They have the MOST gorgeous Easter display of any store, along with a sweet selection of merchandise! I enjoy just walking around this store and seeing what unique items they have for your home. Sure wish the people were friendlier and cared more about helping the customer. Oh well that's kind of the way the world is these days! I bought a good amount of merchandise but something i took home did not work and had to return it. This return didn't work in my favor, turns out the customer is not as important as that extra dollar even if you are the one inconvenienced. That being said I still enjoy walking around the inside of this store.

I brought in a small chunk of the thickness I needed to avoid confusion knowing that I would need to drive around to the lumber yard to have it loaded. The Lumberyard loaded up a sheet that was obviously the wrong size--too thin. I tried to be specific about the size I need at the register but a mistake was made. That's okay. I left the lumber yard, went back inside to "return" the plywood and pay the difference for the size I had asked for. Jessie, the manager was extremely helpful though the whole visit. He's a good man. Then I drove back into the lumber yard and had the new sheet loaded. It wasn't till I got home that I realized it was warped badly. I went back to the store and spoke with Jessie--He told me they would make it right and asked me to drive back around to exchange it. I pulled into the lumberyard and was approached by a different fork lift man. I explained that the sheet was warped and I wanted a flat one. He questioned whether I had bought the sheet at McCoys. Then he scolded me saying, "Why did you take it?!" Then he drove off. Life is too short for this kind of nonsense. I'm not going back. From now on I'm a Home Depot man.

They had a pretty decent stock as elsewhere has been selling rapidly. There's a lot going on at Callahan's as that place is huge. The only issue I had while I was there was there was only one lady working the cash register and there was a good 5+ of us waiting in line at a certain point, and it was moving at a snail's pace. I like coming here because it's got that old school general store feel. You know, what it must have been like back in the days of cowboys, dirt roads, and small, one-horse towns. They have just about everything from western clothing to hay, hammers, seeds, household stuff, and more. I had been on the search for a specific style of plant pot for an urban garden project I was working on. I searched high & low looking for what I wanted and couldn't find it. That is, until I tried Callahan's. I went in on a whim, not really looking for said pot, but looking around in general. And to my surprise, there it was! The piece I had been looking for. The fluorescent store lighting reflected around it like a glorious and spectacular display, calling my name. "Buy me, Karla, buy me"...and that I did. Obviously, I left happy. All in all, it's a cool place to check out and to find things you need and things you never knew you needed. Service is pretty great too. Everyone is super friendly.

Surprise I know, but I really didn't want to go 30 minutes when this is so close. Arrived and searched out to find the owner/cashier. Hardened, but funny guy. Liked him and super efficient. Outside the loading guy was funny and helpful even though his co worker left him with a chore. But the product. That was mighty weak. His co worker had dug thru the lumber to find some good lumber the size the customer asked and the carnage was everywhere. We just went to the stack that was the "freshest" they had. I wasn't picky. I just needed some studs cause I ran out. Wow! Good thing I didn't care. Provably 50 cents+ more per bird and maybe 25% quality(if you ever collected coins and played with grading them, you'll get the "quality drives price" equation). I don't think I'll do that again unless I'm even more desperate. Really want to give them my business and would have no problems buying other stuff. I'm just bummed I won't get lumber at the local lumber spot.

When I found the items I needed I headed to to register, where I found one female cashier behind a register with a customer and their was obviously a problem with his transaction. There was also a tall male employee standing behind this cashier. There was a "REGISTER CLOSED" sign behind this customer's merchandise, so I went to the next register but there was no cashier there. I stood there for several minutes thinking maybe the male employee would step over and check us out. He looked at me several times as did the female cashier but NEITHER acknowledged our presence, or told us someone would be with us momentarily. Finally the male employee SLOWLY sauntered off to the clothes section. We waited several more minutes with no one even acting like we existed, then finally placed our merchandise on the counter and left. The female cashier saw this and NEVER SAID A WORD to us. There were other employees in the store as I had heard them speaking loudly in the back room. It's a sad state of affairs when an employee can't even take the time to acknowledge a customer and tell them that help would be along momentarily. From now on I will travel to the Blanco store where the employees have been trained properly.
