the Asian man standing behind me first. Why are you skipping the line????? It's nice to see people from different cultures eating Haitian food, but don't diss your own. And the service is too damn slow here. Do you think we have all day to stand there just to get some patties???? You lost my business!!!! When I asked if my order was ready, the guy behind the counter said in a nasty tone " I have no idea"!!! They were acting as if Tim was the damn president of the United States!!! I believe patties with chicken haitian style is my most fave thing on its menu!! I also enjoy smoked herrings as well

They need to update their business hours more consistently. Wasted time twice driving over just to find them closed during what says are open business hours. When we came and they were open, their chicken pate and bullion with beef are yummy. Oxtail pate are ok. Gave us fish pate instead of beef. (We don't like those so they went to waste after the first bite confirming the flavor.) Staff is very friendly and i formative on optuons. Open to trying other meal options another time. read more

Allow me to first say , this is my second time going there and I've always received really good customer service... but today I have to be honest and say this legume I purchased was HORRIBLE .. Haitians can't cook legume anymore .. I sue to fly to Miami to go eat some great Haitian food . not only was the presentation of the food was horrible as if it were something ordered at lunch special the food was horrible.. I drove 48 minutes to go buy food there and I was so upset at what was given to me and for the 21 dollars . And a total of 41 dollars I got nothing for this price .. The legume and white rice put in the same metal container as if I just ordered some cheap Chinese food. I should have went to the spanish store to eat ..I also ordered some patties and that was horrible ..no way this was oxtail Patties. I really wanted to cry because I put the food in the garbage .. I could not eat it .. I was so upset. Never gain .. I was so surprised at how the food was put together I called and questioned it . And was told yeah that's how we serve it . Didn't seem to care .. read more

I am so happy I found this Haitian restaurant on Yelp. Haitian food is top tier, but in the states most Haitian immigrants focus on healthcare, law or engineering, so you don't see as many restaurants. I am happy to see more Haitian restaurants popping up. If you have never had Haitian food, be prepared for lots of flavor as the spices are left to marinate into the dishes. And I will be bold enough to say that the rice is the best in the Caribbean. I ordered the legume (vegetable stew) which came with sauce pois (bean sauce) and white rice and the Mac n cheese. EVERYTHING was delicious and fresh! I was pleasantly surprised to learn they don't automatically add meat to it, but you can get that separately. The portions were generous and I found Poosh and his mother to be so hospitable over the phone and in person. So happy to support a Haitian business at this time! read more

Thanks to the Grubfather, I came across this dope new Haitian spot in Baldwin today. I can't say enough about how great everything was from the friendly service, how quick it was ready, and the FLAVOR. I had originally come in for griot, but ended up getting the stew chicken, mac & cheese, ackra, haitian patties and lemon juice. Everything was on point! I can't even pick what was my favorite. You need to check out this family owned spot ASAP. I'll definitely be back soon for some griot! read more

When I got word that they opened a new Haitian spot on Long Island, I absolutely had to try it out! Growing up on Long Island I made many Haitian friends, and I was always fortunate to be the beneficiary of their parents' delicious cooking whenever I was around. Pops & Poosh brings me back to those days I spent at my friends houses! From their delicious Legim, which is a stewed vegetable dish that you can get with or without meat, to the savory Haitian patties (You can get different types- Chicken, Beef, Cod Fish, Herring, Veggie, or Conch. I tried the Chicken, Cod Fish, and Beef. All of them are fantastic!). Everything is made with love and passion, as well as flavor that will have your taste buds dancing (To Kompa, perhaps!). I really wish I would've took a picture of the food, but I was so excited to dig in that I failed to do so. You're just going to have to take my word for it when I say Pops & Poosh is a must try if you're wanting something different and delicious! read more

CAUTION. FRAUD ALERT! I ordered through grubhub. It arrived incomplete. I called the restaurant directly to address it. I was ultimately told grubhub has the item listed incorrectly. But instead of calling me to address it they filled the order minus the item. I called grubhub to let them know and they refunded me for the missing item. Hours later a 2nd order was places which I did not initiate for the disputed item. Grubhub cacelled it after I addressed it. This place is despicable and criminal. read more

There are not many Haitian restaurants that also sell patties, and Pops & Poosh is the only one I know of. Not only that, but they have more than the standard options of chicken, beef, and herring. They also offer lambi (conch) and griot (pork). The griot patty I know is grabbing the attention of anyone who reads this. Last Sunday I was in the mood for soup so I went and got their soup joumou. Now I don't have to drive to Queens or wait to have some at my parents' house. First of all, they offer two options, with and without meat. And they didn't slack on the meat. The soup was well seasoned. If only I had some Haitian bread to go with it. A dream for another day. read more

Food was delicious. Best Haitian I ever had. Food was fresh. Customer service was excellent, nice & clean environment.

I went here the other day after hearing amazing reviews from a few different people and seeing the clips on tiktok. The restaurant itself was very clean on the inside with a beautiful display of houses in Haiti. However, I wasn't impressed by the food. I ordered tassot with white rice and sos pwa. I also ordered a beef patty which turned out to be free because it was my first time there. On my drive home I indulged in the beef patty, which was delicious, it wasn't too flaky (which I appreciated since I was in my car) and the beef was seasoned to perfection. As a Haitian, I really wanted to enjoy this place, however, I was extremely disappointed. My meal didn't come with a side of sauce or a side of pikliz. In my opinion the sos pwa was too watery and the rest of the meal tasted extremely off. read more
