I've been going to this practice for 10 years, and my husband has been receiving care for 5 years…read more Unfortunately we are leaving the practice due to customer service around a billing issue. We believe a visit for an annual exam was incorrectly billed to our medical insurance, not our vision insurance, resulting in a larger co-share for us. We called the office without any resolution, and wrote a letter asking that they resubmit this correctly, or we would be leaving the practice. They haven't called nor resolved the billing issue - and seem okay losing a long-timer client (10 years), and a longish-time client (5 years). I thought I would write this review since on my last visit, before I had even seen Dr Kraft, one of the techs asked me to write a review on some platform (maybe this one).

She really took the time to get to know me as a person as well, which I believe gave her more background when deciding which contacts to recommend, but she also seemed to be genuinely interested in me. (Really refreshing) They got a new front office staff which was a brilliant improvement from my experience last year. The front staff are insanely kind and willing to do everything they can to make the experience as smooth as possible. They took ample amount of time to make sure I understood everything on my bill/insurance in extreme detail. I did have to wait about 15 minutes after my appointment time, but the care they took to make sure I had a good experience was well worth the wait. I've also seen Dr. Sparrenberger who is very good as well. When I got home, I realized I forgot to update my new address. I called right before close and they immediately updated my profile and sent me a email with an updated copy of my receipt. Beautiful customer service and definitely the best experience I've had at an eye doctor. This is a review of the Reston location as I have not been to other locations. 1/3/2020

The staff in the front of the store are focused heavily on selling glasses, while the professionals in the back who conduct the eye exams were courteous and did a good job. The problem came after my eye exam. Once my new prescription was determined, I expected to receive a copy of it so I could decide where I wanted to purchase my glasses. Instead, the prescription was immediately sent to the front desk. When I made it clear that I did not intend to purchase glasses there, I became concerned about the prescription I was ultimately provided and whether it accurately reflected the results of my examination. The prices for glasses at NVDOC were substantially higher than what I could find online, which made the experience even more frustrating. A customer should be able to receive an accurate copy of their prescription and shop wherever they choose without feeling pressured into purchasing glasses from the office. The eye-care professionals themselves were good, but the overall experience at the front of the store left me extremely disappointed. I would recommend getting a copy of your prescription and having it independently verified before purchasing glasses elsewhere. Based on my experience, I would not return to NVDOC.

Shady practices like hiding my tracking after failing to meet the promise date to obscure their failure to deliver goods. If you need your glasses for any medical reason, you need to protect your health and peace of mind by going elsewhere, preferably a local practice and not a chain. Thankfully they were able to fit me in that same day and I saw Dr. Vinh, who diagnosed my abrasion and immediately alleviated my discomfort with numbing drops and a contact lens bandage over my cornea, prescribing me antibiotic drops to take to prevent an eye infection. Long story short I leaned the very hard way that I am allergic to a specific type of antibiotic eye drop (which for the record Dr. Vinh said was quite rare) and my eye swelled up and became badly inflamed overnight, causing me to return the next day and see Dr. Perry, who took great care of me and gave me steroid drops to bring down the inflammation. A day later and my eye was as good as new, and I saw Dr. Vinh again who gave me a clean bill of health. Simply put, I could not have been in better hands than I was with NOVA Vision Center. The professionalism and care that I experienced from the receptionists to the techs to the doctors was second to none. These folks are good at what they do, they truly care about their patients, and it shows. I now look forward to making them my new eye care place in the future, hopefully next time under better circumstances! :)

Tl/Dr: this is a PSA for the parking situation at this location…read more 5 stars for Dr. Lobaugh. -10000 stars for the location and parking garage. I was just getting comfortable riding the high of all green lights and zero traffic when I had the misfortune of entering the garage at 1700 N Moore. At first, it just looks like a normal garage. But as you ascend higher levels looking for parking you realize that's there are only like 10 parking spots per floor. Also notable is the fact that there were no elevators ... so I guess if you're disabled... better luck next time? I think I made it 3 or 4 floors before I decided to turn around (easier said than done because one lane for 2 way traffic) and find parking elsewhere. Luckily, I only encountered one other car coming while I was attempting going. I was going to make my way to the garage across the street but (surprise) the entrance on N Moore is employee only so take the entrance on N Lynn. So... 2 loops later, I made it into garage #2. Parking spaces were labeled weirdly, so I'm not even sure I parked in an allowed spot, but my car was still there after my appointment so there's that. I checked in w the security person at 1700 N Moore about the elevator situation and she said that the elevator was only available at certain floors of the garage. So ........ yeah. Also- Dr. Lobaugh is amazing. I followed her to NOVA optometry from her last practice in Arlington. Couldn't recommend a physician more. She's one of those people who just makes you feel like she gives a duck about you and whatever issue you're having. That's hard to find. She's basically the only person I'd ever come back to this god forsaken location for.
