What is beach pizza? Amazing to me, but I was told divisive opinions abound. You walk up, not to a window, but to the entire establishment. It's right next to an amazing arcade, and it would still be hot if you wanted to eat it on the beach. I was too full to eat any (lobster roll at Brown's), but we got slices to go. Not just the worst pizza I've ever had but possibly top 10 worst things to ever enter my face hole. The pizza base. Like a dry cracker. The sauce. It's just red sugar paste. No tomatoes were harmed in the making of this pizza. Cheese? It looked to be about four or five singular shreds of mozzarella. Doesn't look like too much when you past by this place, but it's a must visit! There's quite a few within a few mile radius so it's easy to spot. I ordered the cheese slice which was pipping hot and I had easy access to the paper, salt, garlic powder and red crushed pepper to add to my pizza. The sauce was sweet, not too oily or mushy! This is a staple of Salisbury Beach for myself and my family. It's not my favorite pizza on earth but it's perfect in this setting where I wouldn't get any other pizza in the area! Pizza is highly subjective.....I know that. This just wasn't for us. The side crust is lovely, though the bottom is rather cardboard like. The sauce is far too sweet for our tastes. We ordered the double cheese, and the photo is that depicted. Essentially a slice of cheese melted on top, which slides off in the first few bites leaving you with bread and sugary sauce. F* this place !!! I spoke to the store manager 6 weeks before my wedding. I asked if they could have 20 trays ready for pick up at 8pm on a Saturday night six weeks in advance and was told "no problem, just call us two hrs before you want them to remind us". I then called two weeks before the wedding and spoke to the same manager and was told "no problem, we make trays all day long". I then called two days before my wedding and they laughed because I kept checking on them and was once again told "no problem". So now it's my wedding night, I called at 6pm as requested and was told I have to pick up half my order at the Salisbury store and the other half in Seabrook !!! Not once was I told this during the three previous calls !!! So my buddy heads to the Salisbury store just after 8 (the agreed upon pickup time) and was told it would be at least another 45 minutes !!! Needless to say I got half of my order but only from the Seabrook store !!! So please, go to any other Tripoli location other than Salisbury or go to Christy's !!! F* those guys !!! read more

The cannoli is an A++. Really good. Not too sweet. You can get it with or without chocolate chips (I do without). Tastes like my great aunt's. The pizza is...confusing. The sauce is just so sweet. It's so, so sweet. And the crust has a pastry flakiness to it, so there's got to be lard or shortening in there. It's cut in a square. I liked it, but I think it's objectively bad pizza. The sauce is sweet and the cheese delicious but you really should add the provolone. I got the meat pie too but it was overkill and I think I need to go back and just get that to truly appreciate it. My assumption is that this is shore classic, especially with a lot of local fans. We went here for pizza after seeing good reviews on Yelp. There is another pizza joint two stores down, but there was only a line at Tripoli Pizza. We really weren't expecting much and for it to be a little different from what we would consider to be a typical pizza. I think we were all pleasantly surprised. They sauce is pretty sweet and they use provolone cheese which I think yields a unique tasting pizza. We got mushrooms and pineapple as additional toppings and covered the entire thing in garlic powder because why not? I probably wouldn't opt to get mushrooms again because they were just canned mushrooms. Shame on me for straying from the norm and other recommendations. For those new to the area this square thin flaky delight is known as beach pizza. As a kid it was great walking around the Salisbury center grabbing German fries and Tripoli pizza with my family. It's a stones throw from the beach so grab a slice or a box and go stand on the sand and enjoy the waves. WARNING: if you don't like sweet sauce this is not for you! Tripoli pizza is a New England institution with several locations throughout Massachusetts. Im obviously bias having such fond memories of the Salisbury location, but having been to all the other locations I can tell you that there is no wrong answer. This pizza isn't rocket science. It's mid to thin sized crust with sweet sauce so delicious it will give a sweet sauce lover blasphemous thoughts. You can get it with a couple select toppings like provolone or pepperoni. I have tried it with pepperoni and it's delightful and surprisingly without much grease. My heart is with the provolone though, the salty cheese balances the sweet sauce so perfectly there is no substitute. If you haven't had it do it and high five yourself after. read more

BEACH PIZZA! Forget deep dish or NY style pizza! The best is beach pizza. There is the ever raging debate: Tripoli's or Christie's. Well,I believe it all depends on what you were first introduced to. There is no middle ground. You chose either one or the other. This is the same loyalty that you see with chosing either Browns or Markeys in Seabrook for lobsters. Since I grew up in Lawrence and ate this stuff as a kid I am compelled to chose Tripoli's. I maybe have eaten one slice of Christie's pizza in my life. It was good but ...when it is time to pick a line to order a Box of 8 I will ALWAYS be in the Tripoli's line. Tripoli's is the best pizza on the planet! I love it! The thin crispy crust. The sweet, simple tomato sauce and the right balance of cheese. The pizza is light and flavorful. My family likes the middle slices while I love the corners. The crust is delicious. The extra slice of provolone melted on top makes the pizza even better. It is great comfort food. My wife claims that you MUST eat beach pizza with grape soda. I am not sure why she has this rule but...I have adopted the ritual and it is delicious. I have devoured slices at all three of their locations. I like that you can get bread and pastries at the Seabrook location. Walking into the Lawrence store is like walking into a time machine for me. I still get the lemon filled cupcakes just as I did as a kid. The quality is equal in all stores but to just get pizza the Salisbury Beach location is the best! I can skip across the street while waiting for my order to take a look at the waves crashing on the beach. The sounds of the arcade enhance the experience. It brings back lots of great memories of Salisbury Beach in it's heyday. If you haven't had Beach Pizza give Tripoli's a try. They are open year round. read more

Let me try to explain.....BEACH PIZZA.... Those that are not from around here or have never been here cannot understand.....there is nothing like it in any other state, or even any other area of Mass or NH! Beach pizza is made in a big rectangle, kinda of like Sicilian, but only as far as the shape. Its thin in the middle (crispy) and the edges have a nice crust. It is usually only sauced, with a slight sprinkle of cheese. The way you order it is with extra cheese, which is a slice of provolone they throw on b4 heating in the oven. They also usually offer pepperoni, and that's about it. But trust me, the nice melty provolone will do the trick nicely! OMG my mouth is watering.....I do not live in state anymore and I miss the hell out of this type. Every time I am forced to come visit family though, we make a trip down to the beach for a huge box! If i am down here getting some Tripoli, I will usually run next door for some Christy's as well. and do my own taste test to see which i still prefer! If you live or visit near here, you have got to try it! BUT do not expect any pizza sensation like you have ever had. Have an open mind and a hungry tummy and you will be sooo happy! ps. Tripoli's is one of those culinary experiences that if you grew up with them you'll love them. If you didn't, you may or may not like them. The pizza here is unique. Although it looks like Sicilian thick crust it's thinner than you'd imagine. The sauce is sweeter than normal pizza sauce; but, the flavor just works and if you grew up eating this pizza you'll return as often as you can in order to capture the memories of enjoying it as a child. The Salisbury location is a tiny box of a place and it has been around for decades. If you visit their Flagship location in Lawrence with the bakery next door you can see the pizza makers in action. They also have meat and spinach pie. The meat pie (schiacciata to us Italians) is delicious and is becoming increasingly difficult to find in other pizza shops. If you are feeling in a crazy mood you can order a slice of pizza with provolone or American cheese. I know, the American cheese addition is ghastly but a lot of people like it. The crust has an interesting flavor and texture; and, again you'll not find this taste anywhere else. I rate Tripoli's five stars (something I rarely do) in part because of their consistent quality and taste; in part because of the nostalgia; and, because they are a Merrimac Valley institution. In the times where pizza chains are adding all sorts of dreadful and unnecessary ingredients to their pies, Tripoli's almost stands alone in their ability to keeps things the way they should be: plain and simple. read more
