BUYER BEWARE! My son is military and was stationed here, and this company took advantage of him. Less than two weeks after buying the car, the check engine light came on, the gas gauge stopped working, and the car won't start consistently--even with a new battery. We contacted several people, and once the car was paid for, the kindness disappeared. Basically, tough luck And Hanged up on him Denzel was his salesman. They were nice when they wanted the sale, but completely different afterward. I don't want another military kid getting treated this way. Do NOT buy from this shady Dealership. 518 Auto read more

I want to start by saying that we have been dealing with 518 Auto for years, and it has always been our go-to place since they first opened. We have typically worked directly with Kyle, the owner, especially because our children drive these vehicles and he truly values safety. This time, however, we worked with Mark. Things started off well. I made it clear that the vehicle was for my son, and initially, Mark seemed attentive. He even asked for a Yelp review while I was signing the paperwork, but I prefer to wait until the entire process is completed before leaving a review. Unfortunately, after the paperwork was signed, the experience went downhill. The vehicle needed servicing because the battery would not start. Mark informed my son that a part had to be ordered and that the car would be ready on Monday or Tuesday. Monday passed, and on Tuesday (1/13/26), Mark texted my son stating the vehicle would be ready at 1:00 PM. When my son and husband arrived on Tuesday, things became frustrating. They were told that the temporary tags Ms. Hall had prepared were misplaced. My husband also noticed that Mark seemed more focused on selling cars to other customers rather than assisting the customer who was standing right in front of him. It felt as though my son and his vehicle were no longer a priority since the paperwork was signed. When the car was finally started, it became clear that there was no gas in the vehicle. Mark continued running the car despite this and stated he was too busy to get gas, yet the car could not be moved off the lot. The car eventually ran out of gas right there. Mark then said he would send someone to get gas. After waiting for some time, someone arrived with a gas can, filled the vehicle, and Mark said everything was fine. However, once my husband got into the car to finally leave, he realized that the windows and radio were not working. Because of this, we were unable to even check the heating and cooling to see how it worked. My husband went back inside to inform Mark, but instead of addressing the issue, Mark told him hold on, made a phone call, spoke briefly to others, stated he was leaving, and walked out leaving my husband standing in the parking lot without any explanation. Before my husband could become more upset, AJ stepped in thankfully. I want to sincerely thank AJ, Alex, Ms. Hall, and Scott for stepping up and helping us through this situation. Their efforts did not go unnoticed. They worked together as a team to help resolve the issue. While we are still waiting for the vehicle to be fully serviced, AJ and Scott went above and beyond by providing us with a loaner car in the meantime. Because of them, our confidence in 518 Auto has not been completely lost, and we truly appreciate their professionalism and support. read more

One star because I can't rate it zero stars. I purchased a 2005 Prius a week ago do $4,000 + $1,000 in fees (including a $999 processing fee) and after driving it for a few days: - I had to oil the car - The check engine light and Prius triangle light (Master Warning Light) came on, which indicates a serious issue needing immediate attention I took it to a mechanic to read the codes, and he said the dealer probably wiped the warning lights before selling it (codes: p0a1b and p0420). Then I took it to the Toyota dealership for diagnostics ($208), and the initial repairs will total $4,500 -- and then they need to check out the hybrid system after! The costs for repair are way more than the cost of the car! read more

I bought a used car from this dealership and had a very disappointing experience. The salesperson (Mark) did not disclose several important issues with the vehicle before the purchase. At the time of sale, I was not informed about these defects at all. After buying the car, I discovered problems that should have been disclosed earlier. When I went back to the dealership, I was told that these issues were not their responsibility. Based on my experience, I recommend that anyone considering buying from this dealership be extremely careful, ask detailed questions, and have the vehicle fully inspected before purchasing. Unfortunately, I regret this purchase and would not buy from this dealership again. Because of this experience, I decided to pursue formal consumer complaint options and would advise others to be very cautious. read more

BUYER BEWARE - 518 Auto Sales (Norfolk, VA) On October 29th, I purchased a used vehicle from 518 Auto Sales in Norfolk. I made it clear that I was buying this car so our youth football team could safely travel to games and events. Even knowing this, the dealership showed no compassion or concern for what they were selling. The same day I drove it off the lot, I didn't even make it past the gas station before the car started having serious issues. The dealership agreed to take the vehicle back and make repairs. After 50 days, I finally received the car back on December 18th. The very next day (December 19th), I had it inspected by an independent mechanic -- and the results were shocking. The vehicle has: * A disabled/removed check engine light * 8 active engine fault codes * Multiple serious mechanical issues * A car that should never have passed inspection When the mechanic attempted to manually trigger the check engine light, it would not come on, confirming that it had been intentionally disabled. Even worse, the Carfax shows repairs that were supposedly performed by the dealership -- but they were never actually completed. Despite all of this, the dealership is now hiding behind "sold as-is" and claiming I must "prove" they knew about the problems -- even though the car was in their possession for 50 days and the warning system was clearly tampered with. I am also active-duty military, and I will be reporting this dealership so they can be blacklisted from military sales programs and so other service members do not lose their hard-earned money to this kind of business. This has been an absolute nightmare. PLEASE do not spend your hard-earned money at this dealership. They do not stand behind their vehicles or their customers -- even when it involves kids' safety and military families. read more

I drove an hour to see a prius they had agreed to hold for me. When I got there they had sold it.

as of a year later from purchasing a vehicle from this lot , we we're faced with massive engine problems that I feel like we're covered up by "small fixes " . there is no way there wasn't an engine light on before we bought it . less than 2 months of having the vehicle we were hit with a failing motor. we paid 12,000 dollars to barely drive a car for year. when I found out the problems they barely helped me or gave me advice especially after bought their extended warranty told me I bought it "as is" . honestly if you get a car from here have. a mechanic thoroughly look it over . also they try to sell cars that haven't even been though inspection . be careful or you'll be waiting for them to Go through inspection and waits weeks . 12k down the drain . read more

Update: My car has now resulted in repair costs of thousands of dollars and more to come. The transmission gave out and needed to be replaced. That alone was over $3k to replace. Now the ignition isn't working properly; The key gets stuck and I have to pop open the board under the shift to manually make the car park. The belt by the engine now screeches and the engine light is lit up on the dash board. I love my car and I'm taking care of her. 518 Auto Sales - September 28th, 2024 (1st day with vehicle). Major problem occurred October 21st, 2025 - Used Car Dealers Near Me - Norfolk, Virginia

As my daughter and I were on the hunt for a used vehicle for her, we stopped by 518 Auto Sales and was quickly greeted by one of their associates. He sat us down at a computer and asked us what we were looking for in a vehicle and our budget so we can view their inventory. He was very attentive and even told us which vehicles to stay away from which I thoroughly appreciated. After he wrote down a few cars for us to view from their inventory, we were escorted out by the sales associate who was very friendly and helpful. We were able to freely test drive the cars which I liked. My daughter was fascinated in a Jeep that was on the lot but after test driving it, we noticed a weird jerking feeling in how it drove and it seemed to have some mechanical issues. The sales associate did point out some other cars for us to look at that were within our price range but unfortunately, she didn't see any that caught her eye. I did like that they had a large variety of used cars for sale and the associates were very knowledgeable but from the issue with the Jeep and the other reviews of this business, I probably won't return back to this place or recommend it. read more

We went here many years ago hoping it was still decent because they list a lot online. It was not.... We did not check recent reviews. Live and learn. They live up to all the old stereotypes of used car dealers. Fake friendly until you try to walk away or they get that $$ in their hands. 0 Stars. Regret not reading reviews first, been in talks of a car for over a week, I don't live locally but have a friend who does, after setting up a meeting hours prior, he drove half an hour to go look at the car just to be told he's not allowed to because a "deposit was JUST made on it" (been on the lot 3 years, zero warning or notice of this deposit) at an undisclosed time today, when he tried to leave, the rep stopped him and tried to get me (on the phone) to outbid the "Deposit" of an undisclosed amount on the car I already said I was willing to put 85% down on same day after inspection. If the deposit was even real, simply a disingenuous slimy dealer, if it's fake, straight up illegal. After reading the reviews, if they decide to change their mind and actually honor their word, It's going under the condition he can use an OBD scanner. Owner seems to simply apologize for the rampant issues at his lot rather than actually try and solve any issues. read more

I bought my first car here and I took my stepdad who knows a lot about cars. He got underneath the car in the cold wet rain, and he took his flashlight look in the engine, undercarriage, spare tie, everywhere and said it was the cleanest used car he'd seen on the lot that we looked. The day after I bought the car he noticed a leak coming from the oil pan. They said they won't fix it since we bought as is, but the cleaned it so well that they hid the oil leak. Also they never mentioned that the windshield was replaced and repaired. So when somehow it got a little crack in it, and I called to get it repaired the technician said it's been repaired before and so it needs to be replaced. I bought this car and the $1000 warranty that is level 1 and it doesn't cover the windshield. 10/10 don't recommend buying a car from here. People that sold me the car were friendly but I won't be recommending this place to anyone. If there was a zero star option I would choose it. read more

I bought a 2015 Jeep. My sales consultant was Anthony. He is very good at what he does. He assured me that I was making a good purchase. And I believe him. Mistake #1. This truck has been in and out of the shop since I purchased it. Motor issues, radiator issues and now the check engine light is on. Please do your homework when purchasing from this dealership. I am currently shopping for a car for my daughter as she will be turning 16 very soon. I don't have a lot of money but I found a vehicle online which looked like it was within my price range. I emailed the dealer, 518 Auto Sales, chatted with the "bot" & received a text message verifying my interest. With all 3 of those (chat, email, text), I stated I would like to test drive the vehicle & asked if the vehicle would be on site & ready for a test drive when I got there. I never got an answer, even though the appointment was already booked. So, about an hour before my appointment, I called 518 Auto Sales because it's about a half hour away from my home. I didn't want to make the trip if I couldn't test drive it, as I had already stated several times. I spoke with someone, I know his name but I'm not going to blast him, but he informed me that the vehicle was there & I would be able to test drive it but said he had to locate it. Now, as I said, 518 Auto Sales is a half hour from my house so I drove out there, expecting to test drive the vehicle. I was greeted & treated pleasantly by another employee. When I told him who I had spoken with & that he would help me, the man who greeted me said that the employee was busy with another customer & that HE could help me. After a few minutes, they located the vehicle, it was in the back but apparently was just recently traded in & has transmission issues so it was not driveable!!! Are you serious? I made an appointment several days ahead of time, the appointment was for a test drive & even spoke with an employee who told me it was there & ready to go, drove a half hour after work only to be told, "We have lots of other vehicles available." Uhh, no! I'm here to test drive the vehicle I inquired about several days ago! I didn't raise my voice or lose my cool. I didn't even say anything cuz at this point, it doesn't matter, the damage is done. Mark was the employee that eventually showed me the vehicle & he was very courteous. But the fact that they have so many vehicles & so many employees, not one person could simply tell me, "It's not driveable at the moment. Maybe we should schedule an appointment when it's ready." That's ridiculous & it's very rude. I will not be doing any business with 518 Auto Sales in the future & will make sure to tell anyone who asks about buying a vehicle. At this point they would have to fix the vehicle & give it to my daughter themselves, cuz I'm not buying it. You want to make it right, fix the vehicle & give it to my daughter for her 16th birthday. Otherwise, no soup for you! Next! read more

WARNING!!!!!!!!! WARNING !!!!! WARNING!!!! do not purchase from this dealership. untruthful and deceitful sales of car. research lemon laws before you come here!!!!! If you value money, time and authentic customer service then I highly advise to "STAY AWAY" from 518 Auto. I bought a 2001 Honda CRV after my truck was totaled. I purchased the warranty along with the vehicle. Did a test drive, everything seems fine. However, a week later, the engine dies, luckily I got the warranty (or some kind of fake service guarantee BS). They would not honor that warranty or document, they would not even check if the vehicle was within its contractual obligation (This is just as bad as those telemarketers selling warranty). I even sent the vehicle to have a mechanic look at it but I would not get any help from 518 Auto or the warranty service personnel to follow through. So I had the warranty service canceled and got some of my money back. Major waste of time and money. read more

518 AUTO SALES SCAMS DISABLED VETERAN If you're considering purchasing a vehicle from 518 Auto Sales, I implore you to reconsider based on my dreadful experience. Last Friday, I paid over $900 to have a vehicle shipped from Virginia to Albany, Georgia, for my brother, trusting their commitment to a timely and smooth transaction. However, the reality has been anything but. Firstly, the price of the car did not at all reflect its condition, but despite my reservations, I proceeded because it was the vehicle my brother has always desired. From the moment the purchase was finalized, the service plummeted into non-existence. Promised updates on shipping were absent, and attempts to establish communication have been utterly futile. Since the supposed shipping date, I have called the dealership THREE times, contacted the salesperson directly TWICE, and left MULTIPLE messages. Responses? None. During two calls, I reached someone who only put me on hold for over 12 minutes each time, leading nowhere. Emails and texts have similarly gone unanswered. It's now Wednesday--a full business week--and not only is the vehicle's whereabouts unknown, but no one at 518 Auto Sales seems capable of picking up a phone or responding to a message. The dealership indicated that the car might arrive by Sunday, or Monday at the latest, yet it's midweek with no word, no confirmation, nothing. My brother is effectively housebound, waiting for a delivery that was supposed to be a surprise and straightforward. This lack of communication and disregard for customer service is not only UNPROFESSIONAL; it's DISRESPECTFUL, ESPECIALLY IN A MILITARY TOWN where you EXPECT BUSINESSES TO DEMONSTRATE INTEGRITY AND RESPECT TOWARDS SERVICE MEMBERS. Walking into 518 Auto Sales, you might be impressed by the lineup of sleek or clean cars, but don't be deceived. The quality of their vehicles is not matched by their customer service, which is non-existent once they've made a sale. With a dubious mix of high internal ratings and a mediocre public score, it's clear that this dealership prioritizes facade over substance. This isn't just POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE; it's an outright NEGLECT OF BASIC BUSINESS ETHICS. I AM APPALLED AND DEEPLY REGRET MY DECISION TO ENGAGE WITH 518 AUTO SALES. To others in the military community and beyond, LOOK ELSEWHERE WHERE YOUR SERVICE AND SACRIFICE ARE RESPECTED AND VALUED. read more

2017 Dodge Durango Was sold a Dodge Durango that came with financial hardship and no one to turn to. TJ successfully scammed me out of thousands of dollars for his selfish gain. We looked at many cars as TJ puffed his THC vape and complained about the amount of cars we looked at. Many of the cars have cosmetic damage and some didn't start. The Mazda 6 that we were interested in initially didn't even start! Tj brought out a battery charger then made false claims that the battery was disconnected. Since when do we "disconnect" batteries on lots where cars are on show case to be sold. Tj ensured we would miss any defects with the car by limiting where we drove for test drive. The issue with the 2017 Dodge Durango is that when you approach speeds around 40 miles per hour, the vehicle shakes violently and the check engine light flashes as you drive down the highway. TJ was aware of this issue as he manipulated where we drove stop light to stop light to avoid those issues to show themselves. I recommend 518 be invested for fraud They bring no value to the Hampton's roads area. This is the nightmare dealership of the community. read more

518 AUTO SALES SCAM I brought a vehicle from 518 auto sales my sales representative was Tj. As soon as I got on the interstate 5 mins after leaving the dealership the engine like came on I called them back and tj told me to bring the car in. Then he called back and told me to bring it in Monday. Monday came and I brought them the vehicle back they told me that it's my responsibility for getting the car fixed. Which buying a car as is means I'm responsible. 518 knew that this car had problems and didn't say anything. I would say over half of their cars had something wrong with it. I would never refer anyone here. It's like they are a scam, that's how I see it. People come to establishment such as 518 Auto sales with their last dime with the intentions to purchase a used vehicle just to find out they were scammed. Now have to come out of pocket to fix the vehicle. Step-son just purchased a truck from this "dealership" and it was easily the worst transaction I've ever been a part of! If you're expecting to walk in, purchase a vehicle and drive out, stand clear of this place. Nearly a solid week between signed paperwork, check handed over, and actual receipt of the truck! Why? Because they have some standard operating procedure of NOT inspecting a vehicle until it's sold. That means a very large percentage of their vehicles are sitting on the lot with expired or NO valid state inspection. Communication is easily the worst I've ever seen. Once we delivered the bank check, nearly total radio silence from sales person and staff. I'd suggest staying clear of 518 Auto Sales read more
