On 7/26/24, my friend and I went on an exciting journey to purchase what we thought would be a reliable Nissan Frontier, but it didn't take long for our joy to turn to misery after we were lied to, cheated, and ghosted by the worst used car dealer either of us have ever dealt with. When we walked into Surfside Auto Company, we spoke to Kevin, who with a big smile and cheerful demeanor made it seem like he had our best interests at heart. We traveled 6 hours to purchase a Nissan Frontier, and Kevin assured us that the vehicle was solid, but after our test drive, it was obvious that the brake pedal had inconsistent pressure. When we mentioned this to Kevin, he told us that he noticed this same issue when he drove the vehicle an hour before we arrived, and that, in his words, "because it is a safety issue, we HAVE to take care of it." He gave us the option to either wait until Monday and have Surfside Auto fix it, or drive back to PA and have a local shop take care of the repair, with Kevin ensuring that we would be compensated for the cost of the work after it was done. He seemed true to his word, but appearances can be deceiving, as you will soon learn. After we arrived back to PA, we took the truck to Nissan for an inspection to determine what was necessary to repair the brakes, and they came back with a nightmare report, the least of which had to do with the brakes, as they found that the radiator was leaking fluid into the transmission, which leads to what is known online as the "strawberry milkshake of death," where the transmission fails prematurely due to radiator liquid diluting the transmission fluid. We were shocked to say the least, and it was obvious to us and Nissan that this should have been uncovered during Surfside Auto Company's inspection of the Frontier prior to it being sold to us, yet, it was not. Furthermore, other leaks and issues were found, yet the dire revelation was that the radiator needed to be replaced, and the transmission would possibly not survive a flush/fill, which, if so, would necessitate a new transmission. We contacted Kevin with these findings on Monday 7/29/24 at 11:50am, and after much time went by without a reply, we called the dealership, and Kevin finally responded, saying that the owner would be in on Tuesday morning, after which Kevin will speak to him and let us know what they will do to help. Take note that the Nissan Frontier which we just purchased 3 days earlier from Surfside Auto Company has been incapacitated since Monday morning, and we won't be hearing from Kevin until Tuesday as to what the owner tells him. On Tuesday 7/30/24, Kevin said that the owner would not do anything about the transmission and radiator, and that "it sounds very funny that it wouldn't have been picked up at our shop," which is exactly what me, my friend and Nissan were thinking, meaning that either Surfside Auto Company did not inspect the vehicle, or did not disclose the findings (which would be fraud). Kevin also said that the owner would not be on the hook "for an entirely new brake system, because he is certain that it doesn't need that." Please understand that Nissan, the company who made the vehicle, assured us that the problem with inconsistent brake pressure is due to the Hydraulic Control Assembly, which needed to be replaced for $769.16, and if it wasn't, the problem would remain. Remember that Kevin looked both me and my friend in the face and said regarding the inconsistent brake pressure "because it is a safety issue, we HAVE to take care of it," and that he would compensate us for the repair. Now, after the sale is done, Kevin says that the owner refuses to provide what his sales representative Kevin promised, which is, once again, fraud. Please see the attached photo for the rest of my review.

The check engine light came on when we test drove...he played it off like it was no big deal. HE TELLS MY HUSBAND HOW YOU CAN BUY A CODE READER OFF OF AMAZON OR AUTO PARTS STORE AND HE CONTINUES TO SHOW HIM HOW TO CLEAR THE LIGHT!!!!! THE PROBLEM WAS STILL THERE! I wish I would have listened to my gut instinct and walked away but we believed him thinking it was nothing. As soon as we got half way home the check engine light comes on again!!!!!! We have Advanced Auto scan it and that is how we found out why he was quick to erase the code so we couldn't find out and he just lied "saying it was probably nothing to be concerned with probably just a loose gas cap" I wish it was that easy. My suv sat for 2 months because we didn't have $2,700 to fix it. PLUS, the side mirrors did not match one was darker then the other. The door that he "replaced because it had a dent" was not the same color as the car....I found that out one day when I was washing it...I stood back and said it looks different and sure enough it was. The doors have numbers to match the car...the passenger side door...the door he fixed did not match the others. So now on a good sunny day you can see it doesn't match the car. The passenger door panel is coming off we have to fix that. We had to buy an emergency stick key for the key fob that it should have had but it didn't, nor did he tell us it didn't. I have contacted him twice via emails and he never responded except to say he would pay for half to replace the mirror...which it is now 7 months later he has still not paid his part. DO NOT TRUST HIM AND IF YOU STILL WANT TO BUY A VEHICLE FROM HIM....LOOK AT EVERY SINGLE THING ON THAT CAR INSPECT IT GOOD BECAUSE THE WEATHER WAS OVERCAST BOTH DAYS, WE WENT SO WE DIDN'T SEE THESE PROBLEMS UNTIL AFTER WE SIGNED ON THE DOTTED LINE....THEN THE PROBLEM WAS NO LONGER HIS IT WAS OURS. IF YOU SEE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TAKE IT TO ADVANCED AUTO BEFORE BUYING, THEY TOLD US EVEN IF HE CLEARS THE LIGHT....THE CODES ARE STILL THERE AND THEY WILL BE ABLE TO TELL YOU IF THERE ARE ANY PROBLEMS THAT HE WILL BE TRYING TO HIDE!!!! BUYERS BEWARE....YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR. SO, IF YOU THINK YOU GOT A GOOD DEAL....YOU MIGHT FIND OUT SOONER THEN YOU WANT JUST WHY IT WAS SUCH A GOOD DEAL!

We have typically worked directly with Kyle, the owner, especially because our children drive these vehicles and he truly values safety. This time, however, we worked with Mark. Things started off well. I made it clear that the vehicle was for my son, and initially, Mark seemed attentive. He even asked for a Yelp review while I was signing the paperwork, but I prefer to wait until the entire process is completed before leaving a review. Unfortunately, after the paperwork was signed, the experience went downhill. The vehicle needed servicing because the battery would not start. Mark informed my son that a part had to be ordered and that the car would be ready on Monday or Tuesday. Monday passed, and on Tuesday (1/13/26), Mark texted my son stating the vehicle would be ready at 1:00 PM. When my son and husband arrived on Tuesday, things became frustrating. They were told that the temporary tags Ms. Hall had prepared were misplaced. My husband also noticed that Mark seemed more focused on selling cars to other customers rather than assisting the customer who was standing right in front of him. It felt as though my son and his vehicle were no longer a priority since the paperwork was signed. When the car was finally started, it became clear that there was no gas in the vehicle. Mark continued running the car despite this and stated he was too busy to get gas, yet the car could not be moved off the lot. The car eventually ran out of gas right there. Mark then said he would send someone to get gas. After waiting for some time, someone arrived with a gas can, filled the vehicle, and Mark said everything was fine. However, once my husband got into the car to finally leave, he realized that the windows and radio were not working. Because of this, we were unable to even check the heating and cooling to see how it worked. My husband went back inside to inform Mark, but instead of addressing the issue, Mark told him hold on, made a phone call, spoke briefly to others, stated he was leaving, and walked out leaving my husband standing in the parking lot without any explanation. Before my husband could become more upset, AJ stepped in thankfully. I want to sincerely thank AJ, Alex, Ms. Hall, and Scott for stepping up and helping us through this situation. Their efforts did not go unnoticed. They worked together as a team to help resolve the issue. While we are still waiting for the vehicle to be fully serviced, AJ and Scott went above and beyond by providing us with a loaner car in the meantime. Because of them, our confidence in 518 Auto has not been completely lost, and we truly appreciate their professionalism and support.

They said it was because the oil wasn't cleaned up after changing a gasket. I took it to a separate mechanic and just stopped dealing with them. I wasted $6000 so just be careful. Used car dealerships are scammy because they're pawning off the POS they bought onto you. Guarantee these guys got the Subaru forester for nothing and I'm the sucker who gave them thousands for it lol. Whatever, avoiding these guys from now on. I will say this though, two weeks after I bought the car the catalytic converter failed and they went in half on the cost of the repair. That was actually pretty cool and why I gave them two stars but I specifically asked them if the car was leaking oil and they told me flat out it wasn't and they knew it wasn't true after it sat on their lift for an afternoon. I'm just done dealing with used car dealerships in general. These guys were THE LAST ones I ever buy a car from. It's private sellers or new cars for me. Not to mention the leaking oil, the evap system started leaking (probably a simple gas cap), the power steering pump failed, the AC compressor wasn't working properly, and a whole other list of issues with this car. I knew better but my girl was sooo excited. Hopefully the car will make it to October and I'll buy another car when I can't get this thing to pass an inspection ever again.

This was my first experience trying to purchase a vehicle that I could not see first hand for myself. Justin made it a seamless, easy, and confidence inspiring experience. From what I could gather, his dealership maintains, inspects, and corrects their vehicles to the best of their ability before selling them to the public and that is nothing but honorable, trustworthy, and respectable business practice. Justin is straight, to the point, and no fluff as any good mechanic should be. He took care of me and even left a little cash in the car upon delivery so I could go get it cleaned up after its long trip (had it delivered a few states over) so it could look nice and new for the first impression to friends and family. Justin absolutely does his best to deliver a quality product to his customers. Not all used cars can be perfect on the spot, but he makes up for that variable with a solid business ethic, customer service, and a love for the community. I would recommend his dealership to anyone.

As I know quite a bit about vehicles and what to look for in a vehicle, of all the car lots I went to find a vehicle, (about 25 and two weeks of researching online), I ended up at Trimax. Not only did I feel no pressure, I felt like a valued customer. I bought a LR4 from Trimax about 8 months ago. FOR THE FIRST TIME after 60+ years THAT I HAVE EVER BOUGHT A VEHICLE I STILL HAVE HAD TO DO NOTHING TO THE VEHICLE. There is no undisclosed oil leak, the transmission hasn't started slipping, haven't had to replace the battery, spark plugs, air filter, didn't have to replace any tires or buy a spare, and haven't had a knock of any kind start happening. I transport three grandchildren to medical appointments with TOTAL CONFIDENCE AND PEACE OF MIND because of the fantastic job they did bringing this vehicle up to speed. I could not pen words to express my deep appreciation for mechanics who clearly take what they do to a new level. I normally remove any sticker on my vehicle from the dealership I bought the vehicle from. For the first time, I WILL NOT REMOVE TRIMAX's sticker. You want a solid ride.
