    Al Pastor Torta (Marinated Pork)

The food is amazing, me, my fiancé and my daughter went and got some food and at first we couldn't find it because of the renovations going on outside BUT regardless of that the food is great. It was our first time and everything was yummy. We were the first order today and I can say they make stuff fresh. The service was great and welcoming.

I first visited thanks to Yelp and made a return on my own. This time, I tried tacos and they were delicious! Filled with meat that wasn't dry, but well seasoned. The corn tortilla were not dry and didn't tear, just the right thickness. The person who helped me was friendly and service was quick. I'll definitely be returning and recommending this place.

I was first introduced to this business through Yelp a few years ago, and I've returned several times for official Yelp events and on my own. I'm just now writing a review! Better late than never. The service is always great! The food is very authentic and so delicious. This is where I got "put onto" pupusas! Today I stopped by for "Taco Tuesday." I got two chicken tacos ($2.50 each) and two steak tacos ($2.99 each). I didn't have to wait too long. The space inside isn't huge but there's a couple seats. In the warmer months, there's outside seating! Check out Trippy's if you haven't yet! You won't regret it!

Forgot to picture the rest of my food but this food is just ok! The al pastor and carnitas were way more salty than I would've liked and could not really enjoy it because of that. The portions of the burrito and tacos were reasonable, but $12.49 for a burrito I would've enjoyed fresher ingredients. The hibiscus drink was refreshing. The service was nice and the employees were friendly.

This hidden taco spot is just what I needed on a Monday evening after work. The service was good, and our food came out quickly. It's a pretty small restaurant (clean) but I did sit down and eat the trippy nachos which were absolutely amazing! So fresh and loaded full of flavor! The guacamole was so good. I loved the nachos! Additionally, we tried the chicken and steak tacos which were delicious as well, and I loved the birria ramen. That was my favorite, so much flavored packed into that ramen. Definitely the best Birria ramen I've had to date and a must try!! I will most certainly be back because this food was so good. I'm a taco girl so I'm so happy I found another authentic taco place.

Pro: restaurant beeper. Con: price, food. Was at the June 29,2024 Gaithersburg summer fest and Trippy Tacos were one of many food vendors at the location. I ordered the chicken taco and the steak nachos. The tortilla of the taco didn't test fresh and the chicken was very bland. The nacho didn't have that much cheese, the chip was kind of soggy, and too many sauces on top. The only positive is that the taco truck has a beeper to let you know when to come pick up your food. All in all, I don't know if the quality of the food here in their food truck is different from the sit down restaurant but I know I won't be eating here again in the future. The only thing "trippy" about this establishment is the price of the foods and the subpar taste.

I had recently stopped by Trippy Tacos to grab a quick lunch, and it didn't disappoint! Their menu is pretty extensive, offering items such as tacos, burritos, quesadillas, tortas, birria, nachos, fries, pupusas, mulitas, and various sides, along with rotating/featured specials. I ordered a cheese pupusa and a medium-sized horchata (they also have a large size, too) - usually, I like my pupusas a bit more crispy and more on the 'greasier' end, but Trippy Tacos' version was pretty tasty - sure, it could have been crispier, but I felt like it was one of the 'healthier' versions of a pupusa; the filling, however, was generously stuffed with cheese, and while stuffing my face, I was trying to figure out how they were able to do this! The horchata was more on the thinner consistency, but it was still tasty and refreshing. Service here is super kind, friendly, and welcoming - the staff are very sweet! I really liked how small and intimate this place was - it was well-decorated, and there were a couple of tables and stools at the counter. Another plus was that there was a sink by the entrance where you can wash your hands before- and after your meal - so convenient! I'd love to check out their highly-rated nachos, the pupusa pizza, and their Taco Tuesday specials. Plenty of parking in the lot. +cheesy pupusas! +friendly & kind staff! +ample parking in the lot

Great find! Not only good Mexican food but excellent Peruvian food as well. I got to interact with the two ladies in the kitchen, and they were kind and professional. I saw them cooking things from scratch, and you can taste it. The lomo saltado had lots of sauce, fresh veggies, and that char flavor you get from the flame when you stir fry. The ceviche was also of outstanding quality. We look forward to returning and trying more items. I'm hoping they have more agua fresca flavors if others taste like the horchata and tamarindo.. boy oh boy, I'm in trouble!

So glad i was able to try a new taco spot. I got the trippy fries and the birria ramen for my partner. He said he'd get the ramen again and that it reminded him of chili from Kentucky. There were lots of fries for $15. I'll try it again :).

I wish this place was closer to me because I really loved their Lengua tacos! [Food: 4 of 5] Lengua Tacos- 5 of 5.. I mean.. Lengua tacos are my all time favorite tacos. These meat pieces were bigger than what you would typically get at *generic taco shop* - and they were soo juicy. I ordered 2 tacos that came out to a little over $7, to me, that's definitely worth it. Al Pastor Tacos - 1 of 5 - I really did not enjoy this taco at all. And..that's all I'll say about that. Carne Asada con queso - 5 of 5- I have never had flour tortilla tacos served with cheese! I honestly was taken aback when they asked if I wanted this with cheese or not. Eaten fresh, it's super toasty with the cheese melting and oozing. Even when we let the taco sit there for awhile and cheese had hardened, it still tasted so good. Pupusas con friojles y queso- 5 of 5 - The pupusas was nice and hot- The pupusa was over filled with beans (not that I'm complaining) - I wish the sauces given were spicy or had a kick (I love spicy). The pickled vegetables for the pupusas were fresh and tangy, paired very will with thier pupusa. Drinks: I did not get their frescas but they offered tamarind, horchata and... one more flavor but I can't remember. They had a large variety of sodas in their cooler, including Pepsi Zero products which I thought were awesome. [Service: 5 of 5] The person who helped us at the register was so friendly and helpful. He let us know about the Taco Tuesday deals and offered ice to us with our soda since it wasn't cold. [Ambiance: 3.5 of 5?] The place was very small, like maybe it was a mom and pop shop? It was just the kitchen and then 1 small table for 2 and a bar along the window with some stools. The place did not have a public bathroom (which kind of sucked for me, because I drove over an hour to come here and reeally needed to use it). There was no music playing when I went, so it was kind of nice just listening to the hussle and bussle of the stoves, and the chitter chatter of the guests at the restaurants. I hope to one day venture out to this part of MD again so that I could try "the best nachos in MD" and to get some more lengua tacos!

A couple of feedback issues from a regular: the tostadas are too hard and please bring back the short rib for the dinner entree, which was easily the best tasting item and value of any restaurant anywhere. This place is amazing. Recommend: birria, Guac (don't add the herbs), carne asada, house margaritas with tequila, enchiladas with tres moles, and the pan frances for brunch. Thank me later. Service is always great, but please provide more napkins at the start.

Great Vegan Options (4.25/5)…read more Cielo Rojo is in an awkward location, sandwiched between a firehouse and a car shop. However, their food drives many customers to their doors. My family and I were looking for a new and different Mexican place with lots of vegan options and Google search showed me Cielo Rojo. I was happy to see a dedicated vegan menu and some excellent reviews so we gave it a try. Overall we were pleased with the unique menu but thought the flavors could have been elevated. Food (1.75/2) - most of the picks we had were great but some were lacking.... Flavor. The pan y macha butter was pleasantly a great start to the evening. Though the bread could have been a little softer, the macha butter wasn't overwhelming. The queso fondito could be skipped, there wasn't anything special and in fact I wouldn't order it next time. The guacamole was fresh and herby, however, there just wasn't enough of it in one order. I wouldn't recommend ordering two even for just two people. The street corn was a hit between my kids and my wife. They loved the sweet, tangy, and spicy corn that melted in their mouths. And the tacos were great as well. However, I felt the Gorditas under delivered for sure. I was expecting a flavor punch but received more of a chewy patty on a bland sauce. But if life could be thrown on it by additional fresh herbs and flavors. Drinks (1/1) - we only tried one cocktail and ordered a Mexican cola for our dinner but what we received was good enough to show they know their drinks. My drink wasn't under spiked or unbalanced, it went smoothly. The hibiscus flavor along with the spirit was showing boldly through the syrups. I wouldn't recommend ordering love to try another cocktail next time. Service (0.75/1) - I wish I could say the service was exceptional but there were times we were waiting too long for a service member to show up. They were friendly and polite but definitely could have had more touch points with us throughout the night. We sorta felt abandoned at times. Again, nothing much to complain but something to improve upon. Decor (0.75/1) - overall, it's a welcoming spot with art pieces of their heritage. However, there were lots of dusty sellables that probably should be removed from the dining floor. It didn't mix well with a great restaurant. Not sure if they really need to sell a rack of clothing right next to where we were sitting to be honest. In the end, the food was decent, unique, and welcoming to vegetarians so we would comeback again and give other items on their menu a try. Hopefully, flavor profile can be more prominent next time.

First, it's hidden and you could very well miss it with everything going on around the location like parked work trucks, trees and bushes. There is however lots of street parking and garage parking nearby. When I walked in, the place was completely empty but the employee working was friendly and quick to greet me and instructed me to the wall with screens to order. The menu is limited in my opinion, so I ordered the American Way tacos with chicken that only comes with cheese, lettuce and sour cream on the side. I added tomatoes for a $1 up charge and their taco salsa for another $1.50 up charge and they come 3 to an order. I also got a Jarritos fruit punch and my order came to a total of $19.60. While the dining area and bar is cute, I was quite disappointed with my food unfortunately. The chicken was flavorless and cold and given the price point, was absolutely not worth it. I would've been better off going elsewhere to get better tasting food for a fraction of the cost of the sub par tacos I had today. Perhaps I made a bad menu choice but I will not be going back.

Although we ordered a dessert, the dessert did not arrive with our order. Upon realizing the missing dessert, I called the restaurant to inquire why the dessert was not included in the delivery. The person who answered the phone told me that the dessert was not included because they did not have the ingredients to make it. Ok, I understand that happens from time to time. However, I did not really understand why the restaurant could not have called me to inform me that they could not supply the dessert. When this has happened in past with other restaurants, they usually ask if you would like a refund or another similarly-priced item. Fortunately, it was not a problem to get a refund from Grubhub. The packaging was a mess. We ordered eight tacos, which were delicious, but they jammed them all into one container. By the time, the food arrived the tortillas were pretty stuck to each other. I thought the restaurant skimped on the portion size for the chips and salsa portions, which made the sideway overpriced for $9.

Funny thing is just about everything he suggested was something I was thinking of getting & debating, so that made it harder to decide. We had a nice table by the window & it was a moderately busy evening by the time we finished dinner so noise level had picked up. They have a couple tables outside too. Waiter was not as attentive as needed for refilling water, but he was only 1 there tending to indoor tables. I decided to order the Mole short rib. Presentation on ALL dishes served was beautiful. My short rib was very small piece of meat, but it was SO tasty & no fatty meat was served, which I was happy about. The rice served under was delicious. Thoroughly enjoyed my selection. The 2nd recommended dish, my husband had which was the Lime & Cilantro chicken. Though it looked beautiful, the chicken itself was a "strange cut". He said it was sort of part of breast & maybe part of attached portion of thigh? He also was not happy that it had the joint & small bone (not expected) along with a fatty piece of skin attached. He said chicken did not have much flavor nor did the black beans, but he said the rice was delicious. He did finish the entire dinner but wasn't a WOW to make us go back from his perspective. And because menu is small choices, he didn't find anything else he would want to order. My friend ordered the other recommended dish, Tamales. She asked for an extra chicken Tamales, which the waiter explained it's 1 potato&corn and 1 chicken & reason there would be an up charge if she was adding 2nd chicken. you normally get a veggie Tamales & chicken Tamales. She was fine with that, but when the plate came out, only 2 not 3 as she & I expected, although my husband said, he understood that waiter was substituting the veggie for the chicken even though our friend wanted all 3 & said as much. I can't comment too much on her dish for flavor other than looking lovely, but not exactly what I envisioned. She did eat majority & took rest home. She said it was good. We ordered guacamole app which came with chips. I felt it was a bit small of a serving for both chips & guacamole. I didn't try it, but everyone said it was good. We passed on dessert, nothing super appealing, limited items. However, they should add plantains to the dessert selection as I was tempted to order, but no one else wanted any. Plantains were on the dinner sides menu and noticed them earlier. Would I go back? Maybe, but it would have to be if I was in the area, after 6p for the free parking in the lot across the street or on a weekend.

When getting ready to order on-line for the Kensington location, we noticed Tacos Don Perez has a…read moreGlenmont location which is closer to us. The Kensington location is store front while Glenmont is two trailers. When I think of a "food truck" I think of a very basic operation, go to the window, order food and wait. But Don Perez has on-line ordering, both an order and a pick up-up window and plenty of outdoor seating. I've only had the tacos because If given the opportunity I will order a taco. I love their chicken taco, the meat is shredded and flavorful and not overly spiced. I don't know what they do to the shells but they add so much. They are more soft than crunchy and are more than just a dull wrapping to hold the meat in. The tacos we order don't come with cheese but do have some crisp vegetables, I'd never thought of putting radish on a taco before, but now I'll never turn back. Of course, there is also a small container of green sauce and a wedge of lime. Not sure if it's included but we always make sure to have some pico de gallo. So happy to have discovered the Glenmont location. It's very near where Richard does volunteer work so I see a lot of taco lunches in my future.

Pretty good tacos. I would come back because the tacos carnitas were pretty alright. I wouldn't get…read morethe tacos pastor again. They weren't bad but maybe this spot does other meats better. Also had the shrimp tacos that were decent. I guess "decent" would be how I describe the food here on this trip... But something tells me to go back and get something different. The tamarind juice was good! I do appreciate how much meat they give you for the carnitas.... And prices were acceptable here.

Yummy tapas place. We stopped here after going to the movies across the street. We got a bunch of…read morethings but a favorite was the anchovies. The only thing we didn't care for was the calamari, a bit too tough and little flavor in the breading. Drinks were good. Would go here again to try more things.

I think they adjusted their lighting a little bit -- it was quite dim, and from the outside it looked pitch black. My friend made a reservation for 10 (only 6 showed), but it was fine and I feel like I always sit at the exact same table haha. The staff were very kind and asked if the first to arrive wanted to wait for others, and yes... yes we did. Once everyone arrived we dove right in and everyone enjoyed everything. We had every type of sangria and some of the highlighted foods were the mejillones, platanos, empanadas, pancakes -- on wait, let me speak on the pancakes for a second. A few times when I previously came they weren't sweet potato. I forget what the reason was, but while they and the syrup were still fantastic, I really missed the sweet potato element. But that's back now, and all is right with the world YAY! The eggs benedicts, patatas bravas, datiles, French toast, and huevos rancheros were highlights too. I think it's new, but they have a note that indicates there will be a charge for excess leftover food. I wonder when they added that?? We did an excellent job of eating literally everything, and everyone was satisfied at the end. The staff did an excellent job of checking in on us, gave us plenty of time for last call, and were so diligent. Mind you it wasn't crowded... but listen, it needs to be. I believe even the owner came by asking how everything was, and wished us well on our way out. It's been around a long time... if you haven't been to La Malinche yet, do yourself a favor and go. They have happy hour on weekdays, but the bottomless brunch... it's $41/pp now. Higher than ever, but still the best deal around.
