My daughter and I attended the Teddy Bear Tea at Alma this year with a couple friends. I'm not sure there's an event I've been more disappointed by in Chicago; it's definitely in the 5 most disappointing activities I've ever done in the time I've lived here. We ended up having to park in the Cubs lot on Grace; though they have their own parking lot, it was taken by Christkindlmarket attendees. We got here for our tea and were seated, and there was hardly anyone else in the restaurant at the time. The server came and explained the tea to us, and though it was a bit hard to hear because my friend's son was a bit upset I got the gist. At this tea, if we'd wanted them to bring sandwiches for the children, there would have been a charge for them (since they're both two they were free this time). I've been to other teas where they've included food for the children under age 3 free of charge but it's reasonable for other places not to do that. We chose not to pay for children-friendly sandwiches because they wouldn't have eaten them anyway. What made this experience so terrible was that we were totally ignored. The only time our server ever came to our table was to bring our tray of treats and when my friend flagged her down. Once she brought our tea and food, she never once checked on us. We ordered a few drinks for our kids because they really liked the strawberry lemonade, but again had to flag her down for that. Even for the check. And we'd have been ready to go at least 20 minutes earlier than we were able to leave but she just wasn't around and no one else even glanced our way (nor did we know exactly who the staff were). It was incredibly disappointing to see as we left that there was a table near the entrance where the children at the tea could do one or more crafts; we weren't told about this so our kids didn't get to participate in this aspect of the tea. Partway through, the host came by and gave our kids a little teddy bear. Not worth the $75/each (over age 3) that it cost for us to attend. There are other teas in the area so I won't be missing out by choosing not to attend this one again. read more

We booked the Love Alma Globe express for Valentines. Overall it was a cute experience but the place is over expensive. We liked the decor inside the globe, there was a Polaroid camera where you can click uptown 10 pictures, choose music of your choice. Got complementary glass of Sparkling Wine and some dessert. You can do valet parking for just $8. Food was average, hummus plate and artichoke dip were good but chicken skewers dish was a little dry. read more

LOVE their afternoon teas! The most cost effective afternoon tea in the city. Delicious, filling, and quick service. I've been to their spring and Haunted High Tea and both were a great time. I love the variety of bites you get. From savory sandwiches, to sweet desserts, and pastries, I always leave full with a happy stomach. Their teas are always at perfect temperature. Such a fun experience for the holidays. They really make this fun. We went for the Christmas brunch. There were a ton of comfortable nooks and tables to eat set up perfectly to be warm, cozy and really enjoy time with family and kids. There were fun hot chocolate stations, coffee bars, omelet bar, waffles, fresh fruit, basic breakfast items and a warm breakfast section. The brunch covers anything you could want. Had an exceptional experience with their afternoon tea service! We booked this ahead of time at an affordable $30 pp and felt it was well worth the money. Our server was super attentive, described all the teas and offerings and overall genuinely friendly. The service came with all you can consume teas (5 options), a tower full of popcorn, egg salad and cucumber sandwiches. The bottom of the tower was filled with amazing sweets - macarons, danishes and a pumpkin spice roll. All delicious. This lobby bar/restaurant is also a sight. We arrive ten minutes early just hoping to get a drink and wait for our table, to that not being the case. They wanted us to sit at the bar or a high top with a bunch of people. We didn't get our table until 40 mins and we had to flag a server down!!!. That the other part the servers and works aren't attentive at all. We order a bottle while we waited and they thought that was our whole dinner apparently because we also didn't get order until 30 to 40 mins in!!!! Went to spring tea here. It's inside hotel Zachary on the second floor. You can get to it by going inside hotel Zachary's main entrance on n Clark (facing wrigley) and then use the elevator to get to the second floor. Service was quick and our server was very kind. Open to giving recommendations on which tea to pick and let us know we could not only get our own individual pots of tea but that we could even ask for a refill of a different flavor (or the same) later and it was included! We picked the melon tea (red tea, caffeine free) and the pomegranate green tea and really liked them. Highly recommend both! We both got Prosecco and it was good quality. This is what you get at first, then you pick your tea, then come out the towers of finger foods! The food was delicious and I especially liked the macarons and the Nutella croissant. My only disappointment is the dried flower bouquet station seemed like it only had items that would be like...Michael's/Hobby Lobby discards. Nothing that was good for the center of the bouquet but are nice accompaniment to other flowers that I'll probably buy at a later date to spruce it up to use as the centerpiece for my table at home. All in all, I'd definitely recommend afternoon tea at Alma! It's a steal compared to other places in Chicago and it is great for either a cute date or a girls day! read more

They change over time, but I loved the Mallorca Melon. There's also a pool table and outdoor patio you can enjoy after the indoor tea service. Dress code said casual, but women wore beautiful daytime dresses and men wore button ups or polos. It was giving modern day Bridgerton. Was a little confused because booked the service from Instagram had thought we paid ahead of time. Beautiful hotel and lounge. Alma is a magnificent cocktail lounge situated on the second floor of Hotel Zachary. I would highly recommend taking a ride share vs. parking as Valet is a bit pricey. Plenty of seating and a well decorated lounge made for a wonderful atmosphere to grab cocktails before heading to a concert nearby. My friend and I ordered a few different drinks such as Moscow Mule, Mojito's, and Martini's. The drinks were good. We didn't order any food as we had ate prior to coming here. The waitstaff was - okay. Unfortunately, the young woman who took our drink order did just that. She never came back to check and see how we were doing and I ended up going up to the bar to order another drink for myself. For the majestic atmosphere and pricey drinks, I was expecting a lot better service but everyone has their bad days I guess. Overall, I would recommend at least checking this place out for the scenery. Davis, this intimate, stylish space is both refined and comfortable. This large space has a view of Wrigley Field, low lighting, and very tasteful interiors with sumptuous booths. It is essentially an upper middle class suburban interpretation of a high end bar. We ordered a manhattan and the seasonal gin and tonic. Both were well crafted. They do have a small menu of bites. Oh my goodness - what a stunning space! My parents stayed at hotel zachary over the weekend while in town. The location is perfect for visitors of people who live in wrigleyville/lakeview (or are planning to attend a Cub's game of course ). It's my parents favorite hotel in town, so we met them at the bar for a drink and appetizer before heading over to another restaurant for dinner. I can't get over the BEAUTY of this space. You can tell a lot of time and thought was put into the design which I really appreciate that. There is also a gorgeous view of Wrigley Stadium right across the street. You can't beat that. My parents and I shared a bottle of prosecco and my partner went for the margarita, which was really good! We also had a charcuterie board which was an assortment of meats, bread, and olives. Tasty, but I wish cheese was included! They also had a cheese board you could order, but each board is about $30, so keep in mind it's rather pricey for what you get. Another perk of the bar at Hotel Zachary (and the hotel in general) is that it's DOG FRIENDLY. Indoor swanky bars like this typically aren't dog friendly, but I love that Hotel Zachary is! Overall, super fun place to swing by every once in a while for a celebratory dinner or drinks. read more

To celebrate my birthday, and first evening out in two years since the pandemic started, my husband surprised me with a visit to The Bar at Hotel Zachary. The hostess gave us a seat near the window overlooking their outdoor patio area and Wrigley Field...a truly beautiful view. Our server was attentive and friendly. We had seen online that their old fashioned cocktail flight was half-price, but that information was not indicated once we were in the bar. We asked about it and they did honor the half-price. To go with our cocktail flights, we ordered the cheese board. The cheese board was okay...the homemade crackers and mostardo were tasty, but the cheese was rather flavorless. And for $19, we were expecting a bit more cheese. The old fashioned cocktail flights looked pretty, but were terrible. The classic old fashioned was okay, but we could tell that the bourbon used was not top shelf (if it was top-shelf, it was rather flavorless), The mezcal and Japanese inspired old fashioned cocktails were not to our liking. In both drinks, the ice was melted and they had an off flavor. Normally priced at $24 for each flight, they still were not worth it at half-price. We were surprised when our friendly server was quick to point out that he had made the cocktails. Where is a good bartender when you need one!? We have had cocktails at Modecai, a bar located in the lower level of the same building, and they were much better. The Cubs game had been canceled yesterday due to inclement weather, so the bar was not as busy as it probably would have been during a game day. The space is nice because of the view and patio, but to our eyes the entrance to the bar and the bar area did not look very special. And it was rather strange to see the hotel check-in counter tucked away in a far corner. I suppose if you're staying at the hotel, it's a nice place to spend an hour or two, but I would not go out of my way to return The Bar at Hotel Zachary again. read more

This seems like a really nice bar, especially perfect for Cubs fans. The bar has a really nice indoor and outdoor door patio season with a nice view of Wrigley. During the winter months, they have plastic globes for an intimate experience and I had a great experience. I wanted to enjoy cocktails on the Globe Takeover -Alexis Brown X Hennessy special menu and it did not disappoint! The brown butter old fashioned was my absolute favorite and I hope that Alexis Brown inspired cocktail stays on the menu:-) Although folks were celebrating St Patrick's day weekend, it was pretty empty in the bar which allowed my friend and I to enjoy our time without feeling rushed. I came here with a large group and had a really nice experience. We only did cocktails so I cannot comment on the food, but the drinks were delicious and creative (a little on the upscale side but it's a nice hotel bar so it was expected). We had a server who remembered our group from the day before and was very attentive, or you could run up to the bar and get served quickly there. It is absolutely gorgeous inside, especially the back corner room with a big fireplace. We sat in there for a couple hours and were treated to lovely views of the ice skating rink at wrigley all light up at night. This was not what I expected, very modern out side. The Bar in the lobby of the hotel is one of the most beautiful bars in Chicago . It's upscale but the couches and chairs are extremely comfortable. There is a patio over-looking Clark St.and WRIGLEY FIELD with a fireplace, heaters and comfy furniture. A great place for a cocktail without the Cubs crowds. This is such a great space. Upscale, comfy, spacious with great seating options. Nice bar and well made cocktails. But the kicker is that you can bring your dog! Who knew?? Typically when you find a spot like this dogs aren't allowed but they are here! Stella was greeted by the hostess and pretty much every server who walked by. They brought her a bowl of water as well. It's such a relaxing space and the openness allows you to stretch out and kick back. Feels good to sip and people watch with your pup. We are currently at The Hotel Zachary for a two night stay. We have been down to the bar both nights and can honestly say the service is 0 out of 10; truly atrocious. The drinks are fine but the bartenders are disinterested and extremely slow. We had to beg for glasses of water to accompany our cocktails and for our bill.
