Wow! Just wow! This cocktail lounge was on point and more. It just opened, and I was so excited to hear about it and get to go (location is great, esthetic is cocktail lounge with a tinge of speakeasy vibe). With an unassuming exterior (look for the globe lights with "Apothecary" on them). So, let's talk specifics: - plenty of seating considering it's being a cocktail lounge (went at 6pm on a Saturday though, so it might get busier/more crowded). - sat at bar - I think this is the best seat in the house - lighting and atmosphere is inviting and enhances the lounge vibe - bartenders were so nice and helped explain a lot of the cocktail mixes (very informative) and were really impressive in their mixology skills! - they do have some food, but I didn't order any. I plan to check out some flatbread and the charcuterie board next time. - they have an expansive list of cocktails (and some non-alcoholic options) - there are a bunch of single room bathrooms in the back (clean, gender neutral, and they have soap and hand lotion!) As for the main review of drinks, here we go! Alchemist's Whey: blue, fun wavy ice cube, lemon peel shaped in a tiny star Ingredients: Norden aquavit, arak, crème de mentie, basil, cucumber, lemon, pineapple, Greek yogurt, blue spirulina Verdict: delightful! Could drink these all night long. OI LINDO: frothy, orange/yellow, in martini-like glass Ingredients: Aged cachaca, oloroso (sp?), soursop tea, chinola passionfruit, lime, falernum, egg white, frozen orange Verdict: had a bit of an extra kick and frothy texture makes this slightly sweet and dash of a martini-ish taste, highly recommend Great place and can't wait to go back!

Felt like I was walking into a West loop lobby bar. Very upscale and fancy. They had a dj and it was slammed but we scored a table with no reservation. The drinks are very inventive and you'll most likely need help understanding the ingredients and flavor profiles. They have a small food menu but I found it to be a bit pricey. We stuck to drinks and went down the block for dinner.

Great space, great drink. Friendly staff. It was helpful to be walked through the menu and what makes them different. I do wish there was a curtain or something to visually block the kitchen, there's a clear view of it when you walk in and the light is so bright compared to the rest of the space

This is our new favorite cocktail spot! Such a great vibe from the moment we stepped through the door. It's sophisticated yet still fun, so refreshing! You're also able to easily hear the people you're with so that's a plus. Eric's hospitality is top notch. Will be back!!!

This place is such a gem From a lovely gentleman who seemed to be the manager/host taking the time to explain the menu to us to the amazing waitress (blonde hair with long earrings), everything was so perfect. The music is at perfect volume and was carefully selected. The dessert was delicious and so were the cocktails. It's honestly a perfect date spot when you want to get away from the trashy rowdiness down the street (there's a time and place for that of course hehe). Love this place - come support them immediately!

The bartenders are always very friendly and check in often which is always appreciated. You're always immediately given little pretzels to snack on which I love as a unique touch. This time we both chose a more standard cocktail, but they also always have very unique and delicious seasonal cocktails which are always amazing! I would definitely recommend Elixir to anyone looking for a spot to grab a quick and delicious cocktail!

It was the right move because it had the kind of chill vibe we were seeking after a long flight from SFO. Fortunately there were two seats at the bar with our names on them. Figuratively speaking. They had quite a signature cocktail list on hand, and we felt it was our obligation to try as many as we could. At least that was what we said to ourselves as the evening wore on. Each cocktail was $14. We started with a couple of familiar libations. Jamie ordered the Mint Julep, a delightfully Deep South mix of bourbon, simple syrup, and fresh mint (photo: https://yelp.to/u-td8LdPLj). I went further south with the Pineapple Margarita which was emboldened by a tropically potent mix of pineapple infused tequila, lime juice, and agave (photo: https://yelp.to/V-Sf6Q_2qK). We got a bit bolder with our second round and found mixed results. Jamie had the Not Your Mom's Daiquiri which amped up the margarita by blending pineapple-infused tequila with Bacardi 8-year rum. Along with fresh lime and simple syrup, this one definitely had more of a kick (photo: https://yelp.to/1ZijDf6wMV). However, my order, the Pontiac Pony, was a spicy miss for me. It was a rather oddball mix of apple-cinnamon infused vodka, pear liqueur, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and ginger beer (photo: https://yelp.to/5dQoFdzG98). There was just a harshness that didn't sit well on my tongue. Oh well, the mellow vibe was cool. The table was beautifully set with red cloth napkins and small lanterns adding to the ambiance of the place. He welcomed adding our own decorations- paper placemats and a balloon bouquet. The area was set apart from the main dining area which made the experience more intimate. The food was served family style on platters, attractively presented and absolutely delicious! The individual printed menus at each setting described the wine choices, the first course Meze, the Main course choices , and 2 Desserts. Each course was tastier than the next! We chose: 1st course 2 platters of Mixed Meze, homemade bread, 2 Mushroom Tava, and 2 Calamari. 2nd course: 3 platters of "Mixed Plate for two" had Chicken kebab, Beef delight, Lamb Delight, Lamb Chops, Haydara, Ezme, Fries, and Rice. 2 Orange Salmon platters and Green Olive Salad. 3rd course: Baklava and Coconut Cake. The portions were more than enough for the 10 guests In order to try almost every food choice. Our server, Maine, timed each course very well. He also cleared European-style waiting until everyone was done eating. A pleasurable change as we weren't rushed! The water glasses and wine glasses were consistently filled. Though we had dined at Avaspi for both Happy Hour and Dinner, all 8 guests expressed how enjoyable the cuisine, wine selection, service and ambiance was throughout the evending. We all plan to return!

There was some major drinking event going on and while the streets were wild, Mordecai did not participate. We were seated promptly with reservation and greeted by Avery who was sweet, kind and helpful with getting us familiar with the menu. We ordered cocktails which both came to us balanced and tasty, I can always appreciate when there is craft ice for an old fashioned! The Arancini was so tasty, very happy they did not overdue the Saffron We ordered the Mordecai and the deluxe burger which both came out delicious and finished every bite. It's also mentionable that some rowdy types tried to come in and the hostess did be sure to verify that behavior did not disrupt their patrons which we were very happy to see. Thank you for caring about the experience of everyone! Overall a great spot and we will return in the future!

AMAZING FOOD DEAD CENTER OF EVERYTHING!…read more I was visiting the boys town area with a group of 10 people and looking for a trendy, cute, restaurant with a promising menu - thank god we found Mordecai! The restaurant itself is cozy and trendy and the service was excellent despite our large group. I had the half dozen oysters and the beef tare tare to start. Both were amazing, but the real star of the dinner was the steak. You guys, the steak was cooked perfectly and also was packed with flavor. It came with a smear of this unctuous, umami sauce and hints of garlic. If I could, I would eat this everyday. Our server was really attentive. Her pacing was perfect and she was very personable. Again, she did an amazing job considering the size of our party and how often we were ordering cocktails. The location was also great! At first I was a bit weary about how far away from Boystown it was, but it was a nice 10 minute walk back. It gave us time to digest our food. Overall, an amazing experience. Will definitely go there every time in Chicago.

This venue was decorated to the max for the upcoming Christmas holidays. Every nook and cranny has Christmas all over it. Even though turkey day hasn't happened, we were into it. I only ended up getting one cocktail because by the time they got around to the asking again, I was ready to go. For drink I order the Prixkly B*tch which was a play on a prickly pear margaritas. It was good and well balanced. For food, I ordered the Spinach Dip with was served pipping hot with crusty toasted bread. It was really delicious. I wished I grabbed the meatballs too but we had dinner plans. All in all, cute venue and would return. Scored a super cute selfie with my love and we had a good time. An added benefit is that Wrigleyville Christmas Market is up and popping across the street. Cool event but be prepared for parking as it is crowded over here while the Christmas events are going on in this area.
