The queso was good, but we would have preferred that chorizo. The waitress didn't check back with us until dinner was served so we didn't have time to add it. The tuna crudo was good, but too much sesame going on there and it took away from the deliciousness of that tuna crudo. I would give it a 3 out of 5. Now for the real deal...the birria was outstanding. The brisket meat comes in the consommé and is absolutely amazing. You have to get this! The carne asada was also the bomb! The steak was cooked perfectly to medium rare as we ordered it and the crust was so good you didn't need any of the sauces. I ate the steak separately and saved the rest to eat as sides with that super spicy jalapeño. Everything on the dish was worth the $45. With the last two dishes as good as they were, this place is a 5 star restaurant all day long. It's with the drive and the restaurant is clean and runs like a well oiled machine.

We had a somewhat last minute reservation at the bar high tops, but the only downside was the table was a little small, and we ordered a lot of food. To start, I got a hibiscus margarita that was delicious and refreshing. We got the tuna tostadas which were probably my favorite dish of the night, as well as the aguachiles, the enchiladas tres moles, and a chicken quesadilla. The aguachiles were just OK to me - the tostada it is served with was not a great vessel and the mole sauce went everywhere, including on my white jeans. Maybe if you love mole and fish, you would love it, but I think you can pass. The enchiladas were really good, and every sauce was different and unique. The chicken quesadilla was also quite good, but it had a lot of nuttiness to it which to me overpowered the other flavors. This was all a lot of really tasty food, but we had to get dessert too, and ordered the churros which were fantastic. Overall, I would definitely come back. I think if you don't really like corn tortillas or seeds/nuts in your food, you will not be the biggest fan, but they have so many different menu options that it is also the kind of place where everyone will find something they like.

First, it's hidden and you could very well miss it with everything going on around the location like parked work trucks, trees and bushes. There is however lots of street parking and garage parking nearby. When I walked in, the place was completely empty but the employee working was friendly and quick to greet me and instructed me to the wall with screens to order. The menu is limited in my opinion, so I ordered the American Way tacos with chicken that only comes with cheese, lettuce and sour cream on the side. I added tomatoes for a $1 up charge and their taco salsa for another $1.50 up charge and they come 3 to an order. I also got a Jarritos fruit punch and my order came to a total of $19.60. While the dining area and bar is cute, I was quite disappointed with my food unfortunately. The chicken was flavorless and cold and given the price point, was absolutely not worth it. I would've been better off going elsewhere to get better tasting food for a fraction of the cost of the sub par tacos I had today. Perhaps I made a bad menu choice but I will not be going back.

I was working in this area and I had a taste for rolled tacos, so when I saw this place had Flautas, I had to try them. This place did not disappoint. The service was impeccable. The staff was very friendly and helpful. There's plenty of seating on the inside, family-friendly, and their menu has a little bit of something for everyone to love. The 5 flautas were made fresh to order, were crispy and so delicious. It comes with a side of rice and black beans, which were also really good, but the star of the show were the Flautas. The chicken on the inside was tender and very flavorful. The meal comes with two sauces, a salsa verde and a salsa roja that tasted like it was adobo based and both complemented this dish well. I spent about 20 bucks, including the Jarritos fruit punch soda that I got as well. I will definitely be back here again to try some of the other menu options as I heard the barria dishes are also really good here. Highly recommend.

Once we walked in we were greeted and handed a menu so we can order. The food is made to order, placed our order and waited for 10mins. Our food came out, everything looked good and tastes ok. I enjoyed my dinner. For the pizza was just too much meat and cheese but still good. We ordered a lot because we wanted to try it out so we ended up packing the rest to go.

Having lived in Tijuana, I have had the best birria tacos, and while Taco Loco's birria tacos are not better than what you can get south of the border, they are pretty darn close. They have a full menu in addition to tacos, we also had carne asada sopes. Service is friendly, nothing amazing, but it was friendly and efficient, especially only one young man was working the floor. Ambiance is a bit divey, but I think that's what makes the food taste so good. And a little secret - we liked the tacos so much we went back two days later for more. If you like authentic Mexican food then Taco Loco is a must try.

Although we ordered a dessert, the dessert did not arrive with our order. Upon realizing the missing dessert, I called the restaurant to inquire why the dessert was not included in the delivery. The person who answered the phone told me that the dessert was not included because they did not have the ingredients to make it. Ok, I understand that happens from time to time. However, I did not really understand why the restaurant could not have called me to inform me that they could not supply the dessert. When this has happened in past with other restaurants, they usually ask if you would like a refund or another similarly-priced item. Fortunately, it was not a problem to get a refund from Grubhub. The packaging was a mess. We ordered eight tacos, which were delicious, but they jammed them all into one container. By the time, the food arrived the tortillas were pretty stuck to each other. I thought the restaurant skimped on the portion size for the chips and salsa portions, which made the sideway overpriced for $9.

Dining with kids can be challenging, so it's always nice when restaurants and staff are accommodating. The staff at Sabor Mixteca went above and beyond that. They were super fast with their service, but also showed warmth and kindness the entire time that made the meal delightful. The decor in the restaurant is vibrant and fun. They also had a clean, well-kept bathroom. The food was great. Everything came out in a timely manner and was excellently flavored and balanced. You could tell that this wasn't just like your run-of-the-mill taco joint. The flavors had a depth (especially the guisado) that brought things up a notch. But, like I was saying - although the food was great and memorable, I was really appreciative of how awesome the staff was and would love visiting again if we're in the area. Would definitely recommend.

I would describe them as a combination of classic and elevated Latin food. The vibe of the restaurant is very casual, but the presentation of many of the dishes takes it to another level. I will admit service was a little slow the last time I went, but given the weather and the fact that we weren't in a rush it wasn't a big deal. If you haven't been yet, you should go. Presentation and bread could be better. We left curious about their regular menu so we may give it a try some other time. Their staff were nice but not very knowledgeable about their menu items. The Kensington location is store front while Glenmont is two trailers. When I think of a "food truck" I think of a very basic operation, go to the window, order food and wait. But Don Perez has on-line ordering, both an order and a pick up-up window and plenty of outdoor seating. I've only had the tacos because If given the opportunity I will order a taco. I love their chicken taco, the meat is shredded and flavorful and not overly spiced. I don't know what they do to the shells but they add so much. They are more soft than crunchy and are more than just a dull wrapping to hold the meat in. The tacos we order don't come with cheese but do have some crisp vegetables, I'd never thought of putting radish on a taco before, but now I'll never turn back. Of course, there is also a small container of green sauce and a wedge of lime. Not sure if it's included but we always make sure to have some pico de gallo. So happy to have discovered the Glenmont location. It's very near where Richard does volunteer work so I see a lot of taco lunches in my future.

I think they adjusted their lighting a little bit -- it was quite dim, and from the outside it looked pitch black. My friend made a reservation for 10 (only 6 showed), but it was fine and I feel like I always sit at the exact same table haha. The staff were very kind and asked if the first to arrive wanted to wait for others, and yes... yes we did. Once everyone arrived we dove right in and everyone enjoyed everything. We had every type of sangria and some of the highlighted foods were the mejillones, platanos, empanadas, pancakes -- on wait, let me speak on the pancakes for a second. A few times when I previously came they weren't sweet potato. I forget what the reason was, but while they and the syrup were still fantastic, I really missed the sweet potato element. But that's back now, and all is right with the world YAY! The eggs benedicts, patatas bravas, datiles, French toast, and huevos rancheros were highlights too. I think it's new, but they have a note that indicates there will be a charge for excess leftover food. I wonder when they added that?? We did an excellent job of eating literally everything, and everyone was satisfied at the end. The staff did an excellent job of checking in on us, gave us plenty of time for last call, and were so diligent. Mind you it wasn't crowded... but listen, it needs to be. I believe even the owner came by asking how everything was, and wished us well on our way out. It's been around a long time... if you haven't been to La Malinche yet, do yourself a favor and go. They have happy hour on weekdays, but the bottomless brunch... it's $41/pp now. Higher than ever, but still the best deal around.
