Lots of takeout, so clearly it must be popular with the immediate neighborhood. Not sure if i would add this to my standard bar circle, as there are many more pubs that have better food and friendlier service, but you know, it's nice to have options. read more

Boston sports fan are a special breed - for many, sports aren't *just* a pastime... they are a whole way of life. Between us, while I am from the Boston area, I've never been much of a sports guy. However, that doesn't mean I don't enjoy an occasional game... especially if one of Boston's teams are in the playoffs. Sorry, Chicago, my Boston teams are always number one. This isn't a destination for food or drink (though they are respectable and reasonably priced). It *is* a destination for Boston sports. There's nothing like watching a game while surrounded by people cheering at the top of their lungs for the same [out of town] team as you. Tripoli also excels are their vibe. It is a very down-to-earth dive. Reminds me of the kind of pub I would go to see a game back home (for I am one of those weirdos who doesn't have cable). Tripoli also does a great job with their service. Everyone is friendly, welcoming, and kind. Not just that, but food and drinks come out within a reasonable time, even when the place is packed with fans. Now... the NBA playoffs are done, and I straight-up don't understand baseball. Very (happily) surprised by the quality of their food. I went during a Patriots game. There is a "limited" menu during the game, but it was pretty extensive to me. Pizza is BOMB. The wings are good, the flats were the best. I wish I could have had all flats. The homemade salsa was spicy but really tasty. Drink prices are ok, but could be cheaper (as always). They have good seltzer options. They kept running out of beers, which was a little disappointing but whatever. The Pats were playing the Bears and they played the Super Bowl shuffle after the game...which I thought was lame since it is indeed a Patriots bar...Wills would never do that (Packers bar). I've only been here once, but it was an experience unlike anything else. It was Oct 26, 2018, and the Red Sox were playing the Dodgers in Game 3 of the World Series. I'm a Giants fan and don't live in Chicagee, but I was visiting my friend Sammy who lives in town and is a Red Sox fan from Worcester. We knew that Tripoli was a Boston bar. Go Sox. We arrive 30 minutes before first pitch and every seat inside the bar was already taken, so we position ourselves at one of the few remaining tables on the back patio. They have a projector TV set up and the sound on, so it's a great spot. We order beers and wings and settle in. There's a guy lingering near our table who maybe wants to sit down, so we invite him to our table. He responds, "Nah, I like to stand hee-ahh, I can watch the game and still keep an eye on the back gate, make sure no one sneaks in ov-ahh the fence." Turns out his name is Dino (from Framingham) and he's one of the owners. We start chatting with Dino who runs a few bars in Chicagee. He gives us the story of Tripoli. Turns out he had no intention of Tripoli becoming a Boston bar, but he put up one little 'Go Red Sox' sign in the window during their 2004 playoff run, and things just happened. Now it's THE place in Chicagee to watch the Boston teams. The game starts, and I remember the first batter (was Mookie leading off?) had like a ten pitch at bat. He K'd, but it was a long AB. The next guy had a long AB too. I said, "We're in for a six-hour game." Dino replied, "if this game hits 2am, I'll fire up the grill and make everyone burgers." The game rolls on, and we're loving the back patio. The crowd is into it, the game is tense, the beers are flowing, and so is the conversation. At some point, Sammy starts doing his bit where he pretends that the Dodgers closer Kenley Janson is really Kendall Jenner. Every time they cut to Janson, he goes "She's the worst pitcher on the team!" And I say something like, "Now Sam, you may feel her social media content is hit or miss, but you gotta admit her slider has some late break and she hides it pretty well." Dino is loving it. He's drinking Bud Lights and chiming in with the banter. Meanwhile, I haven't stopped reminding Dino of his 2am promise. Because this game is dragging on at a snail's pace. Around the 4th inning our friend Shane joins us and we switch from beers to highballs. Dino is still big fans of me and Sammy, but immediately takes a comedic dislike to Shane. Shane has a beard and a typical male haircut, but nevertheless Dino insists on calling him "Miss." Maybe it's a little derivative of our Janson/Jenner thing, but still, the absurdity of confusing Shane for a woman made me laugh. Eventually, Sammy and I start correcting Dino: "Uh, actually Dino it's 'Mrs.' not 'Miss.'" The game drags on and the drinks won't quit. Eventually Dino buys us a round of Jaeger shots. Then some Jameson. Then another round (but not for "the lady," because she's had enough). The Dodgers are up 1-0 heading into the 8th, but the Sox tie it up 1-1 when they get a run off Janson/Jenner, much to our delight. Eventually, the ninth inning rolls around and the game is still tied. We've already passed the 4-hour mark, but Dino is still more than two hours from his burger promise. At some point Shane heads home and we switch from highballs back to beers. Midnight strikes and the game is still tied 1-1in extra innings. Apparently, there's a curfew on the patio and Dino is forced to cut the projector and usher everyone inside. The bar is still nearly full, but enough people have rolled home by this point that everyone who was watching at the back patio is able to squeeze indoors. The Sox score a run in the 13th inning, but the Dodgers get one back, and it's 2-2 going to the 14th. It's still 2-2 going to the 15th. Then the 16th. Sure enough, we hit 2am: closing time for Tripoli. Who could've seen this coming? Dino and the staff need to give everyone the boot. "There's a 4am bar down the street!" they yell to the crowd as they usher us out. Sammy and I are heading to the door too (rules are rules, after all), when Dino grabs us. "You two ain't going any-wheeahh!" He pulls us back into the bar and sits us on a couple barstools. The crowd leaves. But Sammy and I do not. To his word, Dino fixes us up a couple of burgers. Then he sits at the bar with us, cracking Bud Lights as the staff closes up around us. Well, as all good things, the game comes to an end when the Dodgers push across a run in the bottom of the 18th. Poor Dino needs to work at his other bar at 7am. He's not even going to bed, he says. Sammy and I catch a cab back home and sleep through the hangover. What a gosh-darn night. Will never forget it. In conclusion: Dino, if you're there, can you please add Schlitz cocktails to the menu? It's a can of Schlitz served with whipped cream and a cherry on top. The perfect drink to celebrate a Sox win, or if you're just winding down a 9-hour ballgame with the boys. read more

I heard about the wings and ordered half BBQ and half Buffalo-they were quite large in size unfortunately they were a bit dry. I also ordered the bacon cheeseburger which was a generous portion. Thanks for admitting that you were breaking noise ordinances in writing though - definitely helpful for my complaints to the alderman and other officials. Went for the first time and great place to go on a Sunday! Very relaxed and good bar food.

There are so many things I like about this bar. First, big nod to them for being able to make a Rusty Nail a lot of bars in the area don't carry the ingredients, so yay. It's the kind of bar that you go to with a friend or date and chat all evening. The atmosphere is comfortable, and the drinks are above average. It's not your high end bar with fancy artwork or expensive floors. It's a little above your typical dive because it sells decent food, has a patio, tables, and a long bar for seating. My favorite things about this place is the friendly service, drink prices and nice wood floors. My least favorite thing are the parking in the area or lack thereof and the fact it's not a mingle spot. People stick to who they arrived with, so it's not the place you go to meet people. This is a chill spot where you go to drink and talk to a friend. The mixed drinks were great but the pre-mixed margaritas were $12 worth of slush without any decent alcohol. You'd do better ordering a mixed drink than the weak margaritas. I drank it and i thought maybe the alcohol is at the bottom. Well, I finished it and took a good look at the mixer and determined the amount of ice made it clear that the alcohol ratio was off. I wouldn't try those again, but the other drinks are great. Food is great -- a delicious buffalo grilled chicken sandwich with tater tots for less than $15 including tax in 2023? Served to you at your table by a human being? In Lincoln Park? Unthinkable! And yet this place comes through. Beer selection is good, but they get extra points for rotating drink specials and a $3 mystery shot which may or may not be cough syrup. Dimly lit Boston bar. I've been here a few times and it's never been really busy around 6pm. The waitstaff is attentive. I enjoyed the wings, and the mozzarella sticks were really good. The pizza of the month was a pizza with arugula, balsamic vinegar, and prosciutto. Thought the pizza lacked flavorful despite all of the flavorful ingredients. I would likely return because the appetizers were good and it's not too loud. The biggest con is that the food takes a really long time to come out; even the appetizers take a while. read more

Nic & Deano's Tripoli Tap is the quintessential neighborhood bar, which unfortunately seem to be dying off in Chicago. Thank goodness for Lincoln Park they are still open, especially during Covid. They've added a pizza oven to their patio and since we've tried the pizza we've been back weekly for it. It's thin with fat crispy round edges. You can pick from about six on the menu or make your own. One is enough for two to three people. Just keep in mind this is a no frills place, great cold beer, good attentive service and terrific pizza (and I hear the burgers are great too; everything looks good that I've seen). Our go to pizza standards are usually Craft Pizza, Piece and Paulie Gee's and Tripoli stands up to them in flavor and satisfaction for us. This is the perfect place to watch the pats but also good for non-game days to sit and chill too! Their online menu gave prices that were 1/2 the prices we were charged for both food and drink. When asking our sever he walked away and was extremely rude. Would not even listen to the end of our sentence. As a server, I would have understood if he seemed to care at all, but given the fact that we were charge 2x what we believed the total would be, to have someone walk away in the middle of us speaking to them was ridiculous. Aw, shit it was like being out in Boston - Red Sox fanimals EVERYWHERE. Order up some wings 'cuz they grill 'em and they are HUGE (almost full drumsticks). The waitstaff is pretty great especially when navigating the masses (except rumor has it one of the females behind the bar is a Yankees Fan - the shame!) Wings were great here; the closest I've had to my favorite wings back in DC, from Hard Times...at Tripoli, the grill job on the wings and the size of these bad boys brought it home for my wife and I, and an order of 10 as an app is plenty. The burger was weak (we were in to use up a burgers-and-beers Groupon); we asked for both to be cooked medium but these were as close to char as well done could ever be. But even if they weren't overcooked, the condiments and the bun were just average anyway. At least the burger is huge so you won't leave hungry if it's cooked right. Fries were great, so I filled up on my fries, then my wife's fries, then her beer (she's pregnant), so I was fine by the time I left. Our server was pretty funny and if you are a Boston sports fan, this is the place in Lincoln Park to go (right down to a group of four people that sat near us desperate to watch the recent Celtics/Pelicans game...you KNOW you are a hardcore fan when you are trying to watch Celts/Pellies this year!). read more

I kept changing my mind on the number of stars. A lot of people on yelp complained about the service. I was always helped when asked and never had to wait that long. The atmosphere was great. I was there for a Patriots game and was surrounded by fellow transplants/Massholes and that was a lot of fun. Now to the bad. The food. My diet coke tasted as if the fountain line was never cleaned. It tasted like a lot of different sodas mixed together. My chips and salsa tasted like salted cardboard and the salsa was tasteless except for the spicey level which was insanely high. Finally I was really looking forward to the sloppy Joe. That ended up being overcooked beef with spicey sauce. Trying to pay at the end was terrible. I told the bartender I was ready to pay so she brought my card to the machine. 20 minutes later other people around me are complaining they haven't gotten their cards back either. Finally they explain the machine wasn't working. I wish she would have told me earlier instead of wasting my time. I will not be returning. read more

Chicken Parmesan Sandwich is one order I had gotten. The sandwich was okay. I feel like it got over cooked & quite burned. I also got their Buffalo Hard Battered Chicken Tenders & those are fantastic. I prolly wouldn't get the chicken parm again. But the French fries are great.
