I purchased a 2012 Audi A6 3.0T with 105,222 miles on it. I live in Henrico VA. I spoke to Justin on the phone and among other questions I asked specifically about any fluid leakage and rust on the car. Justin assured me that his shop put each car though a 160-point inspection before they are listed for sale. "We take great pride in our family owned business and great pride in the vehicles we sell because they are top quality and we try to have one owner vehicles on our lot." Justin was very disarming and made me feel like I could trust him. Within the first ¼ mile of the test drive the hood open warning light came on. I informed him of the issue, his mechanic made an adjustment, and after some back and forth, Justin agreed to take off the cost of the part in case the issue returned and I had to replace it. I asked again before we began paperwork about fluid leakage or rust, and he once again informed me of his company's policy of vehicle inspection and also gave me the family business line again. I leave the lot, put gas in the car, stop for lunch with my two boys (all in Norfolk), and headed down I-64 back home. Remember, I left the lot with 105,222 on the car. Not 20 miles later, the oil warning light came on and told me to add a quart. I called Justin and asked him about it and he very quickly and with little compassion said it may be the sensor (these vehicles do not have dip sticks). "They tend to go bad on high mileage cars." So I stopped, added half a quart of oil, and the light went off. I got home, threw cardboard under the car to see if there was a leak, and the next morning... oil. The following day I got the car in the garage, looked underneath, and the whole oil cooler, oil pan, surrounding frame, and transmission head were caked with old oil. Also, the sub frame was covered in rust. Now I am not a certified mechanic, but I've been working on cars my whole life and I can say with 100% certainty, any novice mechanic, let alone, as Justin called them the, "highly knowledgeable guys", in Trimax Auto's shop, would have clearly seen that oil leak. They sold me the car anyway and Justin flat out lied about it. When I confronted him with the issue and asked him how they could have missed something so obvious he told me, "Well Mr. Paul, I don't personally inspect the cars", as if that absolves him of selling an unsuspecting stranger a vehicle not in the condition he represented it to be in. He told me I could bring the car back, have his shop guys look at it, and they might, emphasis on might, do a repair and split the cost with me. I decided to take the car in locally to have the leak diagnosed and sure enough the leak was coming from the oil cooler and the mechanic made a point to show me the multiple parts of the frame/sub frame which were covered with rust. I contacted an attorney and was told because I did not have a witness when I asked about leaks or rust it would become a, "he said she said", situation which would severely weaken my position in court. So, I was stuck. I sent Justin the invoice from the shop and he agreed to pay half for the diagnostic and half for the part. $111. Icing on the cake, when I got the plates in and went to remove the temporary tags, I discovered Justin used the wrong size bolts (both width and length) to attach the tag. Not only did he break the license plate bracket ($130 OEM replacement) but he drove the bottom bolt so deep he chipped the paint through to the panel. You would be hard pressed to find a place less caring about you or your possible future headaches once they get you to sign paperwork. I implore you to take the car to another mechanic shop and have them inspect the vehicle. Selling cars with no mechanical issues is easy, results in a happy customer, and a 5 star review. Lying to your customers when you know the car is broken and will need repairs within miles of it leaving the lot is also easy for people like Justin and the owner of Trimax Auto. Beware. read more

Hello there everyone, I figured i should leave a review for this business. They were helpful. I can't stand pushy Salesmen and they are NOT pushy at all. They are proud of their inventory and they are very relaxed. Been to enough dealerships thru out my life. This business's inventory was very selective. I was only interested in a certain vehicle although the Mercedes in their showroom was very hard to resist... Overall i was very pleased with the condition of the Lexus i was interested in. Purchased vehicle on 10/5/2020. Vehicle was a 2015 Ford Transit Connect. Worked with Justin. Purchase was for an another fleet van to perform pest control work. Vehicle was paid in full plus a 3% fee for credit card use. No issues for the first 3 weeks. Employee stated he noticed the van shifting hard, or not what he would normally expect. Made an appointment for service. Before appointment for service could be completed the vehicle would not start. An error code appeared on the instrument cluster. This was the week of November 2nd. The van was towed to a local shop that our business uses. They informed me a few days later that we had a significant transmission issue and need specialty service at a transmission shop. That diagnostic fee was $179. The van was then towed to a local transmission shop trusted by our business (Car Life). The transmission expert advised the transmission was completely fried. The oil was burnt and had never been serviced in his opinion. It was going to require a complete rebuild and take several replacement parts to make operational again. The work was authorized and cost $4,158 to fix. Due to vehicle down time and working needing to be completed for the business the van was fixed and is now back in service. Juston was contacted on 11/18/2020. He stated he would look into the deal and get back to me. That never happened. Called Friday 11/20/2020 with no answer. Called again today 11/23/2020, spoke with Justin who stated there was nothing he could do. We where passed the 30 day or 1,000 mile warranty period. The vehicle had put 3,900 miles on it since purchase. In my opinion should not have affected the transmissions life. The vehicle had a carfax history with it, indicating several service intervals. That lead me to believe the car had been taken care of, not the case. Since the sale the vehicle has had multiple issues, including a TPMS sensor go bad, drivers side door ajar sensor and rear door ajar sensor failure. Trimax auto should do a better job at inspection or basic servicing of vehicles before they are sold. This one clearly had not been touched by a service technician in years. read more

This is a very good small used car dealership. Their cars have great mileage and they have a nice variety. None of the cars appear to be salvaged or have bad histories. The sales team is friendly and honest. The prices aren't overly inflated. I was in the market for a SUV. After spending time test driving a car I. Chesapeake, VA, I felt defeated. The car salesman was pushy and rude although I held a check in my hand ready to buy. So I left. That review will be posted shortly... Anyway, on our way back from Chesapeake to Elizabeth City, I was on CarGurus.com and found an SUV at Trimax. We made a U-turn and headed there. I arrived on the lot and saw the car and was able to open the doors and look inside without being approached by a pushy salesman. After I looked around at the car a bit, I went inside and was immediately handed the keys and told to turn it on and get comfy with it. I liked that approach! It put me in control of my car buying experience and made me feel like I wasn't going to be coerced into buying. I went on a test drive and was told to take it out for about 40 miles to get a good experience. That was an exceptional gesture! But I didn't take it up because of traffic. Instead, I rode around for about 15-minutes and came back. I wanted the car. Instead of being pushed into sitting at the sales table, Mel, the owner of the dealer room me around to other SUVs to make sure I was confident in my purchase. Mel is a great salesman. He listens. He laughs. He forewarns. He's easy-going. It made me much more comfortable with giving him my money. Although I paid sticker price for the car, he did waive some of the fees and after a few jokes, gave me a sizable amount of premium gas (although I would've preferred a FULL tank). Otherwise, it was a great small used car dealership with excellent customer service and integrity. Hope they stick around for a while. I might be back to shop for a car for my teenager. read more

Trimax auto sold me a bmw on 7/1/17, it had an illegal current inspection sticker on it cuz the steel showed through the tire and it had a bubble in it and alignment pulled severely to the right. They shorted me car mats on a BMW n won't give me any $160 item. Mel told me not to drive car much because tire is severely defective. So I used car 8 times and radiator hose exploded and damaged alternator. All together I was stranded for 6 hours till someone noticed I was missing. My phone wasn't with me. Mel had me lie on my loan app with navy federal to get car approved. What a mistake. After driving 8 times it's been in shop since, 9 days to fix a 3 hr alternator job per the mechanic. They tell me everyday it's gonna be ready but it's not. The mechanic only shows up a couple days a week. Mel has had my car for 2 weeks of my warranty period purposefully to run it out because he knows there's more wrong with the car and he can't afford to fix it and he's the dealer. I have asked for owners name and phone number and they refused to give it to me. When I call they don't answer or hang up on me. I have the right to call as many times as necessary to find out why they still have my car. I've reported them everywhere I possibly can n they are under investigation. Please do not use this dealership. They are dishonest about shape car is in, they lie to keep you fm getting upset. They don't work with you. I have found other posts by people who have been through the same thing with them. Also they didn't not use an ASE certified to work on high end cars they sell, they told me they just made do.
