This is a speakeasy hidden inside Wren and Wolf and it is sexy as hell. They make you lock your phone up in a locker so I don't have a lot of pics but make sure you check out all of the creative decor. Love the ammunition chandelier and the antler decor in the bathroom! There is bar seating and the rest of the place is communal seating so be prepared to get cozy with strangers. You only get 90 minutes here before you get the boot but it's definitely worth a visit. The drinks are fantastic! We went for the Christmas themed "Rudolph's Wrath" event which was really fun. No food here though, so make reservations at Wren and Wolf! read more

It's pretty neat. The idea of the taxidermy continues into here with a hunting room so it all makes sense. I do like the idea of locking the phones up so you're more "present" with your present company. But don't forget to wear a watch! You have to make a reservation online in advance with a deposit ($25 per person) and have a limited amount a time to enjoy it, (90 minutes). For drinks I had the Down with the Thickness which had rum, sweetened condensed milk, cereal milk, and amaro. It was nice and strong. My friend had the Bed of Roses which was much better, highly recommend that one, we all found it to be the favorite. Also, no food policy which we were not a fan of. We just wanted appetizers or something to munch on having come from Symphony Hall straight to our reservation here. Some food from Wren & Wolf, or your own menu would be nice. Just a little something. Otherwise, cool place with projections illuminating movement over paintings, making them come to life, and beautiful decor and furniture throughout. Staying in Downtown Phoenix. Found the Speakeasy on Yelp. The hostess asked if I had a reservation, but being an early Tuesday night (8pm) they walked me right back and gave me the tour. Larissa was bartending and did a phenomenal job of explaining the cocktail menu. I found the "Spirit Forward" bourbon-based cocktails I was looking for and watched Larissa go to work. Are "speakeasy's" and "hidden" bars passé? Perhaps the novelty of it is; but for the standouts.... What was once just an idea is now a strong concept that deserves attention. The Trophy Room, tucked in the back of Wren, is a 40 seater bar with class, vibe and personality. The decor is an extension of what you see in the main restaurant (since phones are not allowed inside - this will help your imagination). The drinks (A5, "Manhattan" and a "surprise") were fantastic and fairly priced. The attention to detail and the care for each cocktail were impressive. However what stood out most was the craft stylist's (Alexis or "Lex") wizardry and passion. Sure, "fancy" bars need "fancy staff," but it was her and her counterpart's (didn't get his name - but was on as a bartender's assistant as well as a main) friendly and welcoming vibe that made the drinks seem even better. I get it... servers are out to make $ too.... But if you can get someone who loves what they do, knows what they are doing and can do it with a welcoming attitude..... that is something 99% of establishments never accomplish. I hate to be that gal but this wasn't anything special as it was a themed lounge that offered mixed cocktails. I think it's a cool laid back atmosphere but it isn't something I would drive out of my way to bring my friends to experience. The service was decent and drinks were good enough. The menu included various mixed cocktails and the last page had non alcoholic options too. I originally thought the trophy room would be more of an interactive experience with the bartenders/staff, however, once you put your phone away, you are then led to your seat(s) to order the drinks from the menu and that's that. When you book this, keep in mind that you have to put down a $50 deposit which goes towards your drink tab. There is no food. My husband and I ordered a total of 3 drinks and we still paid about $8 more (without tip). So the drink prices are pricier than average. As a recommendation, if you do decide to book this experience, make sure you book the restaurant too. The food in the restaurant was delicious but that'll be in another post. Overall, I would maybe recommend this for a group of friends that are just visiting the area but other than that, I would just stick to making reservations at the restaurant. I really liked this concept!! It was nice to just interact with your group and absolutely no phone distractions. It was funny to see how we needed phone to look things up or we thought we lost our phones, but it was just locked up. They only have drinks there and no food. Great menu, really interesting, nuanced drinks with beautiful presentation. Friendly non-intrusive servers were helpful with recommendations based on preferred spirits/flavor profiles. Love that they make you lock up your phone before you come in, which helped me enjoy the company and environment without distraction. After checking in at the front we were ushered to a side area at wren and wolf for almost 15 min, which was kind of annoying, before we were led back to Trophy Room. Honestly it's okay. I feel like influencers are hyping it up The no phone thing was fine but also felt unnecessary there was nothing that amazing going on in the bar. They call it a cocktail experience but the only experience is that there are no phones. Highlights- the drinks are tasty and the bartender (Grant) was really nice! Lows- although the drinks are good they're not that special compared to some of the other spots downtown. Each drink was about $17. Biggest turn off is that we arrived a few minutes early for our 8:00 reservation and awkwardly stood in the front entrance of the Wren and Wolf until 8:20 while watching other people that came in after us be taken back first. When I asked the manager Teddy about it he said they had checked in first when I know that is not true because I had directed the same people on where to check in. We made a reservation in advance and it's $25 a person and then that $25 goes towards your bill. The bar is exquisitely decorated and every aspect is so detailed and amazing. Servers were incredibly polite. There are about 20 drinks on the menu, and every single one looks amazing. They offer 3 non-alcoholic cocktails/mock tails so okay to take someone who isn't drinking. We each had 2 drinks, so 4 drinks total and the bill was $94 after tip and tax. Seems like each drink is about ~$18. If I could give it a 3.75 I would. I love speakeasy's, so anytime I have an opportunity to discover a new one I'm going. While visiting the area, this place kept coming up in my search and so I decided why not. You do have to make a reservation and pay a "deposit" with you reservation (which was a big turn off to me honestly. I already have to deal with that with hair and nail stylists, now restaurants/bars??) that goes towards your order. After dinner at Wren and Wolf I mosey to the hostess area to check in. They have you put your phone in a locked box and you enter this room that looks like a study from the 1920/30's. The ambiance is given very much prohibition era and the servers are dressed the part as well. Speaking of severs, they were nice and super helpful. I also enjoyed watching them make cocktails (they had just about every ingredient you could imagine and took their time crafting each drink). I ordered two drinks and honestly it was just meh. Nothing that had me wanting to come back. My bill came out to be a little over $20 with tax and tip, so for two drinks I paid almost $50 (remember the $25 "). Beautiful place. Great speakeasy vibe.
